LondonCool:

Would you split the restaurant bill (go Dutch as they call it) if your BF took you out for a treat ?

Would you kick him out of your house just b/c you had a little quarrel ?

Would you ask him to contribute to your house rent/mortgage ?

Would you ask him to come with Phone cards/Top Up P-A-Y-G vouchers as he is comming to your house. ?

Would you call the police for him if u discover he has overstayed in the UK?

There is no one way to answer this, all relationships cannot be generalised.

I think I have quite modern views on relationship, whilst still remaining traditional in many ways.

The most important thing would be to be supportive in all things, rather than following set rules.

If my man would rather pay the billl, I'd let him. I am very happy to split the bill or even treat him now and again. However, on the first date, sorry I am very much old-fashioned and still think the man should foot the bill on the first date. But no worries, i try not to drain his bank account on that first date, LOL

I wouldn't kick him out of the house if we had a quarrel, but if he cheated on me and i have tangible evidence, sorry, hun, he has got to go!

Mortgages/Rent: the natural role is for the man to be the main breadwinner. Evene if I earn more than he does, I would be happy for him to contribute in whatever way he can, a man who lets a woman keep him will feel emancipated over time, and that's not good. What i would not abide is a man who refuses to get a job (note i said refuses, not 'is unable to get a job) or he has a job, yet thinks it's okay for me to do all the hard work in the relationship. It takes two!

At the end of the day, love and relationships are all about reciporaction, yet some traditional roles persist and should be maintianed for harmony between the sexes

Romance / Re: Why are Women Not Crazy About Tall Men? by tega78(f): 10:47am On Apr 09, 2007
Because women are biologicall programmed to seek out the best quality stock mate with and pass on their genes.

Tall, broad shouldered and attractive men symbolise good health and good genes and also indicates that the man would be strong enough to protect and defend her.

This is why women gnerally play hard to get and are quite choosy on who will father their child.

For the same reason, men are bioligically programmed to cheat and be unfaithful, because they want to spread their genes and ensure survival of the species.

Romance / Re: Nigerian Women Really Chasing Men These Days by tega78(f): 10:17am On Apr 09, 2007
I don't think it is just nigerian women, it seems to be a trend in all women.

However, there are still a handful of we traditional girls who like to let the man do the chasing, at least in the early stages.

I personally would find it quite hard to chase a man, especially in the beginning, i guess am a little old-fashioned.

I also feel it is quite unnatural as men are biologically the aggressors. a lot of relationships that begin with the women pursuing the guy generally do not last that long, yes it can be rather flattering for a guy to have a woman pursuing him, but after a while he is likely to get bored.

The man should initiate the 1st contact, he should set the first date, he should propose. Not saying that women can't do this, but having the woman lead all the time can be emancipating for the men.

men are biologically natural hunters, they love the thrill of the chase and the hunt, so give them something to hunt!
Romance / Re: How Do U Deal With Your Guy Looking At Other Women When He Is With You by tega78(f): 10:08am On Apr 09, 2007
Loooking at other girls??!!! When he is with you??!!

Okay, i understand that we are all normal human beings and it is natural to appreciate other people, but come on, not while your other half is right next to you, that is a sign of complete disregard and disprespect.

A slap to the head should sort him out!!

Dating And Meet-up Zone / Enough Already! London Naijas Meet Up by tega78(f): 1:25am On Apr 09, 2007
as i read through the seveal posts asking to meet girls and 'be my val' , i thought why doesn't someon do something about it.

Okay, now correct me if someone has already thought this up, but here''s my idea.

I am based in London, UK.  How about all nairaland members that are based in the UK email me directly.  We can have a message system, where you can suggest fun places to visist or things to do in London, say twice a month, all nairaland London members meet up, have fun, socialise, catch up and perhaps find a date.  Of course, if you are not in london, you can have something similar in your area.

Think of it as a social meet-up group.

Let me know: my email is naija_inlondon@yahoo.co.uk
Religion / Re: Numerology Etc. by tega78(f): 12:40am On Apr 09, 2007
Numerology is the study of numerical patterns in life. Numbers and numerical patterns exist everyhwere, within your name, on days of the week and so on.

Even astrology is a a science, techincially speaking.

In the ancient univesities, astrology and astronomy were studied as subjects, in fact, astrology/astronomy gave rise to other scinces like chemistry, biology and so on.

The general belief in astrology is that the planets and their patterns acros the sky influence aspects of your life. Tjis makes perfect sense as we see the effects of the Sun on life on earth (without the sun, no photosynetheis and no food; people are geerall more productive during the sunniest parts of the year), the moon's effects (during a full moon, the gravitional effects of the moon affects the tides, in fact, all bodies of water; including humans, as we are composed of 75% fluids, this is why people become more irrational during the full moon, excessive fluid on the brain). Now if the sun and the Moon can have such effects on life, surely the other planets (most of which are much bigger than the moon) MUST also have an effect, and thus astrology was born.

So you can see astrology is not a demonic hocuc pocus mumbo-jumbo, but actaully very scientific.

people who use astrology as a guide for their plans are only making use of the most auspicious influences for their endeavour, just the same way a farmer or fisherman would. A farmer would not be stupid to plant his crops in the dry season and the fisherman knows the sea if sull of abundant supply of fish at certain times of the year.

Simply adding my own two cents, or rather two kobo

Religion / Ifa Orisa Religion - Is This Our True Identity: Our True Religion by tega78(f): 12:19am On Apr 09, 2007
What do you gouys think of the western world's surge of interest in african traditional religions, especially in the ifa/orisha religion. So many people, especailly our fellow africans, living in diaspora are seeking to reconnect with their roots. They claim christianity was actaully the religion of the slave masters, they now wish to recoonect with original african religions as they re-affirm their identity. After all, all around the world, the people of the indigenious countries practise their own religions - chinse practise their buddhism, indians practise hinduism, eastern europeans pratise islam, why not we africans. are we doomed to rmin perpetaul slaves, if not in reality, but perhaps in our mentality,

Religion / Re: Covering Of Hair For Christain Women, Is It Compulsory? by tega78(f): 12:11am On Apr 09, 2007
Not sure if it should be made compulsory, it certainly should be done out of respect for God's presence.

Most world religions have the women cover their hair when in presence of their deities/gods, why not Christians.

I think it is meant to symbolise humilty or something, before the presence of God.
Religion / Hiv Christian And Marriage by tega78(f): 1:19pm On Apr 08, 2007

Religion / Re: Pre-Marital Sex Is Not Fornication by tega78(f): 1:15pm On Apr 08, 2007
Whether or not pre-marital sex is fornication, whether or not pre-marital sex is a sin, it is still WRONG for all sorts of moral reasons.

I am not deeply religoius myself, but i'd feel quite disgusted with myself if i had to give my body to every man i dated, I'd rather wait to give myself to my husband.

Strong self-respecting women who gladly wait

The greatest gift a man can give his new wife is a ring on her finger, his name andf his complete love (ie gettiing married) , the greatest gift a woman can give her new husband is her complete love and her undefiled body
