This is coming a bit late but still... Ladies and gentlemen, it's PPR!!! MY EXPRESS ENTRY JOURNEY My first close contact with relocation to Canada was in 2016 when my sister left with her family. She had started the process as far back as 2014 when it was paper based. She studied the entire process and eventually got the PR. Prior to this my siblings had tried to convince me in 2012/2013 to go for my LLM in Canada. I initially refused but later applied to several schools but never got admission. In 2015 after a friend of my husband told me what schools to apply to and how to package my application, I got an admission offer into Osgoode Hall Law school, York University. I didn’t go eventually because funds were low at the time and I really wasn’t too keen on leaving my beloved Nigeria. By 2017, my husband caught the bug and teamed up with my siblings to convince me to relocate. I grudgingly agreed. In my mind “na una go tire cos I won’t lift a finger to do anything”. It was agreed that I would be the PA since the odds were more in my favour. Wrote ielts June 24, 2017. Was able to reschedule my speaking from June 17 to June 18 as it was clashing with a prior engagement. Scores - LWRS 9 7.5 9 8. Honestly had no idea there were certain points I should be aiming for. I just studied for a few weeks and wrote the exam in all innocence. Thankfully, that one time was enough. Started the process for IQAS September 4, 2017 and received their AOR October 10, 2017 but the infamous NASU strike started and it got stuck. Me I kuku didn’t care, was just laughing at everyone else lamenting about the situation . My school was finally able to send my transcript in March 2018 and IQAS acknowledged receipt May 1, 2018. The report was out May 23, 2018. My husband evaluated his degree with WES, wrote IELTS September 2017 and was excited when he saw his result of mostly sixes♀️. Anyways, we move! We entered the pool June 6, 2018 with a CRS of 460 and got ITA June 13, 2018 just before they stopped the 3 months to submit thingy and also just as they introduced Biometrics. Medicals was at Children’s Practice July 23, 2018. The whole process was annoyingly slow. It’s amazing how much crap we take in this country because we have little or no option. Thankfully I took the day off from work. Early 2018, my brother relocated with his family too. It was only me left in Nigeria but I was determined to rock all the owambes and eat all my Nigerian food for a long time to come. Went to Alagbon one morning at 8am and met with Inspector Funke for my PCC. Was done in 30mins and paid ₦3,000. My current employer was used to the process so getting ref letter was a breeze. For my previous employer, I simply mailed him the reference letter format which he adopted. POF delayed submission as it took a while to put together. Eventually my husband transferred it to my account and I put it in a Short Term Scheme with an Asset Management Company for 6months. To show proof of funds, we submitted my account statement, the Investment Letter and an LOE, stating that my husband sent me the money. We submitted September 5 and got AOR the next day but dated Sept 5. Meanwhile my bestfriend, who started the process after I did, got her PPR and left around May 2018. Early 2019 I asked her about the experience so far. She broke the whole thing down to me in no way anyone had ever spoken to me before that I realised I had been foolish all along. We got BIL September 29, 2018 and on October 16, 2019 we went to VFS without my husband’s Passport as he had submitted it at another embassy shortly before then. So all we took were coloured copies of his bio data page and we had no problem. We made sure to get there early and were done in about an hour. Our profile was updated the same day. By October 12, 2019 I got the “How to find a job in Canada” letter and thought that my file was in LVO. Before my status bar hit 6 months I raised a CSE January 23, 2019 to find out my VO and bam! response on January 28, 2019- Accra. I was devastated. Decided to go off Nairaland and just chill till PPR shows up. This was difficult to achieve because by this time I had somewhat become the guru amongst some of my colleagues who knew I had applied and were also at various stages of their own application. So every now and then they would come to me, discuss this issue or that, and ask about my own application. I would then be forced to check my profile and be hit by no change or movement at all. Eventually I joined a WhatsApp group which turned to my new solace. I could finally track timelines similar to mine. We requested for GCMS notes on March 8, 2019 and got it April 12, 2019. For some reason my present job was marked “rejected” and till today I wonder why. (I seriously suspect it was a NOC issue) Only my previous job of 1 year 5 months experience was accepted. Every other thing in the notes looked okay. I worried about this a little to be honest especially when people were getting rejected because of NOC mismatch. However I was a bit convinced nothing would go wrong since the last few pages of the notes did not raise any red flag neither did my CRS drop below the cutoff at the time of our draw (after work experience was reduced from 3 years to 1). Let me point out here that my Husband has previous Visa refusals from Canada and the UK, and between us both we have a very extensive travel history. March 9, 2019 the AVO group was abuzz. Apparently several people had gotten the famous 5 ADR and everyone was celebrating this activity from AVO I on the other hand was dreading it. I didn’t need any additional stress of document gathering. Alas, I got the mail too and submitted the requested docs 2 weeks later via only the placeholders in my profile. I submitted my 6 months salary account statement and highlighted salary paid within that period from my current employer only. Submitted one year payslip from my current employer and my investment letter showing my POF had been rolled over. For the Schedule A forms, my husband and I were the “Applicants” in our respective forms. Then another wait. I mailed Ralph on March 29, 2019 and was told on April 1, 2019 that I had passed criminality but Eligibility and Security were yet to be initiated. Thankfully in April, by which time we were 7 months, AVO started issuing PPR like say Trudeau send them serious warning However it failed to reach me. On Monday I was speaking with a friend and I told him my PPR will come the next day. By Tuesday evening I decided to send a carefully worded, passionate but firm email to Accra. Wednesday at 4.08pm I got a mail from cic. I initially thought it was a response to my mail only to see that it was a prompt to check my account. My heart was beating so fast. Checked my account and saw additional docs required in the ADR column and my heart sunk. What do these people want again?! Until I saw the Request Letter in my messages and opened it to see that lovely golden Eagle. Finally, it has ended in praise! ITA- June 13, 2018 AOR- September 5, 2018 BIL- September 29, 2018 IP2- since I can remember ADR- March 9, 2019 Ghost Update- April 17, 2019 PPR- May 15, 2019 Many thanks to all who answered the questions I asked here. I appreciate you all for the wealth of info on this thread. It was indeed a great source for me in the early days. Cheers! 99 Likes 1 Share |

Next of Kin does't really mean anything when death occurs. it's either there is a will, a letter of administration, or property is divided by a judge according to the deceased's personal law. when we say there is a lack of legality, lets not forget that maybe, just maybe, some of these "common law" partners have had a traditional wedding. A traditional wedding is very much legal in Nigeria and recognised under the law, so they really don't need to go to the registry to legalise anything again. the only drawback is that it is easier to prove a civil wedding than a traditional wedding. veleta: I think it’s better to write plan and apply for express entry at the same time. I know someone who did this. His PPR came first and then he left for Canada. He passed his Plab not too long after and is now working in the UK. He plans to go back to Canada once done with all the training and any other necessary requirements. 6 Likes |

Your first language can still be english even though you are from so and so tribe. For example, i am Yoruba but english is my first language because my knowledge of written and spoken Yoruba (which you have reffered to as mother tongue) is minimal (not my fault) and takes a back seat to english. So for IELTS i entered English as my first language. Eraytee: 6 Likes |

i just want to correct your notion that penetartion is all there is to sexual abuse/assault/molestation. while this may have been the case in this and many other scenarios involving 2 year olds, there are several other forms in which such abuse can occur eg, orally, by touch, with words, encouraging others to do it while the perpertrator watches, etc. revolt: 13 Likes |

zicoraads: I see no reason why you cannot determine someone as a stonger character. if we agree that character can vary then surely by certain societal standards we can determine strong character. it now depends on which standards we use seeing as people are different and diverse. |

zicoraads: The definition of character you posted here never said moral or mental quality must be good, strong or high. it can be the opposite. it can be in between. as long as you can point out an individuals moral and mental qualities, whether good or bad, high or low, strong or weak, that is the person's character. |

it's very unfair to choose between both cos most women want a little bit of both. in fact i think every one would want to build their own person with different characteristics from several people. However, as life never gives us what we want exactly, i would choose a Tobi over an Alex. I won't manipulate him in anyway though because truth is a man like Tobi will love and encouragement will probably be a very wonderful and strong individual. AntiBrutus: |
