Politics / Re: Human Rights Group Says Wole Soyinka Got It Wrong On TB Joshua's Trial! by Temotala: 7:16pm On May 11, 2021

Politics / Human Rights Group Says Wole Soyinka Got It Wrong On TB Joshua's Trial! by Temotala: 6:33pm On May 11, 2021
Nigeria’s leading human rights movement, has said that Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka got it wrong on his calls that famous Pastor Temitope Joshua should be tried by the law court over the collapse of the Synagogue Church of All Nations.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Nigerian Human Rights Community, (NHRC) said the respected Professor should have been armed with the correct information before making the statement calling for the trial of Pastor Temitope Joshua.

“The trial has been on-going. The persecutors and the defense lawyers have been arguing their cases in the law court. As we speak, Pastor Joshua and his Church have not been found guilty by the law court. We do not understand what other trial the learned Professor is talking about” the NHRC said in a statement signed by its officials, Taye Adeleye and Mark Eke Alozie.

Rights Group Says Wole Soyinka Got It Wrong On TB Joshua's Trial----Nigeria’s leading human rights movement, has said that Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka got it wrong on his calls that famous Pastor Temitope Joshua should be tried by the law court over the collapse of the Synagogue Church of All Nations.

Prof Soyinka had said at a book launch that Joshua should be tried by the law court over the collapse of the building. “We find the position of the Professor Soyinka strange. We wish to remind him that the court in Lagos has been prosecuting this case including using the evidence provided by witnesses”, the NHRC said.

The NHRC established in 2005 is a coalition of 135 civil society spread across the country. NHRC is also member of the Human Rights Network, (HURINET) coordinated by the British Council and the African Civil Rights Network.

According to the group, there are witnesses who said they sighted a flying object few minutes before the collapse of the building. These objects could be a drone, or light helicopter adding that it is left for the court not an individual to investigate and come up with solutions. The officials said given the current state of banditry and violence, those who claimed they sighted a flying object may be correct. Prof Soyinka should be aware that terrorists in Nigeria use drone and this did not start today.

The NHRC said “Pastor Joshua is not above the law. That was why he has been taken to court. What we oppose is what looks like a sectarian plot to draw conclusions even when the legal processes are yet to be concluded. This raises the public fear that Pastor Joshua is a target of some influential individuals based on personal interests. They want to destroy him and all the good work he has been doing especially meeting the needs of the people when relevant authorities have failed.”

The group said Pastor Joshua has made tremendous contributions to promoting the right to life and living by millions of Nigerians and black people all over the world. The NHRC urges Prof Soyinka to visit the Church and the aspect of the Church’s humanitarian services which is the best in Nigeria. The group said all victims of the unfortunate collapsed building were touched by the Church in ways the grieving families will never forget in a country where victims of accidents are left to nurse their wounds.

“He has brought hope to millions of despairing population all over the world. He has brought respect to Nigeria. He has shown that something good can come out of Africa. His worship centre inspires millions of people against violence, gives inspirational speeches in the face of despondency, provides psychological treatment to millions of Nigerians in trauma occasioned by the harsh realities of life in Nigeria. He is one of the greatest phenomenons that have ever come out of Africa. This is apart from the fact that he has provided jobs for millions of people in need.”

The group said millions of people come to Nigeria from Europe, Asia and America for the simple reason of coming to the church .Many foreigners would never think of coming to Nigeria is not for the Church.

NHRC said all these achievements do not make him to be above the law but that they should also be taken into consideration by those bent on destroying his name.

Religion / Nigeria Won’t Break Up, TB Joshua Assures [VIDEO] by Temotala: 3:00pm On May 09, 2021
Prophet TB Joshua has released the video of a prophecy for Nigeria which he gave almost seven years ago on July 27, 2014.

In the video, the Synagogue, Church of All Nations (SCOAN) General Overseer predicted that Nigeria would be covered by a cloud of “crisis, murder, killings, destruction” but would not break up.

“Nothing will happen to Nigeria. Nigeria will remain one,” Joshua assured the congregation during a service at SCOAN.

The video’s release comes amid sustained calls for Nigeria’s breakup by proponents of a Biafran government and other aggrieved persons and organisations, following worsening terrorism, kidnapping and banditry.

“Beyond this crisis, Nigeria is beautiful. Your prayer now is that you should witness it so that this crisis will not take you away,” the cleric declared.

“It is decreed that this nation will be reckoned with as a powerful nation,” he continued, adding that his prophecy would become a point of reference many years later.

However, he warned members of the ‘political class’ of impending repercussions for their contributions to the crisis.

“Huge trouble is coming and no human being will withstand it unless you don’t have hand in that trouble,” he boldly declared.

“There is a cloud that covers Nigeria… the cloud of crisis, murder, killings, destruction covers Nigeria. The cloud will go; Nigeria will remain.”

Joshua then questioned the rationale of those who are “interested in power that cannot give them peace.”

“Power without peace is powerless…The manner you have that power will determine whether there will be peace in it,” he counselled.

“The power is in the heart, not in the gun, not in the White house or Aso Rock. If you are living in the White House without power in the heart, it is like you are living in the bush,” he further added.

Calling on his followers to pray for Nigeria, the cleric insisted that Nigeria would not break up. “I want to assure you: Nigeria – nothing will happen to Nigeria. Nigeria will remain one!”

Speaking on the spate of insecurity fuelled by banditry and terrorism, Joshua revealed: “They have infiltrated everywhere. There is no section or department in this country that these people are not there. It has become a professional job.”

He stressed that protection only lies in God. “There is no one that is secured by power and might and gun that they cannot get unless those whom God protects – because they have infiltrated everywhere. They are no more inside the bush; they are everywhere.”

Joshua called on the ‘political class’ to eschew differences and “discuss about the security and oneness of this country.

“There will be answer if they can pay the price, put their political agenda behind and discuss the unity of this nation,” he stressed, describing the situation of Nigeria as “very sensitive”.

“Quote me once again – security, police, guns, soldiers cannot protect anyone again because everywhere is infiltrated,” he concluded before praying for God’s will to be done.

In a short introduction to the clip “from the archives”, Joshua explained more about the timing of prophecy.

“Prophecy is given when there is no situation on the ground,” he explained during a service on Friday 7th May 2021, adding a prophet would declare ‘it will rain’ when there was no sign of rain in the atmosphere.

During the #EndSARS protests that engulfed Nigeria last year, a video of Joshua forewarning of a revolution spearheaded by youth surfaced and subsequently went viral.

Politics / TB Joshua Speaks On Pastor Dare Adeboye's Death, Prays For RCCG by Temotala: 12:06pm On May 08, 2021
TB Joshua holds ‘moment of silence’ over Adeboye’s son’s death

Pastor TB Joshua has condoled with Pastor Enoch Adeboye and the Redeemed Christian Church Of God (RCCG) over the sudden death of Pastor Dare Adeboye.

The Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) founder also led his congregation in observing a moment of silence in honour of the memory of the deceased.

“God does not need our permit; God’s time is the best,” Joshua stated in a live service broadcast on Friday, May 7, 2021, on Emmanuel TV.

“It is not how long we live that matters but how well we live,” he continued in the short condolence message also uploaded to his social media accounts.

“Pray that the Holy Spirit, our Comforter, will strengthen the family and the ministry. Let us observe a moment of silence in remembrance of Pastor Dare Adeboye,” Joshua concluded.

RCCG announced that burial activities for Dare, the third son of Pastor Enoch Adeboye who passed away in his sleep on Wednesday, will commence tomorrow.

TB Joshua and Adeboye are among Nigeria’s most well-known and influential pastors.

However, Adeboye has publicly said in the past he would not worship in Joshua’s church.

Religion / OPINION: The Dangerous Line Between Tolerance & Censorship (YouTube & TB Joshua) by Temotala: 1:34pm On Apr 22, 2021
YOUTUBE WALKS DANGEROUS LINE BETWEEN TOLERANCE AND CENSORSHIP IN ITS DECISION TO TERMINATE CHANNEL OF FAMED NIGERIAN PASTOR TB JOSHUA!

YouTube recently made the decision to terminate the channel of prominent Nigerian pastor and televangelist TB Joshua, claiming that his content repeatedly violated the company’s hate speech policy pertaining to discrimination based on sexual orientation.

In a statement made Wednesday to Today News Africa, a YouTube spokesperson Ivy Choi said TB Joshua’s channel, which had amassed over 1.8 million subscribers and 600 million views, repeatedly violated community guidelines pertaining to hate speech. In particular, she was referring to videos in which the prominent pastor claimed to cure congregants of their homosexuality.

“In accordance with our long standing three strikes system, we terminated the channel The Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) for repeatedly violating our hate speech policy. Our Community Guidelines clearly prohibit content promoting violence or hatred against protected groups based on attributes such as sexual orientation,” the statement said.

Joshua responded to the labelling of his content as hate speech, stating, “Our mission is to share the love of God with everyone – irrespective of race or religion – and we strongly oppose all forms of hate speech! We have had a long and fruitful relationship with YouTube and believe this decision was made in haste.”

Many feel that it is a slippery slope to begin policing people’s actions or beliefs under the ambiguously defined label of “hate speech.” At what point does rhetoric become hate speech and stop being protected under the umbrella of religious freedom?

In the video that is most responsible for triggering the closure of Joshua’s channel, he “casts out the demon of homosexuality” from congregants.

The video’s description read, “God hates sin, not sinners. When the Bible says, ‘Do not judge so that you will not be judged’, it means we should hate sin, not the sinner because sinners can change… We should hate the act, not the people because our battle is not against flesh and blood but against the spirit beings that cause all these acts.”

While YouTube is meant to be a platform where creators can openly share ideas and express themselves, many have taken TB Joshua’s ban as an affront to the teachings of Christianity and an infringement on free expression.

Community guidelines are an important aspect of any social media platform such as YouTube, and representatives of the company have repeatedly asserted that hate is not welcome on the popular video platform.

Clearly, heinous offenses such as the incitation of violence or the promotion of child trafficking should have no place on YouTube. Yet, the label of hate speech can feel loosely defined, all-encompassing, and open to subjective interpretation. There is much disagreement about the extent to which offensive content should be tolerated and at what point free speech turns into hate speech.

Should a preacher be banned for openly practicing his religious beliefs just because they are offensive or controversial? What is the line that preachers cannot cross without their rhetoric being labeled hateful and impermissible? This raises many concerns amongst religious communities about whether pastors can be punished for merely reading the teachings of Scripture.

It can be difficult to achieve the right balance between appropriately monitoring hate speech and simultaneously promoting the free expression of religious beliefs. For instance, how can YouTube best administer its community guidelines to make sure that conservative Christians and members of the LGBT community both feel welcome and respected on the platform?

A platform with 2.3 billion users around the globe, YouTube is a subsidiary of Google and holds immense power and influence all over the world. The decision of what type of content should be allowed or banned from being posted on the platform is incredibly significant and impactful worldwide.

If YouTube were to disproportionately police conservative content, it would be accused of imposing the company’s ideological perspective on its users. Therefore, conservative Christians ought to be entitled to the same freedom of expression as more liberal content creators regardless of whether or not YouTube agrees with their perspectives.

YouTube spokesperson Ivy Choi asserted that all content creators are held to the same standard, saying of the decision to terminate TB Joshua’s channel for hate speech, “We enforce this policy consistently, regardless of speaker, nationality or religious affiliation.”

There is much controversy and disagreement surrounding the policies by which YouTube monitors content. If the organization wants to promote tolerance, it can be difficult to strike the right balance between respecting religious freedom and simultaneously protecting the interests of people groups.

While making sure that all users feel welcome on YouTube regardless of race, religion, or sexual orientation is one of the company’s top concerns, it is no easy feat to pull off. Protecting the interests of one group sometimes means taking protections away from another group, leaving YouTube performing a never-ending balancing act.

There are many practical challenges for a company like YouTube, which is headquartered in California, United States but has grown to immense popularity worldwide. This provides for additional difficulties in monitoring global content, given the religious and cultural differences between different parts of the world. Throughout Nigeria and much of Africa, homosexuality is currently punishable by law.

As the world reacts to the removal of TB Joshua’s channel and many disagree about whether or not it was justified, the pastor urged listeners Friday to “be strong” and said, “I got to know what happened to YouTube when I saw the viewers complaining… I want you to help me pray for YouTube… Don’t see them the other way around; see them as friends.”

Religion / “Pray For YouTube!” - TB Joshua Officially Reacts To Emmanuel TV Ban! by Temotala: 12:10pm On Apr 19, 2021

In the aftermath of the news that YouTube has suspended TB Joshua’s popular channel Emmanuel TV, the cleric has reacted to the development, describing it as a “blessing” and calling on his followers to “pray for YouTube”.

“That is the work of God! It is like honey; wherever it drops, insects seek and find it,” Joshua stated during a ‘Partnership Meeting’ held on Friday 19th 2021.

“What happened is a blessing. I want you to help me pray for YouTube. Don’t see them the other way around; see them as friends,” he added, stressing that many discovered his ministry through the video-sharing website.

Continuing his message the following day, the cleric added that such situations should be “expected” by believers.

“Whatever we are going through is to prepare us for the future… If you want to be strong, you need hard times to be strong. My message to the viewers all over the world - our struggle makes us stronger,” he counselled.

“Every response - take it to God. Every response - take it for prayer. The channel we are talking about, Emmanuel TV, is a Heavenly channel. This is not a worldly channel,” he calmly concluded in a video uploaded to a new channel named ‘Official TB Joshua’.

Emmanuel TV had over 1.8 million subscribers at the time of its suspension and its content had been viewed over 600 million times.

A UK-based media organisation, openDemocracy, revealed it had reported Joshua’s channel to YouTube over several videos in which he prayed for those with ‘same sex attraction’.

In response, YouTube terminated the channel, stating the videos violated their policies on ‘Hate Speech’.

The news of the suspension made headlines in international media including BBC and New York Daily Times.

The contentious decision led to an outcry from Joshua’s supporters, who have started several online petitions calling for Emmanuel TV’s reinstatement by YouTube.

The Nigerian-American Press Association (NAPA) faulted Google for the decision, describing it as “discriminatory” and calling on YouTube to restore the channel and “tender an unreserved apology to The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations”.

Religion / REVEALED: TB Joshua Banned On YouTube For 'Casting Out Homosexual Demon'! by Temotala: 11:49am On Apr 16, 2021
A UK-based media organisation ‘openDemocracy’ has claimed responsibility for the sudden closure of Pastor TB Joshua’s popular YouTube Channel Emmanuel TV, which had over 1,800,000 subscribers and 600,000,000 views.

In an article published to their website titled, ‘YouTube closes African channel promoting televangelist’s violent conversion therapy’, Kerry Cullinan explains how the American video-sharing site terminated Emmanuel TV “in response to our enquiries about TB Joshua’s controversial exorcisms”.

According to the report, the channel posted at least seven clips showing “the charismatic Christian televangelist engaging in exorcism to ‘cure’ gay and lesbian congregants of their sexual orientation by casting out ‘the demon of homosexuality’.”

Cullinan, however, acknowledges that after the Nigerian cleric’s prayers, the individuals concerned all testified that they no longer experienced same-sex attraction.

"YouTube’s Community Guidelines prohibit hate speech and we remove flagged videos and comments that violate these policies. In this case we have terminated the channel,” a YouTube spokesperson told openDemocracy after they reported Joshua to the social media giant.

In his statement announcing the suspension, Joshua refuted the allegations of 'Hate Speech'. "Our mission is to share the love of God with everyone - irrespective of race or religion - and we strongly oppose all forms of hate speech," he wrote on Twitter.

In the description of the video which triggered the suspension, the cleric states, “God hates sin, not sinners. When the Bible says, ‘Do not judge so that you will not be judged’, it means we should hate sin, not the sinner because sinners can change… We should hate the act, not the people because our battle is not against flesh and blood but against the ‘spirit beings’ that cause all these acts.”

The announcement of Emmanuel TV’s removal has continued to elicit backlash from the pastor’s teeming supporters who have taken to social media to vent their indignation.

“How can praying for someone who freely came to your church to ask for God’s help with same-sex attraction now be classified as ‘Hate Speech’?” fumed Jennifer Ayre in a comment on Joshua’s official Facebook Page. “This is an affront to Christians worldwide!”

“I think it’s because YouTube is not making any money from Emmanuel TV because it’s the largest channel which doesn’t monetise its content,” asserted Hakeem Oladiran, referring to Joshua’s stance to not allow adverts on his clips, promote merchandise or engage in fund-raising campaigns.

"They can suspend the YouTube channel but they cannot suspend the truth," tweeted Adey Henrietta, calling on Emmanuel TV to launch its own social media platform instead.

For two days, YouTube’s official Facebook Page has been inundated with requests to restore the popular Christian channel and complaints about the suspension.

openDemocracy, which describes itself as an “independent global media organisation” whose projects include championing “women’s and LGBTIQ voices”, also revealed they reported Joshua’s activities to Facebook and DSTV, which hosts Emmanuel TV on satellite in Africa.

Joshua's Facebook Page, which has over 5.6 million followers, remains active although the company stated certain videos had been removed after openDemocracy's queries.

Religion / TB Joshua's YouTube Channel Emmanuel TV Suspended For Alleged 'Hate Speech'! by Temotala: 1:31pm On Apr 15, 2021
Emmanuel TV, the YouTube channel belonging to Pastor TB Joshua of The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) in Lagos, Nigeria, has been suspended for allegedly propagating ‘hate speech’.

The channel, which had over 1,800,000 subscribers and 600,000,000 views before suspension, was among the largest in Nigeria and reportedly the most watched Christian ministry ever on the video-sharing platform.

In the announcement of the suspension on their official Facebook Page, the ministry stated: “Emmanuel TV’s mission is to share the love of God with everyone – irrespective of race or religion – and we strongly oppose all forms of hate speech!”

It added that the Christian network enjoyed “a long and fruitful relationship with YouTube” and believed “this decision was made in haste”.

The announcement led to public outcry from Joshua’s followers who vented their frustrations on social media about the suspension.

“I have followed SCOAN and Emmanuel TV for 18 years and not once have I encountered any form of hate speech,” Suzanne Mare wrote to YouTube’s official Facebook Page. “I find your censorship extremely disturbing!”

“Dear YouTube,” wrote Mr Mutepfe on Twitter. “Emmanuel TV has done nothing but spread love… Not a single day has the channel promoted hate or prejudice towards any race, gender, colour or creed.”

“I had depression and attempted suicide twice but after watching Emmanuel TV and realising how much God loves me, my life was saved,” Rita Machipanda emotionally wrote on Facebook, pleading with YouTube to restore the channel.

“I have nothing again to watch on YouTube,” lamented Mr Gumwesh, adding that the American video-sharing platform would lose a significant number of subscribers if the channel was not reinstated.

Another user, Ione Malone, announced on Twitter he had started an online petition to see the channel’s restoration.

YouTube had earlier awarded Emmanuel TV a ‘Gold Creator Award’ for surpassing 1,000,000 subscribers, an achievement which attracted commendation from the company’s CEO, Susan Wojcicki.

Religion / Man Blinded After Calling Unknown Number, Healed By TB Joshua’s Anointing Water by Temotala: 2:01pm On Apr 02, 2021
A Twitter used named ‘Tom Nwagbo’ has narrated a shocking experience after his friend was temporarily blinded after returning the call of an unknown number.

According to Nwagbo, when a friend was in his house, he “saw a missed video call” and “immediately called back”.

Merely seconds later, he began hysterically shouting, ‘My eyes!’ Nwagbo initially thought it was a joke but grew concerned as his friend, who he said was married with children, was unable to open his eyes.

His friend revealed what he had seen on the brief video call was a “shrine” and when “immediately he switched it off, he could not open his eyes”.

Realising the spiritual undertones of the strange scenario, Tom counselled his friend to call his pastor for prayers – but the bizarre blindness continued.

“I now went for the Morning Water from Prophet TB Joshua and prayed and sprayed his eyes,” Nwagbo continued. “To God be the glory, he regained his vision!”

When the duo tried to identify the strange number that called via the application TruCaller, no name appeared, lending credence to his speculations it was some form of ‘spiritual attack’.

Nwagbo ended his tweets by calling for caution from the general public, especially when receiving calls from unknown numbers.

Religion / One Year After SCOAN's Closure, 60% Of Hotels In Ikotun Shut Down! by Temotala: 1:39pm On Mar 26, 2021
ONE year after the founder and Senior Pastor of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) Prophet T.B. Joshua, closed down the church in order to meet the government’s directive on COVID-19 pandemic, hospitality and ancillary services that depend on pilgrims and tourists to the church for their patronage are on the verge of extinction.

According to hospitality operators in Ikotun, 60 per cent of the accommodation facilities in the area have shut down sending thousands of workers into the labour market.

Even though the SCOAN has put in place all the necessary health precautions in line with the COVID-19 protocols,   Prophet T.B. Joshua has insisted he will only re-open the church when directed by God.

However, the continuous closure has caused so much hardship to the hospitality operators in Ikotun and the environs and they are hoping that the church will reopen as soon as possible.

Chief Sunny Ozumba, an owner of a hotel and a pilgrims’ hostel in Ikotun, who commented on the situation said the operators were in dire condition, “Your guess is as good as mine. You must have guessed that we are roasting. I am thinking of relocating. I am thinking of relocating because the coronavirus is not abating and the government is not telling us anything that is important to us. “The church is mindful of the current situation plus the social distance guideline and so are cautious of taking decisions. And the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) is such that if it opens, some people will start disseminating information that people should come over for the cure of COVID-19 and all that.

“Even if the Man of God tells them don’t come, they will still come. I think he is mindful of the people’s well-being honestly, but the situation is not to our own economic interest.”

Another hotelier while commenting on the situation said “We survived other crises including the Ebola crisis, but we need God and the government’s help to survive the current situation. There is so much hunger around this area. Our source of livelihood is temporarily gone. We don’t know what to do.

Speaking further on the closure, Ozumba said “Well, we have those whose main source of clientele is accommodating pilgrims that visit the SCOAN only or mostly. I don’t know about others, but for us who are involved in accommodating pilgrims to Synagogue, we are having it tough.”

On whether the hoteliers are having any form of clientele from local pilgrims, he said “It is the same situation, except in the case of the local pilgrims, you can see one in a hundred sauntering in, but for international pilgrims, it is totally zero.”

But, there is hope. Without the hope we would have gone totally extinct. I think the church may not open its door until the virus fizzles out,” Ozumba said.

He lamented that despite the difficulty and situation, they have not received any form of palliative of help from either the state or Federal Government “During the first phase of the virus, I never knew some people from either the state or Federal Government have my details.

“They sent me a letter saying that I was going to have some palliatives. I was hoping and waiting, nothing happened. So, I shared my experience with a group I belong to. They told me that I should either wait there until I die of hunger, or go and find what to do. These days, the only things I get on my phone are vaccination messages. So, there has been no palliative of any kind.”

Religion / My Phone Call With President Yar’adua – TB Joshua by Temotala: 5:00pm On Jan 30, 2021
Founder, Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, Prophet T.B Joshua has revealed what transpired between him and late President Umaru Yar’Adua some years ago when the former president called him.

Joshua, in a post on his verified Facebook wall said Yar’Adua called him to say he would honour him with the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR).

MY PHONE CALL WITH PRESIDENT YAR’ADUA - PROPHET TB JOSHUA
“If not the condemnation and persecution, do you think I would be at the level I am today? I know the value of my trials. The value is so great; they have made the whole world to know me. It’s a free advert. You can see there is no signpost or signboard of The SCOAN since the beginning of this church. You are my advert; you are my signpost. The question people used to ask me - why is there no advert or signboard? You cannot find it anywhere. Why? Because God has blessed me with free adverts.

It takes the spirit of foolishness to hear something without going there to confirm. Everyone that God destined to be a leader, when they hear something - it may take time - but they will find a way to confirm what they hear. In the process of confirmation, they find out the truth. This ministry has been here for the past twenty years. If there is anyone out there who says he’s a man of wisdom and understanding and still not confirmed - it means something is wrong. Your confirmation brought you here. You are not just here; it’s what you heard in the past. In the process of confirming your information, you found yourself here. So, the free advert is so gracious. It’s a big blessing to me.

It was this free advert that brought about Emmanuel TV. I was on the Nigerian national television and local television. When the miracles were showing, because of me, your former President said they should remove the miracles. They stopped miracle programmes on your national and local television. The body that guides the television stations in Nigeria enacted a law that no miracle pastor should be shown. It was because of me, not because of anybody else. That brought about Emmanuel TV!

Let me tell you about the phone call I had with late President Yar’Adua. He is a great man. I received a phone call - ‘I will give you an honour, OFR’. This is a man who did not share the same faith with me - he is a Muslim man. People are unaware of this because I don’t put it on my name. When you see TB Joshua, you will not see OFR. I said I am honouring my nation - so I sent my wife to receive the award.

Sometimes when you are saying, ‘Northerner, Southerner, Easterner’ - the issue is not that. LOVE. Nigeria is one. This is a man from the Northern Part of Nigeria; he is a real Muslim man. We have never met; he never invited me for prayer. But he got to know and monitor all that is happening at The SCOAN. I could remember he said to me - after looking at the analysis of pilgrimage to this country from each port of entry in Nigeria - he realised I am the biggest source that attracts foreigners. This is the first time you are hearing this from me. Your oil could not attract such visitors - but anointing attracts visitors.

You talk of North, you talk of South, you talk of Christians, you talk of religious people, you talk of Muslims - LOVE is the greatest. Where is love? The Bible says love your neighbour as yourself. Your neighbour could be your enemy, could be a pagan, a religious man or a Muslim - the Bible says love them all! Love is the greatest. It means love is greater than everything you practice. The name of Jesus is LOVE.

Is it Muslims condemning me? Are they the ones speaking against me? Are they the ones saying you should not come here? Where there is love, you will come to me and I will go to you. You want to know what I am doing and I want to know what you are doing. Love permits us to do findings. That is the characteristic of love. Find out the truth and the truth will set you free!”

- Prophet TB Joshua (7th April 2013)

Religion / TB Joshua Recalls Unexpected Phone Call From Late President Yar’adua by Temotala: 6:29pm On Jan 27, 2021
Prophet T.B Joshua of the Synagogue Church of all Nations (SCOAN) has recalled with fond memories the moment he received an unexpected phone call from former Nigerian president, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, whom he described as a “great” Muslim man.

Joshua said despite being a Muslim, the late Yar’Adua recognized his evangelical calling and honoured him with the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) merit award in 2008.

“Let me tell you about the phone call I had with late President Yar’Adua. He is a great man. I received a phone call – ‘I will give you an honour, OFR’. This is a man who did not share the same faith with me – he is a Muslim man,” the cleric wrote in a Facebook post.

Joshua described Yar’Adua’s award to him as a gesture of love, which he said exemplifies the kindness embedded in the former president’s heart.

He said the late Yar’Adua did not consider his religion or ethnic background before honouring him with the national merit award.

“Sometimes when you are saying, ‘Northerner, Southerner, Easterner’ – the issue is not that. LOVE. Nigeria is one. This is a man from the Northern Part of Nigeria; he is a real Muslim man. We have never met; he never invited me for prayer. But he got to know and monitor all that is happening at The SCOAN. I could remember he said to me – after looking at the analysis of pilgrimage to this country from each port of entry in Nigeria – he realised I am the biggest source that attracts foreigners. This is the first time you are hearing this from me. Your oil could not attract such visitors – but anointing attracts visitors.”

Joshua also recalled how a former president banned Nigerian television stations from airing miracles, alleging that the ban which took place in 2004 was specifically targeted at him.

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), which regulates broadcasting in Nigeria, had issued the ban during the tenure of a Christian former president, Olusegun Obasanjo.

Joshua said, “I was on the Nigerian national television and local television. When the miracles were showing, because of me, your former President said they should remove the miracles. They stopped miracle programmes on your national and local television. The body that guides the television stations in Nigeria enacted a law that no miracle pastor should be shown. It was because of me, not because of anybody else. That brought about Emmanuel TV!”

The cleric said regardless of what religion or ethnic background people come from, love should guide their actions as it was impossible to successfully practice whatever religion without love in people’s hearts.

“You talk of North, you talk of South, you talk of Christians, you talk of religious people, you talk of Muslims – LOVE is the greatest. Where is love? The Bible says love your neighbour as yourself. Your neighbour could be your enemy, could be a pagan, a religious man or a Muslim – the Bible says love them all! Love is the greatest. It means love is greater than everything you practice. The name of Jesus is LOVE,” he said.

Religion / Check Out The Most Watched Christian Television Channel In The World by Temotala: 10:14pm On Jan 10, 2021
Any Nigerian reading this article right now is eager to know who is the owner of the most watched Christian television channel in the world is at the moment.

It didn't occur to me that a Nigerian will be close, not to talk of becoming the most watched Christian television channel in the world.

At the back of my mind, the two people I thought of is Bishop Oyedepo of Winners Chapel or Pastor Chris Oyakhilome of Christ Embassy – but let me shock you that both are not close to it.

Emmanuel TV owned by TB Joshua of Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) is the most watched Christian television channel in the whole world.

Emmanuel TV is a Christian television network with headquarters in Lagos, Nigeria. Founded by T.B. Joshua, Pastor of The Synagogue, Church of All Nations (SCOAN), in Lagos, Nigeria.

It is also the most subscribed Christian ministry channel on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/emmanueltv) worldwide with well over 1,800,000 subscribers.

The church received more visitors in a year as pilgrims than Israel.

Celebrities / Miss New York, Beautiful American Model, Testifies Of TB Joshua Videos! by Temotala: 10:12pm On Jan 05, 2021
Nicole Kulovany, an American model and winner of Miss New York, has shared a testimony on her Facebook Page about the ministry of Nigerian Pastor TB Joshua.

Kulovany, who has also featured on several American reality television programmes, shared a video of Joshua’s documentary, emphasising a scene where the Nigerian cleric confronted a group of armed robbers who came to his church.

“I have a testimony to share,” she wrote on her official Facebook Page on January 3rd 2021.

“Last night, I knew I would be tested walking outside alone late at night. As I left a gas station with Fiji water, a car pulled out and started following me down a dark alley,” she explained, clarifying that the driver’s intention was clearly to ‘follow’ her.

“I immediately turned around and started walking straight towards the car’s headlights,” she continued, adding that seeing her bold actions, “the car started backing up”.

Signalling the attention of people nearby, Nicole walked back towards the gas station and saw the car hurriedly enter a nearby field and race off.

“My confidence in being protected is in God as I had been deep in Scripture and praying,” she explained.

Referring back to the Emmanuel TV clips, she concluded: “Watch Prophet TB Joshua grab their gun. This is confidence that the Holy Spirit is in you and protecting you.”

In a post several months earlier to her 42,000 Instagram followers, Nicole had called on disgraced Hillsong Pastor Carl Lentz to watch Joshua’s “deliverance services” after he was fired for committing adultery.

Nicole has shared many clips from Joshua’s popular YouTube Channel Emmanuel TV on her Facebook page.

With over 1.8 million YouTube subscribers, Emmanuel TV is the world’s most watched Christian ministry on the video-sharing platform.

One of the prophesy if prophet tb Joshua is that, this year is a year of humble anc humility.

True - TB Joshua said of 2020: "This year will be a year of HUMILITY. This year, the Lord will humble us with our challenges. Challenges can be affliction, arrogance, pride, wickedness or bad habits. To humble us with these is for those things to destroy us or expose us. Let us move closer to God."

Religion / USA Supreme Court Decision Confirms TB Joshua Prophecy by Temotala: 10:09pm On Nov 26, 2020
The decision of the US Supreme Court to block further coronavirus restrictions in New York State places of worship – established after a deciding vote by new Supreme Court Judge, Amy Coney Barrett – correlates with Nigerian Prophet TB Joshua’s viral prophecy on the American elections.

In his prophecy aired on November 1st 2020, the cleric had parabolically revealed Joe Biden would emerge victorious in the hotly contested elections, stating that he saw the “inauguration of the new President”.

Calling on Christians not to worry about the election outcome – which he said would go contrary to their expectations - Joshua explained, “The joy is that the new Supreme Court Judge, Amy Coney Barrett, will be an instrument of check.”

Barrett’s deciding vote in favour of the religious groups marked one of the first consequential actions on the court of President Donald Trump's new conservative appointee.

In contrast, in two previous cases this year before the death of liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the Supreme Court, on 5-4 votes, turned away similar requests by churches in Nevada and California.

Legal analysts have conjectured Barrett’s decision is likely to the first of many which would favour ‘conservative Christian principles’, as she is expected to remain “an instrument of check” throughout Biden’s administration.

In his prophecy, Joshua had also revealed there would be “pockets of resistance” to the election result but “nothing will change” the voice of the voters.

With Trump’s legal challenges to the election facing mounting disappointment, his reluctant admission to allow the official transition process to kick off and Biden’s victory officially certified in most of the disputed states, the “pockets of resistance” show no signs of producing any change in the outcome.

Celebrities / "TB Joshua Delivered Me From Dogs, Evil Spirits" - Ghanaian Reggae Star by Temotala: 4:28pm On Nov 14, 2020
Famous Ghanaian reggae singer Shasha Marley has said once in his life, it took the deliverance he received from Nigerian Charismatic Pastor Temitope Balogun Joshua to become free from evil spirits that haunted him for long.

“I go to sleep and I see myself being chased by dogs and animals and all that. What’s happening to me Shasha Marley? It was something I experienced along the way. I had some weird dreams which I can’t even explain. I dream of old grannies, dead bodies, and a lot of them," Shahsa Marley narrated his ordeal on Pure FM in an interview with Hammer Nti on the show 'Hammer Time' monitored by MyNewsGH.com.

This was the first time the musician had such an experience in his life according to him.

He revealed that it was during these times in his life that the founder of Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) Temitope Balogun Joshua popularly known as TB Joshua came to Ghana unannounced but could not meet him.

Shasha Marley continued that he finally met TB Joshua in Ghana when the preacher returned. TB Joshua, according to the musician, prayed for him. He was subsequently delivered but had the experience again after three months and it was worse.

According to the “Maata Family” hitmaker, he got a call from the man of God at one midnight when he was still suffering from sleeplessness and was asked to fly to Nigeria.

“I couldn’t sleep after talking to him that night. So early morning, the next day, I went straight to the church where they bought the ticket for me and went to Lagos," Shasha Marley said.

“He kept me with him for three weeks, he sent me to his prayer mountain three times and prayed for me”, he said. “For so long, I couldn’t sleep at night but that first night, I slept like a baby. It was then that I become relieved."

Religion / TB Joshua's Prophecy On The US Election 2020 by Temotala: 7:36pm On Nov 07, 2020

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPhTOtbRerk

The historic emergence of Joe Biden as the 46th American President and the circumstances surrounding his closely contested election with Donald Trump were ‘prophesied’ by prominent Nigerian Prophet TB Joshua.

On December 28th 2019, Joshua included a message regarding the American election in his prophecy for 2020 which he termed ‘The Year Of Humility’.

"Approach to the security issue will affect the candidates and swing voters in the next election,” the cleric declared. “It will be tough in the election. They should pray against a recount. It may be too tight."

Subsequently, on November 1st 2020 – two days before the election – Joshua spoke with further clarity regarding the election, plainly stating that he saw “a new President”.

“We Christians would have loved it to go the way we wanted,” he admitted, referencing the huge support for Trump among evangelical Christians.

“But the Bible says it is never proper to base our faith on our improvement after prayer. We should not worry. The joy is that the new Supreme Court Judge, Amy Coney Barrett, will be an instrument of check,” he continued.

“There is likely going to be pockets of resistance here and there but nothing will change. Let me reserve what I am seeing until the inauguration of the new president,” Joshua concluded.

The “pockets of resistance” evidently refer to Trump’s stubborn insistence that the results were fraudulent and his refusal to accept Biden’s mandate.

Trump’s legal team have already indicated they will insist on a recount in several battleground states, equally confirming Joshua’s prediction of a recount after a tight election in his 2020 prophecy ten months ago.

"What is happening in the American election is as a result of the power in the tongue,” Joshua also stated in the prophecy, quoting where the Bible says in Proverbs 18:21 that the “tongue can either work for us or against us - death and life lie in the tongue”.

In confirmation, most analysts agreed Trumps divisive and often erratic rhetoric contributed significantly to his loss in the polls.

Intriguingly, almost all major ‘prophetic voices’ in America and around the world unanimously predicted Trump’s re-election.

“First of all, I want to say without question, Trump is going to win the election,” prophesied Pat Robertson, the founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network on October 20th 2020.

Other prominent clerics who prophesied Trump’s victory are John Hagee, Paula White, Sid Roth, Chris Oyakhilome and Sadhu Sundar Selvaraj.

The video of Joshua’s prophecy regarding Biden’s historic electoral victory has been viewed over one million times on YouTube and Facebook since it was uploaded on 2nd November 2020.

Religion / US 2020 Election - Is TB Joshua's Prophecy On Trump, Biden Coming To Pass? by Temotala: 10:06pm On Nov 04, 2020

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPhTOtbRerk:

On November 1st 2020, Prophet TB Joshua gave this prophecy regarding the American election

"What is happening in the American election is as a result of the power in the tongue. The word we speak determines the life we enjoy (Proverbs 6:2). The tongue can either work for us or against us - death and life lie in the tongue (Proverbs 18:21).

We Christians would have loved it to go the way we wanted. But the Bible says it is never proper to base our faith on our improvement after prayer. We should not worry. The joy is that the new Supreme Court Judge, Amy Coney Barrett, will be an instrument of check.

Finally, let us learn how to believe that God hears us when we pray - it is a much greater blessing. There is likely going to be pockets of resistance here and there but nothing will change. Let me reserve what I am seeing until the inauguration of the new president."

On December 28th 2019, he also prophesied regarding the American elections: "Approach to the security issue will affect the candidates and swing voters in the next election. It will be tough in the election. They should pray against a recount. It may be too tight."

With the announcement that Trump will be demanding a recount in Wisconsin and is calling on the Supreme Court to halt the counting of votes in Pennsylvania alongside the increasingly clear reality that Biden is going to narrowly secure victory via the electoral college, can we conclude that Prophet TB Joshua's prophecy is indeed coming to fulfillment?

The word we speak determines the life we enjoy (Proverbs 6:2). The tongue can either work for us or against us - death and life lie in the tongue (Proverbs 18:21)."

The rhetoric of President Donald Trump indeed calls for concern. for him to claim voter fraud whilst the election tabulation is still ongoing and threaten to enforce the counting is stopped by using the Supreme Court is unprecedented and undemocratic in all ramifications.

Why would he make such a threat unless he had received credible intelligence that the remaining votes being counted would heavily favour Biden and take him to victory?

This is the major problem of Trump - his mouth. This is the first time in American history that a President would make such a reckless statement, especially when the votes are still being counted.

I think I understand now what Prophet TB Joshua meant when he said - "What is happening in the American election is as a result of the power in the tongue. The word we speak determines the life we enjoy (Proverbs 6:2). The tongue can either work for us or against us - death and life lie in the tongue (Proverbs 18:21)."

Having a brief check online, almost all the 'prophets' in America and abroad are predicting a victory for Donald Trump - including Pat Robertson, Kenneth Copeland, John Hagee and Chris Oyakhilome...

However, TB Joshua's prophecy - although not explicitly mentioning his name - seems to suggest a victory for Joe Biden.

How do we relate to this?
