Konohanasakuya-hime

Konohanasakuya-hime, in Japanese mythology, is the blossom-princess and symbol of delicate earthly life. She is the daughter of the mountain god Ohoyamatsumi. She is often considered an avatar of Japanese life, especially since her symbol is the sakura (cherry blossom). Kono-hana is also the goddess of Mount Fuji and all volcanoes.

Isis

Isis is a goddess in Ancient Egyptian religious beliefs, whose worship spread throughout the Greco-Roman world. She was worshipped as the ideal mother and wife as well as the patroness of nature and magic. She was the friend of slaves, sinners, artisans, and the downtrodden, and she listened to the prayers of the wealthy, maidens, aristocrats, and rulers. Isis is often depicted as the mother of Horus, the hawk-headed god of war and protection (although in some traditions Horus's mother was Hathor). Isis is also known as protector of the dead and goddess of children.

Anuket

Religion / The Goddess (female God) And Females In Religion by TerryCarr(m): 1:56pm On Jun 17, 2013
A Goddess is a female Deity found in many animistic/Polytheistic religions in the world. a lot of them are very powerful and some of them are the main god/spirit. post pics and info on goddesses and female spirits around the world grin

Gaia

Gaia was the great mother of all: the primal Greek Mother Goddess; creator and giver of birth to the Earth and all the Universe; the heavenly gods, the Titans and the Giants were born from her union with Uranus (the sky), while the sea-gods were born from her union with Pontus (the sea).

Oya

She is seen in aspects as the warrior-spirit of the wind, lightning, fertility, fire, and magic. She creates hurricanes and tornadoes, and guards the underworld. She is the spirit of tornadoes (which are said to be her whirling skirts as she dances), lightning, earthquakes, and any kind of destruction. Beyond destruction, Oya is the spirit of change, transition, and the chaos that often brings it about. Her association with the marketplace, and more specifically with the gates of cemeteries (as opposed to the entire underworld), reveals her in her aspect as facilitator of transition. Oyá, when danced, often has a horse tail. Her clothes have all the colors but black. She has a face expression of really big and open eyes, and she breathes and blows up her chins, and often screams.

Amaterasu

is a part of the Japanese myth cycle and also a major deity of the Shinto religion. She is the goddess of the sun, but also of the universe. The name Amaterasu derived from Amateru meaning "shining in heaven." The meaning of her whole name, Amaterasu-ōmikami, is "the great august kami (Gama or God) who shines in the heaven". The Emperor of Japan is said to be a direct descendant of Amaterasu.

JesusisLord85:

Yes they worshipped the gods of the people who used to live in the land of Canaan, the people God told them to overthrow. God was angry because of this idolatry. The ghanaians and the yorubas are the same people. But to the untrained ear, their languages have no connection. A linguist will tell you there is a link. My point is, over 2000 years, much would have happened to alter dialects etc. I am not an expert in that area. BUT the book I mention "the Call to the Hebrews" goes into detail about these things. I urge you brother, to consider reading it. If you decide it is all nonsense, that is fine, but I think it brings great insights.

The ones before Jesus fled from the King of Babylon, Nebuchadnesser led one of the greatest empires, he was feared.
The Judeans AFTER Jesus fled in 70ad when the Romans came and destroyed the temple and killed many of the Hebrew people. Many of those found themselves in Egypt, among other places.

One of the references in the book talks about an encounter between a white explorer from europe, and Mohammed Bello.Mohammed Bello told the european man that the yoruba were thought to descend from the land of Canaan, and they migrated to this land, setting up towns everywhere they stopped along the way. So many other countries in Africa will have Hebrews e.g. the Lemba in Zimbabwe. 2000 years is a LONG time to get around.

Shalom smiley

PAGAN 9JA:

similarities:

-dont have man-founder. existed since the formation of the tribes, millions of years ago.
-ethnic religions. you must have a full-blooded ethnic group to belong to one.
-belief in plurality of Higher Powers.
-belief in worship of higher powers through the creations/nature and worship of Spiritual realm through material objects. (idolatory, etc.)
-Ritualism.
-sacrifice.
-belief in basic Pagan concept of balancing of forces.
-Pure SPirituality free from laws/moral issues.
-Same/similar basic Pantheon of Gods.
-combining science with religion, in particular, astronomy and astrology.
-spirit possession, exorcism, masquerading, worship through dance , music, etc.
-combined with the cultural practices of the respective ethnic groups.
-creation myth central to and only explaining the creation of the ethnic group.
a lot of non Islamic/Christian religions in the world are like that so it is not unique but any way shinto still has a lot of differences. Shinto is based on belief in, and worship of, Kami

The best English translation of kami is 'spirits', but this is an over-simplification of a complex concept - kami can be elements of the landscape or forces of nature.

Kami are close to human beings and respond to human prayers. They can influence the course of natural forces, and human events.

Shinto tradition says that there are eight million million kami in Japan.

Not all kami are good - some are thoroughly evil.

The concept of kami is hard to explain.

Shintoists would say that this is because human beings are simply incapable of forming a true understanding of the nature of kami.

To make understanding easier kami are often described as divine beings, as spirits or gods. But kami are not much like the gods of other faiths:

Kami are not divine like the transcendent and omnipotent deities found in many religions.
Kami are not omnipotent.
Kami are not perfect - they sometimes make mistakes and behave badly.
Kami are not inherently different in kind from human beings or nature - they are just a higher manifestation of the life energy... an extraordinary or awesome version.
Kami don't exist in a supernatural universe - they live in the same world as human beings and the world of nature

Kami include the gods that created the universe, but can also include:

The spirits that inhabit many living beings
Some beings themselves
Elements of the landscape, like mountains and lakes
Powerful forces of nature, like storms and earthquakes
human beings who became kami after their deaths
Amaterasu seems to be the greatest of the kami

TerryCar, what are the characteristics of an organized religion?
organized religion works like some kind of government or and organization(hence organized) they are govern by rules and laws and they have religious leaders who lead the people and preach etc. Catholic Church is a great example it is very complex

CAMEROONPRIDE: ^^ of course coming from a western point of view our religions are not organized, in fact according to them we are backwards and primitives, come to think of it aren't they the same who called us uncivilized or without civilization? please our religions don't have to answer europeans standards to b considered as organized .BTW the whole article doesn't even make sense ..BWITI AND IFA(that you ignored) existed before ISLAM and Christianity, how come these religions have suddenly been influenced by Abrahamic religions?

that's way.

and anyway unorganized religions is kind of interesting since not every body does it the same way.
