Politics / Re: NASS Landlords: Lawmakers Who Have Spent 20 Years In Senate, House Of Reps by Texs: 8:51am On Jun 05, 2022 |
Tvoice: Thanks so much for this brilliant piece, I wish you or Nairaland keeps publishing this write up everyday before election day. In developed countries, when a political party failed in government, it is voted out, that's how the Western world became developed, the people don't reward failure with further term. in office, It's what make democracy different from other forms of government and has make political parties to work hard when given opportunities to govern. My concern is PDP didn't reform while as opposition party which western political parties always do. We still have the old system/people there in PDP. I suggest Nigerians can try the parties with new and younger faces to give Nigeria a new direction. 1 Like 1 Share |
Travel / Re: FAAN Identifies Immigration Officers That Stole From A 14 Year Old Girl by Texs: 5:29pm On Mar 18, 2022 |
Returning after a month visit, the immigration woman was asking why my passport was not stamped and that I will need to 'see my oga' Even though I showed her the back of my Nigeria passport with immigration red dated tag, she insisted I "must drop something" then I said, call me your supervisor. That was it. 2 Likes |
Car Talk / Re: LASTMA: Share Your Lastma Experience Here. by Texs: 6:25pm On Jan 27, 2022 |
My advice here is, Nigerian drivers should strive hard and have functional cameras discreetly Installed in their vehicle front and back. In my case I informed the two officers I have evidence that there is no ‘no parking’ sign post and I was ready to follow them all the way to court. I did not Pay a naira. 200K can buy you working camera and installation. |

Travel / Re: The New Scam At Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos By Patrick Nwafor by Texs: 10:36am On Jan 12, 2021 |
I was a victim of similar scam in Isheri area, Lagos on my last visit from abroad, what saved me was some passer-by about three men came aggressively using their phone to record these four scumbags who attacked and enter my vehicle. I was surprised the these scums me and my architect have be asking for explanation from suddenly ran away from my car. You see, it's lack of proper leadership and governance that is responsible for things like this rule by thuggery. It used to be very rampant in Benin City where I'm from till about 4 years ago but, a proper leadership proscribed them and follow it up with law and implementation. |
Health / Re: My Experience With Sleep Paralysis by Texs: 5:50pm On Dec 12, 2020 |
Here in western countries sleep paralysis is a medical condition, at the sleep clinic, you will be asked to reduce your stress level. It should have nothing to do with belief system. There are so much information Online from sleep specialists, Why do we still continue to believe in the so called 'demon' in everything? Check this link. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/sleep-paralysis/ |
Crime / Re: Physically-Challenged Man Accuses Female Soldier Of Beating Him In Ibadan by Texs: 3:39pm On Dec 04, 2020 |
Some incompetent people in ‘authority’ with low self-esteem and value of themselves use their position to dominate others to feel exalted. There are others that bring their home difficulties to their work places. These daily assaults on civilians by uniform personnel in Nigeria will continue until the government and various department and supervisory head start to apply the law by persecuting in court of law any officers who continue to engage in this reprehensible act in the 21st century. |
Politics / Re: Fear Grips Policemen In Edo Over Threats From Jail Breakers by Texs: 1:48pm On Nov 15, 2020 |
What is going on in Edo should not be trivialised, it speak at the root cause of malfunction security apparatus in Nigeria where all the command and control structures are concentrated at the centre. It takes time for intel information to flow and action taken. When the Sapele road prison was broken into, it would have be expected that security in the OKO prison would be re enforced for maximum protection but this was not the case. So who was responsible for this failing, perhaps the person is still occupying his or her office. Because, no one is forced to take responsibility for failing in government, that's why things are not working in Nigeria. Going forward, the same police that have always disobey the IG on several occasion cannot be expected to police Nigeria. Let state government be in total control of the police personnel in their state. State government should as a matter of urgency organise uniform vigilante groups (constables the Edo government is doing now) with command and control structure to collaborate with police and the locals intelligence from citizens. Lastly, all these does not take away the structure of the federal police and intelligence units. The citizen can be asked to contribute to pay for this. It will be a win win for everyone as businesses will thrive, foreign investment will come and jobs will be created. |
Crime / Re: Policeman Arrested As Girlfriend Dies In Lagos Hotel by Texs: 8:33am On Sep 19, 2020 |
The Nigeria state own every citizen the duty to investigate and find out why someone died and inform same to the deceased next of kin. This is a fundamental right of every citizen and no member of any family should be allowed to take this away and it is also to protect the society, my take. |

Properties / Re: Share Your Omo-onile (Landowner's Children) Experience. by Texs: 12:16am On Mar 09, 2020 |
About 8 years ago, I visited my home town in Benin to build a factory in one of my land, some local boys came to disturb, I tried to negotiate proving to them with receipt that, the development levy was already paid to them, they were adamant, I left with my money. Since the coming of this present administration in Edo state, I have developed two plots in the same town without seeing them. The Lagos state government need to enforce the law and apply punitive measures because, it's enforceable just like in Edo state. The government don't seem to realise the damages these 'omo-nile' are doing to the state economy and social cohesion as the status quo is crowding out needed private investors (less taxes to the government & less job creation), it encourage laziness, layabout and criminality among these citizens preventing them from acquiring skills and alternative source of dignified livelihood. 7 Likes 1 Share |
