Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by the1960editor: 11:46am On Jun 16, 2020
Hello,

Please this is another DS 160 Form question.

In the space where they asked who is sponsoring the trip, do they mean the person sponsoring my studies or just the trip abroad?

Thanks in advance for your response.

Good afternoon, FelixBoye

I'd like to ask a question about payment using the app. There's a space where they ask for a date. Is it the date of birth or the date when the passport was issued?

Thank you.

felixboye1:
I made my payment yesterday with gtb app and it was stress-free. Within a minute or 2, you are done.

[qu weote author=AdoChel post=90456764]Hi everyone, hope you're doing fine.

Please has anyone been able to book a visa interview date of recent? Also, is it safe to pay the visa fee via the Gtbank app?

Thank you

To all job seekers,

If you have ever talked to an HR executive, you would know how important it is to have a well-written and edited CV, resume, pitch or cover letter. The truth is that the world is changing fast and companies are no longer interested in micromanaging employees. If you can prove that you’re more coherent than a qualified person with a disjointed, badly written cover letter, you stand a better chance of getting called—and trained on the job. Think we’re making this up? Ask any HR staff.

If you’ve tried several times and haven’t been called for an interview, perhaps it’s time to check your documents. 75% of the time, the way you structure your language goes a long way in persuading the HR team that you’re a decent pick for an interview. You’d be surprised at how fast things can change once you address the grammatical, structural, and punctuation issues in your document.

If you’re done with never getting called and want to ensure that you present a better picture of yourself, we’d advise you to send in your CV, resume, pitch, cover letter and other job-related documents to careereditors.ng@gmail.com. There, our expert editors will proofread and re-structure them within 48 hours.

Here are our services:

Proofreading:
We will correct all punctuation, tense and grammatical errors in your documents. There is no sentence restructuring or rewrite.
1 - 2 pages = N500

Literature / Here's How You Can Cut Your Editing Costs by the1960editor: 5:20pm On May 21, 2019
Dear Author,

We've realized that many authors find editing services to be too expensive, but they don't know how to rework their manuscripts to ensure that they get an excellent story.

If you fall into this category, you could always get your work critiqued (AKA manuscript evaluation). Here, an editor will offer an in-depth analysis of your setting, plot, characters, dialogue, story structure, and other important (or specified) elements of your story. They'll find all the issues and tell you how to fix them. If you're good enough, you can get the work done without an editor.

Manuscript Evaluation costs a fraction of what you'd pay for editing. Why not try that instead?

Want somebody to help you? We're offering evaluations at the following rates:

Manuscripts below 10,000 words -- N2,000
Manuscript between 10,001 to 20,000 words -- N3,500
Manuscripts between 20,001 to 60,000 words --N4,500
Manuscripts between 60,001 to 90,000 words --N6,500
Manuscripts between 90,001 to 120,000 words --N8,000

You'll get a 1000- to 3000-word report for every evaluation you pay for.

Interested? Chat with us on WhatsApp (07067790610)

Emails can also be sent to the1960editor(at)yahoo.com

Thank you.

Please what about editing a non-fiction book. Do you have any time for that.

Hey, Slinkky...

Depends on how many words you have. Can you send a mail with your word count? Also, let me know the type of editing do you need? Proofreading, line editing or substantive editing?

Thank you.

.... so people have mentioned that the first post was too long. This is the koko of the story.

I currently have some time on my hands and can offer free critiques that'll examine the following in your work:

1. Plot (for gaping holes, timeline issues)
2. Characters (to see if they're well rounded, properly built)
3. Dialogue (we're tired of unrealistic speech)
4. Structure (roller coaster arrangement or dope, understandable text?)
5. Audience acceptance

If I see anything that's outrightly outrageous, I'll mention it in the report (between 1500 - 3000 words) I'll send to you. It'll point out glaring problems and tell you how to resolve them. Sometimes, the critique will come as a typed document. Other times, I'll send a voice message.

To get your free critique, please send your manuscript to the1960editor(at)yahoo.com.

Don't trust me and think I want to steal your wonderful manuscript? grin Send the first 40 pages.

Everyone who sends in stuff will get replies within a week. If for some reason I can't read your manuscript, I'll let you know.

With this, I hope I can help someone become the next Chimamanda. We deserve to top those fancy bestselling lists. Don't we?

Cheers...

P.S Please, this is not an editorial service. I, unfortunately, cannot help spot language errors. Also, anyone can ask questions here or in their email, and I'll try my best to give answers.

Hi,

So I noticed that a lot of Nigerians have excellent story ideas they'd like to turn into books. This is wonderful, as we need more African literature in the literary sphere; however, many of new writers churn out books that are severely lacking in content and depth.

Sometimes, it's their fault that they've published a less-than-standard manuscript. Other times, they're victims of a system that stifles creativity, promotes mediocrity, and does not lend much to learning about the writing process. Here are some other problems:

1. Very few high-and-mighty authors volunteer to help the up-coming folk find their way to the top. Their workshops are in far-away lands, and even when they're held in Nigeria, only a few people are accepted. They barely answer inquiries, and they move in such close-knit circles that you'd be a strongman to attempt asking a question when you met them at Ake.

(Yes, I know they're busy people and have a life, but I believe more can be done if they band together to help the masses) grin

2. The literary blogs concentrate on literary news and events. When it comes to examining the writing process, they're nowhere to be found.

3. On the writers' path, they hardly read (quality books) but somehow expect to be excellent writers. Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.

4. A million other things that include the inability to find creative writing programs in higher institutions and ends at the near lack of residencies/grants/societal support ...but I digress.

I'm sick and tired of picking up terrible books that have been allowed to see the light of day because the author's best friend told them they're the best writer in the world.

Facebook likes on those Facebook stories don't make you a genius. Sorry.

Want to really write something that'd really blow everyone's mind? Get someone neutral (that reads all sorts) to critique your work.
