Thanks Soji, you've been superhelpful too. I hope you won't leave after your brother joins you in your FiveEye package
thesoj:
@Graviton2, just sent you a mail. Btw, you don't need a Letter of Clarification if your SOP covers whatever you want to convince the officer about. It's all up to you. For my sister, we used a separate Letter of Clarification because I wanted to write a different letter to address the "insufficient funds" issue.
@TheBae, you are one super helpful person... I like smiley

If I were you, I'd do either of the following:
1). Fix at least $60kCAD (stating in SOP the money was fixed for my studies and will mature on time) and state 20k as room and board and the balance as others such that that amount covers at least 2years of my stay while still providing 2 savings SOAs (dad/mum and co-sponsor) with maybe 5M each just to show that they'll still survive well either way. OR

2). State $50,000CAD to conveniently cover 2yrs (state this in SOP) and not strain SOA. Feed the savings account some fertiliser and make it go up to about 15M+ and my co-sponsor's maybe about 10M + shares etc. And provide landed documents and assets. Maybe do an evaluation of my dad's landed properties and state how much my kid brother needs yearly for his school. I would also notarize both sponsorship letters (especially the co-sponsor if she's not a parent).
You don't need to be depressed. You see testimonies of people who got TRV on their 4th attempt here. We don't pray that it gets to that for you but if they could get it, you can. Funny enough, when I saw your reason for delay I silently sighed "thank God, he'll be able to tackle that clearly with no confusion". Just do your best and leave the rest.

This is my 50cent, I hope it helps smiley
Graviton2:

Thank you. I will work on it. I just want to know where I stand on the "Room, board and Other" issue.

Also, in the "funds available for stay" was I wrong to have filled 52k, should I dial it down.

I'm beginning to feel very depressed right now

Lmao! You want to start again this night abi! Take time oh
deedee0:

Exactly!
Graviton2 I think you should fix the money. Personally I dnt trust NG banks! And can't leave 12M in an account oo! TheBae.. If u laugh there cheesy
Just take your time.
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 12:07am On Aug 21, 2015
I would advice you to beef it a tad bit higher than 12M since you're going for UG. Also get a more buoyant co-sponsor.
Also, as @deedee0 pointed out, having a fixed deposit will work in your favour if your sponsor states that it's solely for your study and it matures in due time.
I think the first thing you need to do is to really think about not refiring anytime too soon. A 3rd denial is not what you need. Take your time to make things right.
Graviton2:
@thesoj, @berexio1, @thebae, @ahyotomiwa

So You are all saying I should:

- Boost my sponsor's account to perhaps 12M
- Fill about $5k-6k in the "Other" section, so the combined about for both the "Room and board" section + "Other" section equals or is more than $10k

Am I missing anything else?

Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 11:48pm On Aug 20, 2015
Undergraduate? TBH, the funds are truly insufficient BUT a good inflow should have helped a bit. How was the inflow? Did the inflow show that within the next 2 or more years your sponsors would still have up to or more than the current balance to continue funding you and to fund your brother who still needs millions to see him through the next few years of his life?
The solution is to take time out to beef up both SOAs or look for a better co-sponsor while still beefing up your dad's SOA.
Everyone is waiting for your success story
Graviton2:

I'm going for an Undergraduate degree. It's 4years, hence the large sum.

I have only one sibling and he's 12. I'm 20. I'm the first son.
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 11:45pm On Aug 20, 2015
Yes of course, it all depends greatly on the SOA and dependents. Someone can have N50M SOA and still get denied for insufficient funds because he has 20 siblings, 15 of which are dependent on the same sponsor. So yeah, a lot of factors need to be considered before dropping huge figures
thesoj:

Yeah if I were Graviton2, I would only add like $12k CAD (total of "room&board" plus "other" ) to the tuition, and then write the total (no more than $26k CAD) as funds available for my stay. This would put less pressure on the bank accounts.

Edited: Writing $52k is okay if the bank statements are massive enough to handle it. In my sister's app, we wrote the total amount that the sponsor promised for the two years total; but putting an amount for one year is ok too.
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 11:27pm On Aug 20, 2015
Sure thing
eetti:
@TheBae I hope we meet in NS though, still waiting for CIC to make a request for my passport
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 11:27pm On Aug 20, 2015
Lol it's just weird. I know for sure that my father won't drop $52k just like that but I guess it happens like in your case wink
Of course with a very attractive SOA (which is not the case in his application), it'd probably pass if he's his sponsor's only dependant. They probably know that his aunty won't give him $20k anyway, the SOA gave that away. I think that's the major problem, $52k is too much for the SOAs presented
thesoj:
@TheBae is the new detective on the thread, a la @hayqinsbFX. I love your questions smiley

Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 11:18pm On Aug 20, 2015
Yeah. That's why IMO inflow can be more relevant than balance. BUT, some VOs are more critical than doing this basic math. What if the sponsor's source of income is negatively affected by external source and he is unable to generate the money? You end up working overtime in Canny or even doing illegal stuff. They need some sort of Insurance that that money is almost available instantly except the inflow is quite exceptional. I think these are some of the mistakes some of us make. I stand to be corrected anyway
ahyotomiwa:

TRUE.....(Supported).. but sometimes the money are not all bin deducted at once...sinx ur sponsor might not release dem at once..dere is time for moni to b generated in..hence the essenx of inflow and out flow....but it best to have way more....had someone who even stated more funds to be available dan d balance in her acct...i guess dey left r due to d acct cash flows...but it best to play safe like theBae suggested.
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 11:14pm On Aug 20, 2015
My point exactly (even though we should include our tuition, that should amount to about 35k +/-). While some people may have stated 50k+ and still got TRV, they probably had way better SOAs that's probably even double that amount with little or no other dependents. We need to try to stay away from the temptation of over-doing things. Personally, I think THAT was THE problem.
eetti:
Lets get something straight.
If your school likes let them specify that you need $8,681 for accommodation and feeding. What about books, transport and clothes?
CIC wants you to have $10,000 so you can provide for the 'other' needs.
@graviton you used your own hand to kill yourself you should not have written $52,000 for funds available for your stay.
Do you have $52,000 as pocket money?
I sit to be corrected sha...

Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 10:57pm On Aug 20, 2015
Kindly explain how you arrived at $52k.. I'll assume the actual amount you may need is about $30k for 2yrs. What about the $22k, what is it for? That's a lot of money and puts so much pressure on your SOAs.
How many siblings do you have? What position are you in your family?
Graviton2:

Total expenses as stated on my letter of acceptance:
Tuition: 13,614
Room and board: 8,681

Funds available for my stay
52,000

You can go to IOM without booking, it's only advisable to book, not compulsory. But you have to pay and go with your teller or you won't be attended to. From what I've been hearing lately, IOM is getting fussy about high blood pressure and demanding cardio regularly these days so if you're not confident about that, you might want to try Q-life. I don't know how long it takes them to send medical results though
jpepper:
HELLO ppl, @TheBae,@thesoj can anyone pls advise on the best place to go for my medicals?I mean in terms of efficiency, just got a mail for my medicals this evening and I plan to do it tomorrow morning,I need to get it done nd result sent to cic as soon as possible because am fast running out of time already,is it compulsory to book an appointment before hand?already tried calling the listed d hospitals but got no response,I guess they have closed for the day

I don't think it's advisable to put the total of the bank statement balances as the funds available for study. If possible, there should still be about 30% of the total funds available for study left in the accounts + good inflow and outflow of cash. No one will use their life savings to sponsor him (at least that's how the VO may see it).
thesoj:

Also, I would recommend that your sponsor and all co-sponsors in their letters state exactly how much they would be contributing to you annually. The total of this amount (or the total of their bank statement balances, whichever looks better) is what you would write in the "Funds Available For Your Stay" box. Also don't forget to include documents on the sources of funds (e.g. employment details and income)"

When do you think you'll get your passport and when will you resume? You know you can always miss the first week

Hello every one, I have been a silent follower of this thread n it has been helpful. I have gotten to a point that I need help, my TRV has been approved but the issue is that before I get my passport my school must have resumed so I want to defer the admission to january intake, I want to know if is okay because I don't want to have any issue with the canadian immigration at the airport when arriving in january. Thanks

Nobody can answer your question, nobody knows the school you're asking about. Check your school website for their application deadline. There is no general deadline for all schools. If it's not on your school website, email them requesting the information

In other news, our mighty Stanbic's CAD rate has gone from N164 to N170. Other banks must have gone way higher by now.
If you're just about to pay tuition, accept my condolences.

I understand you but if I were you, I'd let sleeping dogs lie since she's not his daughter or spouse. Think about it well sha. If you decide to go ahead and mention it, your brother will need supernatural ties to Nigeria. Lol best of luck either way
thesoj:
While I initially considered this strategy, I realized that it could backfire significantly if the VO finds out that the sponsor is sponsoring my sister but didn't state it. I read on one of the CIC documents that the sponsor should state how many dependents he/she has, in which case it would reduce ambiguity to state the financial commitment to each dependent.

You have no punctuation in your question(s). There are a couple of typos that make it difficult to understand.
From what I understand, my answers are as follows;
You can process your visa by yourself. This thread will provide you with all the information you need. We're all here to help you if you can phrase your questions correctly. If you are too busy, you can get a reputable agent if you please.
About tuition, no, your fees will not reduce because you're going to live with your cousin

Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 4:35pm On Aug 19, 2015
I don't think the bolded is necessary. I think it's too much information. Let's see what others think about that.
thesoj:
@TheBae thanks for your response. We will use my sister's Naija address given that she'll be in Naija while my bro applies. The thing is that the sponsor will mention in his letter that he is also sponsoring my sister, so the VO will know.

Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 4:26pm On Aug 19, 2015
IMHO, I think it's safer to apply now that she isn't in Canada yet than to apply when he'll have to indicate that his sister is in a uni that is not so far from his. We know that the VOs have all the information but they might not even scrutinise your brother's application to the extent of conducting research on his sister whose address will be stated as Nigeria anyway.
Even if her name pops up on their system, as long as the account is bulky enough to cover both of their expenses and still cater to the owner of the account, then go for it.
thesoj:
Question for the house: my sister is starting her MSc program in January and she already got her TRV, while my brother is yet to apply for his TRV to start a PGD program in January as well. They have the same sponsor with sufficient funds.

Do you guys think it creates a bad impression that my brother is trying to go to Canada at the same time as my sister? I am paranoid that the VO may see it as a desperate attempt to go with my sister. Fyi their schools are 550km apart. Would it look better if he deferred his admission to May (but still apply for TRV in September)?

Abeg I need your opinion please @deedee0 @tnuola @Team12 @teesboy @HayqinsbFX @richcasey @berexio1 @SeraSera, @Graviton2 @TheBae @ayooluwatoni
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 4:13pm On Aug 19, 2015
You don't have a problem because the VO will look out for the steady inflow and outflow so that will work in your favour. He can use his business account as long as he submits proof of ownership showing that he is the sole proprietor of the company. That's what I did but I had a co-sponsor so as @thesoj said, a co-sponsor will do you good and keep you on the safer side
obiscolly:
Hello house, i'll like to know if a sponsor can use only his business account for the TRV application? He runs a primary and secondary school with a fairly constant flow of income from student fees and there are times depending on the time of year when the bank balance hits N8m or more. But last month it dropped to about N1m because of some capital expenditure in the secondary arm of the school. School resumes 14th sept, and he's sure by the end of next month the account should have risen up to about N7-8m again. I intend submitting my application end of september. My question now is : won't that sudden drop in balance to about N1m be a source of concern to the VO reviewing my application? Will explaining this in the application do any good?

Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 8:14pm On Aug 18, 2015
Yeah I get you. I just think it helps to show that the payment of fees reflects in the SOA. It's obviously not necessary but it just might help to further authenticate your sponsor. If the new balance will look "too bad" then by all means go ahead with the old SOA. My SOA was over 3 weeks old when I applied
Inkblood:

the cost isn't the problem. its just that my funds would be quite depleted after this sch fees payment. i am paying about 1.3m depending on the exchange rate. which would have made my soa look better. although i have already explained in the existing sop that i made the part tuition payments from the account though
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 8:11pm On Aug 18, 2015
I used GTB, they sent it at about N170 though. Try Diamond, just tell them you want to do a wire transfer

can you pls put me through the bank you use to make your school fee payment, i was in access bank and i was told central cancel fund transfer... any one who made payment recently should pls give me a light on how to go about it
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 1:40pm On Aug 18, 2015
It's okay to use the SOA like that but isn't it better to print a new one that will show that your school fees was from that same account. It won't really cost you anything
Inkblood:
Hello guys. please whats the maximum time difference btw the date of your soa and the date of visa application.. as i printed my soa last week, monday 10th. hoping to go to the embassy by wednesday. i have been having few delays. and still haven't gone. and as it is i might be going this friday. would i need to print my soa again? i have just paid tuition fees actually and waiting for the receipt that is why i might be waiting till friday. if i am to print another soa, must i print days up till the date before i printed or could i leave a few days out?
