Okay better, the topic you posted said "Ban". I get you now. Just look for another sponsor and you can be the co-sponsor
Olawunmif:

LOL. nah lemme explain.
Immigration law states dt u cant sponsor a foreign national as a spouse if u were sponsored by a spouse urself. and u must have waited 5 years after u bcm a PR bfr u sponsor. not that he was banned. he jst has to wait out the 5 year rule which expires next year.
but thanks for the SOA info...i tot so myself. jst wanted to be sure since CIC knows my hubby is there based on my past application info
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 2:05pm On Aug 17, 2015
So he got divorced and married you and got a 5yr ban?
I'm not sure using his SOA is a good idea. What were the reasons for your previous delay?
You might want to look for another sponsor and spend some days in prayer city.
Hopefully the elders can help you with this
Olawunmif:

he was sponsored as a spouse. hence the ban.
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 1:48pm On Aug 17, 2015
Your husband is a PR? So what exactly is the problem? Can't he just apply for you to join him and you get PR and even pay cheaper tuition even your decide to still purse your degree?
**Edit: I just saw your topic about the 5yr ban, who exactly was banned? You or your husband?
Olawunmif:
my question goes to the Elders gurus and on this forum pls.
ive been following for quite a while and just need a candid opinion.
i applied for trv last year and was denied due to travel history and purpose of visit. i stated in my app back then that i was going to visit my husband who is a PR but still got refused. (hes unable to sponsor me yet due to some reasons)
now im planning on applying for my masters degree to MUN in economics. im a graduate of econs with 3 and a half year exp in bankin...my questions:
1. my husband is obviously over there..alberta to be precise. is there any issue dt may arise from this because my husband resides in alberta and i wanna school in MUN.
2. also, is it ok to use my SOA and his SOA?
i appreciate ur feedbacks.

I'm glad you had a great experience at Frankfurt. I didn't.
Team12:
I was in Frankfurt with family and I never smelt anything like racism. We had to use the train a couple of times, and they were all so friendly. In fact, I had people who had to come sit beside us cos they wanted to have a close look at my daughter's hair style (with all the stylish beads and all) and they wie all throwing compliments. There were times we did not get a seat and some had to stand up for my daughter and I to sit. So like I sed, I smelt no racism, just a couple of nice pple here and there...and yes! they were very helpful in pointing us in the right direction. We had a great stay!!!

That would be a plus but it really just needs to show enough for one year tuition and living expenses and more for the sponsor to use for himself. They don't expect anyone to empty his/her account for you. You can get a co-sponsor to be on a safe side
obiscolly:

Thanks much for the prompt reply. I am going for a 2 year program. Does my sponsor's bank balance have to prove ability to sponsor my 2 year program as a whole?

hi all...wanna know if its Canadian dollars or us dollars that schools in Canada quote their fees/tuition fees?
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 1:44pm On Aug 15, 2015
If the school can provide that, fine.
If not, many people applied with letters that didn't contain that. Print out the page that shows that from the Uni website. If it's not detailed enough, do a spreadsheet to probable expenses.
obiscolly:
Hi people,

So i finally got a letter of acceptance for my MSc program from the university of Manitoba and i have started the online study permit application. On the part for uploading the letter of acceptance, it says the letter has to contain the exact tuition fee for the program. My acceptance letter does not contain this, however the information is present on the school website. Is it necessary to contact the school to include this information or there is some other way i can go about this?

Thanks.

Take advantage of your close family members here and use them as home tie. If you can get the survey plan or deed of assignment, that'd be good. Like Joe said, if you have a registration document for your business, great. If you don't, show receipts and maybe take pictures of your place of business. If you work for someone, add your employment letter, if you have been in that company long enough, get a study leave letter (don't get that if you just started working there, it's ridiculously unrealistic) but you can get a reference letter from your employer stating that your performance is outstanding and he won't hesitate to take you back after you studies.
If you're writing an SOP, make sure it addresses you long term goals in relation to the program your going for and how you will use it to improve that industry in your home country. Are you married or in a serious relationship? Take advantage of that. Did you do any community project during nysc? If yes, see how you can use that to you advantage. If you haven't served, great! Tell them you intend to come back to embark on a voluntary service to you nation.
Just take advantage of whatever situation you're presently in
All these are not necessary if you're young, just apply at a rush-free period and you'll be fine
charles316:
Hi guys,please I need your help. I need to apply for visa soon and I'm having problems with the "strong home ties" aspect.

Now,it is compulsory that my proof of strong home ties has to do with properties? If yes,can a survey plan of the land be sufficient? I haven't done and it may take some time. I have two buses which I use for business,can I use this and how? What other way can I show "strong home "

Some uni transcripts come with your exact scores though. Mine shows the scores for each course I took.
The thing is, in some schools in Nigeria, 70 is A, 60 is B etc. So I'm not sure how that's going to play out if you don't use exact figures. Your school's grading system will either work in your favour or otherwise
Inkblood:

the problem is that nigerian transcripts show grades A,B,C etc instead of scores. 70, 60, etc. are you saying that when filling the wes IGPA we should fill in the equivalent from the head?
A=75
B = 70
C = 60
D = 50
E= 40
F= 39
is that what you are saying?
i am pretty sure i am wrong sha.
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 8:39pm On Aug 14, 2015
I'm not sure about that.
It's probably the usual Distinction, Merit, Pass..

Mine doesn't I guess because grades differ from school to school.
That's why there's an option for numeric grades.
pascal2young:

@ TheBae.......d 0-100 grade nd d A-F grade gives the same thing
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 6:53pm On Aug 14, 2015
You're welcome.
Yes I understand you because the course by course evaluation costs quite a lot. It definitely makes your result and cgpa look more attractive. Lol. You didn't even know you had a Canadian first class. Congrats!

Thank you @TheBae ... I just wanted peeps in here to try the iGPA calculator on the WES website 1st after u verify it is correct. I am glad u did cos at least peeps can use it b4 applying for it officially. wink

https://www.wes.org/calculator/igpa.asp
When you input degree name, institution name and country, choose "numeric scale" (1-100) as appropriate grading scale and not "letter scale" (A-F).
So while inputting your courses, you'll use the score of each course not the grade.
hayqinsbFX:
I didn't see anything o.
It only redirected me to a page where dey said dey will send it to my email.

Mehn I had to waste time because it was about 70courses.
Besides scores as in?
Send me the link of what u uses.
I was inputting A, B and so on.

How willl I knw d exact score from the transcript

Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 6:39pm On Aug 14, 2015
Yes I had that sane issue. I guess it was cos i wasted time before inputting thr grades. I had redo it and be fast about it.
By the way make sure you choose to input "scores" asin "60", and not grades asin "B". You'll see the score once you click "Calculate CGPA" and you'll also get it in the mail
hayqinsbFX:
I think I just did the same.
Is it the wes IGPA thing that u used.

It was stressful putting. Up all my grades and when I finished it asked for my info for my results to be forwarded to it.
Tillnow I haven't recieved the evaluation

If not.
How did u do ur own evaluation
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 5:48pm On Aug 14, 2015
@hayqinsbFX, @lakusi
I have just done the online evaluation and it is the exact same CGPA on a 4point scale as I got on my actual WES evaluation so it is 100% verified!
If you're interested in seeing the results to compare by yourself, you can PM me so I'll email it to you

Yes, I heard that some employers even ask to see the evaluation before giving jobs.
BeulahHephziba:
Yes you are right, my husband confirmed what you said. He said, he was asked to do another WES caip document by document evaluation to get licence to work in Canada. Engineering stuffs. Cuz engineering is a regulated discipline, can't practice without a licence.
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 2:57pm On Aug 14, 2015
I dont know anything other than what i experienced with my own evaluation. WES evaluates everything not just the last 2 years. It's the schools that usually put more emphasis on the last 2 years. I'll do what you asked and let you know if it's the same thing.
lakusi:

Hello TheBae,
I can see you know so much about this WES evaluation. I did an evaluation on their website few months ago by inputting my courses and grades after which I got a result of my CGPA converted to 4.00.
Could you please check the website and try inputting your grades to see if the outcome is the same as what you got after WES did your course by course evaluation? If it's the same then guyz in the house can try the website 1st b4 making any payment to WES.
See below a screenshot of what I got back then although my CGPA was 4.10/5.00 and 4.54 /5.00 inast 2yrz (if WES considers the last 2yrz tho
Thank you as u continue helping the house members. grin
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 2:02pm On Aug 14, 2015
That's because you did the basic evaluation and not a course by course evaluation. If you had done that, your cgpa would have been revaluated as well so it'll show what it is on a 4point scale
BeulahHephziba:

Well, you won't get what you stated down here from WES. Why? Mine, there is no single analysis of cGPA, just that my Nija degrees are recognised in Canada, just the equivalence of levels I suppose. NOTHING SPECIAL brodaly. It's early morning, dont let me comment on WES. If you want a copy of mine evaluation, I'll scan it to.

Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 9:20am On Aug 14, 2015
I think I spent about to $500 in total
You can save your school multiple transcript money such that you can order one transcript for wes and when evaluation is done, they can send your transcripts and evaluation result to the school so you won't need to send another transcript by post to the school
favour0011:
Hi, how much did you spend all together for the evaluation?
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 9:20am On Aug 14, 2015
There are different kinds of evaluation. Some are more detailed than others.
A course by course evaluation is more expensive than normal evaluation
Some of the courses i got an B in chabged to B+
Some courses i had a C in changed to B
I had a couple of Ds in uni but they changed to Cs in the coursebycourse evaluation. So if the school sees it that way, it may work in your favour
hayqinsbFX:
3.21/5 to a 2point over four ke?

What dou mean by course by course...
Isn't that what wes will do with your transcript?
What scores changed? Isn't it the grade that shows on the transcript...
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 8:57am On Aug 14, 2015
Nah.. maybe a 2point.
Could go to like 2.7 or 2.8 or thereabouts (just a rough estimate, it may be higher or lower) but i think the last 2 years are the most important for admission so you can do a course by course evaluation if you like, it costs abit extra though but for mine, some Cs changed to Bs cos they use the score for each course and reevaluate each of them
hayqinsbFX:
I wasn't referring to His in particular.

What about a 3.21 GP...could it get to a 3/4
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 8:23am On Aug 14, 2015
Ahn from 2.7/5 to 3/4? Nope. It can move from 3.8/5 to like 3.4/4 or thereabouts
If I understand you correctly
hayqinsbFX:
Bro
I think I want to go into the same fight now.
A friend of Mine said if you have a low gpa as a Nigerian it's better if you do a wes evaluation of ur transcript and have it.
He said the wes evaluation could give you up to 3/4 on canadian scale.

I dnt knw how true but I will sure find out.
