If the school can provide that, fine. If not, many people applied with letters that didn't contain that. Print out the page that shows that from the Uni website. If it's not detailed enough, do a spreadsheet to probable expenses. obiscolly: 2 Likes |

hi all...wanna know if its Canadian dollars or us dollars that schools in Canada quote their fees/tuition fees? |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 2:31pm On Aug 15, 2015 |

TheBae:Thanks much for the prompt reply. Under what section do I get to upload the page showing the tuition? Also, I am going for a 2 year program. Does my sponsor's bank balance have to prove ability to sponsor my 2 year program as a whole? |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 2:34pm On Aug 15, 2015 |
That would be a plus but it really just needs to show enough for one year tuition and living expenses and more for the sponsor to use for himself. They don't expect anyone to empty his/her account for you. You can get a co-sponsor to be on a safe side obiscolly: |

When did you apply for the admission? How long did it take to get a reply You could print the page for tuition on the schools website. obiscolly: |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by sholay2011(m): 3:57pm On Aug 15, 2015 |
obiscolly:Congrats bro! My letter of acceptance also didn't state the exact tuition fee which I used for TRV application. And I honestly don't think it's a big deal so far you can showcase your financial capacity the way(s) @TheBae has pointed out. Besides, one's fees will eventually depend on the courses you register for I think. Best wishes. |

Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by obiscolly(m): 4:16pm On Aug 15, 2015 |
hayqinsbFX:I applied on the 30th of May and i got an acceptance letter on the 10th of this month. So that's roughly 2.5 months. A condition for securing a place though was getting a supervisor. That's why it took that long. I got a supervisor like 3 weeks ago. |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by obiscolly(m): 4:19pm On Aug 15, 2015 |
sholay2011: Thanks man. Did you also apply to Manitoba? One question please. I'm currently filling out the form for student permit made outside of canada (IMM1294E). For the part of the form that asks for tuition, room/board and other fees, am i to fill in the costs for one year or the costs for 2 years combined? |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by hayqinsbFX: 4:28pm On Aug 15, 2015 |
I'm looking at non thesis....does that mean the process could be faster? obiscolly: |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by obiscolly(m): 4:30pm On Aug 15, 2015 |
hayqinsbFX: Sure, it could be faster. For me, if i had a supervisor before beginning the application, it should have taken about a month assuming one meets all their academic requirements. |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by sholay2011(m): 4:35pm On Aug 15, 2015 |
obiscolly:Yep, also got admission to Manitoba. TRV still processing. It is well. As for your question, this was how I filled mine (with respect to my tuition fee): Tuition: 8900 CAD (for 1 year) Room/ Board/ Other fees: 10, 000 CAD Amount available: 30, 000 CAD Amount in my sponsor's Account balance: $34, 000 US Note the amount I stated as available isn't the entire amount in my Sponsor's account. ..even though the sponsor is my dad. 1 Like |

sholay2011:Wow! I'm glad to find someone also going there. I'm guessing you were admitted for the winter session? For the room/board/ other fees quoted above is the $10,000 for all combined? Because on the form there was a field for room/board and another for other fees. Sorry for asking so much questions..lol. God will see us through. |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by sholay2011(m): 5:12pm On Aug 15, 2015 |
obiscolly:I was admitted for fall. This was how I filled it: Room/Board: - Other fees: 10, 000 CAD. I left Room/Board fees empty. |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by obiscolly(m): 5:24pm On Aug 15, 2015 |
sholay2011:Will you be living someone you know over there? Just wondering why you left it blank? |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by sholay2011(m): 5:30pm On Aug 15, 2015 |
obiscolly:Lol I assumed the 10,000 CAD shud cover accommodation or so. And note that the amount available exceeds the total of tuition and other expenses by about 12,000 CAD which I think is what matters, while the amount available shouldn't also be the whole amount in your sponsor's account, except maybe you are the only child of your sponsor. |

hayqinsbFX: You are always making assumptions. You think the population of Nigerians here is noticeable compared to Indians? That anyone deferred their admission is not a crime. It is something legal. It doesn't close any door to anyone else. As far as I know Indians are into far more fraudulent practices as regards immigration than Nigerians. They come here on a study permit then get married to their fellow Indian who's a PR as soon as they land. Nigerians barely do that. At my work place we've got five (5) Indians who did that to get PR status so just chill abeg. Nobody block your way. 21 Likes 1 Share |

@obiscolly Don't leave that box blank o! The VO may assume you are saying you don't have money for room/board. Or it may cast doubt about your finances in the VO's mind. Don't leave your fate to the VO's arbitrary interpretation, try to be unambiguous and specific about all important detail. My sister left that box blank on her first application and was rejected for insufficient funds, even with lots of money on the bank statements. I recommend putting $10k under room/board and then put another amount (even if small, e.g. $3k) in the "other" box. sholay2011: 1 Like |

If you go to Indians thread you will also see how the canadian VO threat them at the embassy, so they're not left out in receiving the stick. Snappyfingaz: |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by Nobody: 5:56pm On Aug 15, 2015 |
hayqinsbFX: Yeah, they get the "stick" too but don't tell me your fellow Nigerians made things bad for you. That's not acceptable. 8 Likes |

Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by obiscolly(m): 6:06pm On Aug 15, 2015 |
thesoj:Thanks. Duly noted. I got the estimate of $6500-15,000 for housing on the school website. However, i put $8,000 and left 'other' at $5,000. |

I said Nigerians because we are Nigerians and their own quota in the bad act affected us If their statistics shows Nigerians are most law abiding, I'm telling you we won't have as much problem as we have. Either u agree or not is not the issue.... It is what it is. Snappyfingaz: 1 Like |
