Politics / Re: Boko Haram Kills Umusu, A Lt Colonel, In Borno (Photos) by theGistsonline: 7:12am On Dec 15, 2016
henryanna36:
Boko Haram terrorists have killed another senior Nigerian Army officer, identified as, O. Umusu. Umusu who was a Lieutenant Colonel and Commanding Officer, 118 Task Force Battallion in Borno State.

He was killed alongside his security details, by an IED in an ambush Monday evening, December 12.

The officer and his men were reportedly returning from Maiduguri to their location towards Baga. The incident happened between Sari and Gudumbali.

Their remains were evacuated to 7 Division Medical Services and Hospital.

O.Umusu is one of the four Lt. Col. the army is losing in two months.

Veteran soldier Funsho Yusuf who has known him for years wrote.....

'I have known Lt Col Otos Umusu since the age of 11,he has always been a courageous and highly resolute man. We have been good friends for over 25 years. Otos as he is fondly called was responsible for channeling supplies to our troops in the frontlines for a few years. He was promoted last year and became a commanding officer of one of the units combating insurgency in NortEast Nigeria. I interacted with Otos 2 nights ago till around 3am on Saturday. I remembered him throwing a jibe at me for not visiting his more volatile location in Madagali during my recent tour of the North East. He also raised his observation on the fight against insurgency being intensified in the media rather than on ground. I looked into his eyes with sympathy as I appreciated his selfless sacrifice and those of our other troops who are fighting with limited resources. To be honest I usually pray in my heart we see again whenever I parted ways with anyone serving in NorthEast Nigeria. I was heartbroken to hear about your passing this morning. You are a hero and should never be forgotten,I pray to God almighty to give your family the fortitude to bear your loss. You shall certainly rest in peace my Colonel'

meanwhile on his brothers FB page: This letter is from Odiri Umusu Odiri lives in the UK. We met in 2015 when he invited visited Samsung Electronics West Africa to get the company to be a part of the National Conference on Oil & Gas and Power.
Read his heart-breaking letter to Buhari. His brother, Otobrise Umusu was killed on the 12th of December by an IED, supposedly planted by Boko Haram, on his way to Baga. Till date, the family has not been contacted by the top Military brass to offer condolences to the family. The handwriting is there for everyone to see. I fear for the outcome of the current pregnancy.
May his Soul Rest In Perfect Peace.

14th December 2016
His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari
President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
Office of the President
Nigerian Presidential Complex
Aso Rock Abuja
Federal Capital Territory Nigeria
Your Excellency,
My name is Odiriviroro Umusu I am the immediate
junior brother of one of your officers Lieutenant
Colonel Otobrise Umusu the Commanding Officer,
118 Task Force Battalion in Borno State, who was
killed by an Improvised Explosive Device, IED, in an
ambush on Monday 12th December 2016 on his way
to Baga.
Lieutenant Colonel Otobrise Umusu dedicated his life
to serving Nigeria from an early age:
• 1991 – 1996 – Nigeria Military School - Zaria
• 1996 – 1997 – Soldier serving with the Nigerian
Army Intelligence Corps
• 1997 – 2002 – Nigerian Defence Academy - Kaduna
• Commissioned an officer in Infantry Corps 2002
• Served as an officer from 2002 – 2016 in:
o Takum in the North East of Nigeria
o Republic of Sierra Leone
o Ibadan
o The Niger Delta
o Army Head Quarters – Abuja
o Maiduguri – where he died in service to Nigeria, his country Your Excellency; if you are reading this, the name UMUSU will ring a bell as my father Brigadier General Sylvester Ugege Umusu served under you and also worked with you when you headed PTF. It is now Wednesday 14th December 2016 and as I write this letter with tears in eyes, my father, my brother’s wife Ufuoma Joe Umusu and his siblings have not been contacted by you, your office, the Chief of Defence Staff or the Chief of Army Staff to offer your condolences for our loss. My brave brother sacrificed his life and future with his family to make yours and every Nigerian’s today safe. In my humble opinion we deserve your acknowledgement and appreciation and as a former army officer I know you appreciate the sacrifice involved in serving your country and it saddens me that in over 24 hours after the passing of my brother a call has not been made to my family. I do not under any circumstances believe this is too much to ask; for the falling heroes of our beloved country Nigeria.
My family has served Nigeria in her armed forces
and continues to do so, we have paid the greatest
price for that service; the very young life of my
beloved brother Lieutenant Colonel Otobrise Umusu who was killed in action. As his family we have lots of questions to ask surrounding his death:
• When will an investigation be carried out?
• Will there be an investigation?
• My brother bled out, why did his team not have the
right equipment for such eventuality
• What lessons can be learnt from this?
• What is being done to stop funding to Boko Haram?
o Every weapon, vehicle purchase or general
equipment purchase by Boko Haram must leave a
paper trail
o Can the expert forensic accounting skills used by
the EFCC not be employed to disrupt their
operations?
Your Excellency, you may deem this letter as
disrespectful and not the right procedure in dealing with this matter but am all but a Nigerian citizen that is grieving the loss of his beloved brother and in my humble opinion we deserve to know the who, what and why that happened to our brother on that terrible day and as his Command in Chief you are ultimately responsible for reaching out to all the families of our fallen heroes to assure them their loved ones did not die in vain. Thank you for your anticipated attention to this matter.
Yours sincerely,
Odiriviroro Umusu

And for the people saying that it's a king cobra, how old are you guys ?? Even a 4 year old kid can tell you how cobras look like but you guys stupidity is amazing

Cobras have flat hooded heads

There are no cobras in Nigeria

The only cobra you will find in Africa is the black-necked spitting cobra, and it's only in Mozambique

The second picture i will attach is how a cobra looks like
I must say I totally disagree with you! Cobras are found in Nigeria, I have seen a massive yellow cobra used in this black magic entertainment shows in lagos & even the north

As hared by Paul...

'Teachers In Obudu Chase Pupils From Classroom.

Obudu LGA, home of the Governor of Cross River State is in the news again as teachers take the laws into their hands by closing down primary schools in the entire Local Government Area and took to the streets to protest 6 months of unpaid salaries.

Children who refused to go home also followed the procession of protesting teachers.

The teacher, some of which held placards with inscriptions on it, said that they are taking the law into their hands because "enough is enough."

Talking to my correspondent on the sideline, one of the teacher said that she has been very upset that "for the first time a governor is coming to Northern Cross River State, and Obudu for that matter, one small shoki man is spoiling the Obudu good name". The woman teacher said that she is scared because she may not be paid her salary as Christmas is fast approaching.

Another teacher said that some teachers who are not among the protesters have been paid some months. Others were paid half salaries. While many are yet to be paid.

One of the school child interviewed said that they are in support of the teacher protest. "My mum is a teacher. She has not been paid and our school exams is next week. Christmas is coming. Me and my sisters needs new Xmas clothes. The governor should pay teachers so we can write our exams," he concluded.

One of the teacher held a placard to our camera that read: Is Excellent Salary A Signature Project? Another teacher had a placard with "Pay Our 6 Months Salary Now!"

According to reliable information, the government of Cross River State is now using contractors to pay salaries. The contractors has been screening teachers for biometrics since the Ben Ayade came into power, a job they have not been able to deliver.

A source from the Primary School Management Board hinted that the contractors have embezzled over 1 Billion Naira of teachers salaries in what they thought were ghost workers. The money according to same source was shared between the Ministry of Education and the contractors'
