Education / Students Rejects Overnight Increment Of Graduation Levy From #10,000 To #18,000 by Theowise(f): 8:43am On Oct 05, 2023
NAKOSS REJECTS THE 'OVERNIGHT' INCREMENT OF GRADUATION LEVY BY FEDERAL UNIVERSITY LOKOJA'S MANAGEMENT

We are writing to express our strong dissatisfaction with the sudden and unjustified increase in the graduation levy here in Federal University Lokoja.

Initially, this levy was set at ten thousand naira [#10,000], a sum that numerous graduating students have struggled to pay due to the current economic challenges caused by the removal of fuel subsidy, resulting in inflation and hike in prices of goods and services.

It is deeply concerning that, while our students continue to grapple with meeting the initial ten thousand naira fee, we were astonished to discover that this amount has been raised overnight to an exorbitant eighteen thousand naira [#18,000], without any prior consultation or communication with the affected students.

As a student association, we wish to emphasize that this increment does not align with the current economic realities of our country. Furthermore, it reflects a lack of sensitivity on the part of the university's management towards the financial hardships faced by students, especially considering the various expenses they already contend with, including transportation, food, and miscellaneous costs.

In conclusion, we urgently call upon the university's management to reverse the graduation fee increment. We believe this action is of paramount importance and request that it be addressed promptly to provide our graduating students with some much-needed relief and breathing space.

Politics / APC Youth Leader Beat Up Lady In Kogi Over Political Choice by Theowise(f): 1:24pm On Mar 24, 2023
Picture of Hassan Olawale Ibrahim, the APC youths leader of Ejuku ward who beat a young lady, Nafisat, over her political choice in last Saturday's House of Assembly election in Ejuku, Yagba East local government area of Kogi State has gained attention online.

It was reported that the young lady voted for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Candidate, Chief Adesoji Odofin and it angered the APC youth leader who is a supporter of Emmanuel Obaro of the APC.

The angry man who voted in the same polling unit with the lady waylaid her on her way home and beat her up, injuring her eyes.

The lady who spoke with our correspondent said she reported the case to the nearest police station and the officer in charge was ordered to bring the culprit to the station. According to the victim of molestation, upon getting to the culprit's house, he told the police to return back to the station that he will submit himself.

Several hour after waiting for the culprit with no sign of arrival, the police DPO was said to have told the lady to return home and find another means to settle the situation as it is not within the jurisdiction of the Nigerian Police Force.

Fast forward to the following day, the lady told our reporter that the police told the APC youth leader to go and beg the lady, thereby thrash the reported assault on her.

Politics / Tinubushetima APC-PCC: Don’t Hide Behind The Fingers Of James Faleke To Sabotage by Theowise(f): 4:43am On Oct 21, 2022
In the wake of the release of the Presidential Campaign Council of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), it never seize to generate debates as The News of the TinubuShetima All Progressive Congress Presidential Campaign Council; APC-PCC, which originally is supposed to leave every members of the party happy and ready to work for victory across the country and particularly in Kogi State, it has left some concerned party loyalists in total worries and dismay especially as the names of those believed to be working in discreet for other parties have been found as members of the campaign council from Kogi West Senatorial District.

Names of the nominees in the Presidential Campaign Council that has caught the attention of concerned faithfuls of the APC in Kogi West are; Hon. Eric Fiki as Member, Parliamentarian Committee, North Central; Barr. James Bola Fabola, Member, Legal Committee, APC-PCC; Barr. Bamidele Suru, Member, Legal Committee, APC- PCC.

The above mentioned names has been fingered to have cordial working and political relationships with oppositions in the state particularly in Yagba Federal Constituency and have in different occasions maintained confidence of only working for the victory of the APC presidential election while planning to sabotage and frustrate all other elections of the party; Senate, House of Representatives, Assemblies and even Gubernatorial elections respectively.

They confessed on several occasions that the reasons for this anti-party actions of these persons are tied unto what they claim to be “What Has the Party In the State Done for Us to warrant giving our all and all for the party to coast into landslide victory at the poll?”. These statements they have been heard quoting both in the public and private domain.

It was gathered that the direct relationship they have with Hon. James Faleke, the APC-PCC Secretary is the foundation for which they have found themselves featuring as members in the APC-PCC respective committees. What ordinarily should be a strength, may gradually if not addressed on time may snowball into locking oneself in an enemy's House and handing over the keys to him. It may result into reducing the numbers of votes the party may primarily have gotten in the forthcoming general election.

Explaining further, Barr. Bamidele Suru who is a member of the legal committee of the APC PCC, is the cooperate/private attorney to Elder Leke Abejide, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Candidate for House of Representatives, Yagba Federal Constituency and who is only going to stand tall for the Presidential Victory for APC and in return, sabotage the winning chances of other election to be in favour of his client’s party.

Barrister Fabola on the other hand, has even both on recorded viral video in public and private, openly declared that "the only two codes for us in Kogi is Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and James Abiodun Faleke, forget about APC in Kogi State". The implication of this is to mean that the only election that is of priority to him and others is that of TinubuShetima and aside of this, all other elections for other offices in the party can go to hell. Hence, he has sworn to work only for TinubuShetima and do otherwise for other elections of the APC. You may wish to also recall that immediately after the APC presidential primary election where Barr. James Fabola served as an APC delegate from Kogi, there were series of arguments as to whether or not he voted in favour of the State’s only Presidential Aspirant; Governor Yahaya Bello. In here, lies issues of trust. How then can the party in the state hold such a man responsible for his words?

Hon. Eric Fiki is a political inseparable twin brother of Barrister James Fabola and on series of occasions, all of the meetings they have attended, organised and supervised in favour of other opposition parties in the state remains evident and available for onward circulation across necessary social media platforms. As much as the nomination of these persons are coming from Hon. James Falake consequent upon the play of their fast one on him, he is obviously going to be in the detriment of the party should measures to checkmating them not quickly put in place at the early time.

Should this publication of attention be taken for granted or doubted in any way, the confidence herein therefore stands that these persons are challenged to ensure that they deliver their wards for the Party from top to bottom. This is a challenge that can only keep this piece irrelevant and fallacious.

As at the moment of announcement of these names, there have been series of unquantifiable joy amongst the ADC sympathisers in the state. According to them, our own have been rewarded in the gathering of our heavyweight opposition party.

The intended anti party tricks to be played by these nominees across their respective political wards and territorial reach must be given an early and proper checkmating.

Hon. James Abiodun Falake may not be aware of any of these plans but with this publication calling for immediate attention and necessary actions, he should therefore not claim ignorance now that it is within the early stage.

Both Tinubu and Shettima are capitalising on the efforts of their successors to campaign for Presidency.

Tinubu capitalises on Fashola and Ambode's efforts to develop Lagos State while Shettima is using Gov. Zulum's projects in Borno State.

Many of the projects in Lagos State BAT campaign team uses to campaign for BAT were not developed by Bola Tiinubu. That's the same campaign template Shettima wants to also use.

Politics / NBA Colloquium: Beyond Tinubu's Absence And Shettima's Outfit by Theowise(f): 7:35am On Aug 23, 2022
It beats me hollow to see public figures such as Reno Omokri and many supposed reasonable and intellectual Nigerians make fun of Shettima's choice of fashion to the 2022 NBA Annual Colloquium, while others crucified Tinubu for being absent from the event. Some went as far as attributing his absence to ill health. A lot of reactions has trailed Tinubu's absence and Shettima's Outfit to the colloquium. It was said by a Facebook friend that "someone that cannot dress well cannot address the myriad problems militating against the development of Nigeria."

Those who have known Tinubu and followed his kind of politics since the 90s have always had one wonderful thing to say about him irrespective of whether they support him or not, and this is his brilliance.

Yesterday, while many people bashed Tinubu for attending the Nigeria Bar Association's (NBA) annual colloquium in proxy, and also made fun of the outfit of the incoming Vice President of the Federal Republic, Sen. Kashim Shettima, many failed to read another meaning to Tinubu's expected absence. I use the term expected absence because I foresaw Tinubu sending Shettima to represent him in the event as it is another opportunity to prove the intellectual capacity and competence of his choice Vice Presidential Candidate to Nigerian south across the Niger as he, Shettima, is already well-known to be a performer with high intellectual capacity in his native Northern Nigeria. For Tinubu, the brilliance and administrative excellence he exhibited as Governor of Lagos State remains a strong force to reckon with in contemporary governance of states in Nigeria.

On his own part, after having been given the opportunity to shine and win the hearts and goodwill of reasonable Nigerians in the South by making Nigerians see reasons why ability to efficiently and effectively govern should be first considered and held sacrosanctly pertinent ahead of parochial sentiments such as religion and ethnicity, that contributes little or nothing to the development of humanity. Sen. Kashim Shettima never failed to recognize and utilize the moment as he held participants of the colloquium and Nigerians in awe with his superb contributions to the subject matter of the event. As expected, he equally used the opportunity the moment presented to further discuss the policy thrust of his principal, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Conclusively, Tinubu scored a good political point with Shettima yesterday. Shettima is a very intelligent person and he was presented to showcase his intellectual qualities to the south and he did just that. He wasn't afraid to speak of his past antecedents and that of his principal. He understands that what makes a man is his past records and where he stood during difficult times.

Shettima's speech at the NBA colloquium stole the show and won the heart of reasonable Nigerians who ain't beclouded by unfounded parochial sentiments.

There's more than meets the eye regarding Atiku Abubakar's relationship with Peter Obi.

Atiku tactically chose Okowa to reinforce PDP's hold over South South.

Peter Obi is a PDP mole that will pledge support for Atiku by January 2023. He is just building momentum for now so as to capture the South East. He will disappoint his followers at the end.

Rabiu Kwankwaso will ultimately be the sought after bride that APC and PDP fight over....

If Rabiu also folds for Atiku... would be very hard for Tinubu to win.

As it stands now, in descending order.... possibility of winning 2023 Presidential Elections....

Tinubu
Atiku
Kwankwaso
Obi

Atiku can beat Tinubu if he manages to convince Kwankwaso. Tinubu has a mountain to climb because of the colossal failure of Buhari.

Obi alone doesn't stand a chance of winning an LGA talk less of a State. Atiku will beat him even in SE states who have always unfailingly voted PDP.

South East have a religious affinity to PDP, even Ojukwu with APGA was jettisoned for PDP.

Politics / Personality, Not Party: Why The Bully? by Theowise(f): 1:32am On Aug 12, 2022
2023 sure, will be a blockbuster. The general election will be beyond party affiliation as the past twelve (12) years has shown that personality, rather than party, is the solution to our problems. The failures of both the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the apex level of government has made it obvious that no political party is capable of turning things around as both party's modus operandi is in one accord- "share the national cake."

It is on the above note that many patriotic Nigerians who by circumstance, have fallen victim of bad governance and yearn for a new Nigeria where the lives, properties and welfare of the citizenry is sacrosanctly held pertinent, have decided to support and cast their votes for any individual who's believed to be capable to rescue the country from the shackles of backwardness, underdevelopment and ailing economy we unconsciously find ourselves.

Notwithstanding the resolve to vote based on our conscience and not for party affiliation or monetary enticement, there are those who still go about attacking, insulting and threatening others who have decided to vote for candidate of a particular party against their new found Messiah whom they intend to foist on the rest of us.

If I'm voting a personality called Mr. A, why should I be bothered about the party he is contesting under? Mr. B, the new found Messiah was yesterday, under the Umbrella that is believed to be the author and architect of our misfortunes which the Big Broom couldn't sweep away, rather, they consolidated upon it.

We blame the Big Broom candidate for failures of the General Conquered by Terrorists, while we unfasten the Family candidate, a former Captain of the First XI of the sick Doctor who couldn't heal our sickly nation, claiming his appointment was shortlived by the 2015 defeat of the Umbrella that could not shield us from being beaten by the sun of hardship.

Employing equity, candidate of the Big Broom that could not sweep away our sorrowful past is much more better than the Family candidate who was part of the Umbrella that could not cover us.

Conclusively, it will be much more better to canvass support for our respective candidates based on their personal achievements when they call the shot than attach them to the failure of another man. It will amount to hypocrisy and wizardry to exonerate one and indict the other of another's failure.

Politics / Balancing The Blame Game: Battalions, Obidients And The Atikulates by Theowise(f): 6:15pm On Aug 10, 2022
The Blame Game became a popular concept through President Muhammadu Buhari when he blamed the defeated People's Democratic Party (PDP) for virtually everything. The President lamented the root in the system and damages done to the country that he forgot he was elected to right the wrongs in the system he inherited. He got himself and Nigeria held down by failure of the past as a result of playing the blame game instead of forging ahead. Jokingly, the delay in appointing cabinet minister of the president, according to some quarters, has PDP incursion.

Oftentimes, I hear and read people blame the APC Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the weaknesses of the current administration. Never for once have I seen anyone talk about the successes of PMB let alone of attributing such to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Is it that PMB's seven (7) years so far has been a journey of failure or we just loath him so much that they see no good in his administration? (I guess right! But you're wrong. I'm not a Buharist. I voted against him in 2019).

Also, recently, particularly since the conclusion of political parties Presidential primaries and since the beginning of media campaign by supporters of the various presidential candidates that emerged, baiter and banters has become an order of the day by supporters of these candidates.

In Lagos State, candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his supporters has been going around the length, breath, nooks and crannies of Nigeria boastfully with bravado, claiming to be the father of Lagos state development and also promising to make Nigeria like Lagos. Other supporters, particularly the OBIdients Citizens and the ATIKUlates has continually detested the claims of making Lagos what it is today by the BATified BATists by saying Lagos became what it is because for decades, it was the seat of both the colonial, Federal Military and Civilians governments respectively. But then, they are quick to call out Tinubu and his supporters whenever things go wrong in Lagos. Recently was during the flood in Lagos that resulted in destruction of properties.

Tinubu is to blame for the woes of Lagos despite leaving government some fifteen (15) years ago.

Across the Niger, Southeastern region in Anambra state, Peter Obi is the architect of the states development forgetting and despising the fact that the state been a flourishing one even before independence.

Candidate of the PDP seem not to he much involved in this blame game and bantering of words as much is not know about him administratively except being head of the privatization committee of the Olusegun Obasanjo tenure where he was Vice President. This is possible because he's has never held or occupied a position where he calls the shot or make the last shot(I do not mean to unleash vawulence, instead I'm just being factual), according to Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN.

EMPLOYING THE DEDUCTION THEOREM IN THE BLAME GAME.

The deduction theorem reveals the relationship between logical entailment and material implication: it allows to one to "pack" or "record" an inference into a tautology, and conversely, to "unpack" or "play back" a tautology as an inference process. (The English Dictionary).

The statements below can be considered to be statements of facts going by the manner at which the Blame Game is being played in this political moment.

1. Tinubu is as responsible for the successes of President Muhammadu Buhari's administration as much as he's for his failures.

2. Tinubu is as responsible for his success and that of his successors (Fashola, Ambode and Sanwo-Olu) as much as he takes the blame for his failures and that of his successors.

3. Peter Obi is as responsible for his successes and that of his successors (Obiano and Soludo) as he's responsible for their failures.

4. We're are the architect of our own misfortunes.

2023 is around the corner, let's go about convincing and canvassing votes/supports for our preferred candidates by employing constructive criticism and issue based campaign and not exploring the centripetal forces such as religion, ethnicity and blind loyalty to political party.

As a peoples, we are as responsible for the success of Nigeria as much as for it's failure.

Dear ASUU ,

As you know, no nation of the world can achieve sanity and tranquility with a high level of illiterates.

Incessant strike by your members has become so unbearable that our students now look beyond the shores of Nigeria for alternatives as our private tertiary institutions are too expensive to afford by the common man. Also, students are fast becoming vagabonds and political jargons.

Our minister state for labour, Festus Keyamo, ESQ, has said the sincere truth to you when he said the Federal Government of Nigeria cannot meet your request as it is too bogus for them to afford. It is also a known fact that our president is insensitive to the plights of her citizens let alone of education.

We know you're agitating for a better university system that will be able to compete with universities in other countries of the world, but with this prolonged strike, the purpose of your agitations seems to have been defeated because the student in me is below 5%, so also thousand other students.

Dear ASUU , I'm on my knee this morning, praying and begging you to call of this industrial strike so I and my colleagues can complete our four (4) years discipline since 2018.

Thank you as you give this plea of mine a favourable consideration.

President Buhari, a beneficiary of the CHANGE tsunami that took over the Nigerian political sphere during the last glory days of the architect of bad governance, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) under the leadership of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, who was sacked due to his incompetence which resulted into growing insecurity, failing economy and gross mismanagement of public fund, was packaged as the consecrated messiah president to turn around the ill fortune of the country, while the All Progressives Congress with its big broom which is supposed to sweep away our sorrowful past as a nation turned out to be a punishment unto us. The president and the APC after seven years of taking over leadership of the country, is a thorn in the skin and arrow that pierces through the hearts of innocent Nigerians whose hope has been dashed by the cluelessness of Mr President.

Seven years down the memory lane, the country is been plagued by economic recession, ransacked by criminal elements, while bloodletting and wanton killing is a norm and tolerated phenomenon.

To aptly put, Nigeria and Nigerians since independent has never been this divided along religious and ethnic lines as witnessed since the emergence of our supposed messiah as president of the country.

It will amuse you to know that UNKNOWN GUNMEN as popularly referred to by the news media, has taken over every nooks, crannies and streets of the country. The seat of power/ Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and other major cities in the country are no exception. Also, this unscrupulous serial killers had penned down the president, President Muhammadu Buhari and the vociferous midget governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai as their target.

In time past, the average and common Nigerians are the only victims of killings and insecurity. Today, it is no longer news that insecurity is now at the doorstep of every Nigerian residing within the territories of the country. We have read with awe how Lawmakers were slain in cold-blood in the southeastern region of the country. Also, still fresh in our memories is the incident of the Kaduna rail where fellow countrymen were kidnapped and till this very moment, no news of any proactive action from the federal government has yield result. This innocent Nigerians are constantly trounced by their abductors.

While we suffer insecurity, we are also faced with abject poverty emanating from poor economic policies which has led to the liquidation of thousands of businesses and the abscondment of multinational corporation due to unfavorable business environment and policies.

Nigerians helplessly fight on two war fronts- insecurity and economic hardship. Nigerians constantly live in fears as security situation worsens and remain unabated. The twin evils of economic hardship and insecurity have continued to reign supreme in the nations public and private lives. All over the country, strategic institutions have been bedeviled by varying degrees of corrupt practices.

For an administration that rode into power on the horse of revamping the economy, restoring security and fighting corruption to a standstill to fail on all scores, it is obvious that a lot is wrong with the polity.

President Muhammadu Buhari is an unprecedented colossal and monumental failure in the annal of Nigeria's history. He has no knowledge whatsoever of the enormous task before him. Yet, he remains insensitive to the plights of Nigerians.

Nigeria is now in autopilot mode. It is time to wise up. Our situation is as musician, Small Doctor put it "all man for himself, alaye fight for yourself."

Good morning my people. May Nigeria not deal with us today and beyond as we go about our daily hustle bustle for survival. Amin.

Politics / Re: Bola Tinubu Asks Osinbajo And FG Not To Increase VAT, Widen Tax Bracket Instead by Theowise(f): 10:58am On Jul 30, 2022
storm001:
Why ask Osibanjo and FG, why not ask Buhari direct.

Is Osibanjo the one increasing the tax?

Until you call out Buhari for what he is, you are not fit to rule this country.

Even if you do which you will never do, you are still not fit to rule Nigeria.

Constitutionally, the Vice President is head of the economic team.
Politics / Re: Tinubu: Lack Of Access To Credit Facilities Is A Major Cause Of Corruption by Theowise(f): 10:35am On Jul 30, 2022
phemmyfour:
Credit facilities will work when your people are gainfully employed with a reliable take home pay

Why do you collect loans to actualize your business idea?

Is it only the employee people that should have access to credit facilities?

People with feasible business proposals should have access to credit facilities.

Hate and petty sentiment will murder you.
