Are you raising children alone?

Sunday 19th March 2023

‘Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.’ Psalm 30:5 NLT

One marriage expert says a single mother sent him a story that helped explain the loneliness and stress often faced by those raising children alone. She said she was looking out of her window one drizzly day and saw a mother robin and her little ones perched in a nest. As the rain poured down, the mother bird covered her chirping chicks beneath her extended wings.

Then the hail began to fall. Instead of tucking her head safely in the nest, the mother robin raised her head upward and took the blows to protect her young. All of the chicks made it safely through the storm.

What a graphic illustration of the challenges of single parenting!

The responsibility of raising kids alone is unrelenting, requiring a mum or dad to earn a living, cook, clean, supervise homework, take care of sick kids, and so on. Beyond these day-by-day duties, they must figure out how to meet their own personal and spiritual needs. Taken in context, this may be one of the toughest assignments on earth.

Single parents, whether mothers or fathers, need our continued support and prayers. To those who are taking the blows on behalf of their children, be assured that better days are coming. The storm you’re in won’t last forever. A beautiful rainbow will soon appear. When the job has been completed, and a brood of healthy little birds has been raised, there will be sweet benefits for the parents who don’t fly away. God’s Word promises: ‘Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.’

I was raised by a single mom.. Lived with her since 0 years ...I'm turning 23 this july ... My mom suffered for me like ... All I've ever wished for is to work hard and pay her back .. those things she didn't achieve because I was in the picture .. so much I can't say... She paid the price for me as her only son.. she paid the price for me as her only child ... I'm grateful she lived to see me make my first million .. I'm glad she lived to see me become and Author... She didn't live to see her grandkids .... It's pretty painful... My mother's love is all I knew after suffering neglect from my dad for almost 20+ years ... Omo .. I finally lost my mom last year November ..I've not been able to recover sincerely ... People don't know what it single Parenthood does , what it feels like ...for the single parent and for the child ... It's crazy ... Unfortunately today is mother's Day .. Kai... Happy mother's days mum.. You raised a strong man.. you raised an ingenious mind.. May your soul Rest in peace ma.. meanwhile .... I might be getting married this year ..

I won't say I'm ugly let's just am an average looking guy, every time I get to see boys who are handsome or finer than me I get moody, angry and jealous about their looks...the way people stare at them and wish they are their friends.

I had an issue with one the other time just a minor misunderstanding I took it to another level... which was very wrong of me.

God is to be blamed, why did he create some people normal and the other better looking..and yet they say he is not a partial God.

Man ....this some low self esteem .. You need to boost your self-concept ... Else you'd find yourself doing something you'd regret later. Begrudge has no end .. Love yourself first and be contented.
Family / Re: How can I stop my wife from divorcing me? by Thered12: 2:23pm On Aug 08, 2022
Antihypocrite:
I have been married for 3 years now, I have known my wife for 5 years altogether. She was and is still the best thing that ever happened to me.

I don't know where to start from, I can't come to terms with the fact that my wife is leaving.

Guys, I think the problem started last year after some hoodlums stole my bike. That was my major source of livelihood apart from some home lessons that I used to do, but stopped due to health reasons.

It's been difficult financially and I honestly don't know what else to do.

Shortly after my bike was stolen, I got a loan from lapo and added with my little savings to enter palm oil business. I wish I had not done so as I ended up losing about 80k because the guy I worked with cheated me whole heartedly.

My wife had to get a job as a teacher in a private primary school. I told her it was just temporary as I was working to raise money for her start a poultry.

In order to clear the lapo loan, I had to do odd jobs and take loan from loan apps. My wife's little salary of 20k became the major source of feeding while I battled to clear the loan.

Sometimes I would borrow from friends to pay the loan app to be able to borrow a higher amount from the loan apps again. This was a mistake and a trap cos now I am so much indebted to these loan apps. I am even owing some friends and right now I am unable to pay back.

I have been in debt for over 8 months now to these loan apps. They have tarnished my Image to all my contacts.

I even stopped going to church because most of my church members who received messages from these loan apps did not even care to hear me out. They believed the loan apps that I am a fraudster on the run.

My wife started feeling ashamed of me. She stopped associating with me in public spaces. I know she has tried. Nobody deserves to pass through what she is passing through.

This afternoon when she came back from work, she told me that she would be going back to her parents house

She said that it is best she goes back to her people until I am able to sort my self out.

Guys I have tried to be strong for so long. Right now I don't think I can hold on anymore. I have always believed that things would turn out well, but right now I am in a low place. I don't know how long I can hold on again.

Last month I tried to even get a security job that pays 25k monthly. But I feel so discouraged to do the job. How long will I work to clear a loan of 320k that keeps adding interest daily.

Thoughts of suicide have been crossing my mind today. I really need help

What can I do? I don't even have the energy to pray. Has anyone ever been in my shoes? If yes how did you come out?

Please sir ...don't kill yourself .. I've been in your shows several times untill things changed. These guys are merciless, they'd go any extent to tarnish your image. The worst is when you try paying off an outstanding loan by having to borrow from another loan app. And the fact many of them give you 7 days to pay with high interest makes it so hard. And then when it accumulates ..it can cause one to go crazy ..ive been there..having to see them call every now and then can make your heart skip..its normal ..its a phase ..infact don't stress yourself about it ..theres always a wey around .you should be more concerned about your mental health, make sure you try and build brainpower and talk to God more. Only him can help. Youre at a very stringent point in your life, you need to give yourself a reason to live. People commit suicide when they realize they don't have a reason to live. If you need someone to talk to, I'm a mental health advocate, you can contact me. At this juncture, one becomes vulnerable to societal vices when they're under this kinds of pressure and it's because they're engulfed by their mental stresses and confrontations. So my job is to make sure I give a hearing ear, and see how I can attend to your mental needs. So you can contact me via my email : Ericjaymes20@gmail.com.

Been there, done that.
REWARD: hate, when you can no longer provide, abandonment.

Fact: you feel so lonely you are too scared to be alone, you do nor trust in yourself or your future.
You have a fear you may one day need their help in return when they go above you in life.

Remedy: focus on yourself. Satisfy yourself and your thoughts first.

You've said it all

One life. One man .One ladder. One destiny. I tried to take someone up the ladder too even when I wasn't at the top yet, but out of generosity I say make I carry am .. Same person I did good for, still caused me to fall ..crazy world. Hello Nairalanders,
I will try as much as possible to make the write-up short.

I am a 21years old guy at a Russian university with two Nigerian roommates (In the hostel though). We averagely get the same amount of money as an allowance monthly, but mine always finishes first.

I don't spend unnecessarily on myself, and we cook together. I discovered after two months of staying together that they care less about buying things that we generally use in the room. For instance, I always buy food season, detergents, and cooking oil (quite expensive).

I cook most of the time. Anytime I decide not to cook, we always go hungry and I can't cope with that. This has made my cash always run out faster and I can't stop them from eating my food or using the things I buy.

There was a time also I lend the last money with me (100k in naira) to my best friend then in Nigeria because he claimed his dad was sick and promised to repay by month-end. I didn't have anything to take me through the remaining days of the month but I gave it out because he was a close friend. Month-end, I couldn't get money from my sponsor because of some issues. I contacted my guy but he stopped replying to me on WhatsApp. I managed to get 20k but the rest is probably history now.

Whenever people talk about their problems, I always feel for them to the extent of giving out my money even if it's the last cash on me. I have never had a girlfriend, but I don't always have the strength to reject if a girl asks for airtime or money from me (including my mum and sisters though)

I always try to go to any length to see people happy even if it means borrowing money from another person for them. I'm that foolish. Generally, I'm too soft-hearted and nice but I don't know how to solve this problem. Someone advised me I should get a girlfriend who should always be angry with me if I'm being too nice to people and that will help me solve the problem to some extent but I think it won't.

I'm not from a rich family, not even from an average family. I'm even from a polygamous home so I know what it means to have suffered as a Nigerian. I was on the street and I guess that's what is making me this weak emotionally. I'm a simp all-around in my life and relationship with people. People are always cheating on me, taking advantage of who I am.

I NEED genuine HELP, please.

Mehn we dey the same shit... I'm from a polygamous home too.. Crazy stuff..ive seen a lot of shit..ive suffered in this life..and as such I'm able to relate to people's pain and plight ..even if it's my last kobo ill give..cos I've been in times when there was nothing so I understand people well but the end get rocky as they'll always take you for granted or pay back with envy and evil intentions ..its crazy...my niceness has caused led to the financial conflicts I'm fighting now.. All because of niceness .. Omo ..you just have to try and be tough ..the fact you're able to relate to their plight due to the fact you've experienced the same shit before just makes it worse ..you just need to create a reason to get tough.. This world doesn't like nice people .. They'll use you .

Family / Re: What Lesson Has Life Taught You So Far? by Thered12: 2:46pm On May 10, 2022
Znation:
Hello Nairalanders,

What lesson has life taught you?

Is it what you've thought it is?

Is where you are today were you thought you would be by now?

" I remember growing up as a child, i thought life is just six years in primary school, six in secondary, the following year for jamb, next is to gain admission into the universty, spend another 4 or 5 years in the universty, look for job, get the money, build my house and buy the latest car in town, and then look for a wife.

But while growing up, i find out that life is not what i thought it is. Six years in secondary turned 8 years rather.

I know of my childhood friend who told me he would become a lawyer, but haven repeatedly written jamb for 5 times without a break through, he was force to start learning a mechanic work.

Sometimes, i ask myself; what is the purpose of living, why is living a life so difficult..

At this point in time, my lesson is that nothing good comes easy; and to be happy, you have to make others happy too.

Have a nice day

Life has taught me to be a solipsistic person ..
I had to learn the hard way and etched into my blood the brutal understanding that all Cruelty springs from weaknesses . You're too good they take you for granted , you're bad they say you're a terrible person .. I've just learnt to remain brutal 24/7.. No feelings , No nothing . I just mind my business and I care less about the next man .. Cos the next man might just be the one to pitch your downfall. I've been able to let go any form of humanistic sentiments . It doesn't feel so good but live with being bright -eyed and bushy tailed

Muslim have no means of solving disagreement other than going violent!

Islam is the number cause of 99.9% problem in the universe!

Have you asked yourself why they are the ones always involved in terrorism?
Bcoz they simply have no idea about how to solve issues without going violent

Beknownst to you , the incursions of the west into the middle eastern region is the biggest problem of the world.. They're selfish people who just come for their Intrest and once they're done they fuel insurgencies , try to destabilize their targets and then still come back as Saints trying to find the infactions of their own overtures . Islam has its own issues as well but bulk of the problems the world is facing now was instigated by these same persons trying to counter -terrorism. Back to what happened in Iran during the reign of Reza shah and Reza sha palavi , the foul play of western Intrest in Iran's oil..
