Culture / Re: Origin Of The Name Bello?! by theSpark(m): 10:50pm On Oct 01, 2017
Its a Fulani name, i think it gained currency during the jihad era was spread around by Hausa merchants and preachers. Areas of Nigeria that did not have early precolonial contact with Hausa traders and preachers dont bear the name eg Igbos, Ijaw, Kalabari

I was in Maraba recently and I have concluded that the people governing Nasarawa state lack common sense. They should go and look at Ogun state and see how they took advantage of their proximity to Lagos to develop and attract Investors to their state.
The roads are so bad. He should develop infrastructure in Maraba nyanya and smile to the bank without depending on oil money
Nasarawa have the capacity to be self sufficient based on its location.

Keffi-Mararaba axis should be the golden goose for any serious government.

Endowments and grants from the private sector would have made sense but as the writer alluded ASUU are not ready to be accountable. Besides TETFund recently accused from lecturers of mismanaging research grants and collecting funds for conferences they would not attend.

I look forward to Fayose being treated to a dose of this humor. cheesy

I remember attending LFC (rounder) in Abeokuta when they declared a special sunday to pray for deliverance for people from Kogi and Benue state. Sounded crazy, I now think it is prophetic.
Religion / Re: How A Muslim Made My Sunday This Morning by theSpark(m): 5:19pm On Aug 20, 2017
Hausa people are generally honest and less inclined towards worldly possessions. Religion has little to do with it, if not many of their correligionists in the South West wouldn't be dabbling into internet fraud.

Mods please try and do due diligence before pushing stuff to FP. The headline is misleading. Yesterday there was also a misleading topic about CAN suspending someone when it was his church thar was attempting to suspend him.
I hope these are not done on purpose to generate traffic or comments.
Do a thorough job.

He better remain where he was, I wonder how he believes PDP will give him their Presidential ticket. With GEJ whom he rubbished viciously while he was president as the current National Leader of the party? Loyal party members like Lamido and Dankwambo also have eyes on the pie.

Unless he wants to come and be the local champion controlling what happens in Kano even that one sef go hard because Shekarau is there.

Politics / Re: Should Nigeria Grant Morroco's Request To Join ECOWAS? by theSpark(m): 9:34am On Jul 25, 2017
Morocco joining Ecowas does not portend good. Our influence in the region will dwindle and they'll use Morocco to funnel European goods our way.

On the bright side going to Morocco visa free is not a bad idea. From there na to cross the channel enter Spain.
Politics / Re: War With Cameroon Imminent. by theSpark(m): 9:05am On Jul 25, 2017
Well in a way I'm happy that Anglo phone Cameroon have seen the consequences of their actions. When a referendum was held in the 1960s, the northern part chose to stay with Nigeria while the southern part decided to go with Cameroon. I believe after their maltreatment they've learnt their lesson.

In any war with Cameroon they will be valuable assets. I don't see how Nigeria will be defeated by Cameroon, we may receive a strong first beating but the response will leave Cameroon a wasteland. Besides if they try it Nigeria should annex the Anglo phone Cameroon back.

Which Kain FCT minister we get? H has warned and threatened them but it seems Fulani are above the laws of the land. How did we get here. To be frank this is why I detest northern presidents that are bigots. In Nigeria's capital city. This can't happen in Benin republic. I never saw cows in the city when Bala Mohammed held sway. This country is just tiring

The current FCT minister is the most incompetent so far, as far as I can remember. It seems his only duty is to escort the president to the airport when he's about to travel and welcome him back when he returns.
