Business / What Is Going With Diesel / AGO Pricing At The Depots? by tholuosa2: 3:17am On Jul 04, 2023
Over the past weeks, based on my own gathered information, AGO / Diesel has been on the downward trend over the past weeks.

As it is, there are three (3) things to note about the AGO market at Depot Level:

1.) There is glut driven by reduced bulk consumption, oversupply and availability of cheap AGO (directly or indirectly from Russia)

2.) There is pressure on the depot owners to sell down their stock, given exposure to bank liabilities that will continue to increase the longer they hold the product

3.) The truth about Diesel being overpriced and loaded by middlemen is about to be exposed. This is predicated upon the known Petroleum Industry Convention that: PMS should be cheaper AGO in a true market, save for exceptionally levied tax. This is being exposed by the direct involvement of marketers in buying PMS, which has a higher price per MT when compared to the purest of AGO (<10ppm sulfur)

The foregoing has set the stage for competition on price. NIPCO for instance sold at 495/litre last week. Some other parties offered 450.
Some are still sticking on their guns at 550/570 – for how long? We do not know.

Please share your thoughts and perspectives on this?
How long do you think it will take the ‘Glut’ clear?
What about further price correction or stabilization?

Please show with workings, how Tinubu's so called personal structure will deliver the South East and the South West.

justified007:

APC's surest bet is actually Tinubu. He's a very strong politician that is capable of getting millions of votes from his personal structure and associates and the other APC structures will only need to compliment his political reach but if they mistakenly produce someone that can't even win his unit because of the noise from the sorosoke idiots then they should kiss the party byebye.

^Ok cool. Did you attend the interview?

yes I did... the interview was a bit unorthodox - they had all the persons for a role sit down at the same time in row and answer questions from the interview panel.... it was bit fun though..... I have been actually out of the engineering loop for a while, so I am hoping and praying that this could put me back on track though, else I focus on my entrepreneurial activities totally

My expectations over the years has been for nairaland to transit to a full social network, while keeping the forum as it's underlying theme and product.... But in some ways Seun's conservatism has kept him this far.

Startechng: On a more serious note, nairaland is now more than a forum, i think creating an album, photos upload, social profile, gifts, invite/ email contact import, etc to nairaland would do a great help. Make it more like a social network site.. Nothing needs to be changed just a few more links at the header and footer thats all.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Hotnigerianjobs Accuses Jobberman Of Stealing Job Ads by tholuosa2: 1:22pm On Apr 05, 2013
Seriously, It is quite obvious that Jobberman has erred on many fronts. I for one never saw any great benefit to their service that will warrant paying any fees.

Thank God for sites like HNJ offering the adverts free, may God continue to bless them. However we must tell ourselves some truths; Most Nigerians are used to getting things (in various spectres of life) for free, feeling that it is their right to get premium services at no cost - though this might seem be possible now but I doubt its sustainability in the long run. We need to move from the culture of 'free' to the culture of 'value', meaning that we should see the value a service/product presents and be willing to commit resources to acquire the service/product for our own benefit. We need to stop the apparent falsehood that jobless graduates do not have anything they can spare or sacrifice for their own good, afterall they still find ways to load their phones, buy snacks once in a while, etc

So back to jobberman, they simply failed to show the x-factor of their service to the majority and thus could not possibly demand fees for what is not seen to be valuable......

Glo came before Mtn in Nigeria but instead of capturing major cities like lagos, Abj, Kano, Onitsha, PH etc, they was busy mountain mask at Oshogbo, Ife, Akure etc. Same thing with Hitv, they was busy buying cars for their staffs when they have premiereship right, instead of developing their stations

like really? Glo came before MTN? Guess you have some deepseated issues, instead of facing the topic you are spewing thrash about Yoruba not sabi-ing business. Perhaps you could share with us about your business success...

I will advise you, go somewhere quiet to think and liberate yourself from your pariochialism.

Business / Life (and Business) Lessons From The Manchester United – Real Madrid Match by tholuosa2: 1:06pm On Mar 07, 2013
LIFE (and BUSINESS) LESSONS FROM THE MANCHESTER UNITED – REAL MADRID MATCH

Like any true Manchester United fan, I am still distraught!
The Champions League loss against Real Madrid is still very raw, and as painful as it could ever get! No doubt there are many opinions and beliefs on what could have been and what not - with some (like my cousin) stating that this is ‘Karma’ for United – I have however, decidedly moved past the game, particularly the right or wrong of that ‘Red Card’.

Having seen the game come and gone, and following some mental reviews, I realized that the game had something else – life lessons. This led me to further consider and dig deeper into the events of the match, the end result of which is presented below as life and business lessons.

1.) Study your Opponent: In life we must all ensure that we study our opponents well, actually very well. In the real sense of it, an opponent is a thing you need to succeed against or in; it could be your job, a project, or a competitor. The onus lies on you and me to take time to know what makes our opponents tick – the strong and weak points. In the match in question Sir Alex showed that he had studied his opponent (Real Madrid) well. In studying your opponent, never be ashamed of asking for help from those who may know or have overcome your present opponent (there is a rumour that Sir Alex asked Malaga on how to beat Madrid).

2.) Have a Plan: This could never be overemphasized. The essence of knowing your opponent is to design or adapt a plan to ensure your own success. In crafting a plan, you will go most probably go through a lot of iterations, however the essential and overriding focus of the plan must be on exploring your opponent’s weaknesses and protecting yourself against their strengths.

3.) Execute Well: Your plan will be for all purposes useless if you cannot implement the contents of the plan as stated. Thus, there must be no complacency in execution. The plan does only 40% of the job for you, the rest 60% will only come from proper execution and detailing.

4.) Utilize the Right Resource(s): In a bid to properly execute a plan, one must only utilize the right resources suited for the plan! We all need to understand that the most experienced resource persons may not implement the plan well. As the buck stops at your table, you must carefully decide in the best interests of your success, only putting forward the resource(s) who will deliver your plan as conceived. Of course this is about dropping Rooney; Rooney lovers may think that leaving him out was a faux pas, but the firts 56mins of play proved otherwise. To business owners, CEOs and the likes; perhaps the project you have now would be handled better by a younger staff who is not yet a manager – his/her drive and youth may make the difference.

5.) Rules are RULES: The world is dominated and controlled rules and regulations. Rules that have been set or written will be applied on you, be it fair or not! While not counting out the possibility of exceptions, it is obvious that you cannot plan on exceptions. We will all do well to take note and be cognisant of all applicable and extant rules guiding our endeavours, making adjustments and guarding ourselves against running afoul of the rules.

6.) Always Have Contingency Plans: Notwithstanding how rosy things seem or appear to be going, we all need to ensure that we have another plan to take on contingent situations and surprises. Creating this plan ahead of time does help prepare and ensure that one has a strong chance of overcoming any eventuality. Creating this plan practically involves tweaking the present plan to “what if” scenarios and being able to compensate for possible and probable occurrences.

7.) Recover Quickly and Focus on Success: Irrespective of what happens to you, you must recover quickly, best if you do so instantly. You must never allow situations, challenges and disappointments control or immobilize you! The essence of having a plan ahead is to be able to react immediately.
Also, we must ensure, regardless of what happens to us, that our focus is kept on success and success alone! My dear Manchester United players and Sir Alex robbed themselves and the fans by feeling letdown and cheated for over 12 minutes. Their seethed anger and disappointment ensured they lost the game during critical moments. A major way of ensuring that we focus on success is by banishing a sense of entitlement from within – the players felt that Manchester United was entitled to having the red card incident in their favour. Please know today that you are not entitled to something until it is completely yours.

Politics / Re: Okada Riders Protesting In Lagos? by tholuosa2: 6:20pm On Oct 22, 2012
What I am reading on NL is disappointing but not surprising...

It is official, a lot of Nigerians nay Lagosians reason as if they have intellectual deficits seeped in primordial sentiments....

So it is better to leave the bikes on the road, and ignore the tens of Thousands dying and getting permanently disabled by okada riders? That appeals to you all? Right?

I do ride bikes often but it is obviously not safe to ride in the expressway, and the government restricted them from major highways and expressways to operate on the inner roads, they are lucky they were not completely banned as in other states.

In actual fact a lot of these okada riders are trained artisans such as welders who had complained that they left their trade due to the power issue, now that power supply is improving, can they please return to their main trade...
The other part of these riders consists of Aboki's, who can return to their villages to FARM! The Large number of these abokis is already a security risk as an ample number of them could be members of boko haram sleeper cells.

I DO NOT HOWEVER SUPPORT THE CRUSHING OF BIKES.

The government and security agencies should please crackdown and clampdown on all criminality in the name of protest..
About ACN not winning the next elections because of this, I beg to differ, they said worse when oshodi was cleared out, and I await to see any incoming governor that will promote disorder!

ACTION PLAN FOR MOVING FORWARD
1. Government meets with Okada stakeholders restating their policy stand
2. Government meets with Police Commisioner and DPOs to deal with areas of abuse, particularly unlawful arrests within inner roads (Surulere inclusive)
3. Government should publish and for the next 6weeks announce areas where bikes can ply freely
4. Implement agreed decisions and law as it may have been amended

Foreign Affairs / Re: Egypt Has A New President: Mohamed Morsi by tholuosa2: 2:25am On Jun 25, 2012
Back to the topic.

The Egyptian election result is result of complicated compromise!

The Egyptians actually had their hands tied - more than 50% of them wanted a president with secular leanings. Unfortunately and as we do also in Nigeria, the secularists failed to present a common front (presidential candidate) hence their loss in the first round of voting!

Most of those who voted for Morsi do not actually like him and his party, they did so because they believed Shafiq was a continued embodiment of Mubarak's governement - they voted with a part of their heart in fear and another part in hope that the brotherhood will be fair to all.

The Muslim Brotherhood had earlier said stated and promised that they will not contest for the presidency, they reneged on their word on seeing what they could do with power - that should have been enough flashing lights for the Egyptians instead of having a pathological hate for anything having a connection to Mubarak, even if it were an ordinary cat!

The military's action is a necessary evil to ensure Egypt's sanctity in matters of defence, foreign affairs and constitutional right of all citizens.

So, what are the lessons for all Nigeria?
1. We must all unite on a single platform to send any government not working for our progress - electing a true Nigerian having no bias to religion or ethnic domination
2. We must not trust any politician that lies and changes his/her word once they have opportunities for power-grabbing
3. We must not be quick to dismiss politicians on their prior affiliations (fashola was almost suffering this fate in 2007)

The future will be bright if we all stand tall and unwavering on the truth!

Foreign Affairs / The Real Truth About The Cote D'ivoire Impasse And How It Affects Nigerians by tholuosa2: 10:14pm On Dec 26, 2010
The current situation in Cote d'Ivoire is not correctly covered by the International media. Majority of Ivoirians will not like their country to be invaded by foreign powers. Relating with them on a daily bases has led to the realization that what is at stake is not just the question of how worn the election or not. It is an issue of the super powers interest. America and France are just playing games with African leaders. The Russians are more interested in wait and see. Russia opposed the initial UN Security Council effort, but suddenly agreed later. Would that not be link to the treaty that was signed by Obama few day after. Russia is buying war ship from France but the weapon system will be install by Russians in Russia. Where is Julian Assnage -- Wikleaks to show us what they have planned for Cote d'Ivoire. The French supported America to go to Iraq, they told the world they are looking for weapons of mass destruction. But after many years they are yet to find these weapons, but they are busy take away oil. The French have a major control on the economy of Cote d'Ivoire and the contract that gave them this control is terminating this year. It can only be renewed by only one man, the one who signed it with them in the 90s.
Now coming to the issue at stake, the election. We must be sincere, the two stake holders planned and played their games.

But let us ask some questions.
Why did Gbagbo agreed to hold an election knowing fully well that the rebels have not been disarmed?
Why did Alassane agreed with the composition of the constitutional council knowing fully well that it is organ that will give the final verdict?
When the election result was cancelled in France because Gbagbo was wining why was there not noise?
Why did the chairman of the electoral commission not give the result on time and at a neutral place?
Is it possible to have a free and fair election in a country that is divided into two with armed rebels on one side supporting one candidate?
It is either the election is free and not fair or fair and not free. We can not have the two.
It is an issue of who is the smartest of the contestants
More questions but for now, let us look at the main fear.

The Super powers want to use the regional body ECOWAS.
ECOMOG was in Liberia and Sierra Leone. Who can tell us how many Nigerian died in those countries?
Those head of states that took the decision are still alive today. The problem was not resolved by ECOMOG.
Nigeria wasted the lives of many Nigerians.
If war should break up today in Cote d'Ivoire, America and France has the capacity to take out her citizens
with hours.
Nigeria does not have such. And when you talk of ECOMOG majority will be Nigerians.
There over 2 million Nigerians living in Cote d'Ivoire.
Will Nigerian President be willing to sacrifice the lives of these Nigerians for the interest of France or America?
Because even if they succeed in using force as planned, Nigerians will become the primary target of Ivoirians.
Saddam Hussein has been removed long ago, but violence still continue in Iraq till today.

Please, let Nigerians all over the world tell our president to read in between the lines. Nigeria does not have any major interest in Cote d'Ivoire to worth risking the lives of her citizens. Unlike France, Cote d'Ivoire to them is a gold mine.

It may take just few hours or days of arms combat to get to Gbagbo and remove him from office but the war that it will start may last for the next 20 years. If Cote d'Ivoire should go down, many African countries will go
with her.

Nigeria should not sow evil seed that generation yet unborn will have to reap the fruits.
