Politics / Re: BREAKING NEWS: President Buhari Approves Amnesty For Boko Haram (DETAILS) by Tightguy(m): 3:43pm On Aug 06, 2015
Shit !!!
I knew long before now that all these increased spate of bombings lately was geared towards granting of amnesty.
Now I don't even know whether to celebrate the news or see it as another misguided decision by the FG.
Anyways I reserve my comment till I see the full details of such amnesty .
Politics / Re: Amaechi Behind Arrest Of Embattled Rivers REC – Family by Tightguy(m): 9:39pm On Jul 28, 2015
This is why Nigerian politics would forever remain several years behind.
Party "X" is in power today and would use all the state machineries to frustrate/intimidate party "Y". Eventually when party "Y" gets to taste power , it would also wanna retaliate. And the circle continues.
Come to think of it , the DG DSS is still there in acting capacity and he has already moved against several high profile opposition members.
Now I believe more in the saying "absolute power corrupts absolutely"

I think it's somewhat a move in the right direction by the NFF , for the first time.
I really feel it's time for other hands to be tried as the gaffer for the Super Eagles . Better still , an ex player. At least let's see what Sunday Oliseh has to offer.
Meanwhile I hope those guys at the glass house are aware that Mr. Oliseh is a no-nonsense man. He is not the type of person that you can draw up a list of players to invite for ; or arrange a friendly match against the likes of Cape Verde or Ethiopia for .....

REALLY ?
If by any chance this news is true , then its a case of mixed feeling for me.
1. At least i am happy that the workers in the affected states would finally get their salaries , ohhpppssss.
2. What measures would the FG put in place to prevent this issue from becoming a recurrent decimal in the near future ?
3. We were made to understand that the FG as at last month was borrowing to pay workers' salary. What now becomes their fate when/if they decide to add to this burden from salary of workers in some states ??
4. What if the situation of falling oil prices doesn't improve , how will those same affected states cope ?

Politics / Re: Fashola, Segun Oni, Amaechi, Ezekwesili, Danbazzau May Make Buhari’s Cabinet. by Tightguy(m): 5:08am On Jun 13, 2015
Exactly 14 days after his inauguration , PMB is yet to appoint an SGF or chief of staff. That makes me suspect there could be a lot of in-house politicking and interest groups in the party that want to be pacified.
It doesnt take rocket science to predict that the likes of BRF , Dambazzau , Fayemi , Amaechi , Prof Utomi , Chris Ngige , Ogbonnaya Onu , +/- Madam due process , would make it to PMB's cabinet. I really dont see reasons why Oyinlola , Segun Oni , Kawu Baraje are doing on that list undecided shocked.
Meanwhile i thought the NASS has deferred plenary till June 23 , so who is PMB forwarding the list to next week ? shocked undecided undecided

Hmmm , i just pray and hope that this might not be the beginning-of-the-end for AIT & High Chief Aleogho Dokpesi. He is already owing workers' salary at rest , what would then happen when/if PMB uses the Federal government machinery to frustrate his business as a way of retaliation for all the character assassination during the campaigns grin tongue

Meanwhile my sincere sympathy goes out to all the numerous workers being owed salaries in any part of the country. By God's special grace when our (magical) president eventually makes the $ = Naira

, or stops the crude oil price from falling internationally , there will be enough CHANGE to pay all of us all our arrears.

Very apt interpretation of a commonly misconceived section of the constitution .
Simply put , the president has the liberty to appoint as many members as he wishes into his cabinet but he doesn't have the liberty of choosing all of them from one state/area/geopolitical zone.
Having said that , let me state categorically that I don't wish to be in President Buhari ' s shoes right now. The man is definitely stuck between appeasing all the numerous interest groups that worked for the success of the party and keeping the cost of governance as low as possible .

Health / Re: Medical Negligence In Nigerian University Clinics Has To Stop!!! by Tightguy(m): 7:42am On Jun 01, 2015
Quite unfortunate and pathetic cases. May God grant their souls eternal peace in His bosom.

Please permit me to point out some perceived misconceptions in your story , if you don't mind :
1. Justin was admitted without any medical examination conducted on him. This can't be true in my opinion because he couldn't have been the only patient that was seen at the clinic that night. But there was definitely an indication for him to be admitted. This is usually obtained after thorough physical examination . Except if u were trying to imply that no tests were conducted on the boy ; in any case most clinics as such lack the facility to run 24 hrs laboratory and diagnostic services.
2. Justin was refused food all through his stay at the clinic. This may have been possible ONLY if he was unconscious most of the time. In such instance the drips would suffice because attempting to feed him would only result to more danger.
3. No qualified medical doctor/health professional orders for blood transfusion at PCV of 45% ; rare even at 27% as claimed by Justin ' s mum.
4. Maybe the nurses in the first case u highlighted insisted on seeing the patient's hospital card b4 attending to him so as to see if he had any history of severe medical condition that could not be handled there at the clinic and might need immediate referral to a bigger facility.
By and large , I'm not attempting to exonerate any of the accused health workers of contempt/negligence to duty ; it's just that both sides of the story have to be heard b4 reaching conclusions.

Politics / Re: Osun Assembly Approves Creation Of 36 Additional Councils by Tightguy(m): 5:12am On May 28, 2015
IMAGINE !! A poor state that is still looking for resources in order to pay the teeming staff for over 6 months , has gone ahead to create more local councils and development areas. This literarily implies more responsibilities , more offices , more employments , hence more salaries to be owed.
I expect the dumb assembly at this most trying time for the state to make legislations that would help improve the internally generated revenue for the state. They should also increase their oversight function to large federal institutions domiciled in the state and the state board of internally generated revenue , to be sure they are all remitting and collecting the appropriate taxes respectively.
Ohh my dear country , when are we going to ever get our priorities right

Politics / Re: Anambra Govt Bans Motorcycles & Tricycles On Highways by Tightguy(m): 2:15pm On May 27, 2015
Well ......... Good policy but wrong timing.
1. Any government policy with apparent harsh outcome, no matter how good it may appear , should first be communicated to the masses by way of town hall meetings and random discussions. This would help convince the people on the advantages of such. Otherwise they would reject such out rightly .
2. Adequate alternative measures should have been put in place way b4 implementation of such policy so as to cushion some of the expected rise in unemployment . Things like provision of taxis , buses , tricycles by way of soft loans and grants .
3. Such harsh decisions are better made in 2nd tenure , else it could cost the governor his reelection bid. Ask Oshiomole and BRF know why they did I so in their 2nd tenures. Or better still find out from Ikedi Ohakim part of the reasons he couldn't secure reelection in 2011.
3. Anambra state is unique because it has the highest indigenous assembly plant for motorcycles. Hence banning it's use in the state would be tantamount to more economic loss.

At a particular point in time we thought our worst moment as a country was going to be the 2015 electioneering period ; but that has come & gone.
Now tell me what could be worse than what we currently face : an all time low power supply , lack of fuel/other petroleum products , lots of state governments not being able to meet up with salaries/wages & security challenges in parts of the north , amidst harsh global economic challenge.
May God help us survive this period.

Health / Re: Is Cancer Curable? by Tightguy(m): 8:47am On May 03, 2015
YES YES cancer is treatable and curable. As an oncologist , I meet a lot of people on daily basis who were diagnosed of cancer at a time but who are today living totally free from cancer cells and symptoms.
Some cancers are regarded as curable and include , among others : breast , ovarian , testicular , stomach , lymphomas , melanoma , colored talk , etc. Chances are that if you are diagnosed with any of these EARLY enough , you could become totally cured following proper treatment.
NB : The keyword is"early" diagnosis. That's the only way to guarantee cancer cure. As for your relative , with intrapersonal and distant metastasis (spread) of the cancer cells , chances of cure are almost non - existent ; but of course ONLY God has the final say.
Health / Re: Owerri FMC Staff Protest Privatisation By Dr Uwakwem (MD) by Tightguy(m): 8:33am On May 03, 2015
In as much as government - owned institutions really need some guided private input as regards the management for efficient running of services , I still have my reservations towards privatisation of health care services.
Advantages include : reduction in incessant strike actions by health workers , less of redundant/unproductive staff , overall improved cost - effectiveness & a drastic decline in avoidable hospital moralities.
Drawbacks include , among others : increased incidence of casualization of staff , very low slots/none at all for internship &/or residency trainings , selective enrichment of a few individuals, etc.

Elections would be violent in parts of Rivers state , no doubt but one can't still rule out the fact that several of these desperados can raise false alarm so as to discourage people from coming out to cast their votes.

These guys now throw caution & dignity to the winds just because of politics. Is Gov Okorocha now by any means attempting to rationalise such obnoxious & preposterous comments made by Oba Akiolu What a shame !!!

Rochas should better find out from Ngige the consequences of aligning himself with the callous actions/words of a few individuals from the west.
When Gov. Fashola came up with the deportation saga of Ndigbo , Sen Ngige claimed there was nothing wrong with taking such actions & guess what , we decided to vote against him in both the 2013 Anambra gubernatorial election & the 2015 senatorial race. Now he is busy crying wolf & following GMB up/down , hoping to at least be given a political appointment.
Now i see the long-term political prostitute , Gov Okorocha , towing the same path of destruction. Hmmmmm , a word is enough for the wise.
Politics / Re: SE And SS Will Be The Decider by Tightguy(m): 8:41am On Mar 30, 2015
I beg to disagree. I think the decider would be the votes coming from states like Nassarwa , Adamawa , Taraba & Plateau. Whoever wins these states in the North central would most likely become the president-elect. There is no gain saying that PDP is expected to sweep majority of the votes in the SE & SS.
Meanwhile GEJ ............carry go sir.

Health / Re: Medical Negligence In A Hospital In Lagos. Read This Shocking Story by Tightguy(m): 11:38pm On Mar 20, 2015
A pad is usually inserted into a woman's vagina immediately after delivery (whether normal delivery or C/s) to reduce her chances of further bleeding; but it's usually removed a few hours after ; once the woman is confirmed not to be bleeding. So leaving a pad in - situ for 2dayS (as quoted by this account ) is an unhealthy practice on the part of the health practitioners.
However let me put some records straight :
1. The story has it that the woman came from her house after 2days to harass the doctor. ..... Point is : There is hardly any hosp where a woman is discharged from the hospital within 24hrs after a C/s.
2. The woman was shouting and threatening the doctor.......... Point is : After just 2days of C/s , the patient would still be very weak and struggling to barely stand from the bed. She can NEVER have such strength as to shout to the level the writer is trying to make us believe.
So this woman may just have had a difficult normal delivery with episiotomy which was repaired ; & not a cesarean section. So please verify your facts young man before raising alarm next time.

NB : I'm not in any way justifying any doctor's actions or inactions pls.
Politics / Re: An Average Nigerian Is Corrupt Yet Blames It On Mr President by Tightguy(m): 10:13am On Dec 20, 2014
The earlier Nigerians realised that there is no automatic switch where GMB (the Messiah) would switch off corruption in the country , the better for all of us. Corruption has become so endemic in Nigeria that no-one would claim sainthood.
- Bribes are paid before children are admitted into the best federal unity or private secondary schools
- O-level exams are taken by mercenaries for candidates , with the full consent of their parents.
- Admissions into choice courses in the Universities is all about your affiliation with the V.C or Registrar; NEVER on the basis of merit.
- Upon graduation , the few who get employment in Nigeria are the sons/daughters of the well connected dudes.
- Enrollment into the military/paramilitary formations is for the descendants of the generals and the politicians.
- Procuring juicy contracts is about the quality of your "kick-back" & NEVER about the quality of your proposal.

The guy gets married , gives birth to a son and the cycle starts all over again. So the entire life cycle of an average Nigerian is entangled in corruption.
Even you , yes you that is blaming GEJ for the corruption in the country know fully well that you are working in that office of yours today because of the person you know ; not because you are qualified for it.
If the only thing GMB is sure of doing in Aso rock come 2015 is to "FIGHT corruption" , id rather stick with GEJ who would "TRANSFORM corruption" cheesy grin shocked cool tongue

Sincere9gerian: So sad. I dont think we have all the information on how the ebola virus is contracted. It seems the virus is far more infectious than the literatures suggests. From the accounts of victims so far, some contracted the disease even without having DIRECT contact with sick infected persons. I seems the virus is also airborne

I absolutely align my thoughts with yours. The case of the American doctor who tested +ve to Ebola virus today in Liberia but never came in contact with or treated any patients with Ebola disease makes one wonder whether there are other possible means of contracting the disease other than body fluids of infected symptomatic patients.
