Crime / Soldier Shot Me,police Man Apologise And Chained Me To Hospital Bed,enugu Man by tim4favour(f): 12:54pm On Sep 26, 2020
Mr Abraham Ani, who is from Ezza in Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State , was recently shot in the leg by a soldier during a clash between the army and the Indigenous People of Biafra in Enugu . Ani is shackled to a hospital bed where he is receiving treatment . He insists in this interview with RAPHAEL EDE that he was on his way to church when he was shot
A report said you were shot by a soldier in front of your house on August 23, 2020 . What led to it ?
I live around Emene in Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu state . I was going to church , St . Joseph’ s Catholic Church , Emene , that fateful morning . I was getting to the main road when I saw some people coming back from church . I asked one person among them what was happening and he said some people went to the church during 5 : 30 am Mass and said they should be dismissed . He said the reverend father told everyone to return home. So , I turned back to return to my house . While I was walking towards my house , I saw some people running towards me and when I looked back, I saw a soldier running after them . The soldier was shooting at them , so I hid behind a vehicle parked near my house as the shooting went on in the neighbourhood
Then the soldier came to where I hid and said I should come out . Then he started dragging me . So I asked what offence I committed or if it was a crime for me to hide while they were shooting in the neighbourhood . I started begging him to look at me as I was dressed for church and that I was told on my way to return home because the officiating priest had dismissed the congregation . But he was shouting at me and his colleague arrived and told him to let me go. Then he shot me in the leg .
Who were those running from the soldiers?
I learnt they were residents who were watching and videoing what they were doing at the main road . What happened afterwards ?
The gunshot drew the attention of the people in the neighbourhood and when they saw me in a pool of blood , they started shouting . They took me to a nearby hospital.
Were you aware that there was a clash between the Indigenous People of Biafra and security agents at Community High School , Emene that morning ?
I didn ’t know about it. If I knew about it, I would have stayed in my house and prayed to my God there . There was no gunshot when I left home; it was later when I was in the hospital that gunshots were being fired indiscriminately . It was as if a war was going on .
Can you recognise the soldier that shot you ?
No , but from his ascent , I know he was Hausa .
Did you report the incident to the police?
I was in the hospital when some soldiers and policemen came to look for me . They saw as the doctor was dressing the wound . They apologised to me and said what happened was ‘temptation ’ and they left. Later in the evening , another set of policemen came ; they asked me questions about how it happened and I explained what happened . I showed them the ID card given to me at Emenite where I work . They sympathised with me , said it was an accident and left.
What type of work do you do at Emenite ?
I work in the production unit . We produce all kinds of roofing sheets .
So how did you get to the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu?
I was at the hospital in Emene from August 23 till 26 , when the doctor there referred me to the orthopaedic hospital. He told me that the bullet shattered my bone and that he could not treat me in his hospital. So on August 26 , other policemen from Emene came and told me that they wanted to take me to the orthopaedic hospital. I asked them why and told them I would not follow them if my relation would not join us . I called one of my brothers who came and joined me in their vehicle . They took me to the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department instead of the orthopaedic hospital. And while I was in their vehicle, one policeman called Henry and his colleague went to the office of the police commissioner , Ahmad Abdurrahman.
I don’t know what they discussed but he came back and told me that my God was with me , otherwise they would have ‘wasted ’ me . He said I should thank God when I get better . I told him God is my father and he is alive . I said I would never involve myself in crime and criminality . It was then they took me to the orthopaedic hospital . I was excited so I gave them some money and we exchanged phone numbers . However , the following morning , the one called Henry returned and cuffed my leg to the hospital bed . I asked him what the problem was and he said the commissioner ordered him to do so while they investigated the case . He came when I called to tell him the hospital wanted to operate on my leg and after the surgery, he cuffed me to the bed again .
Who pays for your medical treatment ?
I am the one paying the medical bills . I told you that after a discussion with the police commissioner , those policemen told me they would have wasted me and that I should give thanks to God . How many people do you know that have been killed after the incident ? I have been paying for the surgeries that have been performed on my leg so far . Right now , I don ’t have money to pay for another surgery . My wound is still open and I don ’t even have money to buy drugs now . I just cry day and night for help. I eat because the hospital provides food for me and adds the cost to my bill .
Since the police said they were investigating the incident , have they taken your statement ?
The day the policeman said to be the investigating police officer chained me to the bed – August 26 , he said he would come the following day to take my statement , but he has yet to do so . He has only visited the hospital three times since August 26 . Those three times , I was the one who called him . He came when the hospital wanted to operate on the leg and removed the cuffs . He put them back after the operation . The second time was when he came to collect the phone number of my boss and the third time was when I was moved from the emergency unit to the ward.
What is your demand ?
I want the police to remove the cuffs on my leg because I am innocent and they should take care of me until I get better . I am not a criminal or a member of any organisation .

Sunday Igboho: An Intractable Revolutionary

First, it was one of the Personal Assistants to the Governor of Oyo State, who tried to locate him. After he did, the PA wanted him to come to the Government House at Agodi. He told the PA that he was busy and couldn't come. The PA asked him to hold on, then handed the phone to his boss, Governor Seyi Makinde (GSM) who wanted to know his whereabouts. His answer was not what GSM wanted to hear. GSM appealed to him to come over to the Government House.

While all these conversations were going on, General Yusuf Buratai, the most malevolent Chief of Army Staff in Fulani Republic of Nigeria's1pq1qA trajectory, was sitting there in silence, praying and hoping that Mr. Sunday Igboho would take the bait and agree to come to the Government House. Whatever plans Buratai had for Mr. Igboho, was frustrated because he could not be convinced to come.

As at that time, when GSM was inviting Mr. Igboho, the vicinity of his residence had lorry - loads of soldiers packed here and there. Their purposes and objectives were not clear. But the brave warrior of and for Oòduà Nation suspected their intent. He ignored them, doing his thing. His preparations for the October 1, 2020 march to further reinforce the desire of the Yorùbá people for Oòduà Nation was in top gear.

The enemies coagulated under the auspices of Fulani herdsmen, being enabled by the appurtenances of Nigerian State would seek to destroy him. They have been trying to trace him and arrest him. They have his residence monitored. They have his close friends monitored. Many of his aides are also being monitored. But the owners of Oòduà Land would not let this happen. Knowing the way they operate, these enemies would not give up, and he himself must not relent.

"I am not going to be deterred," he had said in a small meeting in which we jointly participated. "This is to be expected. We are not afraid of them. It is time to liberate our land. Yorùbá would not be slaves in their land. Omo Oòduà ni wa," he had explained further. He then added, "We know their tactics, to intimidate and arrest without trial. But they won't be able to stop us. We will have our Oòduà Nation."

Already, word was out that they were planning to arrest him. They were determined to sabotage the October 1 March. The Intelligence officers, like ravenous ants on a mission blessed by the morning dew, are crawling all over the place. They want to have him arrested so that he won't be there for the Yorùbá Nation to play his patriotic role in the March For Freedom; in the March of Freedom.

Despite the fact that Mr. Igboho seems to be a number of steps ahead of them, it remains to be seen whether the agents of the Fulani Federal Government would succeed in their dastardly plans to arrest him. They have made Mr. Sunday Igboho the focus of the October 1, 2020 protest march. But he does not mind. His followers are confident and self assured. They are not worried. They are brave warriors for Oòduà Nation.

Some detractors have been trying to hawk undue animosity against Mr. Igboho. They have been condescending from their high horses because they have a chain of degrees after their names. They have been contending that Mr. Igboho was not exposed and has not received the kind of "education" that they had. They have forgotten that whiteman's "education" has limited values compared to being actually educated in the ways of our fathers, and the values we inherited from them.

This kind of detractors whose "education" made them to follow certificate forgers as leaders; whose "education" made them to mobilize for a dullard in Mohammadu Buhari who never graduated from a High School to lead this contraption; whose "education" turned to eaters of crumbs while throwing away their self dignity and whose "education" made them unable to stand up, defend their land, their mothers, their daughters, obviously, need some real education in the real sense of it.

Jesus Christ was an ordinary carpenter. Out of his 33 years of physical existence, only the last three was dedicated to his ministry. The impact of those threw years could be attested to by all and sundry. Incidentally, Sam Nujoma of Namibia was also a carpenter. He delivered his people from slavery and colonialism. It is not the height in which you are that matters, it is lowly from whence you come.

In all great moments of History, Providence has a way of intervening. It has a way of resetting the roles of individuals, the roles of a group, the roles of communities and the roles of a race. At such great moments, when seismic events that have shaken the destinies of men took place, those who play indelible roles are never forgotten. They are eternally remember for their heroics.

Mr. Sunday Igboho has been thrusted into the midst of all this to play his role. He has picked up the gauntlet. His concern is the freedom of Yorùbá race from the Fulani or any type of domination in our space. Mr. Igboho has hearken the clarion call. He has heard the shrill cries of our women and daughters. He has heard the agonies of the victim of arson and destruction. He wants to play his own part. He is ready to stand in gap for his own Yorùbá people.

Mr. Igboho is on the threshold of monumental History making. Yes, this is an opportunity to write his name into History. It is an opportunity that does not come very often. It is an opportunity to separate himself from the run of the mill. Mr. Igboho himself understands the dynamics. He was not born yesterday. He would conduct himself appropriately. He knows what to do.

Kí orígun mérìndínllógún Ilé Oòduà kó tî léhìn. Àse.

"In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shrink from this responsibility - I welcome it.

-John F. Kennedy

Following the directive from the accountant general that all Federal university will henceforth received January salary from IPPIS, staffs of Federal university otuoke were very happy, bursary unit will not be deducting their salary again. On the 31st of January 2020.Bank alert started coming from different bank, surprisingly, the addition to their salary was the sum of Five thousand naira for the junior staff. As a result of this development, majority of the junior staff started going to the bursary unit to know the reason for the addition. It was when they got there they knew Federal Government have paid the minimum wage, as if that was not enough some of the staff received only Three Thousand Naira. The question is this,if NYSC received Thirty Three Thousand Naira as minimum wage? which is about the addition of Fifteen Thousands Naira, what's is happening to Federal university otuoke.

According to management of federal university otuoke, there was short fall of salary in the month of December, resulting to management borrowing money from the school cooperatives. The borrowed money was used to pay sabbatical lecturers, these lecturers come to school to teach ones in a blue moon because they are professor working in different schools. The vice chancellor have the opportunity to collect money at will from the cooperative because the school remit money to the cooperative account every month.

There is going to be protests today 3rd of February 2020., at federal university otuoke, because of this deduction. Though the NASU chairman Ebesi have promised the staff he will visit other school to know the amount they received.

The registered was asked why will they pay five thousand naira addition to the salary, he said because they were not given template to pay salary by the federal government.

Mrs Zainab Ahmed, the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning says arrears of consequential adjustment for the new minimum wage will be paid to workers in December.

The truth be told, staff of Federal University Otuoke are not happy with this development, most especially the junior staff. They were very happy after the capturing at the university, their salary will be coming through the IPPIS.Where they can get their salary in full, with all their allowances attached.

The last time, the school paid promotion allowance and earned allowance they paid some higher than others. They even tag it part payment, only God knows when the other part will be paid.

Federal university otuoke, appealing to the minister of finance to pay the minimum wage arrears through IPPIS not through the school account. Enough is enough
