As part of efforts to recover all its properties, the Bauchi State government has seized a total 22 vehicles in the possession of the wives of former governor of Bauchi State, Isa Yuguda. The Chairman of the Transition Committee, Senator Mohammed Mohammed who spoke yesterday at the Government House in Bauchi said that the recovery of the vehicles was in tandem with the mandate of the committee to recover all items confirmed to have been allocated against due and return them to the government. He said:” we have so far, recovered a total of 22 cars from the wives of the former Governor, Isa Yuguda. We recovered 11 cars from his first wife, seven from the second wife and four from the third wife. We are yet to recover the remaining cars from his fourth wife who is currently out of the country. “We will ensure that whoever is in possession of government properties will be forced to return them. We urge public servants and the general public, especially those involved in the disposal and allocation of the property in question to cooperate with the committee for the effective discharge of its assignment.” Governor Mohammed Abubakar had vowed that he would employ all measures to trace funds and property allegedly looted during the tenure of the immediate past administration under Yuguda in the state. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/06/bauchi-govt-seizes-22-vehicles-from-yugudas-wives/ 1 Like |

Ever since Korede Bello released his chart topping song, Godwin , encomiums have continuously poured in for the song. TATTLES even said the song “would be around for a long, long time.” However, not everyone feels so strongly about the video. Funke Edidi of tooxclusive.com shares her opinion. 1. Bovi Everybody loves Bovi, but as is typical of the Nigerian entertainment industry we tend to overdo things. I mean after watching the ‘Hour of Victory’ flick, I did laugh a bit. Plus it added an extra 40 seconds (or more) to the 3minutes+ video, however it was as unnecessary as the ‘k’ in knee, and if we are being honest here we’ve seen Bovi do better. 2. That Dance At first when I saw the dance I simply assumed our dear Korede Bello was on the verge of an epileptic fit, (I mean it could have been part of the story line…) What was that? Seriously? I literally cringed every time Korede did the very weird ….I don’t even know what to call it! As for DonJazzy, don’t be an agbaya please. I’ve heard and read various comments on that dance and none of it fit for public consumption so I’ll just keep them to myself. I get that Korede isn’t that much of a performer. I mean I’ve watched him struggle to actually get into character on stage and in videos except maybe Dorobucci where he actually had to act cute so that didn’t prove to be too much trouble. But if you really had to do a dance (or shall I call it jig?) try and get a choreographer to show you some moves so you don’t end up looking like a Fulani cultural dancer without his stick. Just don’t do that ever again! On the flip side, his attempt at Igbo dance was pretty impressive. 3. He winked, again! Someone needs to tell Korede to stop with his winks! It was cute in Dorobucci video, it was getting a little bit worrying in the Adaobi video, now it’s just plain annoying!! Please retire the wink!! I’d describe Godwin as an energetic song with a feel-good nature that inspires this feeling of gratitude and makes you want to do a little jig, sadly watching this video will almost bring all that to a screeching halt. http://leadership.ng/entertainment/441560/3-things-wrong-with-godwin-video |

There is an uproar brewing over the pronouncement made by a popular minister of the word of God about imprisoning women. The visibly angry man of God can not hide his annoyance when he vent his wrath on these group of women. Popular televangelist, John Hagee, has come out to accuse women that calls God’s name during sex. The American pastor said this on the basis of the biblical commandment of not calling the name of God in vain. In an interview he granted newslo.com, Hagee, the founder of the Cornerstone Church in San Anthonio, Texas, said: “if you’re asking about my personal opinion, there is no greater sin in terms of wrongly using God’s name than women who use it during sex. That is one of the filthiest; most derogatory and sinful uses of the Lord the Lord’s name I can think of. If it were up to me, I would put every single woman or girl who does that in jail. That would be a fine example of God’s wrath aimed at what is, in my opinion, a terrible misuse of Maker’s good name.” To buttress his opinion, Hagee said that the Bible in strong terms forbids calling the name of God in vain. “One of the things that the bible has consistently denounced is the taking of the Lord’s name in vain. In fact, one of the Ten Commandments in the Old Testament states: “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain” (Exodus 20:7). The word “vain” means “for no reason” or “useless,” he explained. However, many have seen the televangelist utterance as controversial and also debatable. Various argument for or against it have been raised. Some are also asking, “Don’t men scream the name of God in the heat of sex? What punishment should be given to them. http://www.naij.com/465153-pastor-angry-at-women-who-scream-gods-name-during-sex.html 1 Like |

As there were preparations this week for President Muhammadu Buhari to meet with the head of the leading global corruption watchdog, Clare Short this week, a new allegation has been brought forward. According to Daily Times, a credible source has revealed how the Jonathan administration had sold an oil bloc for $1.85 billion, but made available a meager amount of $100 million. This, which topped the agenda of the meeting will be probed to know what exactly went wrong. The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), Clare Short, is a world body committed to enthroning transparency, accountability and prudent management of revenues from oil, gas and mining to support development and reduce poverty in resource rich countries like Nigeria. However, the executive secretary of the EITI in Nigeria, Zainab Ahmed, said over $7.5 billion between 1999-2011 have been unaccounted for in the oil and gas sector in the country. “The amount represents clear cases of underpayments, under-assessments of taxes, royalties, rents… which have not been adequately addressed in the past. NNPC was unable to provide any evidence that the funds were remitted to the federation as required by law,” she said. Recall that the former central bank governor, Lamido Sanusi, was sacked by Jonathan after raising an alarm about unaccounted $20 billion by the federal government in oil revenues between 2012 and 2013. Meanwhile, it is an open secret that government rely heavily on proceeds from bulk oil sales but there has been little oversight of how these are handled. http://www.naij.com/465278-jonathan-remitted-100m-for-sold-1-85b-oil-bloc.html |

An advice to those who consume sexual enhancers. This man came to a medicine store at my neighbourhood where I go to chat with friends, he told the owner of the shop that he had an erecction that has lasted for about 21 hours and was screaming in pains. My friend couldn't do anything to help and we took him in my car to a general hospital where a nurse was attending to him. He bought something that looked like groundnut from an abokii which led to this.

The South African recipient of the world's first penile transplant is to become a father, a surgeon who performed the operation has told the BBC. His girlfriend has reported that she is about four months pregnant, and this showed that the "transplant worked", said Andre van der Merwe. The 21-year-old recipient, whose identify is being protected, lost his penis in a botched circumcision. The operation took place in December. Surgeons at Stellenbosch University and Tygerberg Hospital performed a nine-hour operation to attach a donated penis. Dr Van der Merwe said he was "very pleased" when he heard that the man's girlfriend was pregnant, and had not asked for a paternity test as there was no reason not to believe the couple. Further transplants "This is what we intended, that he should be able to stand up and be able to urinate and have intercourse, so it is a milestone for him," Dr Van der Merwe told the BBC. He had not expected the man to be infertile, as he had an issue with his penis, not his testicles, the surgeon added. Dr Van der Merwe said the surgical team is yet to review the success of the operation, and may then carry out further transplants. The boy had been left with just 1cm of his original penis as a result of the botched circumcision. He was 18 and sexually active at the time. When attaching the donated penis, the surgical team used some of the techniques that had been developed to perform the first face transplants in order to connect the tiny blood vessels and nerves. There have been attempts at penis transplants before, including one in China. Accounts suggested the operation went well, but the penis was later rejected. Doctors say South Africa has some of the greatest need for penis transplants in the world. Dozens, some say hundreds, of boys are maimed or die each year during traditional initiation ceremonies. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-33103294 |

The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) on Saturday urged electricity consumers to brace up for upward adjustment in tariffs to partly meet reality of the prevailing economic situation. Oladele Amoda, EKEDC’s Chief Executive Officer, made the plea in Lagos at a stakeholders’ consultative forum to rub minds with the customers on the need to adjust electricity tariffs. NAN reports that currently, the company is charging N26 per kilowatts for a residential building. Justice Mohammed Idris of Federal High Court in Lagos had on Thursday renewed an earlier order restraining the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) from implementing the new electricity tariff. NERC had proposed tariff increase effective from June 1, but the judge restrained NERC and the electricity distribution companies from making any increment in electricity tariff. Idris gave the order in a ruling on an ex-parte application filed by a Lagos lawyer, Toluwani Adebiyi, against increase in electricity tariff. EKEDC chief said, “There is no way we can have stable power supply without adjusting our tariffs, because currently, we are running at a loss. “The company is being run at a loss since its inception, because our investors had invested lots of money into the system which has not reflected on the supply distribution chain to the customers. “When you look at the economic indices, there is high increase of dollars in terms of exchange rate against naira, while prices of other things have also gone up. “Most of our equipment like transformers, cables, lines and so on, are being imported, and the cost effect of rising dollars had affected the cost of these materials. “Gas supply is also another issue which has been increased drastically by gas suppliers and they now feel reluctant to sell gas to industrialists due to price differential. “Except Federal Government stabilises the prices of gas and other things like importation, that is the only way the tariff adjustment can be stopped. “But we cannot just commence increase of electricity tariff without informing the regulators which will in turn fix the appropriate tariffs,” Amoda added. In their responses, Mr Sunday Durosimi, who represented Festac Housing Estate, Mr Oluwole Alfred, the representative of Lekki Estate, advised the company to have a rethink on the adjustment initiative. They said that customers would not take it lightly with the company if after the tariff adjustment there was no improvement in the electricity supply within their networks. |

Three men, who trekked to Yola in honour of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, are now stranded in Yola. The men, Salihu Jibrin, Aliyu Adamu and Abubakar Suleiman, who spoke to newsmen Saturday in Yola, said since their arrival they were unable to see their mentor, Atiku. They said all they needed was to see Atiku or his representatives to deliver their messages and go back to their various destinations. “I trekked for 38 days all the way from Lagos to Yola to see Atiku in view of his role over APC victory in the general election but up to now I was unable to see him. “I am now stranded with no money to go back; at times I sleep in motor park or squat with good Samaritans,” Jibrin said . Adamu, who rode bicycle from Kaduna to Yola, said he spent eight days on the way. “I want to thank the Secretary, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Adamawa Council, Mr Baba Zare, who had been assisting me since arrival to cope with the difficult situation I found myself. “I want to meet Atiku before finding my way back to Kaduna,” Adamu said. On his part, Suleiman, who trekked from Shelleng town, Adamawa, to Yola said he had been squatting from one relation to the other while waiting for an opportunity to see Atiku before going back home. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/06/3-trekkers-for-atiku-stranded-in-yola/ |

There are questions that Suleiman did not address to the reporters who interviewed him upon his arrival to Abuja. Ahmad Salkida, who witnessed Mr. Suleiman’s arrival to Abuja, said that “I am not good at maths or physics but did Suleiman use a compass or other modern equipments to track his movements?” “What is the expert account on the number of hours a man like Suleiman needs to cover such a distance?” he added. Hashimu Suleiman told reporters at the scene that the journey took 13 days. However he did not provide important details on the time he left Lagos or the going away celebrations he may have had. Significantly, Mr. Suleiman also did not explain his walking and resting schedule along the arduous 746Km journey, which would be more than a 9 hour drive by car. Mr. Suleiman also did not explain the people he met along his more than two week walk, or where he stayed during the journey. President-Elect Buhari does not know Mr. Hashimu, but he promised to see upon his arrival to Abuja. As at time of filling this report he was being led into the City Center by an unprecedented crowd who accompanied and policemen who are controlling the crowd around him. http://saharareporters.com/2015/04/20/man-trekking-buhari-arrives-abuja-too-few-details-his-journey

General Muhammadu Buhari has allegedly rejected advances by top serving officials who have been flocking into his house in Daura, Katsina allegedly lobbying for positions in his administration. Nigeria Bulletin reports quoting Per Second news “Buhari was enraged when “the current Comptroller-General of Customs, Abdullahi Dikko Inde, visited his residence in Daura to pay homage last week.” General of Customs, Abdullahi Dikko Inde Per Second News also learnt that the customs boss who coincidentally hails from, Musawa Local Government Area, Katsina state immediately after informing the President-Elect of his mission was advised to go back to his duty post. Dikko, shocked by Buhari’s response. He tried unsuccessfully to inform the retired General of the situation at all Nigeria’s borders, seaport and the airports, but the President-elect upbraided the 55 year-old that the ideal procedure is to wait until he has been sworn in as president, describing the visit as unhealthy, unethical and disloyalty to a government he is still serving. He thereafter asked the customs boss to leave his residence, rejecting also his gift items. The Comptroller general and his team hurriedly left the residence, parking the valuables and gifts items along. There have been reports that top government officials serving under President Goodluck Jonathan are scared that Buhari will come after them when he assumes office due to their corrupt nature. Buhari meanwhile has stated that he will not be probing government officials who have been accused of embezzling funds when he assumes office. One such official, Mrs Diezani Alison- Madueke, who is minister of petroleum resources has been reported to be seeking asylum in foreign nations due to fears that Buhari will come after her. She has rejected such claims though. http://www.naij.com/422443-buhari-rejects-politicians-seeking-for-top-appointments.html |
