1-5% of protesters chanting negative utterances doesn't make a protest violent unless you want to tell me that all protests are violent.
And I've never heard of any school of thought on democracy stating that peaceful protests that go against national interest can be thwarted, given that national interest is a subjective concept. There's also no proof that anybody is sponsoring the protests. Protests also go beyond just sending a message. They can persist until action or compromise is taken by the government.
And assuming you are right, what do you have to say about Western governments condemning crackdown on protesters in other countries? Do you agree that they are hypocrites? 1-5% is it accurate or your personal opinion?. Negative utterances from this same minority has lead to violent protests or reactions. You shouldn't be supporting this esp if they are calling to arm. National interests are determined by the Govt in power, that's the power you give up when you elect or recognize them as your representatives. On the idea of sponsor, we usually don't have he level of information as the Govt does. certain protest started peaceful but turned violent. For any protest to be successful, it needs the support of the majority. All govts including Western are hypocrites. What protest are you talking bout? 2 Likes |

And so what aspects is Nigeria better?? A Guy posted a video about North Korea somewhere, I'm sure most of you still arguing on this topic do not have simple data to go watch it.
We'll be surprise those saying the truth here have benefited more on Nigeria's weakness more and are doing well than those defending it, if we check further we'll find out, most here are unemployed, they do not have good roof over their heads, access to clean water aside the boreholes/well in every compound, cannot afford two good square meal, they defecate in the open, no presentable clothing and above all not even up to N20,000 in their accounts. So why the noise about Nigeria that the leaders themselves are not proud of? A country that's on life support despite the huge natural and borrowed resources. The data you're presenting on Nigeria, do you've same data on N.Korea? If the Nigerian govt decides to run a propaganda video on how well off Nigeria is, it would be better than anything N.Korea can come up with. 1 Like |

What's there to discuss again. They said you should leave, leave. Niger has made up their mind and there's no coming back. This is a very big embarrassment to the USA and more embarrassment is still coming. USAs demise is really close now. A multipolar world order is best for everyone and the peace of the world. If only Africa can wake up as well and have a strong African union not this rubbish we have now where nations still wait for their colonial masters to give them orders. The US withdrawal from Niger in no way affects their global standing and there's really nothing happening rn that shows the US demise. I hope the AU steps up tho. We can't keep blaming colonial masters for bad leaders and policies. 1 Like |

Some point in the war, Russia was running low on stockpiles, that's the reason they had to switch from peace time economy to war time economy and focus on production. The statement by the German have certain functions, one is to garner more support for UKraine and the other is to garner support from Germans to be able to allocate more funds to their defence industry. 1 Like |

Limitations about what you can and cannot protest about? I get where you are coming from but this is not what the concept implies. This is the minority being denied their right to have a say. Democracy allows for more peaceful means to channel your requests. At the end of the day, when the Govt was sworn in, they were given certain power and privileges, if the Govt determines that the protest is against national interests or have shady sponsors they have the power to response with force. And democracy allows for anyone to contest elections, if you don't like the present govt dealings you can change them via elections. The protest itself has sent the message it was intended to send. |

Have you ever heard Iran condemning another country for cracking down on protesters? Of course you have not.
Americans are the ones that are always condemning others and bragging about how their people are allowed to protest, but see how they are expelling, threatening, and sending National Guard to people that are 200 times more peaceful than Black Lives Matter protesters.
You may think that I'm saddened by this, but I'm loving it 100%. This is the publicity the big hypocrite deserves in the international community. The illusion about Western democracy has come to an end. Every right has limitations. And the Govt still has the power to shape and determine public opinion. The minority would have their say but the majority would have their way. 1 Like |

Why bring Nigeria again into this? Looks like most of you are having problem...Same Tanzania with less than.. 50% electricity access and still struggling with power supply.
Note: Excess power production is normal even here in Nigeria...infact Nigeria main problem now is not power generation but transmission and distribution.
We also have power generation problem, we are targeting 6000 watts by 2025/26 for a population of almost 200M. |

Only reason they'll stay out of it is when a more unpredictable nut head player with threatening capabilities is involved and unfortunately no leader in the world fits in this description for now including Putin. Probably a bitter experience when they were under USSR.
But this is unnecessary foolishness. They are next door neighbour to Russia, they should try to be on good terms with Russia. Their overconfidence in NATO may shock them.
Someone made a comment here that one day Russia will directly attack a NATO nation and NATO would rather make excuses and be unwilling to trigger Article 5 because they do not want direct confrontation with Russia. If Russia attacks Estonia, there would be a response from NATO. 1 Like |

Nairaland will never cease to amuse me.
Let's go down a bit. You're an individual on a faceless forum called nairaland, with the moniker Tiopii. I can easily tell you're not the best at what you do nor studied in school in the community you're from. That simple means you're not the most significant figure in your community, nor local government, nor state, nor in your country Nigeria. But you called a Russian project insignificant.
The same country that lunched the first space rocket into space. The first country to put a satellite in space. The first country to put a human in space. The first country to put an animal in space. The country that built the largest submarine in the world.
The country that produces the most engineers in the world. In case you've forgotten, Russia brought about the following. β’ The periodic table β’ Bycicyles β’ Solved the Poincare Conjecture, a major contribution to mathematics β’ Created the equations that were used to calculate radar cross sections which gave birth to stealth technology. β’They invented the screw drive elevator, which helped produce the modern passenger elevator. β’ Electric Rocket Motor β’ LED β’Lunokhod 1- first space rover on Moon β’ Radio receiver β’AC Transformer β’First Artificial Heart Do you want me to continue? You're not even a significant entity neither is your country to the world, but you're fast to claim a battery powered submarine is insignificant.
Mind you, Russia is the most innovative country in the world when it comes to military technology.
Battery powered submarine is not insignificant. I said what I said and the post I quoted would have given you some context if you're half as smart. A battery powered submarine in the era we are in is insignificant not useless, but you're too dumb and sentimental to think objectively. For clarification The same country that lunched the first space rocket into space. The first country to put a satellite in space. The first country to put a human in space. The first country to put an animal in space. The country that built the largest submarine in the world. *(The Soviet Union not Russia)* The periodic table - Russian β’ Bycicyles - Not Russian β’ Solved the Poincare Conjecture, a major contribution to mathematics - Russian, with inputs from America β’ Created the equations that were used to calculate radar cross sections which gave birth to stealth technology - I'm seeing British engineers. β’They invented the screw drive elevator, which helped produce the modern passenger elevator - Russian β’ Electric Rocket Motor - Russians β’ LED - Russian β’Lunokhod 1- first space rover on Moon β’ Radio receiver β’AC Transformer - three physicists from Austria-Hungary β’First Artificial Heart (I don't understand what you mean here) Kudos to Russia on their technological contribution to the World. 1 Like |

This guy is funny, the conversation is about shell production presently, you are changing it to reserves. The EU openly acknowledges that Russia is outpacing them in terms of shell production. The Russian defense industry has significantly expanded and become more complex during the Ukraine conflict and shows no signs of slowing down. These observations are not subjective; they're factual. Why epistle, did I say EU is making more shells than Russia? You just wanted to quote or what? |

Normal western propaganda came out on the 14th of November 2022 that he was hospitalized, until Russia diplomats refute the claim and this photo was posted as an evidence that he's going alright.
