Culture / Re: Why Am I Often Approached By African Men? (An African-American Woman) by titiK: 7:06pm On Sep 13, 2007
I've always been told that I am a beautiful and intelligent girl by both nigerians and african american brothas but nigerians seem to be the more respectful guys. You sound a little like me except I'm muslim. Since I've been in the nigerian community I have recieved a lot of love by thier men. I guess thats why I seem to look past african americans now. I think that its true that our true African self shines enough to attract men from the motherland. I say be happy and embrace it. smiley

Culture / Re: Nigerian Men and their Foreign Wives by titiK: 5:52pm On Sep 13, 2007
It sounds like this person has some real issues that they need to deal with. Im american but this whole article was too repeatative and long. I beleieve that change is good but you should always remember your roots. Everyone changes when a new culture is introduced but as long as you know who you are it dosen't matter. I don't agree with some of the things my nigerian boyfriend wants me to do and the same goes for him. I think what really is getting to this author is the fact that there is comprimise in other relationships besides thiers. This author just hasn't found thier other half yet, so keep looking. Being bitter will get u nowhere but isolated.
Culture / Re: If You Can Speak English, Come Here. by titiK: 5:30pm On Sep 13, 2007
Thank you so much because I was lost on this site for a minute. Im african american and my boyfriend is nigerian. Im just trying to learn the culture and the language. He is not helping much so I have to do it on my own. Sometimes, I have a feeling that him and his boys are talking about me right in front of my face. He is Yuroba so if anyone can teach the basics to me e-mail me. Thanks! grin
