In the spirit of giving back, would like to share my POE experience. First and foremost, I would like to thank the house for all the valuable information I found on this forum. I left Lagos on the 27th of March with Emirates at 33 weeks 6 days and arrived on the 29th. I had my fitness to fly and my signed MEDIF form dated 24th March which I had sent to the medalos email address someone provided on this forum on the same 24th preceding my trip. Check in went smoothly, the only thing I submitted was the fitness to fly, the MEDIF form was not collected. I wasn't disturbed about being above 32 weeks, though I had also called the airline earlier to confirm that I could fly. I was in Dubai for 24 hours and rested well, I wasn't asked for fitness to fly before boarding the flight to Dallas, though on the plane, an air hostess asked to see it after i requested to be allowed to have the whole row to myself since the flight was not full. on arrival in Dallas, used the self-check Kiosk, took a photograph and carried my printed receipt and passport to the CBP officer after collection of all my luggage. The self-check kiosk almost messed me up as it refused to read my passport and visapage...but thankfully an officer helped me because it already sent me to an exception line. The CBP officer didn't ask me any question at all. Just collected my passport, the receipt and the immigration landing card where i had already declared that i had food, he stamped me in for 6 months, then asked what food i had, i said some egusi, dried fish and a few other things, so he sent me to Agric for luggage check. That was all......no questions on purpose of visit, or how much i had, or anything at all....not even are you pregnant despite my big belle. All my documents remained in my hand luggage. i was really happy. Agric was also a breeze....nothing was seized, infact the officer there declared me his fav passenger for the day after i rechristened him Ademola since he was trying so hard to speak some Yoruba. lolll

Now i have arrived and have rested a bit...i need to get the hospital ball rolling...@MiddyO and @Boluwagin...... i need your assistance...please PM me. i intend to use Baylor, Scott and White Carrolton. I have already gotten in touch with Dr Stimage's office and i am waiting to see if she can fit me in for an appointment, but please i need contact of the Paediatrician and anesthesia services you used or are using as well as the hospital fees and breakdown on any additional blood work and sonogram you may have done and the connect for it so i can have a total picture of the expected expenditure. would appreciate a quick response. Thank you

Hello House,

Its been lovely following all the posts on this thread from Part 1 to 5. I especially found posts by @MiddyO and @NikkyK on OB Packages available at JPS Hospital very useful. Infact i have sent emails to them requesting them to contact me so i can ask for further information and clarification, but i am still awaiting feedback from them because the nairaland system requires them to reply me since we were not previously connected. While i wait for their response, i may be able to get some information from the house, hence this general post.

I intend to travel to the US on the 1st of April to have my LO. My sister is a US Citizen who lives in Tarrant County with her family and i will be staying with her for the period i am in the US and she will also assist me with getting the Temporary Tarrant County ID which will qualify me to enjoy the JPS Hospital discounted OB packages. My Parents are also Green Card Holders, so my Mum will be around to help also. I have a few questions however

1. I didn't see any thread on how one can get in touch with doctors affiliated with JPS Hospital, all is saw was Doctor's fee of $1,500. so if any one knows how i can get in touch with a doctor affiliated with the hospital so i can obtain Doctor's correspondence, this will be very useful. PS. my sister already called the hospital on my behalf, but they said they only register in person, which means i cant get registered or assigned a doctor through the Hospital until i am in the US, and i would appreciate doctor's correspondence now for POE purposes.

2. I also want to know if tests done in Nigeria were acceptable for those that have used JPS hospital, and if they are, i need information on the tests i should conduct so i can do them from here. If not, i would like to know how much the prenatal tests cost asides from the Doctor and Hosp fees which i know already.

3. I have a valid B1/B2 US visa which i have renewed once through the dropbox process. The current one was obtained in 2015 and will expire in July 2017. (i intend to be back in Nigeria before it expires). I wasn't married yet when i got the visa and i have traveled to the US twice already on the current visa. This trip to have the baby will be my third trip on the current visa. I want to know if i still need to mail the Consular office to declare a notification/change of intent to go and have a baby since i have been to the US not less than 6 times in total.

4. DH is a green card holder and lives and works in the US while i live and work in Nigeria. We have no intention of relocating me and the baby to the US for a few more years, therefore he hasn't filed for a green card for me and i am not ready to quit my Job also. I want to know if this will be an advantage or a disadvantage at the POE, if i get asked questions about my husband, where he is and what he does? i wouldn't want to be sent back just because my husband lives in the US already.
