Culture / Re: Ikwerres Deny Ancestral Affiliation With South-East by Tonim(f): 8:55am On Jul 06 |
Remman: Intermarriage happens everywhere, since we settled closer to the igbos, our ancestors married Igbo daughters to avoid marrying their own siblings and somehow the Igbo daughters married into our land taught their children the Igbo language. And this practice happens till date where children found themselves speaking their mother's language. If the Igbos claim we came from them, let's hear their own Kanu and Ojukwu story about the ancestors of Ikwerres. Before the civil war, the Igbos came to settle in Ikwerre land and began to rename our streets bearing our true ancestral names to their language names. Now during the civil war they killed us and did a lot of evil to us whom they now claim is their brothers (since they're unaware of the language-work of their daughters married by our ancestors). Now, when the war was intensified, they ran away (why would they run if they owned the place?). When we saw how we were tricked by those tribes, we took back our properties they stole from us, we won the battle. Thanks for this. Very insightful. 2 Likes |

Politics / Re: Ekiti State Rated High In IGR Collection - Report by Tonim(f): 11:51pm On Jul 05 |
nisai: Don't mind the illiterate. Money supply is one of the key economic factors. IGR is important to any government for development and public service.
If igr is not that important as he was saying, why would his state be receiving allocation from igr (taxation & others) from the federal government? God bless you ![cheesy](https://www.nairaland.com/faces/cheesy.png) What I have noticed is that, some people have to bring negativity to anything positive coming out of the SW. Income tax? Profit tax?
Revenue is at the hands of the state
GDP is not affected by anyone that's why it's the number one
A richer state can have lower revenue, but it's impossible to have lower GDP My point was that it was wrong for you to state that taxes are not paid in dubai. Taxes are paid on profit made by businesses. 3 Likes |

mrvitalis:
Wealth? Are you serious? Wealth of a nation is the average income of its citizens
Especially in Nigeria where IGR only comes through taxing
Dubai would have very low IGR if the practiced our system because they don't tax
GDP is what depends the wealth of a region state or nation it's basic... How productive are you... How rich are your people
U can decide to tax them or not
Ogun with almost have of IMO GDP having 120 billion while IMO have 26 billion shows over taxing in Ogun... It doesn't show Ogun is in any way more productive Taxes are paid in the UAE. If you own a business in the UAE, you will pay tax to the authorities. 2 Likes |
