Education / Re: National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN) Students by Tonio1: 1:05pm On Apr 07, 2019
Thanks a great deal for addressing this. People tend to propagate a one sided story of their bad individual experience, thereby tarnishing the image of this university. I did a first degree at a renowned federal university and sincerely can't compare the experience to how smooth my NOUN experience was.
There is room for improvement as the school is young and is trying to standardize, but this advancement can only be initiated by constructive feedback and not demeaning slander.

SimplySEA:

I understand you brother. I also believe in development and there are stages to it. I am not a defender of noun. But I know the school is growing and trying out many things right now. Over the last 3years there's been serious changes, all geared towards improving the system. Don't forget that it is the first if its kind in Nigeria.

My point exactly is that we should cease from calling the school names esp online just to express every disappointment. No school can achieve the status of prestigious if the its students keep publishing its challenges. The OAUs, UIs, UNNs, of this world , which have existed long before even the conceiver of the idea of noun was born, have their challenges but you don't see or hear people coming online to say this things. You only see and hear about the positives. Believe me sir there are many positives with noun but you hardly see it published.

I am a graduate of Electrical/Electronics Engineering from a Fed. University in this country. Despite all the challenges we faced while in school, we still go about branding our names with our call-sign. I tell you my brother what I have faced in noun is not up to half my travails while in school. Although things are far better now with better infrastructures and facilities but it didn't happen one day.

In essence, kindly note that the prestige of the school lies in your hand. What you push out there is the way this school will be perceived. How you present your school is the way your certificate will be viewed. How you make people see your school is the way employers will see you. It is simply called "BRANDING".

As for me I am a #GREATMAKURDIAN and a proud #NOUNITE.

Hi, guys,
Please can someone help with the questions below?

Tonio1:
Hello guys,
Please does the university issue student's copy of transcript and how quickly can one obtain it?

Also, please how long does it take the university to process and deliver transcript intended for a foreign University? They stipulated a processing time between 2-3 weeks but i wish to know the reality of the time involved in the process.

Whiterose21:

And what if they fail to issue certificate on that day, what are we going to do to them?

My dear, I have not heard of that before now. Once you are done with your clearance I don't think you owe them anything order than to come at your own convenient time.

Anyways I will be going to head quarter (jabi Abuja) tomorrow for my final clearance, I will make enquiries for your sake, hope I will remember.
lol @ if they fail to issue...no be small thing. I mean, in this hardship, they really can't intend for everybody in all the nooks and crannies of the country to start running to Abuja given the fact that they released the graduation list late which heavily impedes planning the trips involved. Furthermore, its illogical for you to have paid all your fees and your degree is being withheld because you can't afford to attend convocation—it's ground for a proper lawsuit.

Whiterose21:

I have shared my experience with you. Once your name is published for graduation, you can go for your statement.

I finished my programme since 2017 but my name was omitted for graduation, when I applied for statement they said "NO" until my name appear on the graduation list. I stay in Abuja and I know what I'm saying.

Hello Whiterose21, Please since you're going to be at the convocation ceremony, kindly update us here if the certificates are issued on that day. Thank a lot.

Noun and their WAHALA.
In all the abuja study centres, no body was able to collect the convocation gown after paying the compulsory 15K. They keep saying come tomorrow. Clearance is even difficult with the bad attitude of some of the staffs.

For those planning to come for the convocation from other states, please don't come because certificate will not be given that day. As I'm talking to you now, certificates are not ready. I guarantee you that you will regret coming for the convocation because this NOUN is not organized at all. Certificate will be dilivered to various study centres for pick up

How certain are you of the above emboldened statement above? I don't think that has ever been done before.
Education / Re: National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN) Students by Tonio1: 4:59pm On Mar 08, 2019
Sorry please, I thought all the convocation business is in Abuja? How will you get the school's official convocation gown in your location which is outside Abuja?

Please can someone kindly answer these questions below because some of us don't even have the resources to be in Abuja to pick up the certificate not talk of attend the ceremony.

So I ask;

If one strenuously makes it to the ceremony, is there an assurance that the Statement of Result or/and Certificate will be issue?

Is there an arrangement to conveniently pick at your local study center ? and how soon can it be available for pick up?

Tonio1:
hello guys,

Please is it mandatory to be at the convocation ceremony?

How quickly can one lay hands on his/her Statement of Result and/or Certificate?

I heard they issue the certificates at the aforementioned ceremony, how true is that?

Thanks for the information. My major worry is the result isn't appearing on the list of results published to be accessible to me in my portal, though the moderators assured me they had uploaded a project score for me. I hope that when they queried "that other result db" for graduation eligibility, the fact it isn't on my portal didn't hamper my eligibility.

Whiterose21:

May be, because they signed 3rd batch of graduation list after your defence last month precisely on the 26th of February. 1st batch was released July last year, we await 2nd and 3rd batch this week.
Education / Re: National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN) Students by Tonio1: 12:17pm On Mar 06, 2019
Really? Even when the result has not appeared in the portal ie. When I clicked "view results" button, I only see my coursework results, no project results? This will be a miracle.

From a reliable source, senate will sit today 19th Feb, sign the graduation list and publish thereafter. So get ready for your clearance, if you are awaiting graduation. Good luck.
I heard that the masters project defense that was moderated yesterday in South-south and South-east is part of the plan to update the graduating list. Is it possible that people who defended yesterday can be considered for the graduating list to be approved in this particular aforementioned senate sitting?
Education / Re: National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN) Students by Tonio1: 12:50pm On Jan 22, 2019
i haven't submitted but i am done with it. I wish i can make it into the next graduation list. I really wish i can defend as soon as possible. Do you know when the next defence is?
SQLmastar:
when did you submit your project?
The course advisor at my study Centre said it's likely going to be after first semester exams. I narrowly missed December defense. cry

Please how does the graduation list work? How frequently is it compiled ? Is it shared to the student public? If it gets shared, how often does it get shared? Any idea when the next MSc IT project defence is coming up or at least an idea when it is supposed to take place? Thanks good people..

Hi guys,
Please if you've finished your MSc course-work and project before the convocation date, can you request for your transcript and Statement of Result? Or do you have to wait till convocation/graduation before it can be issued?
Education / Re: National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN) Students by Tonio1: 12:48am On Nov 21, 2018
Please who knows when the next Msc Project defence is taking place? I know, from the information reaching me from PH study center that a round of project defence took place around 28th October 2018. I really want to know the frequency of the project defence. Is it per semester or per school year? When is the next project defence scheduled for?
