Education / How To Write A Student's First Scientific Article. Instructions by TonyCox(m): 12:16pm On Jan 06, 2021
Hello student! This text is for you. Your favorite department requires you to publish a scientific article, and you don't even know where to start? I have made a simple and understandable instruction for you.

We will answer five questions:

Why write?
What to write about?
When to write?
How to write?
How to publish?

Question one: "Why write?"
Everything is simple here. Students are divided into two types.

20% of students are engaged in science, because they are interested in doing science. 80% of students are engaged in science, which is what the head wants. department, dean or head of the diploma. Typically, the pressure on the student increases when the graduation or other important event approaches.

Another important scenario is the future admission to the magistracy. That is, if you want to study for another couple of years and become a master's degree, there is no way without scientific publications. In the beginning, you can try contacting an essay writing service to get an impression.

Question two: "What to write about?"
If you are from the first 20%, then you will not have such a question. You are engaged in some projects with interest, conduct research and get all sorts of interesting results. Your articles will be about these studies and results.

But for the remaining 80% the question “What to write an article about? !!! " - more than relevant. We give three win-win options.

The first option: if you are already a graduate student, write on the topic of the diploma. There couldn't be a more convenient option. You will somehow have to deal with the topic and prepare for the defense. In any case, you will write fifty, seventy or whatever pages of your diploma. An additional five or ten pages of articles on the same topic? Pfff.

The second option: if you are not yet a graduate student, and the article is already needed. Remember the topic of some of your term papers - and write about it. But please, DO NOT just rip out a piece of the term paper into a separate file and call it a scientific article! This is bad. Just use a familiar theme.

The third option is fine if you have ever spoken at a student conference. Remember what you talked about there, find your presentation - and used for inspiration.

Question three: "When to write?"
Better, of course, in advance.

But, if this happens, you have to write an article at the last moment - find a journal that can publish your scientific article as quickly as possible.

The fourth question: "How to write?"
When you know what you are going to write about (at least approximately), you can start.

First, you need to collect the material. If you took a diploma or a term paper for an article, find and view all the materials collected. Surely you have some calculations, tables, graphs. If you are a humanitarian, then at least there should be quotes, excerpts. Start with what is already there.

Further - look for other articles on your topic. With a probability of 146%, you are not the first to investigate this topic.

Question five: "How to publish?"
The text of the article must be formatted according to the rules. Different publishers may have different design rules - be careful.

Send the completed article to the editor - usually by e-mail. See the address on the journal's website. Some journals have convenient forms for submitting articles online.

Within a few days, your article will be read by a specially trained person - a reviewer. If the article is really bad, then it will be returned to you for revision. If you have done a good job, then it will be published.
