Abuja – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has decaled President Muhammadu Buhari, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the 2019 presidential election, held on Saturday Feb. 23.




Buhari was declared re-elected having polled 15,191,847 votes, winning in 19 states, to defeat other 72 candidates including Atiku Abubakar, the Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 11, 255,978 votes and won 17 states and the FCT, to occupied the second position.

The Chief Retuning Officer and INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu announcing the result at the national collation centre on Wednesday morning, said that Buhari was declared re-elected, haven met the constitution requirements.

Yakubu said that the registered voters was 82,344, 107, accredited voters was 29,364,209, total votes cast was 28,614,190, total valid votes was 27,324,583 and rejected votes was



“That Muhammadu Buhari having satisfied the requirement of the law and scored the highest votes is hereby declared the winner,” Yakubu said.

Yakubu also said that Felix Nicholas of the Peoples Collation Party (PCP) scored 110,196 votes, while Ositelu Isaac Babatunde of Accord Party (AP) polled 19,209 votes.

In 2015, Buhari scored 15, 424,921 votes to beat the PDP incumbent Goodluck Jonathan who scored 12,853,162 votes.

The total number of registered voters in the country is 84,004,084, with 44,405,439 (52.86 per cent) as male, and 39,598,645 (47.14 per cent) as female, while the number of collected Permand Voter Cards (PVCs) nationwide was 72,775,502



The 2019 presidential election was held at 119,973 polling units in 36 States of the federation and the FCT.

Wireless key fobs have revolutionized vehicle access, but they’re far from foolproof — swiping the remote is all it takes to snipe your ride. Hyundai thinks it has a far more secure system.

Hyundai announced this week that it will install its first fingerprint-based vehicle technology in the 2019 Santa Fe SUV. The system will comprise two separate fingerprint sensors — one on the door handle, and one on the ignition button. A driver will have to pass both scanners to enter and start the vehicle, but it’s not like it takes any extra steps, since drivers would still have to grab door handles and push start buttons with a traditional fob.

Some vehicles allow different key fobs to carry different settings, whether it’s seat position, radio favorites or climate control temperature. Hyundai’s fingerprint system offers the same level of personalization, but instead of being linked to a fob, it’s linked to the driver’s fingerprint. You may grab the wrong remote by accident, but you’re not going to grab the wrong fingerprint.

Mohammed, has criticised President Muhammadu Buhari’s tribute to the late President Shehu Shagari, who passed away on Friday at the age of 93.

Buhari, in a statement by his Special Adviser to the President (Media and Publicity), Femi Adesina, had described Shagari’s death as the departure of a patriot, whose life of service and humility was widely acknowledged.

But Mohammed in an interview with our correspondent stated that Shagari had gained respect by retiring and living a quiet lifestyle, unlike some in the current political class.

The elder statesman said, “Quite a number of the people who would claim to be his friends were actually his enemies and they contributed tremendously to bringing down that government and in making it impossible for us to have a meaningful democratic dispensation years after his departure from office.”

When asked his thoughts on Buhari’s tribute, he said, “It’s not sincere. If you’ve contributed so much in bringing down a government and bringing down a man who had nothing to gain, even though he had poor eyesight and was in poor health – he was in his late 60s then – you cannot say, from 1984 till now, you got along well. How did you get along well?

“No matter what you say about the Shagari administration, he knew how to retire from public service quietly, with a tremendous amount of nobility and self-respect. You have to give him that.

“In terms of retirement and living a quiet life and garnering more respect, Shagari is certainly one of Nigeria’s most outstanding leaders and I certainly believe the nation will continue to mourn him appropriately.”

According to Mohammed, he was devastated by the news of Shagari’s demise.

He added that Shagari believed in the goodness of human nature, even when human nature was not always good.

“The first Shagari administration of 1979 wasn’t particularly spectacular. There are quite a number of people there who really disappointed us, both National Party of Nigeria and Shagari, the president. He endured a lot but he didn’t want to rock the boat, so he waited until after the election in 1983 when some the characters were simply asked to leave or reappointed.
