I had always warned against picking just any course in university, polytechnic, or college of education. This is because I’d been there too and I knew what worked and what did not.

Some courses had worked in the past in this country but they’re now walking dead. Schools are not doing justice for not scraping those courses yet. Perhaps, our education is turning to, more for the money than the original academic motive.

It's disheartening to still find several of these courses among the most competitive ones in our schools.

HaryaorGirl:
ASUU went on strike on February 14, putting an halt to all academic activities since the past 4 months because of an agreement made in the year 2009

Agreement should be honored (I agree)

But from my calculations, Late Musa Yard Adua was president when they made this agreement, in which Fmr president Good luck Jonathan was Vice president

Vice president Good luck Jonathan went on to succeed Yar Adua after his death....

My question is why did ASUU not push their core demands when we had a PHD holder as president?

Why did they not go on endless strike when we had someone that's well vast educationally?

Why did ASUU wait until 13 years after before pushing for their demands to be heard?

What happened to going on this endless strike when President Muhammad Buhari was running for 2nd term?

What makes them think the government will priotize their demands when they clearly have nothing to lose or gain from their endless strike?

So far the government has paid them 36 billion for their salary arrears, and have promised to look into revisitation of the Nigeria university so it can be of high standards when compared to international Universities.

The government "which has nothing to lose" has tried enough. Why has ASUU not call off the strike? They want UTAS!

Why will an employer be dictating their means of payment to their employee? (It does not make any sense as far as they are not been underpaid)

The government is paying the engineering, health, military, and other sectors through the IPPIS, and nobody is complaining except ASUU

Will talk about UTAS and why ASUU want it so badly in my next post...

4. Lack of Preparation
I don’t need to write much on this one. If you fail to prepare for any exam, then it means that you are actually preparing to fail the exam. Many candidates fail not because they are not academically sound or intelligent but because they fail to actually prepare for the exam. To prepare well for an exam as JAMB, you need to do all you can to eliminate any form of distractions. Stay off social media if you can. Unless you have an online study group you are part of for the purpose of the exam.

Find what works for you and stick to it; is it studying alone? studying in a group? Going for tutorials? etc. Just stick to any study pattern that works for you and make the most of it.

Goodluck!

Education / Re: The Reason Why Most Students Will Fail JAMB 2022 After Reading Hard by Topnotchguides: 9:57am On May 06, 2022
3. Lack of Speed
Not being fast enough in answering the questions is another issue some candidates have. For every exam, there is a time limit for you to answer all the questions you are supposed to answer. Speed is especially needed when you are taking an exam like the JAMB CBT. This is why I advise candidates to ensure they get the First Class JAMB CBT Software or the JAMB Mobile App. This will help you practice JAMB Past questions, understand how JAMB questions are asked and help you improve your speed with time.

You can equally time your self by setting a time limit and try to answer as many questions as you can before the time finishes. Once you are done, try again but this time ensure you answer more questions than you did the last time within the same amount of time.

Education / Re: The Reason Why Most Students Will Fail JAMB 2022 After Reading Hard by Topnotchguides: 9:52am On May 06, 2022
2. Failure to Read Instructions
The moment you fail to read instructions before starting an exam, you are not far from failure already. Instructions will guide you on what to do and what not to do. Failure to read instructions and follow them is the reason many candidates fail to see their results after the JAMB exam. Please ensure you read every instruction given to you before answering the questions.

Education / Re: The Reason Why Most Students Will Fail JAMB 2022 After Reading Hard by Topnotchguides: 9:48am On May 06, 2022
1. Examination Centres
You may be shocked at this, but the truth is that the centre where you take your JAMB exam matters. There have been many instances of JAMB cancelling the result of a whole centre or reducing the scores of the candidates that took their exams in a centre due to malpractice and other irregularities. Situations like these usually affect many candidates who may not have engaged in any form of malpractice.

In cases like this, there’s little or nothing a candidate can do. However, I will advise candidates to report any malpractice or irregularity they notice in their centre to an invigilator so that only the candidates or officials that are involved will be punished because if it is not reported and JAMB gets to know about it, JAMB will assume that everyone in the centre is guilty. Though JAMB said it normally carries out investigations before taking action in such cases but we really do not know how thorough the investigation usually is.

It is often assumed that many candidates that fail JAMB exams are not academically sound. This may not be really true. There are many students that are sound and intelligent but have to take JAMB more than two times before they are able to get a good score to secure admission. There are untold reasons candidates fail in JAMB apart from not being academically sound.
Based on personal observations, below are 4 untold reasons students fail JAMB as well as other exams;

Education / Winston Churchill And The Taxi Driver;( Money Or Intergrity) by Topnotchguides: 11:50am On May 28, 2021
Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Winston Churchill, once said: "I took a taxi one day to the BBC offices for an interview.

When I arrived, I asked the driver to wait for me for forty minutes until I got back, but the driver apologized and said, "I can't, because I have to go home to listen to Winston Churchill's speech".

I was amazed and delighted with the man's desire to listen to my speech! So I took out 20 pounds and gave it to the taxi driver without telling him who I was. When the driver collected the money, he said: "I'll wait for hours until you come back sir! And let #Churchill go to hell".
.......
You can see how principles have been modified in favor of money; Nations sold for money; Honour sold for money; Families split for money; Friends separated for money; people killed for money, and people being made slaves for money. For how much are you ready to sell your values? (if you have any)
