The way I understand it, Abstract is the summary of your thesis. If someone reads your abstract, he/she should have a clear picture of your research. For me I simply uploaded my Abstract.

PhD Applicants, please I need your advice.

I have doubts about this section of the Master's Degree Thesis (Summary) because I am really finding it hard to meet the file size of 300KB (even after optimizing the PDF file).

Does it make sense to remove literature review, references, and appendices? Removing them means the report I will upload will comprise of Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, and Summary Conclusion and Recommendation. Does this make sense at all?

I have lots of important information (including pictures) that I don't want to remove in my report because I feel it will distort my work.

How did you summarize your thesis?

You shouldn't withdraw from the University yet. Write Jamb, and get the admission first before you withdraw. I went through the same process.

I did pre-degree many years ago, and I wasn't given my desired course (Mechanical Engineering). I was given Horticulture after the program. I accepted the admission. I wrote Jamb again while I was in 100level horticulture. In fact, I chose the same university, and wrote post-utme in the same university. I was given Mechanical Engineering after the admission exercise. On the other hand, I tried to get a transfer to Mechanical Engineering from Horticulture but my Dean didn't want to release his best student; he did not even want to see me. I didn't apply for withdrawal from the or the University, I just left the department and accepted the new admission which came with a different matric no. What the University recognize is your matric no. I was expelled from Horticulture 2 sessions after I left because of poor academic performance (I wasn't paying school fees or writing exams, I just left). I graduated as a Mechanical Engineer many years ago. Follow your dream, pay the price.

I no longer know what to do. We have been together for 8 months and I want to marry her quickly. I have my reasons. She has been my childhood crush for years and now that she gave me a chance I don't want it to slip away. Many guys flock around her so before one asks her to marry him I had to do it first. And she is very responsible and definitely not a fling.

But I have problems with her aggression. A little thing she picks an issue with it and starts dishing out hurtful words to me. There was a day I had to invite my sister to come talk to her as woman to woman talk this lady pulled the belt on her jeans and began to assault my sister I'm grateful to God that I was there even my left eye is still bruised wth the way she hit me too that day. And the worst of it all is everytime she gets more angry and more violent.

I threatened to call off the wedding thinking it will make her rethink but it didn't instead she got angry that day and pushed me against the wall. God saved me beause if there was knife or bottle around that day with the way she was angry sh could have used any on me.

Please I need assistance from matured minds. I love her so much that I don't want to call off the wedding I want her to be wife but her aggression is too much. She get angry easily. She outrightly told me no sex till marriage and I can't do anything about because she seems stronger than I am (Yes she works out alot. Perhaps because she is a model or so i don't know)

I need help.

1) The very worst use of time is to do very well what does not need to be done at all. E.g. Relationship that don't end in marriage.

2) I see you are emotionally vulnérable. Don't go into marriage based on émotions. Emotion is like an alcohol, it doesn't last. Émotions alone cannot sustain a marriage, infact it will dry up with time. It is compatibility that sustains a marriage. Think Bro.

4) I see you have an identity issue from your post. You shouldn't feel insecure because Guys are flocking around her. I can tell you are good Person, so whoever marries you is a lucky girl. Common bro, Who are you?

The Petroleum Technology Development Fund, PTDF, has stated that it has not cancelled or intends to stop its overseas scholarship scheme.

The PTDF, in a statement by its Head, Press and External Relations , Mr. Kalu Otisi, stated that its decision not to cancel the scheme was in view of its continued relevance in building a crop of well-trained Nigerian professionals to effectively manage the critical sectors of the oil and gas industry as well as the academia.

According to Otisi, the intention of PTDF in reviewing the operations of the scheme through its training domestication drive is to increase the involvement of local universities whose facilities and faculties have over the years been massively upgraded by the Fund.

He stated that the Federal Government has invested huge resources through the PTDF in upgrading 26 departments involved in teaching oil and gas related courses in 26 universities, with world class facilities that put them at par with their contemporaries abroad.

He said, “These upgraded universities, some of which have become Centres of Excellence in the teaching and research of specific oil and gas disciplines, are already being used for the training of PTDF scholars at undergraduate and post-graduate levels under the Local Scholarship Scheme of the Fund.

“Part of the domestication policy of PTDF scholarship scheme is to gradually reduce foreign training of our scholars and build up in-country training facilities towards self-sufficiency in oil and gas capacity-building.

“We must emphasize, however, that this new thinking and direction does not in any way translate to a cancellation, stoppage or withdrawal of the overseas segment of our scholarship programme. Qualified Nigerians will continue to be sponsored abroad for training especially in critical subject areas in the oil and gas industry that we currently lack enough capacity for in Nigeria.

“The other limb of the domestication approach is to encourage foreign universities where Nigerian scholars are regularly sent for their Masters and PhD studies to set up branches or campuses of their institutions in Nigeria or go into partnership with the upgraded Nigerian universities for split PhD programmes, whereby aspects of the training and research will be conducted both in Nigeria and abroad. “

You may say we should go younger people, yes i agree with You. What has been the outcome of the so Much vaunted Young people in politics today? Who is Farouk Lawan! Who is FFK! Who is Dimeji Bankole! Are they also old? What was their outcome? Are You trying to infer that leadership is only for the Young? Is GEJ classified among old or Young? Did he not say his génération has failed? Did people not lambast him that he should speak only of his failure?

If leadership is to be determined only by youthful age, then we should be looking for a teenager to rule us! Leadership should be by track record of service and integrity, not by age or any other parochial dictate! You can accuse GMB of many things but not corruption, the records are there! Don't disparage a man's integrity wrongly because God's abhors injustice.
