Career / Re: What Online Skill Can I Learn At 35 by touchLife: 6:38am On Jul 20, 2023
There are a lot of skills you learn online depending on your passion and how much time and resources you are willing to dedicate.
Tech is a broad field and there’s something for everyone, depending on your initial background and discipline you find tech skills to leverage in that area.
If you’re business oriented, look into the areas of e-commerce, digital marketing, affiliate marketing, blogging, vlog, copy writing, SEO and the likes. If you’re maths, science and social science oriented then you can look into skills like web design, data science, data analysis, AI, Networking and core programming.

There are tons of skills to learn, it depends on your level of readiness, motivation and your environment. If you’re lucky to have a good mentor, it will speed up your learning process. Good luck and you’re never late to learn any tech skill of your choice.

Politics / Re: Tinubu Is Converting Non Supporters Everyday by touchLife: 3:47pm On Jun 10, 2023
I’m filled with so much admiration for Tinubu as a man. His body language is giving everything positivity, this is an interesting time in our polity. Never have I ever believed a politician like I do Tinubu, his words come with so much conviction during his campaign and so are his actions in the early days. All I see is a game changer and a vision leader. He might not be perfect but there’s a lot to learn from his political philosophy. How he’s spinning the narrative is not by magic but a testament of his pedigree. All he needs is God’s guidance, prayers, support and our constructive criticism. Let’s support progressiveness for our common good. All we have is Nigeria and a better nation is ours to build collectively. God bless the federal republic of Nigerian.

Lol cheesy

Just see the response someone that asked a question is giving to someone that took time to answer his question undecided

How do you want that guy that responded to you to feel now?

If people avoid giving contributions how will the forum grow?

I thought I was the only one that noticed the op was somewhat rude with his replies.

Science/Technology / Help, How Can I Make Productive Use Of The Free Internet Access At My Disposal? by touchLife: 4:31pm On Dec 14, 2021
I work in an environment that avail me with internet access (unlimited) and constant electricity, I spend up to like 10hrs in the office every day and my job role is not that tasking for now so I have ample amount of time up my sleeves. As with an average guy you all should guess what I do with my free time, i stream movies, hop in on all the social media platforms and visit blog sites for news and update which is very typical indulgence in today's world. The internet is an amazon, it has a lot of potentials and I see people make so much fortune out of it. Myself and a lot of young people out there are caught up in internet indulgence without striking a balance by harnessing its potentials and using it effectively. My question is, what activities can someone engage in for personal growth and development and how do one go about it? I'm aware there are a lot of courses one can enroll in online but most of it come at a cost which I can't afford for now, my only resources for now is internet and electricity, how can i make productive use of it please. Thank you for all your suggestions and advices.

Fellow Nigerians, I crave your indulgence to embrace love, unity and peaceful coexistence amongst one another. The hate narrative we constantly push is doing more harm than good in our society which means by extension you are also part of the problem too. I appeal to well meaning Nigerians especially nairalanders to please filter our words before we type as we know words are sharper than sword at times. rumor mongering, hate speeches, slandering and divisive statements has made empires collapse, remember if Nigeria fall today we are all going down together. If only you can stand on the other side and picture the catastrophic end, your may probably have a rethink. mindless and insensitive acts as simple as the words we speak is one of the major contributory factors that is polarizing our nation. my heart breaks most of the times when i'm going through the comment section of threads on social media, i begin to imagine what kind of world we truly live in?
It takes little or no effort to be patriotic you know, its not more than showing love, respect and kindness towards one another regardless of tribe, ethnicity or religion affiliations. lets try and play our parts in our own little way possible as posterity shall judge us all.

Programming / Re: Why Leaving Nigeria Must Be Your Utmost Priority As A Programmer by touchLife: 12:25pm On Aug 19, 2021
tensazangetsu20:

Bros trust me once I leave this country I wilk never come back and I will lay a curse on my generations. Anyone who decides to come back to Africa will die immediately he lands in African country. I shall lay the curse naked. Walai and I also tell my children the same thing. Anyday they return to where I have struggled to escape from they will die.

There's really no job in Nigeria I can come for. Maybe before I became a programmer you can say so. But all the money I make from programming it's white men. Infact my present skillset and how good I am now was my boss that took me under his mentorship and taught me so much. He's a white man. I have brought In two young Nigerians both juniors into the same company and he's also all teaching us. The same people were rejected by companies in Nigeria but na oyinbo man still come give them chance. Through his mentorship I have gone to work on projects that are used by billion dollar companies. Billion with a b o. As for political position, you can forget it. I will never ever contest to Be a politician in the zoo. I never even did my nysc after graduation so that disqualifies me and I don't give a Bleep.

There's really nothing Nigeria has given me I can say yes thank God I am a Nigerian. My university education wasn't even in Nigeria. As for working in Nigeria. I have only worked with a Nigerian company for two months and that was it the rest of my work has been with companies based abroad.

Secondary Citizen lol maybe for other professions not for programmers O. You don't know what is going on now. The tech industry is basically an employee's market now. This other countries I am talking about. Their salaries might not be USA level but they are ten times higher than Nigeria. I won't pay rent. Food will be given to me. This was stated explicitly at the interviews I have done so basically my salary will just be a pocket money. You can feel the desperation in their eyes even during interviews.

As for my family I really wish them well. The only thing I will do is build a house in Ghana for my mom and dad to stay in and bring my sister over immediately she graduates but as for Nigeria once I am done that's it. Even if I come to Africa to visit I will go to another African country and then the person who wants to see me will come there.

Home is where the heart is bro...... i bet you, you'll be home sick in no distant time after you left. i can understand your frustration but the way you are handling your emotions you might end up being part of the problem as well. Its not a mistake that are a Nigerian, you surely have a purpose here bro.

We really need to discuss. Bro, relax.

I sympathize with you and all. I feel same too. Nigeria is becoming harder, no doubt. But....hmmmmm!

Personally, I have a problem with the kinds of techs around. Some of them are used to launder money and we know this is true.

Also, all these investment techs...they are thieves. Really, I need to look into these new cases. Imagine some of these starts up, they start with something, and before you know it....they start promoting different investments which at the end are rubbish. I can count many of them just opening real estate and agro investments which are the top tools for scamming fo olish Nigerians. And they contract them out to illiterates in bushes. Many of them have squandered millions. Meanwhile, if they used all in the said businesses, fine...but they dont. They divert the money for their own enjoyment. If they use it for something tangible...fine...but they buy luxurious cars and you start seeing pictures on Instagram pages testifying to the goodness of God meanwhile, businesses are failing. Annoying part is they pay tithes from investment funds. Meaning they had made profit already... grin And they dont even protect themselves from been liable to paying back debts. Let's get it straight and not just blame government for everything.

We are the reasons forex and why govt releases terrible policies. Govt banned BDC, people cried they are not good. Meanwhile, it will have positive effect on someone like you. Yet, people who arent driving our economic positively are the ones always having upper hands.

Well, in a way...hmmm I see Nigeria going the Afghanistan route., but I keep praying against it. And the whole world knows if this happen, the whole of WEST africa is in trouble. Bro, rather than this to happen, the south will break. And if this happens, I swear, north will suffer. Is it Niger or the upper part that are able to team up with the north and flourish? But if the south breaks, just look at our partners - Benin, Togo, Ghana, Ivory Coast, etc. So, this thing is not only about govt only.

Corruption is what finished Afghanistan. Imagine the president there right under the nose of the Americans....according to Russians ran away with cars loaded with money and the chopper he used too was loaded. Just imagine this. It means the man had money at home anytime ready to take off. Corruption is the main issue.

So, look at the fintechs people are creating...invest this...invest that...bla bla bla. And cos they know about crypto, fx, etc...politicians use them to move out stolen loots too. Let us not close our eyes to these issues.

If you read me well, my stuff are towards making Nigeria better. There are start ups we can do. I still know we can do it.

Yes, I agree with you...anyone who wants to jakpa should. There is no thinking about it. Just Jakpa. But we can still save Nigeria.

start ups like which and which please? kindly high light some possible opportunities for those without the privilege to escape this country.

nice gesture from Charly Boy, indeed resilient youths like this lady should be encouraged in any way possible. If only we can own up to responsibilities and stop considering artificial barriers that we think is standing on our way to being our best selves and make the necesary moves then surely success will come to us from unimaginable places.
Travel / Re: What Do You Love About Nigeria? by touchLife: 2:40pm On Aug 07, 2021
My love for Nigeria OMG! Is it the richness of its soil and beautiful land scapes or the carefully crafted people that graciously inhibits it? Com’on Nigeria’s blessings is indeed beyond measures. The richness in its culture can hardly be found anywhere in the world , traveling the length and breadth of this country can attest to my statement. Another main catch for Nigeria is its people, there can never be a dulling moment with a Nigerian, what characterizes us is humor (cruise….lol). We are inherently humorous and very witty at the same time. Are you talking about resilience, strength, perseverance, resourcefulness and hug energy level? These you can only get from Nigerians. Throw any kind of circumstance at a Nigerian and I bet you he’ll come out strong. Nigeria’s greatest undoing is its leaders ( political and religious) , all they do is to sow seeds do hatred and division all the time but somehow Nigeria seems to be greater than them all. I wish for Nigeria a land fill with love, joy, unity, peace and prosperity.

Career / Re: 6 Things Holding You Back From Personal Growth ...which Is Yours? by touchLife: 4:50pm On Jul 27, 2021
litigator:
Psychology says that six major things can hold from human beings from personal growth. Which is your poison?

1. Relationship:
Your current relationship circle does not understand or support your growth.

2. Trauma:
You are unable to grow because your past trauma is blocking you. And are, therefore, stuck in a merry go round.

3. Fear:
You are afraid of judgment or failure in your new direction.

4. Patterns:
These are your daily habits, the way you act around people, especially your friends. Your daily patterns and your habits are what sums up your life. What you do every day becomes your yearly habit and if the pattern is not broken, one won't make much progress in life. We become what the choices we make and what we do every day.

5. Resources and Resourcefulness:
You have a lack of necessary resources to make a change. While lack of resources could be a challenge, lack of resourcefulness is way worse. Give a resourceful man 500k, and he will build a business worth 5 million in 5 years. Give an unresourceful man 5million, and he will be lucky to have a business worth 500k in 5 years.

6. Beliefs:
" As a man thinketh in his heart, so he is"

You can't grow more than your belief system, and you cannot become what you do not believe in.

Pre-existing beliefs are preventing you from taking action. It's better than making a decision and failing, than regretting the decision you never took. But ensure you do diligent research and count the cost.

Shalom.

nice one OP, my major challenge is that i easily get overwhelmed and find it difficult to stay focus on set goals. i wish to have a mentor or an instrument that will help me focus, monitor, measure and evaluate my level of progress on desired goals. i'd also love to be part of a team where vulnerabilities can be freely discussed and help one another find their life paths. any advice, suggestions or recommendation will be greatly appreciated.
Romance / Re: Guys, Can You Marry A Woman That Is Older Than You? by touchLife: 12:51pm On Jul 27, 2021
i see nothing in marrying an older lady so long there's compatibility between the two. that was how an argument ensued between friends of a 24yr old lady that got married to a 19yr old guy. most of her friends ridiculed her and see the whole union as a big joke. i have a different opinion about the beautiful couple's decision to get married though. in fact i kindda envy them for starting this early, if only i could turn back the hands of time.

We are the architects of our problems, humanity has died simply because we chose to focus on what makes us different rather than what makes us similar. There has never been a time in history when the world was monochrome, it has always been shades of different colors...... Coexistence is imminent our natural habitat, so why the hate? It interest me how we value and show compassion to our pets and see our fellow humans awe as prey or predators. The earlier we learn to rise above hate the better for all of us. #peace
