Delta State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa today, March 16 held town hall meetings in Bomadi and Ughelli, as Governor Ifeanyi Okowa urged communities seeking to have kings to follow due process and avoid heating up the polity with their agitations.
The Governor who was commended by leaders and stakeholders for the even spread of infrastructural developmental projects in the state reeled out projects executed by his administration in the areas, emphasizing that apart from the provision of infrastructure, the wealth creation programmes of his administration have received national and international recognition because of its success stories.
According to him, a lot of youths who were unemployed prior to his emergence as Governor have become entrepreneurs through the wealth creation programmes that are currently, receiving partnership with the United Nations.


He also, urged Deltans to key into the compulsory health insurance scheme of his administration, disclosing that it will save those who are in need of funds when they are ill the trauma of sourcing for funds.


Reacting to agitations for new kings in Bomadi, Governor Okowa urged communities seeking to have kings to follow due process and avoid heating up the polity with their agitations. asserting that “It is a long process to have a King, you must follow due process, it is not achievable through violence,”


The governor affirmed that the town hall meetings has afforded him the opportunity to see first hand the level of development in the state and the challenges facing the various areas, promising to utilise the 2018 and 2019 budgets to tackling the developmental needs facing the people.
On backlog of pensions, the Governor said, “the problem we are having with the pension scheme is called, past services, it is a huge amount of money, it runs into over N50 to N60 billion, what we are doing is to make money available on monthly basis, every month, we spend about N1.1 billion on pensions, I don’t know of any state that is paying as much apart from one state.”

Chairmen of Bomadi and Ughelli North local government areas, Hon. William Angadi and Hon. Godwin Adode respectively, including traditional rulers and representatives of different groups thanked Governor Okowa’s administration for the spread of projects across the state.

It was a sad day when on Monday 26th February, 2018 Rivers State correspondents’ chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists-NUJ woke up to get the news about the untimely death of erudite Justice Awwal Ibrahim a sitting Judge of National Industrial Court of Nigeria Port Harcourt Judicial Division.





In a statement, on Monday 26th February, 2018, Ag. Chief Registrar, the NIC President, Justice B. A. Adejumo, said that there will not be court sitting in view of the demise of the late jurist who died in the early hours of Monday.



“May God forgive the deceased his entire shortcomings and grant his soul eternal rest,” Justice Adejumo said. Late Justice Ibrahim was appointed a judge of the National Industrial Court in 2008.



After his Bachelor’s Degree in Law at the University of Maiduguri, he proceeded to University of Warwick, Coventry, England for his LL.M and backed it up with a doctorate degree in Law at the London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London.



Justice Ibrahim served on the Attorney General of the Federation’s working committee on the Laws of the Federation of Nigeria and was also on its Editorial Board.

And the Divisional Police Officer-DCO-1 Usman Sadiq investigated the allegations as he visited the scene of the alleged crime.





He thus wrote his reports to his superior Divisional Police Officer-DPO Diobu Division Chief Superintendent of Police -CSP Hassan Yahaya, who wrote on 20th, February, 2018 reference CB:4099/RSBA/VOL.2/97 National industrial Court of Nigeria Port Harcourt Rivers state and titled “POLICE INVESTIGATION REPORT RE: CASE OF CONDUCT LIKELY TO CAUSE THE BREACH OF PEACE” The conclusion of the investigation stated thus “INVESTIGATION:-Base on the strength of the report the complainant volunteer(sic) his statement alongside with the four suspects that were brought to the station by the policemen on Special duty in the chapel both parties made statement and the Divisional Crime Officer lead us to the scene of crime and nothing incriminating was found thereafter parties were advise to go home and maintain peace, hence all of them are members of the same union while case was kept in view(KIV) suspects were released unconditionally.” The above reports vividly indict the complainant Ernest Chinwo as a serial liar whose reports should not be trusted on face value until verified by competent investigative authorities such as Nigerian Police Rivers State Command had done via Mile One Police Division.

This plan is against the political ambition of Brother Felix Obuah who is nursing the political ambition of becoming Rivers state Governor in 2023.





At the Rivers state Waste Management Agency –RIWAMA juicy contracts worth multi-billions of Naira are awarded to political cronies who are friends of Governor Wike and as well some are being brought on board by Brother Felix Obuah. Each month these multi-billions of naira are spent in the payment of waste disposal contractors and to some consultants who Brother Felix Obuah regularly meets with in terms of instilling discipline, efficiency and control but Governor Wike going public to castigate RIWAMA’s inefficiency of keeping four Local Government Areas clean which include Port Harcourt City Council, Obio/Akpor, Emohua and Oyigbo Local Government areas as he warned the Care-taker Committee Chairman in those areas to take over the responsibility of Waste Collection and disposal or risk being removed from office.

The Federal Government FG Suspends DG SEC on Wednesday who is the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Mr. Mounir Gwarzo, to allow for an unhindered investigation of several allegations of financial impropriety leveled against the Director-General.

Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun announced the suspension in a statement on Wednsday, saying that two others had also been suspended.

The statement from the Ministry of Finance and issued by Patricia Deworitshe, Deputy Director, Press, said the suspension was in line with the Public Service Rules (PSRs) 03405 and 03406.

“Minister has set up an Administrative Panel of Inquiry (API) to investigate and determine the culpability of the Director-General.


“She has directed the suspended SEC Director-General to immediately handover to the most senior officer at the Commission, pending the conclusion of investigation by the API,” the statement said.

“Also suspended are two management staff of the Commission – Mr. Abdulsalam Naif Habu, Head of Media Division and Mrs. Anastasia Omozele Braimoh, Head of Legal Department – who have been alleged to engage in financial impropriety in the Commission,” the statement added.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has accused that the Federal Government of not being serious about the clean up of Ogoniland since it was flagged by the Vice President Yemi Osinbanjo on June 2,2016 in Bodo,Gokana local government area of Ogoniland.

The governor stated that for now, the Ogoni clean up programme remains a political project aimed at attaining political mileage.
Speaking when he granted audience to the Senate Committee on Environment on Investigative visit to Ogoniland, Governor Wike said that the people of Rivers State are tired of procrastination in relation to the execution of the clean up.
He said: “The Federal Government is not serious about the clean up of Ogoniland. We are tired of telling our people that the project will start next year.

“Let it not be a political project. Look at the North East, a commission was established and $1Billion released. “.
He said that the devastation of Ogoniland has impoverished the people by destroying their farmlands and fishing waters.

He regretted that as a state that produces the wealth of the nation, Rivers State has no single motorable Federal Road.

Commenting on the soot, Governor Wike stated that it is a fallout of oil pollution, stressing that people are suffering the health hazards.
Earlier, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment, Senator Oluremi Tinubu said that the committee was on an oversight visit to ascertain the level of environmental degradation in Ogoniland.

She said that the committee will draw attention to the environmental challenges facing the Ogoni people ..
Senator Tinubu said: “We are concerned about these issues. We will use face masks when we get to the location. Face masks will draw attention to the message to world on the essence of the clean up “.

The ancient City of Abonnema in Akuku Toru Local Government Area of Rivers state is currently experiencing disquiet among the subjects of the Abonnema kingdom as O.B LULU-BRIGGS BECOMES REGENT AMANYANABO. This is coming on the heels of allegation of witchcraft being leveled against His Royal Highness-HRH Disrael Gbobo Bobmanuel. It was further gathered that his effort to quash the decision of Ekine Sekiapu society failed at Degema High Court was unsuccessful and on Thursday 16th of November 2017 he was asked by the court to pay to the respondents for the cost of their legal services.

The quest to enthrone nobility and integrity in the Abonnema Council of Chiefs about eleven incumbent members of the Founding Fathers of the Ancient City of Abonnema in a public paid announcement published a declaration thus “On the basis of the decision of the High Court handed on Thursday the 16th day of November 2017 and the need to maintain the integrity of Abonnema Council of Chiefs, and having exhaustively deliberated the issues surrounding the allegation of witchcraft against you, we the undersigned, representing a majority of the incumbents on the 11(eleven) founding fathers of Abonnema DO HEREBY give notice to you that you are SUSPENDED forthwith as chairman, Abonnema Council of Chiefs unless and until you perform the Self cleansing exercise and in the manner prescribed by the Ekine Sekiapu Society of Abonnema.”

Socia media user, John Kingsley, post on his link IMSU Student Stabs 100 Level Roommate With Scissors who is crying out for justice in his sister’s case against her IMSU final year roommate, narrated how his sister, Glory Ezinne John, was almost stabbed to death by the final year student identified as Stacy Onwunezi.
He wrote;
“The pictures above are that of my injured sister whose life is been threatened by her final year roommate.
The final year roommate by name Stacy Onwunezi, is a student of philosophy and religion of Imo state University (IMSU), while my kid sister’s name is Glory Ezinne John, a 100 level student of Education, guidance and counselling.

​With the annoying and callous attitude of the Nigeria Police towards a citizen whose security right is infringed by another, I hereby desire justice. Stacy attacked Glory on Sunday, 19th November, 2017 with a scissor with the intention to kill her on mere argument of ‘’who took my cloth?’’ and ‘’if you did, please return it’’- my younger sister requested.


With the anger and hate in the lady’s heart, the scissor was used to cut her face and hands and she fled afterwards. Stacy went straight to the police station to file a report against helpless Glory.
But my younger sister, Glory, had to wait for the caretaker to come around so that she can report the situation to him. On the arrival of the caretaker she narrated the story and they went straight up to the state CID, Owerri.

On getting there, Stacy was seen laughing with the police officers in the station which stirred up some curiosity (if justice can be achieved with the familiarity with the officers of the law). On filing her report, Glory’s case was trivialized by the state CID.

Former PDP chairman, Haliru Bello’s son Bilyamin Muhammed Bello has been allegedly stabbed to death by his wife, Maryam Sanda, at their home in Maitama, Abuja.

According to reports, the couple were having an argument over infidelity after she saw a text message on his phone, which resulted to a chaos, and she stabbed him 3 times in the back, and on his private parts.
After stabbing him, she drove him to the hospital where he died.

Earlier she had chopped off his left ear, and was rushed to the hospital before returning home. He was advised to leave the house but he refused. The couple had a daughter together. He will be buried today.

Governor Wike’s invitation, The senator representing Rivers South-East District in the National Assembly, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe has declared that members of the Rivers State caucus in the House of Representatives who visited Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike recently was on the Governor’s invitation

Abe, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Thursday by his Spokesperson, Parry Saroh Benson, said contrary to media reports, the federal lawmakers were at Government House, Port Harcourt, on the invitation of the governor.

The senator said the comments made by the member representing Tai/Eleme/Oyigbo Federal Constituency, Dr. Barry Mpigi, has been manipulated by those seeking to score cheap political points.

Rivers state is not the only state where some lawmakers and the Governor are from opposing parties”.

Justice Hadiza Rabiu-Shagari of a Federal High Court, Lagos, has convicted an 87 year-old Woman Jailed for Selling Cannabis…who is named Agbomabiwon Maria Seriki, for dealing in 10.3 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa

Justice Rabiu-Shagari however, ordered that the convict should be remanded at the Lagos State’s Old People’s Home, Yaba, pending when any member of her family, who is willing and able to take proper care of her, apply to court to take her custody.
The convict, a resident of 9, Osunba Street, Oto-Awori, Ijanikin, Lagos, had last week Tuesday, pleaded guilty to a count charge of unlawful dealing in 10.3 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa, a narcotic similar to cocaine, heroin and LSD, when she was arraigned before the court, by the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Upon her plea of guilty, the prosecutor, Aliyu Abubakar, had urged the court to adjourn the matter till today, to review that fact of the case.
At the resumed hearing of the matter, the prosecutor after reviewed the fact of the case, tendered some exhibits which includes the convict’s confessional statements, drug test analysis, and the bulk of the Cannabis Sativa seized from her, which were admitted as exhibits by the court.
After the admissibility of the exhibits, the court pronounced the 87 years old woman, convicted as charged.

However, the convict’s lawyer, Prosper Ojakovo, in his alucutor, pleaded with the court to be lenient in sentencing his client.
Ojakovo told the court that the court was a first time offender, who has nobody to take care of her. He pleaded with the court to tamper justice with mercy, and consider her age in sentencing her.
In sentencing the convict, Justice Rabiu-Shagari stated that sending her to prison will not will be of no benefits, especially when consider her age.

The judge, consequently ordered that the convict be remanded at the Lagos State’s Old People’s Home, Yaba, pending when any more member of her family who is willing and able to take proper care of her apply to court for such.

As the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics,ASUP,nationwide start their nationwide ASUP Strike today,the lecturers of the state owned Ken Sar Wiwa Polytechnic Bori joins the strike.

A clear indication to that was declared by, Feri Gberegbe, the ASUP Chairman in Ken Saro Wiwa Polytechnic said they were joining the strike because what the national body of ASUP is agitating for directly affects the lecturers in the sate Polytechnics.

He expressed disappointment the various levels of government have refused to fund the Polytechnics despite the long period given to them by the union in their last agreement with government.

“We listened to the appeals by Parents,students and well meaning individuals when we called off our previous strike hoping that government will do what is needful but unfortunately it reneged,even when Polytechnic produces the critical technological manpower of any nation“.
He vowed that members of the union will sustain the strike as called by the national body.

There is an announcement that IPOB sacks Nnamdi Kanu as leader. Security agencies were thrown into confusion in Abuja from early Sunday when Radio Biafra, the controversial mouthpiece of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) returned to the airwaves with a 6.am to 7.am broadcast.

That announcement sacking Kanu was exactly what kept the security agencies worried, because it could mean that another arm of IPOB may have mutated just as IPOB mutated from Raph Uwazuruike’s Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB).
A top national security source told THEWILL thus: “All had been quiet on the IPOB front recently. The organization has been receding from the public consciousness as many Igbo people began to openly talk against the separation and disunity agenda of IPOB. The Federal Government has been reaching out to the South-East and their State Governors have taken a hard stand against IPOB accusing the organization of pursuing anti-Igbo interests; now comes this totally new and unexpected development”.

At the height of the IPOB controversy the national unity was greatly tasked when Northern youths issued Igbo people resident in the North a quit notice.
The radio’s programme started with the lady announcer who gave her name as Ifeoma Okorafor, stating that the radio was back on air and IPOB was restructuring. She then announced that “Mazi Nnamdi Nwanekaenyi Kanu, the former Director of Radio Biafra is hereby dismissed and removed as Director of Radio Biafra following extensive and intensive consultations”. She named “Mazi Ezenwachukwu Sampson Okwudili as Kanu’s replacement.”

Kanu has not been seen publicly since he fled Abia State after the military raided his family compound some months back.

The reasons the Radio Biafra announcer gave for Kanu’s removal included:
(A) Personalization of the Biafran struggle and derailing from the core objectives of IPOB as a grassroots movement.
(B) Kanu’s actions and his decisions to incite members of IPOB towards violence leading to the death of many innocent young people in Onitsha, Aba and Umuahia is totally unacceptable and grossly irresponsible.
(C) Kanu privately collected £14m and another $22m to purchase landed properties abroad in his name and that of his father Igwe Israel Kanu in a clear case of monkey dey work baboon dey chop.
(D) Kanu turned our collective struggle into a money-making enterprise for himself and his father. Thus the monies contributed by enterprising and hard-working Igbo youths across the world are being collected and converted by one man and his father while pretending to be sacrificing for the cause.
(E) Upon his release from detention in April 2017, one expected Kanu to drum up support for the release of his colleagues and co-detainees such as Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi. These are our brothers who were arrested at the same time with him and they should not be forgotten. We hereby demand their release. Kanu, since his release, has never spoken about them or appealed for the release of these our freedom fighters. Instead, he has been going about collecting chieftaincy titles and having a messianic swagger that even allowed full-blooded Igbomen to kneel down and kiss his feet.
(F) Kanu threw away the original meaning of our collective struggle for personal gain and vain glorification. IPOB believes in democracy as a solid base of any modern state, the rule of law, and will always reject violence in all its ramifications.
The security agencies do not as yet know what to make of this new development in IPOB.

The sack of Mazi Kanu is only the latest change in the checkered history of Radio Biafra, which began as the mouthpiece of MASSOB. It later announced the sacking of MASSOB founder, Uwazuruike as its Director and MASSOB leader and replaced him with Uchenna Madu “in the task of chasing down and overcoming the enemies of Biafra” according to a statement signed by Uche Mefore as the radio’
