Escrava Isaura

Based on the novel of the same name by 19th century abolitionist writer Bernardo Guimarães, it tells the story of the struggles of Isaura, a white-skinned black slave, to find happiness during the Brazilian Empire. It was starred by Lucélia Santos in the titular role, and Rubens de Falco as slave owner Leôncio Almeida, the main antagonist.[1] It was adapted by Gilberto Braga, and directed by Herval Rossano and Milton Gonçalves, running 100 episodes.
Escrava Isaura became one of the most popular telenovelas in the world, being broadcast in over 80 countries

Mityna:
There was a thread on a guy that almost slept with a married woman and one of the commenters said, "see how easy it was for her to get laid". And he said so with such animosity.

What makes you guys think a lady doesn't use guys to satisfy her sexual urges? Una think say our body be firewood too?

As far as I'm concerned, women gain more from every relationship, they get to have sex and they get showered with gifts and money too. Afterall, is it not "why will I spend money on a girl that refuses me sex". Hehehe. Your small and narrow male minds.

I'm not encouraging pre-marital sex o, I feel everyone o's entitled to their own opinion on that. So no preaching on this thread.

My point is, when two people have sex, it should always be remembered that two people are enjoying it, and not that one person (the guy) is enjoying it and the other (the lady) is a victim/cheap wh.ore whereas, she wants it and even enjoy's it more.

madam, sex is not about sexual urges alone, that was the point.

you see people shouting dna test everywhere, women shouting men are this and that, why cant he commit, I am unmarried, he is a two timing cheat, he is a womanizer, i missed my period and he doesn't care, i got abortion and then saw him checking out other women at the club, my baby daddy has multiple baby mamas, why are men always salivating at women's butts and bosoms, blah blah, etc etc.

All these should show you sex context is more than bodily urges, and as a woman, when you play this game with a man, if you are a black Nigerian female in particular, you may not win o.

Family / Re: Should People Be Judged By The Deeds Or Misdeeds Of Their Family Members? by tpiaP: 11:07pm On Jan 17, 2015
LordReed:

It is inevitable that a person riding in a shït wagon will smell of shït even if he is not the nightsoil man. If a person practicing 419 has family members that defend his actions then they deserve the insults they get. However the assumption is that it has been confirmed that the family member actually does support the wrong doing. In no way is it okay to insult people for a rumor or unconfirmed reports or simply because they are related to wrong doers. Insulting people is not something I really subscribe to but our society uses it as a goad and can be instrumental to showing someone that they are making a bad move.

I guess I should assume the answers to the question are specific to cultural contexts, more than individual ones.

Family members of a 419 person should first be confirmed to support such nefarious activities before being attacked for those imo, however, its possible guilt is assigned based on familial relationship rather than actual involvement.

However, railing, ranting and abusing someone simply because of info received about their family member, does not seem like it should be an acceptable course of action, although I could be wrong.

I'm not sure about that. Diasporans pretty much are from a different culture.

true, but non-Nigerians are generally not so strict about marriage as Nigerians can be.

Non-Naija ladies don't have anyone to warn them. We've had the message hammered into our heads from the time we completed puberty.

non-naija ladies might be less strict with their requirements perhaps.

they overlook things which might be considered seriously in naija when it comes to marriage.

its easier to do that if you're from a different culture.

This is exactly what our families are afraid of. Smh.

true.

however, there are actually quite a lot of diasporan ladies on nl and also quite a lot of African men on nl.

unfortunately, this mistrust and reputation of Nigerians for 419 and other unsalacious activities, is making the ladies keep their distance.

but I think non-Nigerian ladies don't mind taking the risk sha.

Literature / Re: Yellow-yellow By Kaine Agary by tpiaP: 9:00pm On Jan 17, 2015
the story is about the Niger Delta seen through the eyes of a young girl of mixed Nigerian and European parentage, right?

Nigerian mother, (absent) Mediterranean father.

I think it discusses poverty, ecological issues, and oil.
