It is interesting to read this story. Glo has come out to explain what is happening but then to me MTN is still at fault! It is beef! You don't expect business man to pay such money at a go. That is wickedness. Has MTN paid Nigerian government it's money too?

Politics / Court Reduces Governor Nyame’s 14-year Jail Term by trioti(m): 2:56pm On Nov 16, 2018
An Appeal Court in Abuja Friday reduced the jail term of a former Governor of Taraba State, Jolly Nyame, from 14 years to 12 years.

The court also imposed a fine of N495 million on the convict.

Justice Adebukola Banjoko of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja, in May, sentenced Nyame to 14 years imprisonment without an option of fine.

Justice Banjoko handed down the sentence after she found Nyame guilty of "misappropriation and misapplication of N165 million with dishonest intention".

Politics / NLC Slams State Governors, Increases Minimum Wage Demand To N66,500 by trioti(m): 2:40pm On Oct 31, 2018
Nigeria Labour Congress on Wednesday lambasted the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) for proposing N22, 500 as minimum wage.

This is coming barely 24 hours after the governors of Nigeria’s 36 states after an emergency meeting on Tuesday said they could only pay N22,500 as the new national minimum wage.

"Governors, therefore, agreed to pay a national minimum wage of N22,500," Governor Abdul’Aziz Yari Abubakar,
Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum said in a statement.

The President of the NLC, Ayuba Wabba, in a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, said the NGF was not known to law and is thus an illegal body.

Wabba further noted that the Labour Unions have increased its demand from earlier N30,000 minimum wage proposal to N66,500.

“The demand of Organised Labour is not N30,000; our demand is N66,500,” Wabba said at the conference.

The NLC and other labour unions had earlier threatened to commence strike by November 6 if the government does not accept the N30,000 minimum wage.

“We wish to reiterate our position adopted at our National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of 23rd October, 2018 that any figure below N30,000 will not be accepted by us.

“We call on our members to continue to mobilise in preparation for the commencement of an indefinite strike on the 6th of November, 2018, if by then necessary steps have not been taken to adopt the recommendations of the Tripartite Committee,” Wabba said.

Politics / Presidential Aspirant, Sowore, Attacked At Ooni Of Ife’s Palace by trioti(m): 12:23pm On Sep 11, 2018
In what seemed like a coordinated attack, presidential aspirant and founder of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, and members of his #TakeItBack movement were tear-gassed while prostrating before the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, on Monday.

As the situation deteriorated, Sowore rushed to check up on students of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), who accompanied him to the palace. He was in the process physically assaulted by thugs within the palace premises.

Palace sources, who asked not to be named, revealed that the reason for the assault was that Sowore initially refused to prostrate to the Ooni to protest the three-hour delay in attending to members of the movement who had waited for the Ooni.

As the incident unravelled, one student and another member of the royal household collapsed due to respiratory challenges arising from the toxic fumes.

Sowore, who confronted the Ooni on the assault on his person and members of his movement, wondered why a guest would be attacked within palace premises.

Responding, the Ooni swiftly continue reading at /p8G40p-4nK

Politics / Buhari Is Right, Nigerian Youths Are “lazy” by trioti(m): 11:33am On Apr 21, 2018
Nigerian youths are at it again doing what they know how to do best: “wailing and ranting.” This time around, it’s over a declaration by President Muhammadu Buhari. Speaking at the Common Wealth Business Forum in Westminster on April 18, 2018, the integrity personified president reportedly said: “Nigerian youths are lazy, uneducated; and don’t like to do any work because they believe their country is an oil-rich nation, thus always wanting free oil money.”

Not considering the notion that it is a pure demonstration of sincerity and integrity to say things as they appear, irrated youths have since the statement went viral been calling for the head of the president. Even those without a permanent voters’ card are boiling. Hiss! One thing is certain about the convertible statement. It is the fact that President Buhari is right. And, here is why.

Lagos State Government has made a law that makes having a credit in Yoruba language compulsory for all candidates seeking admission into all state-government controlled tertiary institutions in the state.

The law according to the Commissioner for  Information and Strategy, Kehinde  Bamigbetan is meant to preserve and promote the Yoruba language in all schools in Lagos.

This, therefore, implies that any secondary school leaver irrespective of their tribe will not be given admission into the state-controlled tertiary institutions if the candidate does not have a credit in Yoruba language in his/her O'level.

So, if you are seeking admission into tertiary institutions and you don't have a credit in Yoruba language, you'll need to steer clear of these six schools in Lagos.

Sports / Manchester United Agree Contract Terms With Alexis Sanchez by trioti(m): 9:04am On Jan 15, 2018
There are strong reports doing the rounds on the internet that Alexis Sanchez has agreed contract terms with Manchester United.

Sanchez was left out of Arsenal‘s matchday squad for the 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon, amid speculation of a January exit, while Arsene Wenger also confirmed that a resolution on the striker’s future was imminent.

Table topping Manchester City had been expected to conclude a deal for Sanchez this month after Arsenal pulled the plug on their £60million transfer in the closing stages of the summer window.

However, there are now strong reports that United are now favourites to land the 29-year-old after beating the Premier League leaders with their offer.

Celebrities / Lagos Sues AY And Davido Over Tax Evasion by trioti(m): 8:49am On Jan 15, 2018
Lagos Beams Attention On Tax Defaulters, ‘Sues’ AY And Davido
The Lagos State Government has focused its attention on high-profile tax defaulters in the state with the aim to ensure high level of compliance with its tax laws.

This is just as the state government has reportedly sued entertainers Davido and Ayo Makun, better known as AY, for tax evasion, as the duo are accused of evading tax despite high earnings from their business.

A court paper, seen by The Punch on Saturday, indicated that the state government had dragged the duo before the court for alleged tax evasion.

The news outlet disclosed that while Davido was charged before a Lagos high court in July 2017 and may risk a jail term if convicted AY was also charged to court in 2016 for failing to file his tax returns.
