Hi LadyAy,

Unfortunately I don't know the factors that warrant the "x". Probably not food though. I wish you the best.

ladyAy:
Hi Trishxx. Thanks so much for sharing your JFK POE experience and Amen to your prayers. I'm coming in through JFK in about 2 weeks too.
Can you Pls shed more light on the questions asked on the self assessment machine that you think might warrant the X mark and secondary inspection. Could it be food only? My mum is joining me 2 weeks after so I can leave her to come with food. I have a connecting flight few hours after landing JFK so any Info to avoid secondary inspection will be highly appreciated.
Thanks so much and I wish you a pleasant stay and awesome delivery experience.

quote author=trishxx post=48668215]Hi all. Got to the US through JFK (New York) yesterday. In summary, I used the self assessment machine and it printed a slip without an "x" across it. I think those who had the "x" were sent for secondary, at least they were separated. Spent 2 minutes or less with the immigration officer, gisting half the time.

I wish you all a smooth experience as I had. Cheers.

Hi all. Got to the US through JFK (New York) yesterday. In summary, I used the self assessment machine and it printed a slip without an "x" across it. I think those who had the "x" were sent for secondary, at least they were separated. Spent 2 minutes or less with the immigration officer, gisting half the time. He only asked what I'm here for, to which I responded "vacation and to have my baby" He looked surprised so I stepped back so he could see my bump and said "yes I'm pregnant";
If I have relatives here, "no", but I told him who i'll stay with and where;
How long I plan to stay, "10 weeks, I have a return ticket". Didn't ask bout money or correspondence etc. Was stamped in. Customs just looked at my passport and took the slip, as I didn't hv any food. Took the very convenient AirTrain out of the main airport to get to the shuttle pick up area.

I wish you all a smooth experience as I had. Cheers.

@happytbaby Thanks a lot!

happytbaby:
My friend said they typically leave the airport around 9am when she flies Arik. I saved myself the stress and of worrying about the next flight and booked an hotel to chill and rest till next morning.

Meanwhile El Paso mamas that will be in town for the two months of September and October, I may be giving out a room in the apartment I got on airbnb for about 600dollars per month but I have to get there first (at aug end) and see how the place be. You may pm me if interested.

I am not so keen on sharing apartments though....so I guess my spirit has to flow with the person first plus other considerations.

Hi everyone.

I know no two experiences are probably the same, but can those who have passed through JFK give a rough estimate of how long it took them from landing to leaving (or being free to leave) the airport? My Arik flight would land (if there are no delays) in the early morning, and I'm trying to figure out what time to book for a local flight to El Paso. Local flight also to take off from JFK

Please help a sister, from your experience. God bless you all.

Hi all.

First of all, sorry for quoting your post Nefertitiram. Kinda new here and haven't figured out how to create a new post.

This is to give back, as is said around here, after learning a whole lot from this thread.

DH and I had our visa interview a few days ago. Twas pretty simple. Below is the transcript:

VO: Good morning
DH&I: good morning
VO: What are you going to the US for?
DH: vacation and childbirth
VO: Where?
Me: el paso
VO: what's your relationship?
DH: we're married
VO: when did you get married?
DH: Blah
VO: What do you do?
DH: I work with blah as a blah manager
VO: what do you do in that role?
DH: I do xyz for the company
VO: How long have you been employed there?
DH: blah years
VO: and what do you do (to me)
Me: I am a legal practitioner and do blah blah
VO: have you contacted any doctor?
Me: yes. I have correspondence with this hospital and that doctor [Hands over emails]
VO: why this hospital?
Me: We got a strong recommendation from my aunt who is a RN with practicing privileges there.
VO: how much do you plan to spend?
Me: blah. We have a detailed budget if you'll like to see it. [She nods. I hand over budget sheet with colour highlights. She barely glanced at it but I guess she only needed the total]
VO: Pick up your visas in 3 days.

So thanks to all the users on this thread for your very helpful posts. God bless you.

@herrik066 Hello,

Please could you kindly help me out with info on the cheap tickets.

1 adult to New York from August 13th to September 28th 2016, or any other dates with the best rates within the respective weeks.

I will be very grateful to receive a response and the link from you. Thank you very much

herrik066:
I will not hold back in offering cheap flights info in the light of the recent supposedly naira devaluation. I would have love to drop the info here, but it will constitute an ad for the airline. PM me and get the cost/link of the airline with the cheap flight ticket.
