Tomjazzy2: I think you have a personal beef with this dude, if not i see no reason why you wouldn't pay a visit to verify his claims, it took me weeks to be convinced anyway, he's the only dealer on nairaland that wouldn't give his account number like many others will do to send money for a car, i commend him for that Once again thanks for the suv, i will surely use your service again 1 Like |

Romance / Help Me Get Out Of This Love Triangle by Truth1011: 1:02pm On Aug 19, 2014 |
My close friend in a relationship with a girl. The relationship is less than a week old but the girl keeps telling me she is ready to dump him for me when I'm ready. She even said it to his face but my reply is always 'Papa is my friend'. The truth is that I like this girl and would have gone for her if not for my friend's feelings. Now, I'm looking for a way to get her and also save my friendship. Is there anybody who has been in this situation before? Any Advice? |

thelastPope: You are the one who doesn't get it. Wether you go to school or live your whole life alone in the the jungle, you will still realise that when you add two things together, it gives you two things. This is more than a common sense for crying out loud. It is an absolute truth. 1 Like |

Correct me if I'm wrong but I never disagreed with you. The only thing I don't know if I disagreed with is your definition of 'fact/Knowledge' which is more complicated to me than what I percieved from your post. That is why I explained mine. And in the end I agreed with your philosophy. |

thelastPope: Do you known the meaning of Fallacy? There is nothing fallacious about my post. It is you who is too blind by faith in somebody else philosophy that you cannot understand simple arithmetic logic. Even a new born baby with fully developed brain can count the breast of his mother and conclude it is double. If you cannot understand common arithmetic logic, how can you understand my theory when you don't even know the meaning of fallacy. This is not an argument but a theory open to criticism from open minded people only. |

Logicboy03: Let me explain the relationship between fact/knowledge, believe and truth in my own perspective. To solve a mathematical problem all the variables are needed to get the absolute answer. Consider this mathematical statement. 1+2+3+4=10 where a=1, b=2, c=3, 4=d and 10=X. a,b,c and d are the variables, a+b+c+d=X is the formular and X is the solution we are looking for. If all the variables are known, we get an absolute value of X (solution) which is 10. But if one or more value(s) of the variable is unknown, we get a value of X relative to the value of the missing variables based on the known variables. Illustration(of unknown value of a): a+2+3+4=X :. 9=X-a In the illustration above, the value of X is relative to (depends on) the value of a Now, if you're a computer expert, you will agree with me that most (if not all) life problems can be mathematically illustrated. Now in real life, the truth is usually assummed based on the fact/knowledge/proof that that we have. Mathematically, the facts are the variables and the truth is the solution. And in most life problems, many of the variable are usually unknown and our assumed truth is usually a belief (relative truth). [I assume you understand the theory of relativism and universalism] Moral of the story: The truth (relative/believe) is usually based on the known fact and relative to the unknown fact. But if the number of unknown fact is zero then the truth is absolute. Nevertheless, I will agree with you that the variable should be based on facts/knowledge not on a certian book or religion invented by organised group of human beings nor the oral tradition of our forefathers. |

advocate666: My definition of believe is accept the fact 100% (i.e with zero percentage of doubt). Sorry there is no other word I can use. With that being said, it is reasonable to doubt the inexistence of santa claus since you were not there then to actually confirm or not confirm the absolute truth. Aside from natural laws like the gas laws, laws of motion, mathematical statements and few others that are accepted by atleast a typical homo sapiens brian provided it understands it. Other rules/laws/statements like moral laws, human rights, 10 commandments etc are usually relative to some extent. Check out 'universalism' and 'relativism' |

Logicboy03: You're are saying I should ignore my believe. How can I focus if I don't believe in myself. 'Cos I know you cannot believe in yourself 100% and still believe in 'god' 100% vice versa. Most importantly, your believe system is the engine that runs your life. |

advocate666: Op, why do you think it is insincere to believe there is no god?because your cannot absolutely prove it. Same goes for those who believe in God |

I believe it is ignorant to believe there is 'god', likewise, insincere to believe there is none. Though it is wise to fear there might be one if you can and choose to live with fear of the unknown. I, personally 'cannot' and choose not to because I feel it is better for me to be comfortable with what I believe in than to believe in what I'm comfortable with by satifying fear. I choose to believe in myself but the fear of 'god' that has been invoked in me mainly because of my background is making me uncomfortable. So how do I overcome it. P.S: This is religious section, not christian. So, don't tell me the fear of 'God' is the beginning of wisdom. The same bible tells you 'he' has not given you the spirit of fear. |
