Even with terrible hunger, if you sit in front of a good movie, there is plenty of relief. With the growing inflation, fuel hike, power tarriff hike,no light,no water, dollar rise, tomato sway; all the script writer/movie director does to ease tension, is to release a little preview of one most loved soup opera and we forget our woes and praise our punishers. E.g "the chibok series", "one new treasury thief", "hearsdmen saga", "great efcc", e.t.c. I love this country. soon europe/america will bow to our fantastic use of the mind. One question always comes to mind, whatever happened to those
young powerful 419 kingpins of the 90's who raped 'oyibo' accounts dry and brought their loots home. I see a lot of their wards now, sitting in our state/national assemblies committing incest and exporting their loot. I don't believe corruption is a crime, because we have Federal institute/ministry of corruption in virtually every state turning out fantastic graduates and eager to practice. The real corruption is being deprived/robbed of your fundamental right to think and reason, whether logically or not.

To bear when you understand is a small thing, but not this way. My question is- how come every calculation around the petroleum ministry is in rocket science- that even some terrible dullards understand and i don't. For example, Ibe Kachukwu said that so far the government has been paying N12 as subsidy. How on earth does adding that to N86.50 add up to N145?
How you deregulate and still determine pump price?
How do i then structure my bearing mode with electricity- 45% increase(if available);VAT-100% increase;Dollar$-still increasing; tomato-stay clear;garri-hmmm; remember toll-gates are coming back. This is nothing short of genocide.

[quote author=holuwatunmishe post=45534907]my question is what does Dino Melaye has to say on this matter? because I remembered vividly how he started d protest in 2012 when goodluck wanted removing this same subsidy . then Mr president should also increase d civil servants salaries so we won't die of hardship. its just done on Nigerians now that you don't know d worth of what you have until you lose it. Lord pls forgive us of all our iniquities and come to our aid Amen.[/quote

DINO is in UK, explaining to the PM how his "fantastic" fleet of cars and "fantastic" taste evades the "fantastic" corruption index that naija bears. Omo, leave this matter, breeze dey blow, just cover your eyes and use your ears.

i am a fan of total removal of subsidy anytime anyday but what is disturbing me here are these:
1- why did APC ask GEJ to reduce the pump price of PMS because crude oil was crashing during electioneering?
2- GEJ sold PMS @ #140 when he anounced subsidy removal then crude was at about $100 why do we have to buy @ #145 now crude saled @ about $41?
3- when price of goods goes up cos of this, will salaries be increased especialy now that many states arefinding it difficult to pay salaries?
4- why did APC has to wait until budget is signed into law before finally giving us a piece of their mind?

Let me see what those who vilified GEJ in 2012 are
Wole Soyinka, Tunde Bakare & save Nigeria group.
Just waiting to hear from them.
Shame will not allow anyone make an attempt at any of this questions, but the truth will ooze out gradually.

You are still ignoring the basic realities between the two circumstances before Jonathan and Buhari and therefore my point:

Jonathan had surplus money to support the subsidy and therefore had no justification for removing it; while Buhari doesn't have that kind of money to maintain it and is therefore justified in removing it.

Things are hard, yes. We knew from last year that this year might be tougher, and the policy makers warned us to prepare our minds towards such, yes.

We made a disastrous mistake not building financial buffers or infrastructure to cushion the effect of such a sharp decline in the price of our major forex earner even though we knew too well just how volatile the oil market is.

Today, we are paying a huge price for the indiscretion of our leaders past.

Solutions are being worked on and we are hopeful before long, the indices would start looking upwards. We aren't in this alone fellas, every other major oil exporter is feeling the pinch as well.

Funny how people insist CBN open its doors to all forex applicants, that that is the panacea to our present hardship. Dudes, it is projected if that is done, what we have as reserves can't even sustain us for three months!! It is simply not an option!

This situation will pass, I believe.

Lastly, the president needs to have a second look at Adesina. Dude doesn't seem to be playing his role like the nerd he is.
Dude, i beg your pardon. Leadership with an acute view as this is problem. Get on the streets in Lagos and try recounting this view of yours for response, then tell the story. Without sentiments, let's say it, this is F9.

The president should immediately sack the DG budget office and the minister of Budget and national planning. They have both failed the president. The massive fraud in the budget was perpetrated in the budget office and the leadership should be made to pay for it.

Going forward, the president needs to appoint a very knowledgeable and trusted management or public accountant as his special assistant on budget. The SA budget and his team will help the president review the budget before it is presented to FEC for approval. If due diligence was carried out on this budget after it was compiled by the budget office, all this paddling, inflation and errors would have been detected and the president would have been spared of this national embarrassment.
Now the blame game: who really is to blame? My dear minister comes to defend a budget he knows nothing about without his draft. Who prepares the budget? Who collates? Whoever the General Manager of this enterprise called Nigeria, needs to give some administrative explanations.

You are very ignorant of the process involved in the preparation of the national budget. The budget office and the ministry of budget and national planning are both responsible for the final compilation and not the finance ministry. All the paddling and figure inflation took place at the budget office. If anybody is to be sacked for this national embarrassment, it should be the DG budget office and the Minister of Budget and National planning.
Must we always come out to make excuses/or try to explain failure sentimentally. Every ministry is quoted in the budget, the spending is done in the MDAs', so who would have doctored the paper and why?
You come for a budget defence and you don't have a draft handy to submit?pls explain/excuse this too.

It would have made no difference. Nigerians would have still voted out the administration of the clueless buffoon regardless!

The message he is trying to pass across is simply nothing but the truth! I'm sure you and I also engage in corrupt practices on a small scale in our daily lives if we should be honest.

The message only offends the sensibilities of the unreasonable, the daft or hate filled wailers!

Amazing how you just committed the same offence(or rather, shoot urself in the foot), making a corrupt excuse for truth so glaring. Agreed we are long overdue for change, but this old guys don't have it. They put us in this mess and you create excuses to keep them there. It's only moral you fix your small scale corruption, and not Mr Lie's 'unscalable' explanations. It's over with GEJ, are we going to be stuck with this, or rather, is this what we want?
