Monmarri:
Good day house. Please I am asking on behalf of a friend. My friend wants to do court marriage in Bariga registry in Lagos to use it for her spouse visa application, she has gone to the registry and she was told the certificate is very authentic and can be used internationally. But the problem now is that some of her friends told her that local registry is not acceptable by UK Embassy only federal registry at Ikoyi. Please house how true is this? She is a confused. And beside the money for Ikoyi registry is higher, they were charging 60k while Bariga is charging only 15k. I will appreciate your suggestions please. Thank you.

Untrue... Mine wasn't from Ikoyi

Thanks for your response guys, most appreciated.

1) I have managed to do some digging and found a letter from my previous employer that dates back to December 2017. I will include a letter as suggested.

2) I'm also still quite close with my previous employer, so shouldn't be too much of a problem getting my old payslips certified.

Thanks for your help guys, I will surely update the forum on the application progress in about 4 weeks.

Good morning all,

Thank God for this platform, I wish I'd seen this straight after my initial spouse visa. I have a few questions I hope you guys can help with.

1) Although I moved in straight away with my partner when I arrived in the UK I didn't immediately change my bank details, HMRC etc. to her address as I was previously living in the UK before applying for the spouse visa, so I just used to have all my letters sent to my previous home address up until about a year ago. Although I did receive some correspondence there, they're not "offiicial documents". Is there anyway to circumvent this?

2) I changed jobs in the last 3 months from a previous job I'd been in for 2 years. Does this mean I'd have to send in 12 months worth of payslips?

3) Would I need a letter from my previous employer confirming how much I earned, or is the letter only required from my current employer?

Your responses will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

So I arrived in the U.K. In 2003 on a 2 year visit visa(I was 15 at the time). Went school, college, Uni and even got a valid N.I and started work. When I wanted to apply different solicitors just collected consultation fees and advice rubbish.

Forward to 2013, I and a few friends get stopped by police(another story) and they find out I don't have my papers, I get taken to a detention centre but I put a Human Rights application in straightaway. I spent 4 weeks there before I got released.

The application got refused, I then appealed to the lower tribunal and that also got refused. I then applied to appeal to the upper tribunal and that got refused also (we're now in 2015). A week after the refusal while I was still trying to put forward a Judicial Review, I got picked up at the reporting centre and got taken to a detention centre again.

I decided then I was going to leave voluntarily and even after that I still spent 6 weeks there.

Got to Nigeria in June 2015, married October 2016, Applied November 2016, Visa Feb 2017.

So for people with adverse immigration history, don't let it scare you. I had overstayed for 8 years before I applied but still got it.

Like oga Lexusgs430 would say be honest, dot all the I's and cross all the t's and you'll be good.

Good luck to everyone on this journey!

Im in Canada. They would normally deliver it to my house. Used Dhl. I joined this forum cause it was the most helpful and active. Did you get a decision?

Oh I see, nah I haven't yet

Mchikwaira I suggest you take a punt and go to TLS since they told you a decision has been made. I think someone did that without getting the email and their passport was there.

Thanks bro. I've seen that, I was hoping to get specifics based on other peoples experiences smiley

Realgeo:

2. Attending the clinic
You should contact the above approved clinic to book an appointment. You should make it clear that you need the test for a UK visa application. You can expect to get an appointment within a few days of your request. At busy times you may have to wait 10 days for an appointment, especially during the UK student visa peak season between June and September. We cannot arrange or prioritise appointments for you.

3. What you should bring with you
proof of identification, which contains your photograph, preferably your passport;
tuberculosis test fee; and
if you have had tuberculosis in the past or have any other lung disease you should provide details of your previous screening and, if possible, your medical notes and x-ray results.
If you would like an appointment with a female clinician, please inform the clinic when you schedule your appointment.

If you need to cancel your appointment you should contact the clinic and refer to their cancellation policy and procedure.

4. Test fees
The fee for tuberculosis screening is 145 US Dollars for all adults and 55 US Dollars for children under 11 (or its equivalent in Naira). The fee will be payable in local currency at the prevailing exchange rate advised by the IOM. You will pay the IOM directly for the cost of your tuberculosis test. The cost of the test is in addition to the visa application fee.

The test fee does not cover treatment if you have tuberculosis.
Travel / Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by TunzAntman: 7:24pm On Feb 03, 2017
Quick question people. Has anyone done a TB test at the IOM recently?

How long did it take to get an appointment?
How much did it cost in naira?
How long did it take to get the certificate?

Oya help me answer o!

Brexit isn't affecting your application because it hasn't happened yet. The wait can Ben agonizing but technically you're still within the processing times. So all you can do is keep cal and wait it out.
"We have service level standards for processing UK visa applications. We
will process 90% of non-settlement applications within 3 weeks, 98% within
6 weeks and 100% within 12 weeks of the application (biometric taken) date;
and 95% of settlement applications within 12 weeks of the biometric taken
date and 100% within 24 weeks of the application (biometric taken) date.
Please note that we define 1 week as 5 working days."

Captgb:
Please house... Any advice will be welcome as this wait is killing me because on UK immigration website m they wrote there that EEA Family Permit will take 15working days and I have submitted this application since the 13th of December and I received a message d following week that my application is not straight forward and since then we've not heard from them again. We have tried mailing them but no response. Please can anyone advise or is the Brexit thingy affecting EEA FP already?

I think at this stage all you can do is remain calm. As we've seen on this thread, no two applications are the same. Just try and relax, do something to take your mind off it. Your passport will be with you in a few days, visa included smiley

cheesy cheesy ECO na real junky!

Benz101:

Lol. My brother, considering the amount one paid for the application (~ to price of a plot of land in some areas), one has to be excited at first, then tensed later on as to what decision has been reached. Even when you do everything right, they make a reason.

My friend that applied for his Naturalization in April last year, till today no news. MP don involve. The Indian lady said to be handling his case called him last week Tuesday, advising that ILR and Naturalization are the same. Why was he applying for it. That's to tell you that na junky be ECO.
Travel / Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by TunzAntman: 7:10pm On Jan 17, 2017
Mate just email them to get an update on the application. There doesn't seem to be any reason why your application should be delayed. No one here can tell you why they take their time with seemingly straightforward applications.

Try and read through and you'll see a couple of people that applied through the SE route. Although from my understanding, you'd have to have HMRC documentation to show how much you've earned and tax you've paid for the year and you wouldn't be able to do this till at April at the earliest. My partner was self employed but we decided it'd be better for her to get paid employment for the application as opposed to waiting till April to submit tax assessment

Marcos100:
Hi everyone- hope someone can help.

I am a British Citizen married to a Nigerian man in July 2016 having travelled there to Nigeria. I stayed for 7 weeks with him and his family. We met through his elder brother whom I mutually knew through friends here in the UK. We had been speaking for a year and 6 months before I travelled to get married. He proposed after a year. having graduated in July 2016 I have started working on a self employed basis on my return from Nigeria in Sept 2016 - now I am confused and stressed as don't know how to account for self employment as I was previously employed till Aug 2016.

My question is does it matter how we met and that I only travelled to get married Albeight I spent 7 weeks with him? Someone said I am better off travelling again to see him which I don't mind but need to start this process too. Also, Is there a link I could read up on regarding meeting the financial requirement or just help I could receive from anyone? I currently earn £700 per week but as self employed I pay through my accountants the NI contri etc. Thank you.

Yes but I can imagine they would take satisfaction is frustrating him.

I reckon the 3 month processing time is frustration enough, considering priority is like 5-10 days. They'll probably come with their nonsense about it not being straightforward just to take the piss but if everything is in order no reason to get refused.

Well that''s not good is it? In all honesty the chances are. . . nothing is impossible with these people. Everything about the application needs to be on point and an apology and a very good explanation as to why he overstayed but since he doesn't have one... I don't know.

If you're applying as a spouse, they cannot refuse you just because you've overstayed.

Is the valuation report, the same as home inspection report ? I somehow don't think so ...................

I understand it isn't the same. I believe the docs we have should be enough for the accommodation requirements and that can even be cross checked on the electoral roll. My question is more about filling the form where it asks for the passport numbers of everyone living in the house.
Travel / Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by TunzAntman: 5:22pm On Nov 24, 2016
Lexusgs430:

To safe rejection on the basis of overcrowding, simply do a property inspection report. If you don't and the voters list throws multiple occupancy. That's a ground for rejection......

It's a 6 bedroom house. There is a report from a valuation company because they wanted to sell the house earlier in the year so there would have t be like 15 people in the house for it to be overcrowded. It's just a bit intrusive asking the lodger for her passport number (she's an elderly oyinbo lady from SA). So maybe put my wife's mum and bros passport numbers and leave hers blank?
Travel / Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by TunzAntman: 4:41pm On Nov 24, 2016
Hi Guys,

I've booked my biometrics for next week and I have a question on the Financial Requirement form (Annex 2).

Where it asks for the details of the other people living in sponsors property, is it absolutely necessary to include their passport numbers or will the name, relationship to sponsor and nationality suffice.

My spouse lives with her mum, brother and a lodger. The mum and brothers passport numbers shouldn't be a problem but how about the lodger?

Plix epp me o!

Date of arrival doesn't really matter, just put a date 3 months ahead and just state "permanent" for how long.

For the WhatsApp Chat logs I used a program called FinePrint to print 4 pages on each side of the sheet (but I didn't have 1500 pages!) I think a few samples covering the period of relationship should be enough (maybe 2 or 3 pages each month?)

I doubt they go through it, it's just to show evidence of relationship.

Thanks bro, I'll check out the FinePrint.

Evening Nairaland Gurus,

I'm back again! No vex o.

Just a couple of questions on this online application.

I will be submitting the form tomorrow, what do you suggest I put as my date of planned arrival in the UK? And also where it asks "How long do you intend to stay in the UK?"

2) I mostly communicate with the missus on whatsapp/FaceTime. I've just downloaded the chat and it like 1500 pages on the smallest possible font since I've been in Naija. How do you suggest we do this? Should we just use convos from mayne the last couple of months or a few pages from each month I've been here?

Thank you!
