What a real weasel!! Only in Nigeria, in most sane societies, people like Bababgida will die in prison.
Politics / Re: Father's Land Vs Birth Land by Tuyis: 10:01pm On May 30, 2010
Father's land, mother's land or wherever land, home is where the heart is. Wherever your heart is, is where I believe you would rather be.

If you are igbo and your heart is truly in Lagos, I believe that is your home and should be able to follow your dreams there.

But unfortunately, like William shakespeare said in Macbeth, "there's no art to find the mind's construction in the face" You can claim to love one place while your heart is firmly in another.

KenGali:

Trouble with Nigeria:
I observe through this thread the greatest disability of Nigeria.

Ist is that Nigerians are so tribalistic that a simple beauty contest becomes even contentious issue. Some people even want to change the rules and base representation on tribe, some think it should be indigen-ship. It is surprising to think to me that some people on this forum do not think it worthy that a girl who is not indigent to Ekiti state, but was born or live in Ekiti should be able to compete to represent Ekiti state. That is really worrisome!
2nd this trend to change the rule of the game every time we think we are not winning. People here are already formulating new rules for the competition without thinking that it might really work against them in future. And this has been the direction of our national life. Things like the inception of JAMB and its crooked educationally advantaged policy, to the PDP presidential zoning formula. Why can't we adopt a simple idea of let the best win the race. I believe some people in this forum should find out from the so called more beautiful women who did not compete in the MBGN or their "tribal reserve of un-ordinary beauty" why they lacked the courage to turn-up for the competition. The first step to becoming a beauty queen is to enlist, if you do not enlist I see no way you can become the queen.

I also believe it is high time this country defines her citizenship, because a lot of evil is being committed by people in the name of indigence. Kudos to the new MBGN!

You are taking this way too seriously! It's just a silly beauty contest for goodness sake! You can't even make a light hearted joke anymore, without some patriotism police baring their fangs!

that chicken is a freeeaaak poor bird, i guess it won't be able to catch any "chicks" when growing up

I think that would be least of it's problems right now. There is probably an army of fetish makers trying to get it and grind it up as we speak. Same reason why hunchbacks are not very safe in some parts of Nigeria!!

What is wrong with Africa? This could be a warning sign that something is wrong with the environment somewhere, but no, it must be the evil spirit! I hope someone will look into this before human babies start to have four legs in that place!

Arrant nonsense. What is not right is not right. This man is clearly interested in sleeping with children. It is not only a crime in Nigeria, but a crime that shouldn't be committed by an esteemed senator of Nigeria.
And what is all these bulls about letting God be the judge when you are knowingly destroying other people's lives?

Thank goodness stupidity is not against the Nigerian constitution otherwise Bashdecash would have been in jail. Let me say something very clearly, Nigeria is a secular state that promotes freedom of religion but when you break the law as Yerima did you ought to face the consequences. So if my religion say traditional african religion allows ritual killing do we then say because my religion allows ritual killing and the Nigerian constitution allows freedom of religion then it is okay for me to go out and cut off a few heads?? People like bashdecash that use religion as a convenient excuse for wrong doing make me sick.

Brilliant! This should be clear to even to Yerima, if his religion to allows him to marry a 13 year old girl and mine allows me to sacrifice him to my god, will that be o.k. Afterall, no religion is superior to the other under Nigerian laws.

It's all make believe, Hollywood movies have more diabolical plots than anything Nigeria can dish out. You either watch them or not, no cause for alarm!

Cohomology:

All talk about juju is utter rubbish!

Juju has zero powers and those who think otherwise are just part of the huge proportion of gullible Nigerians.

1. No juju can provide the level of healthcare modern medicine can provide. None!
2. No juju can compete with modern transportation: cars, airplanes, etc.
3. No juju can provide any form of communication between people separated by large distances, like the cellphone, satellite phone, VOIP, etc. can provide.
4. All juju must bow to the laws of physics! My AK-47 will annihilate any babalawo, in this life or the the next. Kapish!

When the Europeans arrived Africa, our ignorant predecessors (bless their sweet but ignorant souls), were beheading humans and sacrificing to nonentities to provide protection. However, when their worthless juju was confronted with European soldiers, Christians who believed in the grace of God through Christ Jesus our Saviour, but never doubted the universal laws codified in the physical and chemical equations that govern the behavior of matter, ALL the juju and their ignorant adherents were crushed!

The average Nigerian believes in juju because of the cataclysmic ignorance that rules Nigeria!

You are absolutely right, but the question here is not whether juju is real or effective. The poster just don't like to see it in movies, which is perfectly legitimate, but then this is 2010 not 1610.
You don't go out and shoot at Indians after watching a western, why would you want to visit a babalawo after watching some Yoruba movie?
Religion / Re: Why Do Yoruba Movies Promote Babalawos? by Tuyis: 7:43am On May 18, 2010
Aloy+Emeka:

Because juju is an integral part of Yoruba culture. Yorubas are more conversant with spirits, voodoo  and the spiritual world than any other ethnic group in Africa.

Obviously you know nothing about the Yoruba culture and history. The history has been bastardized to the point where what used to be a traditional healer is now widely regarded as a diabolical figure.

Even the Esu in Yoruba traditional believe is not remotely connected to the Biblical devil. The concept of the demonic, evil doing Lucifer was not present in Yoruba culture before Christianity.
Anyway, Its just a movie. If you don't like it, toss it and watch what you like!

Yes mekuxxx, you are a super okoro man. Now, will you now let it rest. A ku klux klan for example will not ask you whether you are Okoro or Yoruba, he will attack you regardless. Can't you see how petty this is?

Clearly, most of the ngbatis in here are ignorant and near-illiterate. Poor sentence construction, poor use of caps, poor spellings, poor vocabulary and all that thrash. I find it extremely hard reading all the gibberish you put up, so much so that my dog (yes, my dog) can actually write better than you all; dumbest creatures that walked planet earth.

A monkey banging randomly on a computer keyboard would make better sense than you. What you are displaying here is more than ignorance, it borders on psychosis.

It is obvious that death is not deterrent to those who wish to plunder Nigeria, so, gloating is a waste of time. Babangida is scheming to come back, do you think he cares whether you go outside and dance butt na*ked when he dies?
I have politcal differences with people, not personal vendetta. That is where I draw the line.

You become like them when you resort to eulogizing them in dishonest ways. Speak the truth ALL THE TIME; Stand for justice even in death !!! That makes you a better person that they are, dead or alive!

I'm sure you are not suggesting that I eulogised Yar' Adua or anyone else. If you have any evidence to the contrary please make it known.
There is a line between not agreeing with someone and being downright cold hearted. Which makes you not better than the people you criticise.

My greatest regret was that I never knew that turai was abdullahi sister. I would have return to nigeria and help. Abdullahi is a good person.

Turai is a great woman. And i respect her the way she cared for her husband till he die. And all what she did to keep the north in power. It shows a great woman fighting till the last for her people.
She is a woman of encourage. most likely the greatest fulani/hausa woman so far. And all her move to remain her husband and people in power. People may call her name, but you need to be a nigerian to understand why Turai did what she did. May God give her the strenght to continue and God help her children. I am praying for you and the family.

So, keeping the North in power was more important than allowing her husband to live his last days in dignity. All those macabre meetings with religious leaders, for what purpose?

Yar Adua was Incompetent and its time for Nigerians to move on

all these crocodile tears will not help our economy grow. . .

Right now the world Economic Forum is going on in Tanzania, i am here watching it on Bloomberg

That forum was supposed to take place in Nigeria but was moved because of this Yaradua saga

God Knows countless other damage that has been done to Nigeria because of this dead dude

Leadership is serious business. . .Most other countries bring their first eleven forward and if someone is injured is replaced immediately from a deep bench

We dont have time to waste. . .if Yaradua liked u,me or Nigeria,he would have resigned a long time ago. . . .

but he didnt, because he was thinking about only him,his fat greedy family and his cronies

I say let the dead bury their dead. . . .am drinking a guiness and i pour some out for the dude. .thats it

. . . .cheers. . . .Life goes on.

We should be careful so as not to become like the people we like to castigate, selfish and cold hearted.
