The Management of OAU released a press statement asking all students to vacate the University's premises following a protest staged by some angry students over the negligence of the University health workers that resulted into the death of one final year student, Adesina, Omowumi A. Here is the press release: PRESS RELEASE MANAGEMENT CLOSES DOWN OAU, ASKS STUDENTS TO VACATE HALLS OF RESIDENCE. On Tuesday, 28th September, 2021 ADESINA Omowumi Aishat, a 24-year old, female, Part 4 student of the Department of Foreign Languages reported to the Health Centre with signs and symptoms of a severe infection. She was promptly treated with some drugs prescribed and asked to report back as an out-patient. She reported back to the Health Centre in the morning of Thursday, 30th September, 2021. Upon examination, she was referred to the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital for further management where she regrettably died on Thursday 30th September, 2021. A release by the Public Relations Officer of the University, Abiodun Olarewaju, stated that the Management understands the grief resulting from this untimely death within the community and sympathizes with the parents, friends, colleagues and the entire students of the University on this sad loss, and prays for the repose of her soul. However, Management condemns in strong terms the continuous and uncontrolled protests by the students culminating in unbridled brigandage, blocking the Ife/Ibadan and Ife/Ede highways and other adjoining roads that could be used as alternative routes, and engaging in other acts that are detrimental to their health and the safety of the generality of the people. Therefore, having exhausted all necessary avenues to call the students to order and allow normalcy to return to the Campus and its environs, the authorities of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, have accordingly closed down the School until further notice. This is to forestall further breakdown of law and order. In view of this, all students are hereby directed to vacate their halls of residence and the Campus latest by 12:00 noon on Saturday, 2nd October, 2021. Consequently, the swearing-in of the newly elected Students’ Union officials has been put on hold, pending a review of the situation. In the meantime, the University management has put in place the machinery to unravel the circumstances surrounding the immediate and remote cause(s) of the crisis. Cc: lalasticlala

Amotolongbo: Hand gloves should suffice in identifying goalkeepers. My opinion. With a goalkeeper's jersey alone, nobody can accurately suggest which country /club such jersey represents. |

Given the fact that I'm not an ardent fan of any sport, but it amazes me to see goalkeepers in a different jersey from their teammates. I asked myself this question and some thoughts began to run through my mind, but I don't know how genuine they are: Thought No 1. Could it be for easy identification? Counter thought: with hand gloves and position, one should easily spot and differentiate goalkeepers from the remaining players. Thought No 2: could there be a regulation for such a move? Counter thought: Though it is widely accepted and no country/club has ever defaulted from this regular practice. Then again, if the color of a team can not be suggested by any sport regulatory body, why would they dish out such rule and make it oblivion of public. Thought No 3: could it be for protection? Owing to the nature of their jersey fabrication. I've come to seek opinions on this topic from sports enthusiasts and lovers.

Hello Nairalander, My wife called my attention to some strange granulated particles she noticed in our baby's faeces ( she's fond of checking his diaper before thrashing it to the waste cellophane) this morning. After a close examination, I discovered those particles were stones he might have picked and swallowed. Although, I've barricaded all the routes he might took to the same spot to avert further recurrence. He hasn't shown any sign of illness, albeit. But, should I need to be worried about this? Or is there any drug that can be administered to him aside vitamin C and paracetamol to prevent him against residual bacteria and fungi. Thanks. |

The only thing we know how to do in the country is to export crude product. Then, later pay a higher price for the finished product after it has been processed and sent back to us. May God save us in this country called Nigeria. The only way to develop a country is to export a finished product and not a crude. 4 Likes |

Is original certificate required? Because, the mail I got don't specify... And I don't want to risk going with original certificate, especially, when it is not needed. Thanks. |
