I really wish people will just come here and at least first agree they haven’t read more than a page or two instead of pretending that they have read much. Their questions keep betraying them, and someone like me will also join them and pretend like I didn’t see their post too. The most that will happen is you will be referred back to the first page or to some previous thread maybe.

When I joined nairaland and the US Visit Visa thread, I took particular interest in even previous posts by Tzetzefly especially, VisaOfficer, AbujaNIV, LagosNIV, then Fastlink, Gbenge77, LadyG and Thegreengooner (these were people whose takes were loaded and captivating at the time and till now) amongst others in spite of limited time, I’m better for it. My first and second question on here had some good space between because I was catching up after work, every night as I lay there on my bed till sleep comes. Was showing stuff to my wife alongside as I saw something new and important to us.

There are some people either sharing or liking posts from even as early as 2016, I wish I knew them sef, I won’t hesitate to answer all of their questions to the best of my ability as time and opportunity avails, they are serious, clearly!

Nice to know that the thread is manned by very capable hands as it were. Seyewest, Juswise, Madam LadyG, Omobendel24 among others. I will state here that you guys have been doing a very good job on this forum even despite your tight schedules I presume.

HOWEVER AN ADVISE TO PROSPECTIVE APPLICANTS:

I must state that if an applicant does not have a genuine reason(s) to travel to the States, please do not waste your precious funds on visa fees not to mention the resultant negative psychological devastation.

The reform in immigration process is very real not just at the Embassy/ Consulate, but at the Point of Entry.

A word of caution please!

Attached is an entry stamp of a traveller to Atlanta.

Have a nice day!

I want to visit the US for vacation during Christmas with my family, wife and three children (ages one to eight). I currently have a valid B1/B2 visa but none of my family members have a visa on their passports.
Can I go with them for the interview.

No, you cannot enter with them for the interview.

Your wife will appear with your valid U.S. visa copy on your international passport and attend the interview with your kids stating the reasons they should be issued with entry visas. Nothing to worry about, it should be fine once they qualify for visas.

Best of luck!

Good afternoon all, a quick one here please. I seem to have forgotten the way round this (scratches head). I intend applying for a renewal of my B1/B2 Visa soon. I have all my previous US visas in my expired Nigeria passport (and I have not misplaced it too).

My travels to the US and other places this past one year plus were done on a new passport (combined with the old because of the visas in it). As a result of this new passport not carrying a US Visa (CBP stamps are on it though), expired or unexpired, FOR CLARIFICATION PURPOSE, should I then just schedule an appointment and go the one-on-one interview route or am I rather qualified for the Dropbox still as I have always done before (if yes, do I send in both passports or what)? Thanks....

LadyG, Seye, Nerf, Tzetzefly, Constance, 9jaStar, Kaptain, wey una? Make una chook mouth put for me....

You qualify for a Dropbox.

Enter the details of your new passport in the passport number column and submit both previous and new passport for clarification.

Dear VO,
I need your advice.I stay in canada, How can i renew my expired US visa, which was obtained with my old passport. Do i do dropbox or interview section.

Thanks for your quick response.

Steps required to apply for a US Visa

If required to apply for a Visa to travel to the United States the process includes the following steps:
1.Determine the type of Visa required to travel to the United States. Information about Visa types can be found at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en.html

2.Complete the online visa application form, DS-160. The DS-160 is a U.S. Government on-line form and can only be completed at https://ceac.state.gov/CEAC/ Each applicant must complete this form before using any services on this website.

3.Return to this website and complete the following application steps to schedule a Consular Section appointment:
a.Create a user account
b.Enter the DS-160 confirmation number for each applicant applying for a Visa
c.Complete the courier document return process
d.Pay the Nonimmigrant Visa (MRV) application fee(s)
e.Schedule a Consular Section appointment

4.Attend the Consular Section appointment.

5.After your interview, please follow specific instructions provided by the consular section or check this website for visa status and delivery information.

Note: Applicants of a certain age group or those who are renewing a previous U.S. visa may be eligible to apply for a visa without attending a Consular interview. Eligibility for the “Interview Waived” program will be determined as the applicant goes through the process of scheduling an appointment through this site. The determination will be made based on the answers provided to the qualifying criteria.

Hello guys, please i really need your help right now. Am really sad o.. my sister, her child and her hubby applied for a visa to US but was denied. This is the transcript, kindly vet and analyze, thanks.

V.O-- where are you going?
Wife-- kansas
V.O-- where do you work?
Hubby-- nnpc
Wife-- fashion designing
V.O-- your visa is denied.

That was all o. If u need any additional info so as to help please kindly ask... Thanks as us help out o

An outcome such as this could be due to several factors known to the applicants and the CO who conducted their interview. This could be that:

1, Their travel itinerary does not conform to the required norm of a visitor who has plans to return back to their country.

2, There was no cogent plan as to why they intended to travel.

3, What was the nature of their intended visit to Kansas and was this reason consistent with what Kansas is known to offer.

4, Do they have families in the States with records of previous visa violations?

5, Are the applicants really certain that they are who they say they really are?

Pleasant Morning My people. Please advice me on this. I have applied for US visa 3times whilst I was not married, 2 student visa and 1 visitors visa in the space of 4years, all denied. Now am married with a son, my wife has also applied for US visitors visa 3times (2times when she was single and 1time when she was married/pregnant) Now we are married and have a son together, my wife's family all live in the US, Her Father, step Mother, and 4 step siblings all with the same surname with my wife's maiden name, now we intend applying for family visit in summer 2017 as my wife's sister is getting married there in the US, which we have been sent an invite, What is the chance of getting this visa? Any specific way to get the visa? Will I fill 3 different Ds160 form for the 3 of us? Will I pay for 3 US visa fee? Booking appointment for the 3 of us, how will I go about it to be able to visit the VO/embassy as a family.

You're probably applying for the wrong visa category. Since you claim your wife has her family in the States, the reasonable visa category for you is Immigrant Visa.

This shouldn't pose a problem except for the wait time or one or most of her family members went through shortcuts to secure their residence and or Greencard which means the negative effect could still rub on your application.

If the initial error was not in previous misrepresentation either from you or your spouse you could still apply, taking all these into consideration.

i once applied for US f1 visa last year, bt was rfused because i applied for an associate degree with a private college .....
late last year.... i travelled to UK, and will be back home soon.... i really dont have interest in schooling in US anymore for now.... because i have other colleges in UK at mind
#The question is.... now am planning to apply for a visit visa with my dad, dad has valid US visa, whole lots of travel records,....please do you think i will have a chance.....because of my last refusal

Your reasons for travel and a suitable tie to your home country is necessary as well as other variables open to the CO. All these will enable the CO make a decision regarding your case.

Hello house, I applied for a non immigrant visa with my dad earlier this week, his visa was approved and mine was not on the grounds that I was not qualified at that time. I was to take my dad on this trip to visit my sister and her family and for my dad to rest for a while. He is a traditional ruler (Eze) and is almost 80 years. Now due to his age and frail health condition, he cannot embark on the trip alone. Please what do we do in this scenario? We are thinking maybe I should reapply because I am the only person available to help him travel now. I'm 37, married with two kids and they are not traveling with me. The VO never asked if I'm married or have any kids but asked me about the places I have been to, what I went there to do and my job. I answered him all honestly yet he said I was not qualified. I have been to Russia and Malaysia both on study purposes and my current passport was issued in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. I work with a government development agency and the VO said but I'm not working with any of the things studied.

The wait time to reapply after an initial refusal is 90days. This is the minimum period to have a change in circumstance.

Good day @ladyguinivere @all, greetings and pls I need your advice.

I plan to honestly visit my only surviving uncle in the US (Maryland) who is sick and on dialysis but I don't know how to go about my application due to some points.

1. I am a 29 year old single medical doctor working in Saudi Arabia (legal resident) but on a 2months holiday in Nigeria till February. I have visited UK, brazil, South Africa and Nepal all for Medical Conferences and never broke any law. My worry here is how to demonstrate ties to Nigeria as I want to apply from Nigeria since I am on vacation here. Is this possible and allowed

2. I don't know my chances if I apply from Saudi Arabia as there have been worrying concerns about Saudi due to terrorism and security threat, Infact my UK renewal a few months ago for a sept conference was denied on very flimsy excuses. (I think the western world are very careful about them now for political reasons)

Each application is treated on its own merit. The CO will assess your application as it relates to security of the States, job profile, reasons for visit, place of residence; and solid ties you have at your place of application, basing these on any likely immigrant intent.

Once you have doubts in one or more of these variables especially on security, you must know that your application can be administratively reviewed.

I tire. As a US PR, i still have to apply for Schengen visas. I only appeared once to give fingerprints. The last time, i simply mailed in my passport and the visas are approved with no problems. No begging, no prayers, no need for fasting, no need to practice interview answers. They simply mail you the passport with the stamped visa... no celebrations, congratulations or anything of the sort. Its simply a visa, not an extension of life. We are treated very poorly at foreign embassies because they know we are desperate, poor, dishonest and incompetent!

We don't have to be so denigrate in our speech and assessment. Past experiences has made it problematic making positive judgement on genuine applicants. What is necessary is for would-be applicants to be constructive and organised before & during interviews this helps in a lot of ways.

I didn't refuse to disclose I was pregnant, she only asked where I work and what I do for my coy and what I did while working in US. She kept my passport aside and turned to my husband. I wasn't ask and she wasn't interested in me. My coy is sending me for a training and we wanted to do a week honeymoon that was why my husband was accompanying me. My training is in Dec and will be back Dec. I am due next year March. Why should I lie with the kind of record I have?

You should proceed for your training as stipulated. It is a training for you and not a social visit. Your husband choose a wrong time to accompany you.

Your spouse need to come clean on his previous refusal as he probably needs a lot to clear with the CO.

And note that each applicant is treated separately irrespective of relationship and ties at the time of interview. One can be refused while the other(s) issued visa as was peculiar in your case.

My advise, he should avoid the U.S. for now let him take his vacation with you elsewhere.

After a little while say (2-3 years), he can reapply explaining on his DS-160 what sort of misrepresentation he got involved in previously and he must be ready to show genuine remorse when interviewed. While also willing to state what has really changed in his social and economic ties.

Please, stop wasting funds!

Good morning all

My friend pasaport will expire on the March and she wants to travel to US for christmas holiday. (9days) Her interview is net oct. Since her passport expiring date is near, will it affect her?

I assume you mean March 2017 and if so, she can proceed with the passport for her interview. However if she gets issued visa, she has to renew her passport before her December 2016 travel date.

Because travel document must be valid for six(6) months beyond her departure date from the U.S.

I understand some people's grievances making payment for a service and not getting returns as the case may be.

But make no mistake about this before we go all out at each other's throat so to say, getting your application approved for a U.S. visa is one of the easiest and overly straight forward application you can ever imagine.

All you require is a holistic assessment of your current economic situation in your home country. You need to truthfully make an assessment and not be biased.

NOTE: Once you're skeptical about your chance at an interview, then you should know that this is an indication you might be refused.

Having an income of six or seven digits monthly, never transcends to qualifying for a visa approval as some applicants think. Your reason for travel and overall assessment of your economic, social and family ties counts in final outcome either leading to an Administrative Processing (for few lucky ones), or an Outright Issuance (for the privileged/favoured few).

Previous travel history can help sway an application in one's favour only in certain circumstances and not applicable to all applicants as some people think.

Above all, we must remember that there has always been a clause (visa fee payment is non refundable even after a refusal) and no one has ever been forced to cough out visa application fee as the case may be (if you can afford a trip, why bother about a visa fee (fraction of the overall cost of a trip).

Once your application is refused, it means you're not qualified at the time irrespective of your assumed economic status then. This means you have not been able to convince a CO of your non immigrant intent or otherwise in the few minutes allotted to you.

Mind you, the CO do not have any knowledge about your person before this interview, he/she only base his/her judgement on your profile, which you entered yourself while filling the DS-160.

So if in 2 minutes or less you cannot explain or introduce yourself, how can you blame a CO for denying your application.

It is better to state your current case as it is, than padding your status and subsequently be busted through further investigations by the Embassy /Consulate.

Not everyone is lucky, be warned!

3, how much of immigration information do usa and canada share, can someone who overstayed with aduro in canada be immidiately known at the embassy even without using same passport.

Not trying to burst your bubble, your details are so contained in the Dept of State database.

Why your age changed overtime is something that will raise a lot of questions need answering.

Every visa has the word 'Annotation ' on it.
That is where an anotation is placed if need be. If they do, they inscribe something like ' must travel in the company of abc'. I have seen such a scenario.
On the left side of every visa, beside the picture, yul see
Entries
M (for multiple) then
Annotation
Blank (this is there they type any specific anotation)
If its blank then its cool.I cropped mine and attached

But she still has to visit the States or Minnesota in company of her MD as the case may be.

Now my question is this, I intend to renew my b1/b2 visa to visit a cousin in the us, please in your opinion what do you think I need to worry about, also am eligible for renewal through dropbox? I look forward to reading from you

Aside from prior travel history which is just a factor that doesn't give a final outcome to visa rejection, you as an applicant already made this rejection an easy cake for the CO.

A simple question(s) often asked:
>>Why are you going to the States?
>>Where do you intend to visit in the States?

This is your chance to make a first impression. But often time, applicants still give vague replies. As the situation is in your case.

Your purpose for travel is not clear. Even the fact that you have family member(s) in the U.S. is the more reason you must be clear with a desire for travel.

Give it some time and apply in future.
