OmoBendel24: Nice to know that the thread is manned by very capable hands as it were. Seyewest, Juswise, Madam LadyG, Omobendel24 among others. I will state here that you guys have been doing a very good job on this forum even despite your tight schedules I presume. HOWEVER AN ADVISE TO PROSPECTIVE APPLICANTS: I must state that if an applicant does not have a genuine reason(s) to travel to the States, please do not waste your precious funds on visa fees not to mention the resultant negative psychological devastation. The reform in immigration process is very real not just at the Embassy/ Consulate, but at the Point of Entry. A word of caution please! Attached is an entry stamp of a traveller to Atlanta. Have a nice day!

endyendy1: No, you cannot enter with them for the interview. Your wife will appear with your valid U.S. visa copy on your international passport and attend the interview with your kids stating the reasons they should be issued with entry visas. Nothing to worry about, it should be fine once they qualify for visas. Best of luck! |

DaBlaize: An outcome such as this could be due to several factors known to the applicants and the CO who conducted their interview. This could be that: 1, Their travel itinerary does not conform to the required norm of a visitor who has plans to return back to their country. 2, There was no cogent plan as to why they intended to travel. 3, What was the nature of their intended visit to Kansas and was this reason consistent with what Kansas is known to offer. 4, Do they have families in the States with records of previous visa violations? 5, Are the applicants really certain that they are who they say they really are? 1 Like |

kolawoleoladipo: You're probably applying for the wrong visa category. Since you claim your wife has her family in the States, the reasonable visa category for you is Immigrant Visa. This shouldn't pose a problem except for the wait time or one or most of her family members went through shortcuts to secure their residence and or Greencard which means the negative effect could still rub on your application. If the initial error was not in previous misrepresentation either from you or your spouse you could still apply, taking all these into consideration. |

esosa4real: Each application is treated on its own merit. The CO will assess your application as it relates to security of the States, job profile, reasons for visit, place of residence; and solid ties you have at your place of application, basing these on any likely immigrant intent. Once you have doubts in one or more of these variables especially on security, you must know that your application can be administratively reviewed. |

TWoods: We don't have to be so denigrate in our speech and assessment. Past experiences has made it problematic making positive judgement on genuine applicants. What is necessary is for would-be applicants to be constructive and organised before & during interviews this helps in a lot of ways. 3 Likes |

SexySan: You should proceed for your training as stipulated. It is a training for you and not a social visit. Your husband choose a wrong time to accompany you. Your spouse need to come clean on his previous refusal as he probably needs a lot to clear with the CO. And note that each applicant is treated separately irrespective of relationship and ties at the time of interview. One can be refused while the other(s) issued visa as was peculiar in your case. My advise, he should avoid the U.S. for now let him take his vacation with you elsewhere. After a little while say (2-3 years), he can reapply explaining on his DS-160 what sort of misrepresentation he got involved in previously and he must be ready to show genuine remorse when interviewed. While also willing to state what has really changed in his social and economic ties. Please, stop wasting funds! 5 Likes |

zuraking: I assume you mean March 2017 and if so, she can proceed with the passport for her interview. However if she gets issued visa, she has to renew her passport before her December 2016 travel date. Because travel document must be valid for six(6) months beyond her departure date from the U.S. 2 Likes |

I understand some people's grievances making payment for a service and not getting returns as the case may be. But make no mistake about this before we go all out at each other's throat so to say, getting your application approved for a U.S. visa is one of the easiest and overly straight forward application you can ever imagine. All you require is a holistic assessment of your current economic situation in your home country. You need to truthfully make an assessment and not be biased. NOTE: Once you're skeptical about your chance at an interview, then you should know that this is an indication you might be refused. Having an income of six or seven digits monthly, never transcends to qualifying for a visa approval as some applicants think. Your reason for travel and overall assessment of your economic, social and family ties counts in final outcome either leading to an Administrative Processing (for few lucky ones), or an Outright Issuance (for the privileged/favoured few). Previous travel history can help sway an application in one's favour only in certain circumstances and not applicable to all applicants as some people think. Above all, we must remember that there has always been a clause (visa fee payment is non refundable even after a refusal) and no one has ever been forced to cough out visa application fee as the case may be (if you can afford a trip, why bother about a visa fee (fraction of the overall cost of a trip). Once your application is refused, it means you're not qualified at the time irrespective of your assumed economic status then. This means you have not been able to convince a CO of your non immigrant intent or otherwise in the few minutes allotted to you. Mind you, the CO do not have any knowledge about your person before this interview, he/she only base his/her judgement on your profile, which you entered yourself while filling the DS-160. So if in 2 minutes or less you cannot explain or introduce yourself, how can you blame a CO for denying your application. It is better to state your current case as it is, than padding your status and subsequently be busted through further investigations by the Embassy /Consulate. Not everyone is lucky, be warned! 6 Likes |

Phemorinho: Aside from prior travel history which is just a factor that doesn't give a final outcome to visa rejection, you as an applicant already made this rejection an easy cake for the CO. A simple question(s) often asked: >>Why are you going to the States? >>Where do you intend to visit in the States? This is your chance to make a first impression. But often time, applicants still give vague replies. As the situation is in your case. Your purpose for travel is not clear. Even the fact that you have family member(s) in the U.S. is the more reason you must be clear with a desire for travel. Give it some time and apply in future. 2 Likes |
