Family / Should Parents Barge Into Their Children's Rooms? by uaphorism(m): 5:42pm On Feb 24, 2015 |
So, I went home to visit my folks on Sunday. Went to my room and discovered the bolts to it have been taken off . I shrugged and settled in. Took the precaution of using an old pair of boxers as a sort of hook for the door to avoid someone barging in on me while I'm having my alone time which I observe nekkid.. Well, today while observing my alone time, earphones in my ear listening to Bon Jovi's, 'It Is My Life', I observed my door was being pushed; before I could get a cover cloth, my dad just bust into the room I just lay there like roast chicken pretending to be oblivious of his presence.. Next, he tapped me and said, 'what are you doing? I replied, 'you shouldn't have barged in like that'.. he immediately went into a tirade of how it's his house and how he can damn well enter anywhere he wants to.. I simply packed my stuff and went back to base. Anyway, my question is, should parents bust into their children's rooms, yes, even in their own house? |
Romance / Is Beauty Really Subjective (in The Eye Of The Beholder)? by uaphorism(m): 7:04pm On Jan 02, 2015 |
Many a time, we hear people use hackneyed expressions, eg, 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder', 'one man's meat is another's poison' but is that really the case? Does your preference for light skinned ladies make Tiwa Savage ugly? Or, Agbani Darego ugly because you prefer ladies like Omotola? Personally I feel that there's objective beauty.. A standard.. Something everyone appreciates irrespective of preference. For example, I'm very dark skinned, hence an inherent attraction to light skinned ladies. It however won't make me term Tiwa ugly. Beauty is objective, attraction however is Subjective.. Any thoughts? |

Family / Could '4:30 Eyes' Be Hereditary? by uaphorism(m): 7:56am On Dec 31, 2013 |
A friend of mine, has found someone he wishes to get married to.. Infact, he has engaged her..the only snag here is, the lady in question is 'cross-eyed' that is she has the '4:30 eyes'.. This dude isn't struggling at all, as a matter of fact, he's handsome, tall, wealthy, bla bla bla..however, this girl meets his every standards and he has decided to tie the knot with her.. His only palaver is if the ish could be transferred to his children.. I told him that if his wife-to-be with her 'cross eye' could get a good man to marry, then his children have no problem..he should simply give em proper training.. What do you guys think? 1 Like |

Romance / Why Do Ladies Find It Difficult To Get 'serious' With Their Friends by uaphorism(m): 10:41am On Nov 22, 2013 |
The whole 'friend zone' thing has become kinda an anthem for boys these days.. Its actually very sad, a boy meets a girl or a boy (depending on his se.x.ual inclinations) and because he decides to respect her and not make a move - like kiss her on the very night of their first date, the boy is termed as 'sweet' by the girl and summarily relegated to the 'friend zone'.. Now, I really don't understand the workings of a girl's thought processes, but I like to think that as a sane human, entering into a meaningful relationship with someone that is your friend, you know, someone you trust to the point of sharing your heart's deepest secrets with, will mean a more solid, longer lasting relationship, as the foundation is already laid..foundation of understanding, care, complete knowledge of the other person's likes and dislikes and all that... The ladies always say, the 'sex' changes everything..infact, the latest I heard is, the 'title' changes everything - the title, girlfriend.. Ladies, over to you, why do you prefer a butt-spanking-on-a-first-date nigga to one that will wait till he understands you before making a move? |
Nairaland / General / Re: Is Destiny Predetermined? by uaphorism(m): 1:39pm On Oct 26, 2013 |
Frankly, the subject of predestination is a very touchy one..from the religious perspective, if indeed, predestination is, then God is cruel..because, in the end, no matter what u do, if you're gonna go to hell, assuming it exists, you'll still end up there and if you're gonna go to heaven..no matter how badly you live, you'll reach heaven..prolly, your death will be such that you'll be able to mutter 'Lord remember me in your kingdom' like the thief on the cross before you take your last breath.. However, if, predestination, isnt, then many portions in scriptures instantly become a contradiction. How's that? Well, the Bible says, 'I know the thots I have for you......to give you an expected end'..moreover, it begs the question, is God omniscient?? If he is, and he knew all a person's actions will culminate in d person landing in hell, why let him come to earth? I mean He says He's not willing that any should perish.. Infact, it is just confusing.. I prefer to rather not engage my brains in that thought..it never yields any result.. |

Health / Workouts And Its Effect On The Male Organ by uaphorism(m): 2:08pm On Oct 22, 2013 |
I just finished an intensive work out and for the first time since I started working out, I just paused to check out my 'thing'..lo and behold, I couldn't even recognise it.. It made me remember some years back when I had business to do in Ogoja, Crossriver State and the order of the day then was the theft of the male private part, infact, one of my friends had his own stolen, we had to call a pastor.. Thing is, the organ doesnt disappear..it just shrinks to the size of a baby's.. Then, when someone was caught after taking another person's organ, he confessed in the police station after being rescued from the mob that almost killed him to being sent by an Alhaji for a fee of 75k.. The trick is that, he taps a person on the shoulder and thing goes straight to the Alhaji.. He couldn't even return it.. Anyway, on looking at mine, the pictures of my friend's baby size thingy came flooding back and if not for my altruistic nature.. I for shout die.. The thing however became normal shaa.. Does yours shrink like that too? Err, males only |
Religion / I'm Struggling With My Faith, Please Help by uaphorism(m): 4:47pm On Oct 18, 2013 |
Maybe its just a stage of life, maybe it'll pass and I'll outgrow it all..but lately, I find myself being skeptical about anything religious.. I mistakenly tune to a christian channel and I find the whole thing either extremely amusing or enormously annoying.. The clergy don't help matters at all, when they simply can not explain something, they tell you, you have to accept it by faith..or that the hidden things belong to God.. Now, those that claim to know how to make me lose my doubts, end up making statements and assumptions they can't use the scriptures to back up.. That is when you begin to hear stuff like, 'there was a gap between Gen 1:1 and 1:2', 'Adam MUST have given birth to other kids that Cain wz able to marry', 'God SEEMS to have created the other people that Cain said were going to kill him', 'the prophecy in Matt 26:9 was through Zachariah when it is clearly stated Jeremy'..etc The Bible is infallible as we're led to believe..there however are unexplainable mistakes.. Should we live our lives based on a book that states that it is complete and accurate, I mean, something inspired by God couldn't be inaccurate now.. Why soo many different conflicting doctrines?? With proofs from the Bible to lend them credence, which is false and which should we believe? Is He that was made a little lower than the angels, He that doesn't know of when the rapture will take place, is He equal with God the Father? Is there a place called hell for all sinners? So many conflicts.. Lastly, if I was born into a muslim home, will I still believe that Jesus is the only way? The billions of people convinced that their own religious tenets are the truth, will they all die and burn eternally in hell? Someone will tell me about the time of Noah..but then shouldn't God give a physical sign, something very glaring..to tell everyone that this or that is the right way? You tell me the supernatural happens in christianity but they happen in every other religion and there are even many other religions that lead better, morally upright lives than christians..christians may even be the worst people on earth.. I still however believe that there is a God, The First Cause, The Creator of everything seen and unseen.. |
