EraseTheDot: Hey, I didn't talk to you. Your name says how foolish you are. Imagine waking up to create an account called "Erase the dot." See the effect of hunger and poverty embellished with joblessness! Jordan Nwora is a bench warmer at an NBA champ team, not anyhow team. And I will say it again, Bam Adebayo is a flop! I only respect Victor Oladipo! And if any American says Jordan Nwora is also American because of his white mum, I will agree with him or her. After all, even Deandre Ayton of Phoenix Sun whose dad is Igbo, represents his mum's country, Bahamas. I'm not tribalistic and nepostic like most of you jobless lots on nairaland. 1 Like |

HEAVEN4444: We know him! He is the father of Milwaukee Bucks star, Jordan Nwora. Moreover, during his time, the basketball team was somewhat balanced in ethnicity. We had lot of Yorubas, Niger Deltans and Igbos. The American coach changed it coincidentally while trying to induct solely NBA players who pledged their allegiance to Nigeria. 16 out of Nigeria's 29 NBA players are Igbo, and almost half pledged their allegiance to Nigeria, that is why you see the Basketball team like that. Nothing like nepotism or tribalism! |

HEAVEN4444: Sorry bro, not everyone despise their mother and their identity. He will give his children Igbo middle-names or even first-names, just like one of my Yoruba friends here in PH whose mum is Igbo did. Now one of his child answers "Amarachukwu Adeoye." lMAO Moreover, his children are to be called "Antetokunpo." not "Adetokunbo." His name has been hellenized forever. That's what happens when you flee from a bad Country, you can do anything to gain another man's country citizenship. 1 Like |

Boudiccao: I'm not Yoruba. The fact is that I've never heard a Yoruba say "without Yorubas, Nigeria will be nothing!" They can say "Without Yoruba music, Nigerian music will be dead." But generalizing it is an insult to other ethnicities. Accept the fact that you Igbos brag a lot. It's the fact! 2 Likes |

HEAVEN4444: When he gives birth, they will also have Igbo names, so go and donate your tears. |

HEAVEN4444: Oh Jahlil Okafor is a bench warmer? Josh Okogie bench warmer? Even Miye Oni is a bench warmer? You're a clown! 1 Like |

HEAVEN4444: Though I'm not Igbo. Igbo is a heterogeneous ethnicity. In the South-easternmost part(Abia and Ebonyi) of Yoruba land where Antetokunpos mother is from. Matrineal lienage is considered, so go and chop sand. Antetokunpo is as much Yoruba as Igbo. When he visits Nigeria, he will visit both the South West and South East |

HEAVEN4444: Oga, this is the best Nigerian team. We should appreciate the fact that we have 8 NBA players in our team. They are a total of 29 NBA players eligible to play for Nigeria, and more than half who happen to be the best half have pledged their allegiance to other countries. From the Antetokunpos allegiance to Greece, to Ayton's allegiance to Bahamas, to Anunoby,Oladipo, Adebayo, and Okoro's allegiance to USA. 1 Like 1 Share |

MaziAlaye: Are you asking me? Go back to Nigeria-USA Pre Olympic exhibition thread. Go and see people say things like "Without Igbos, Nigeria is useless." WTF! As long as I'm concerned, every Southern tribe is instrumental to Nigeria's achievements in sports, and development. No one is useless! When you say things like this, then you expect people to like you? How will you feel if someone says "Without Yorubas, Nigeria is useless?" 1 Like |

HEAVEN4444: Stop making noise bro. The man who led that team to glory is "Giannis Sina Ugo "Ugochukwu" Antetokunpo" a man born of Yoruba father and an Igbo mother. Moreover, Jordan Nwora has the record of scoring the most points for Nigeria at the Olympics in his young career! And I'll say it again, Bam Adebayo is overrated. I will agree with you on Victor Oladipo, I like him! |
![]() |
HEAVEN4444: Mumu. I can see you're catching some fun |
![]() |
HEAVEN4444: That you're playing for USA does not make you good. Both Bam Adebayo and Victor Oladipo who pledged their allegiance to another country, do not have what our own Jordan Nwora has. He has an NBA title to his name! 1 Like |

MaziAlaye: Bro, tbh, that's you people problem! You brag a lot! Though I don't support anybody castigating Igbos due to Igbos immense contribution in Nigerian sports from Ifeajuna to Ajunwa to Papilo, etc. Why should you even be mentioning ethnicities? The Nigerian table tennis team dominated by Yorubas crashed out of this same Olympics, yet did you see anybody insult Yorubas? No! Because they didn't brag beforehand. Bragging is foolishness! 4 Likes |

HEAVEN4444: See clown! Which Bam Adebayo and Victor Oladipo are you talking about? Only Giannis Antetokunpo is worthy to be mentioned, and he is also Igbo as well as Yorubas |

Limassol: That's true! I will say it's a coincidence not anything most people are thinking |
![]() |
Newton85: Tbh, I know all Nigerian ethnic groups well to infer this. If it was Yoruba that dominated this team or any Southern tribe, Igbos wouldn't have spoken any ill. But if it was the Hausa-Fulani, then it will be war! 1 Like |

lanocfoods: There are about 6 Yorubas in the NBA, only four have pledged their allegiance to another country. Miye Oni pledged his to Nigeria, Semi Ojeleye is yet to, I think 3 Likes |

anigbajumo: Firts of all, the coach is not a Nigerian talkless of Igbo. Secondly, the players there are there because they are the only Nigerian NBA players to have pledged allegiance to Nigeria. Thirdly, both Ajuwon and Haruna Quadri are out of contention to win a medal. About three Yoruba athletes have lost this Olympics including Funke Oshonaike but I didn't see anyone castigating anybody. Only a foolish and tribalistic person will do that. 4 Likes |

Julianaa: The fact is that most of them don't play in the USA Women's League(WNBA). The only person in D'Tigress playing in the WNBA is Erica Ogwumike. Nigerians in the WNBA(USA Women's League) such as Kristine Anigwe, Arike Ogunbowale, Nneka Ogwumike, Liz Cambage, Michaela Onyenwere, and Chinenye Ogwumike are either barred to play for Nigeria or aren't even thinking of playing for Nigeria. It's our boys that have a lot of players who play in the USA League, most of the D'Tigresses play in funny leagues like Mozambique League, Chinese League, etc, so I don't really blame them. 4 Likes |

haslaw: You are a clown. The team is chosen based on players in well structured basketball leagues. In the worlds' largest and most sophisticated basketball league- the NBA, there are 29 Nigerians, and only 1 is a Muslim. Fortunately, that one is included in the Nigerian Basketball Team, so what are you saying? This is the full list of Nigerians in the NBA including those playing for other countries, and their religion, now count the Muslims and see if they are substantial: 1. Chuma Okeke (Christian) 2. Giannis Antetokunpo(Christian) 3. Thannis Antetokunpo(Christian) 4. David Nwaba(Christian) 5. Victor Oladipo(Christian) 6. Deandre Chidike Ayton(Christian) 7. Bam Adebayo(Christian) 8. Jahlil Okafor(Christian) 9. KZ Okpala(Christian) 10.Andre Igoudala(Christian) 11. Gabe Nnamdi Vincent(Christian) 12. Precious Achiuwa(Christian) 13. Jordan Nwora(Christian) 14. Udoka Azubuike(Christian) 15. Chimezie Metu(Christian) 16. Zeke Nnaji(Christian) 17. Isaac Okoro(Christian) 18. Onyeka Okongwu(Christian) 19. Desmond Edidem Bane(Christian) 20. Josh Okogie(Christian) 21. Jeff Akhigbe Green(Christian) 22. Miye Oni(Christian) 23. OG Anunoby(Christian) 24. Al Farouq-Aminu(Muslim) 25. Wes Iwundu(Christian) 26. Daniel Oturu(Christian) 27. Kostas Antetokunpo(Christian) 28. Semi Ojeleye(Christian) 29. Ike Anigbogu(Christian) So after seeing this list, if you are the coach and you want the best for your team, will you leave all these even-more talented Christians for only one Muslim? Is it only the Muslim that will play a match? 1 Like |

haslaw: I don't agree with your picture. Mike Brown was the person that selected, not Alex Nwora. When Alex Nwora was the coach, Igbos were not as much as they are now in the team. |

gare: He may be speaking the truth. But my question is why didn't he mention the specific Igboid group enslaved by the Binis? Why was he scared? |

gare: Reno is a mad man. He was trying to deface we the Ikwerres and Aniomas. If he had the balls, why didn't he mention the ethnic nationality? He just hid under the Igbo umbrella despite the fact that we've told him times without number that we Ikwerres are not part of the Bia Hegemony. We all know the Igboid tribe that inhabits Delta State, so he should stop hiding and be a man. |

Kinzo0917: U no go eva understand. Igbo itself is a meta-ethnicity. The Igbo identity just sprung up in the 1900's unlike Hausa identity which has existed for centuries. An Igbo man from Abiriba in Abia State is culturally and linguistically different from an Igbo man in Oba, Anambra State. It would interest you to know that an Abiriba man is more related and connected to the Efik-Ibibios of Akwa Ibom than his "so-called" Igbo brothers in Anambra or Imo. While the Oba man is more related to the Igalas of Kogi state than his "so-called" Igbo brothers in Abia or Ebonyi State. That is why you see all these skirmishes. I don't blame Igbo people Sha, they are too different from each other and they know this. 1 Like 1 Share |

mapet: Your question is preposterous. Which basketball club in Africa apart from Rivers Hoopers has won something valuable? Yes, Igbos dominate D'Tigers and D'Tigress, because there are more Igbos playing basketball, not because they have the best talents. Having the best talents is more of a subjective assertion. Talent is inherent in specific individuals, not heterogeneous ethnicities. 2 Likes |
