Phones / Re: The Itel A70: Delivering Value Without The Big Price by Uchechiokpara39: 5:39pm On Apr 15
After just completed the purchase of my new phone.... I just saw another phone I maybe interested in.

OreNubian:
We’ve all been there – you’re ready for an upgrade, but every new phone seems way out of your budget. You start looking at more affordable options but wonder if you’ll have to compromise on performance or features. Well, put those worries to rest because the itel A70 is about to change your mind on what a “budget” phone can do.

This little powerhouse packs a surprising punch for the price. Under the hood is a robust quad-core processor and plenty of RAM to keep multiple apps running smoothly. Whether you’re browsing social media, streaming movies, or playing intensive games, the A70 handles it all without skipping a beat. The generous amounts of storage means you can download to your heart’s content without running out of space, too.

Battery life is seriously impressive, too. With its high-capacity battery, the itel A70 will outlast most other phones I’ve used. Even on the days when I spend hours scrolling through feeds and watching videos, I’ve never come close to running out of battery before the day is through. My partner is always rushing to find a charger by mid-afternoon, but the A70 just keeps chugging along.

Photography is another area where the itel A70 stands out from the rest. It’s dual rear camera setup and portrait mode, which means your selfies and memories look sharper and clearer. The level of detail captured always surprises me, considering this phone’s price point. With lighting and scene recognition features, casual photographers can achieve DSLR-level shots without busting their budget.

Compared to phones that are similar in price, the A70 is a clear champion. The Redmi A3 feels sluggish when compared to intense games or when multiple apps are loaded simultaneously. While its stats sheet seems more robust, it really needs help to perform as well as the itel in my day-to-day use.

Phones / Re: Honest Truth About The Redmi Note 13 Pro Camera Specifications by Uchechiokpara39: 5:03pm On Mar 08
Not sure we suppose agree anything this year.

Oremelody:
Smartphone manufacturers are always looking to tantalize consumers with the latest and greatest specifications for their upcoming devices. However, there is a risk of overpromising capabilities that may not be possible given the underlying hardware. If unchecked, spreading misinformation about so-called flagship features could seriously damage a brand's reputation for transparency.

One such example appears to be unfolding with Redmi's recently announced Note 13 Pro. While an impressive smartphone on paper, one element of its early marketing raises doubts. An examination of the facts reveals this flashy specification may have been too good to be true from the start. But was it simply an honest mistake, or something more deliberate? Join us as we take a deeper look at the facts behind Redmi's questionable 200MP camera claim.

Redmi recently announced their new Note 13 Pro smartphone and claimed it has a whopping 200MP ultra clear camera. This news spread like wildfire across tech sites and forums. However, upon closer inspection it became clear that this 200MP claim was not quite accurate.

In this article, I will explain why the Mediatek Helio G99 Ultra chip that powers the Note 13 Pro is incapable of supporting a 200MP camera. I will discuss the technical limitations of this chipset and prove that Redmi misrepresented the device's true camera specifications on their website.

The Mediatek Helio G99 Ultra Can Only Support Up To 108MP

When analyzing the specs of the Mediatek Helio G99 Ultra chip, it's clear that the highest resolution camera sensor it can accommodate is 108MP. This SoC (system on chip) features an G99 processor which has a maximum pixel resolution of 108MP.

Chipmakers like Mediatek specify the pixel limits of their ISPs, so smartphone manufacturers design their cameras accordingly. No phone using a G99 Ultra can break the 108MP barrier. Redmi claiming 200MP would require their chip to suddenly gain capabilities it simply does not have.

Redmi's Website Misled Consumers with Inaccurate Specs

It's very concerning that Redmi listed a non-existent 200MP main camera on their Note 13 Pro product page. Either their marketing team provided incorrect information to their web developers, or it was a deliberate attempt to attract buyers with misleading specs.

Either way, consumers browsing Redmi's site were given false expectations about the device's camera that are simply not possible based on its components. This violates customer trust and casts doubt on Redmi's credibility when advertising future devices.

In fact, through more detailed testing, we can even find that the unreasonable combination of 200M and chips has negative impact on the clarity of the image, making the clarity of 200M even worse than 108M and 50M phones in the same price range, then it affects of digital zoom is also significantly worse. “HIGH parameters” with “LOW experience”, this type of product sets bad example in the smartphone market.

FAQs about the Note 13 Pro Camera Controversy
Did Redmi acknowledge spreading false specs about the 200MP camera?
So far Redmi has not commented on or corrected their website claiming a 200MP sensor. They continue listing it without addressing growing evidence this is technically impossible.

What is the actual highest resolution camera the Note 13 Pro can have?
Based on the Mediatek Helio G99 Ultra's 108MP ISP limit, the maximum viable main camera resolution for the Note 13 Pro is 108MP. Anything higher like the stated 200MP is simply not feasible.

Should consumers doubt other Note 13 Pro specs listed on Redmi's site?
It's reasonable for buyers to approach other specs advertised for the Note 13 Pro with healthy skepticism until they can be independently verified. Redmi's inaccuracy with the camera raises questions about their vetting of published technical details.

Final Thoughts
In summary, Redmi needs to be transparent with consumers about misleading them regarding the Note 13 Pro's camera. Listing a 200MP sensor that the chipset does not and cannot support damages confidence in the brand.

Technical analysts have proven Mediatek's G99 Ultra only supports up to 108MP, so Redmi's higher claim is false marketing. They owe phone-buyers an explanation for publishing inaccurate specs that misrepresent the product's true capabilities.

Going forward, Redmi must take more care to ensure all details published about their devices are fully honest and validated representations of the hardware. This controversy shows they still have progress to make in responsible product marketing practices.

Phones / Re: TECNO Sold More Smartphones In Africa Than Apple And Samsung In 2023 -business I by Uchechiokpara39: 11:15am On Mar 06
Fact...

As the economy is for the past years... People can afford TECNO phones more than any other brand.

They already started doing luxury phones. Also for high class earners. What more can we ask in these country?

Realboygenius:
Transsion Holdings, manufacturer and maker of Tecno phones, has emerged as the leader of smartphone sales by volume in Africa, surpassing Samsung and Apple, according to a recent report.

The report by Hong Kong-based firm Counterpoint Research revealed that Tecno smartphone shipments grew by 77 per cent year on year in Q4 2023.

This growth helped Transsion surpass Samsung and Apple in sales across the Middle East and Africa for the first time.

According to the report, Tecno’s sales were primarily driven by smartphones priced around US$150. Some of these phones include models such as the Tecno Pop 7 and the Camon 20 Pro that have become popular with consumers.

The report also noted that Tecno had already surpassed Samsung in African sales since 2020, thanks to the successful launch of phone models in the lower price band and continued market spending.

Yang Wang, a senior analyst at Counterpoint Research, explained that the growth Transsion enjoyed in 2023 was as a result of the improved macroeconomic environment across most countries in the region.

Wang added that Tecno dominated the smartphone market with its continued investments in marketing and channel penetration, alongside ambitious plans to launch high-end smartphones such as foldables and flip phones, leading to increased visibility and credibility among audiences.

The report noted that Tecno, Infinix and iTel together accounted for 48 per cent of the smartphone market in Africa in 2023. Tecno's market share in 2023 was 26 per cent, while Infinix and iTel had 12 per cent and 10 per cent market shares, respectively.
