Some days ago, someone confided a picture with me and made me promise it won’t surface online, I agreed just to have a glimpse of it.

In the picture, a young boy about the age of ten. This boy had some stitches on the side of his face. From his beard line down to his chin, it was freshly stitched together. I felt sorry for the young guy and asked why he had such a massive wound in such a place.

“I got this picture from the Nurse who treated him and according to the Nurse, a neighbour brought him to be treated after the mother of the young boy used a razor blade to cut the boy so deeply in the face because he supposedly gave some goods from her sales to his friend.”
My stomach twitched at this statement “and his mother wasn’t responsible enough to take the child for proper treatment?”

“The neighbour said she had sworn over her dead body to not take care of the boy and despite the profuse bleeding, she left the boy all by himself in his pool of blood and in pains” She further explained as she closed her photo gallery.

There has been the belief that Child Domestic Abuse is only done by aunties, uncles, and ogas(those living as a maid with someone not related to them), but what we see now is the direct opposite of this.

A Mother beating her child to pulp and a Father beating his child to an unconscious state. That isn’t enough, some go far as using a hot pressing iron or a hot knife to discipline them leaving a wound that would turn into a large scar that will forever be visible.

Each parent was at a time a kid and maybe even experienced something near to that, it shouldn’t give them the effontry to carry on that negative imprint with a child.

It’s true that our culture and religion supports spanking a child, but there is a great difference between spanking and inflicting damage.
Imagine the incident with this young boy, as he is growing older, he gets to see the scar boldly carved out on his face and no amount of disguise can cover it up. He looks on at it every day and instead of feeling ‘sorry’ for his mom accusations, he will become resentful and arrogant.
What about the shame of having such a scar on his face amidst his peers?

What will he tell his children is the cause of the massive scar on their daddy’s face?
If ever he mentions grandma as the cause, how will those children see their grandma forever?

There is a place of discipline with every child. We don’t need to go overboard just to drive our points home to the young ones.
We don’t have to scar a child just so he would know his actions are wrong.

There are many books out there on children temperament and how to set a positive pace of discipline for children.
Children shouldn’t be insecure under their parents. They shouldn’t be insecure in anyway or place, but since the parents are the sole protector of a child’s right, every child should see their parents as safe havens.

Enough of having a dysfunctional adult all because they were broken as a child. We need a society were sanity and uprightness will be the main lifestyle in it.

No matter what your child does, always remember that you were once a child and you might have done worse than that.
Children are a responsibility put in our care by God. Someday He will ask how you managed the responsibility in your care. What would your response be?

A 35 year-old local bricklayer, identified as Achibong Koko has been arrested for allegedly defiling a five year old girl.
The suspect who resides next door from the victim’s home at Dansa in Abule Oshun area of Lagos, hails from Akwa-Ibom state of Nigeria and has strongly denied the accusations laid before him.
Achibong was arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command, Onireke Division; this was after the Divisional Police officer of the division received reports of the case.
During a press briefing on Wednesday, Edgal Imohimi, the state Commissioner of Police CP, said,
“Information was received by the Divisional Police Officer, Onireke division, that a five-year-old girl had been raped. A team of detectives was mobilised to the area, where the suspect, Achibong Koko, was arrested.”
“According to the mother of the victim, the daughter left her room while she was asleep.” She said, “The victim was taken to a hospital where a doctor carried out an examination. The examination report revealed that the hymen of the victim had been ruptured as a result of the defilement.”


However, Achibong who maintains that he had no hand in the little girl’s defilement had this to say:
“I did not do anything to the girl. I did not even see the girl that afternoon. I was sleeping in my neighbour’s house around 3pm when I heard a noise outside. My friend told me that people were looking for us outside.”
“They said the small girl had been defiled and that when they asked her who did it, she pointed at my room.”
“The girl pointed at me at home and in the station that I did it; I don’t know why. Maybe because we stay in the same compound.”
Contrary to the Suspects Defence, Umoru Hajara, the mother of the victim alleged that the suspect the suspect was very much responsible for the shameful act.
She said,
“I never knew she was no longer beside me. My aunt, who observed the way my daughter was walking, woke me up. When I saw her as well, I was forced to check her. I pulled down her pants and saw sperms on her body. I asked her who did it and she pointed to a particular room. When we got there, we didn’t meet anyone.”
“I went to report to the leader of my area, Alhaji Bello. But unknown to us, the suspect was in his friend’s room. Both of them were called out, and they asked my daughter who violated her. She pointed at him.”
Sadly, Another innocent child has fallen victim to such vile acts perpetrated by another member of the ‘Ignoble community’.

Nigeria, according to GirlsNotBrides, ranks 14th among the 20 countries with the highest rates of Child marriage.
I’d like to tell you a story but first, I’d like for us to fully comprehend this cringe-worthy term, ‘child marriage’.
Child marriage, siting Wikipedia, is a formal marriage or informal union entered into by an individual before reaching a certain age specified by some global organizations as high as the age of 18.


Now that that’s out of the way, let us explore the degrees of declivity accompanying this menace. And in this case, we’re looking at the terrifying dilemma suffered by victims of this horrible form of abuse; DEATH ROW.
From time immemorial, stories have begun with the clichè intro ‘Once upon a time’ and mine won’t be any different. Once upon a time, there was a 14-year-old girl from the northern region of Nigeria, called Wasila Tasi’u. She was a princess albeit sans blue blood flowing through her veins. The crown anatomy placed on her head by making her female was all she needed to be royalty in her own skin.


Quite unlike those fairytales we were told as kids; of how the princess found her Prince charming and lived happily ever after, Wasila was not that fortunate. Her happily ever after would unfortunately end with her being on death row.
Before I continue Wasila’s story, I’d like for you to take a trip down the foggy lanes of memory and remember what it was like to be 14. Do you feel a smile forming? Good for you but Wasila and other girls like her will never get to smile whenever they do same.
A 14 year old girl should be in SS1 or 8th grade according to some Western standards. A 14-year-old girl should have an ocean full of dreams and hopes. She should be watching high school drama and crushing on the blonde-haired, blue-eyed teenage boy band leader who all the girls swoon over whilst being oblivious of the fact that he’ll probably end up mopping floors at Starbucks. (No offence to Starbucks janitors)


The only affiliation a 14-year-old should have with the proverbial ‘Birds and the Bees’ should be as inconsequential as receiving cheesy love letters full of grammatical blunders from a boy in her class and MAYBE a few stolen kisses FROM BOYS HER AGE. Cringe at this and raise your brows as much as you want but what were you doing at 14? After all, I issued a disclaimer the moment I said ‘MAYBE’.

Unfortunately, this was not the case for my teenage subject Wasila. Her destiny was altered and her life sent to help the moment her parents decided to hand her over to 35-year-old cradle-robber, Umar Sani.
This child was enburdened with responsibilities even a 30-year-old might seem incapable to handle. We’ve seen gazillions of divorce cases in our society being undertaken by people twice or even thrice the age of little Wasila and some ‘genius’ decided that a 14-year-old should be allowed to shoulder the grueling task of being a wife.
Guessing the outcome of this foolery is not rocket science. Wasila bowed to Newton’s action-reaction law and she made a motion. Wasila killed her ‘husband’. How did she do it? She laced Umar’s food with rat poison and he breathed his last after choking the little child in a forced marriage.
Fate is quite a tricky mister as he unfortunately ensured three other ‘innocent’ men bit the dust with Umar. Why is the term innocent quoted? Because these men watched a minor being abused and did nothing to save her, so how innocent are they really?
It turns out the three ‘innocent’ men accompanied the Grim Reaper to pay Umar a visit and joined him in feasting on the poisoned meal. Collateral damage? Or simply the universe trying to send off a warning to supporters and enablers of child abuse and pedophilia, who sit quietly and watch innocence being robbed off poor minors.
Subsequently, Wasila was arrested and a High Court Judge rejected defence applications for the case to be transferred to a juvenile court and justice which was denied to the minor before she was shipped off to be mentally, emotionally and physically abused under the guise of marriage, deemed it fit to try her as an adult.


If found guilty, Wasila could face capital punishment-death row. The fact that this case even went this far is testament to the disgraceful justice system. They chose to ignore the glaring primary problem- the fact that A CHILD HAD BEEN ABUSED!!! Well, after months of investigations, trials and intervention from Human Rights Groups worldwide, the charges were dropped and Wasila was set free.
Not your typical tale by moonlight. Some may even argue that Wasila actually had a happy ending but I disagree. Yes, her exoneration was a good thing but still, her innocence, her dignity, her peace of mind had been snatched away from her in the cruelest of ways. The society that was supposed to protect her left her vulnerable to be abused and worse, in a legal institution called marriage. They took a victim and dragged her through further turmoil by branding her a ‘killer’ all around the world. Now they absolved her of her ‘crime’ and she’s supposed to be grateful?
This is more than Wasila, more than child brides in Northern Nigeria. This is about us. You and I. Every time we keep mum about a union between an adult and a minor, we constitute part of the problem.

A young man has expressed sadness as his life is being made unbearable to live by his ex girlfriend, and authorities are doing next to nothing to stop her.

According to an alleged statement by the man, released on twitter by one of his friends, with twitter ID -@saintava, his now ex-girlfriend -Aaliyah Holliday- cut him with a knife last October saying she had ‘marked him’.

The couple broke up and later got back together later in November, but the relationship became an abusive one. The victim claims Aaliyah started assaulting him incessantly. This progressed to the night of January 18, 2018, when Aaliyah raped him.





They broke up again in February this year and since then she’s been stalking and threatening him.

He has reported the case to Cornell University in Ithaca, New York but they have since not gone out of their way to treat the issue. After he reported, the girl began threatening his mother and his friends too.

She later sent him a mail asking him to drop the charges against her, else she and her roommates will declare war on him.



Many people do not handle breakups very well. Some might even display aggressiveness all because the fact that their partner broke up with them hurt their ego. Others just can’t handle the reality of being left alone by someone they once called their own -this causes them to act offensively. They become stalkers and abusers, start trying to force their exes to be with them again. Though this never works, they are too desperate to see it.

What do you do when you’re forced to face your worst fears? Who do you turn to for help when life as you know it, is being snuffed from under you? Who do you trust when the very people who are supposed to have your back suddenly turn against you and inflict the most grotesque form of brutality against you?

Such was the case of 17-year-old Japanese school girl, Junko Furuta who suffered over 40 days of unimaginable torture at the hands of her classmates before dying on January 4th, 1989. Junko’s nightmare began shortly after she rejected the school bully, Hiroshi Miyano.

Miyano proved he clearly wasn’t emotionally mature to handle rejection and instead, gave into depravity and sheer evil. Innocent Junko was abducted by 4 boys on Miyano’s orders and taken to the home of one of the kidnappers, Nobaharu Minato.

To forestall a manhunt, one of the boys coerced Furuta into calling her own parents and telling them that she had run away from home, but was with “ a friend ” and was not in danger. He also browbeat her into posing as one of the boys’ girlfriends when the parents of the house where she was held were around, but when it became clear that the parents would not call the police, he dropped this pretext.

Furuta tried to escape several times, begging Minato’s parents more than once to help her, but they did nothing, apparently out of fear that Miyano would hurt them. Miyano was at the time a low-level and had bragged that he could use his connections to kill anyone who interfered.

All in all, over 100 people knew of her abduction; none did anything to help, and several joined in the torture.

According to their statements in court, the four boys tortured Junko relentlessly, to such an extent that her face was so swollen she was virtually unrecognisable, she lost bladder control (and was beaten for wetting the carpet), and her body developed a rotting smell.

Nabih al-Wahsh, an Egyptian lawyer has reportedly raised series of controversy statements shortly after he declared publicly that “women who wear ripped jeans deserved to be raped”.

Nabih al-Wahsh was speaking during the Infirad Show, a current affairs talk show in Egypt hosted by Saeid Hasaseen.



Incredibly, Wahsh said it was part of the ‘national duty’ to rape women wearing such garments because they were “inviting men to harass them”. He also said that his view was even more valid if the jeans were ripped from the back, according to Al Arabiya. He said:

“Girls must respect themselves so others respect them. Protecting morals is more important than protecting borders.”

Brave female guests on the show attempted to fight back against Wahsh’s views after being outraged by his comments.

The debate was aired on October 19 on the Al-Assema satellite channel as guests discussed the country’s draft law fighting prostitution and debauchery.

Maya Mursi, Head of the National Council for Women’s Rights said the comments were a “flagrant call” for rape and violates ‘everything in the Egyptian constitution.

The council has now filed a complaint about the statement to the Supreme Council for Media Regulation.

But despite the backlash, Wahsh has refused to back down, and has even released an updated statement to another media website where he said ‘his daughter would also deserve that [rape, sexual harassment] if she decided to wear jeans that are ripped from the back’.

Special Anti-Robbery Squad popularly regarded by the Nigerian acronym as SARS have reportedly left a couple’s lives hanging by the thread as they allegedly opened fire on them for refusing to bribe them.

The brutal attack had taken place as the couple was stopped in the middle of the road somewhere along Bodija market, Ibadan.

According to an online post, the couple refused to tip the ‘overpowered’ Police sect and as a result, while they tried to park, the SARS operatives on duty opened fire on them at about 7:30pm.

The government has strict laws against immigrants, the media belittle them, we all have stereotypes about them-some are opined that immigrants take their jobs and build better houses than them, while others think that they constitute a nuisance, add to the criminal population and make life unbearable for them.

If there’s anything we’ve learned so far from stereotypes, it is that we can’t paint the whole populace with one brush.

An immigrant Bangladeshi florist has saved an Italian woman from a gang rape attempt at the hands of 25 drunk miscreants in the city of Florence, Italy.

Twenty-five year old photographer, Gaia Guarnotta who was accosted by the group of men at around 11:30pm on Wednesday, posted about 58-year-old florist, Hossein Alamgir’s selfless heroism on Facebook.

In the post, Guarnotta wrote: “I was walking alone on the street at 23.30. I like to walk, I love Florence and I love the night. Then the nightmare begins.”

She said a large group of men approached her at the time and first attempted to convince her to have sex with them by using profanity and saying such things as “Come on with us, let’s have fun, 25 against one, you will have a good night.”

When she refused their advances and attempted to flee, the men grabbed her by the arm and attempted to drag her to an unknown location, going so far as removing her glasses.

Rose seller, Hossein, on hearing the commotion, came to her rescue and chased the miscreants away. Not stopping there, he also gave her a towel to clean up and a rose as a present.

Guarnotta wrote, “Thank you to this world for there are people like Hossein, who help without wanting anything in return. This is a face I will never forget.”

Has this story of sheer kindness been able to debunk your stereotype that immigrants are monsters? The truth remains that there are good people in this world, just like there are horrible people. It is unfair to harbor hatred and malice for one race or the other simply because an unruly member of their country has committed a certain atrocity.

Kids are bullied in schools and called ‘Hussein or Osama’ simply because they are from the middle east, others, Hitler because they have German heritage. Nigerians in diaspora are looked upon as cyber criminals simply because of a few who have decided to take up the crime as their ‘profession’.

A good person is a good person irrespective of where they come from or what nationality’s blood they have flowing through their veins.

It has been heard more times than we can put a number to, about how religious leaders are accused of sexual misconduct and more often than not, the allegations turn out to be true.

We have seen cases of where prophets, pastors, imams etc have misused their privileges and positions as religious leaders to lure gullible females into sexual relationships with assurance of blessings from God or under the guise that they were sent from God. Some of these men use religion as an excuse to build a harem for themselves; take for example the infamous Charles Manson.

In cases where the victims have reservations or are unwilling to be deceived, these-according to OAP, Daddy Freeze- ‘Gods of men’ parading themselves as men of God, take to raping and sexually violating these females.

A few days ago, a former Salafist turned secular activist, Henda Ayari filed a rape and sexual assault complaint with the Rouen prosecutor’s office in northwest France against Swiss Islamist and Professor Tariq Ramadan.

The complaint detailed criminal acts of rape, sexual assault, violence, harassment and intimidation. The Liberators Association, which Henda Ayari is president of, said on Facebook that she was “a victim of something very serious several years ago” but did not reveal the name of her aggressor for safety reasons.

Ayari accused Ramadan of multiple counts of Rape, sexual assault, violence and intimidation. In her book “I chose to be free”, published in November 2016, she described her aggressor as Zubair. She said in her writings that she met him at his hotel in Paris after the Islamist thinker gave a lecture.

Ayari wrote, “I will not give precise details of the acts he has done to me. It is enough to know that he has benefited greatly from my weakness.”



She said in her book that when she rebelled against him at one point he screamed at her, insulted her, slapped her and treated her violently. “I confirm today, that the famous Zubair is Tariq Ramadan,” Ayari published on Facebook.

According to Jonas Haddad, Ayari’s lawyer, the plaintiff did not report the assault earlier, out of fear. “After revelations over the past few days of rape and sexual assaults claims in the media, Henda has decided to say what happened to her and take legal action.”

Ramadan, 55, is the grandson of the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood group in Egypt. He is a professor of contemporary Islamic studies at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. He has come publicly to deny all the allegations, however, Ayari is determined to continue with her suit.

I guess we’ll all just have to wait to see if this pans out like the others and the Islamic thinker is slammed with a guilty verdict or if the allegation is hogwash. It is only God that cam save women from the clutches of these demons masquerading as his servants.

In our society, stereotypes of the definition and description of both genders abound and many people do not feel they quite fit into the stereotype associated with their gender and feel caged trying to fit in.

Francisco Ferreira, 69. fatally stabbed his wife in their apartment on Sunday night, then jumped out the window and plunged eight stories to his death.

According to sources, Police came across the bloody scene on Frederick Douglass Blvd. at W. 141st St. just after 9:15 p.m., and found the man’s broken body in a parking lot outside.

When officers entered Francisco’s eighth-floor apartment, they found his wife, Bernarda, 53, bleeding from several stab wounds to her chest. They also found a knife at the scene.

Medics rushed Bernarda to Harlem Hospital where she gave up the ghost. Sources said she and her husband lived together, but she was trying to leave him.

One neighbor, who declined to give her name, said the couple was fighting moments before the apparent murder-suicide.

“They were arguing and then there was one loud scream from the woman. Then I heard what was the man’s body hit the ground,” she said. “It was a loud boom. I looked out the window and I knew he was dead.”

Neighbors said the couple had three daughters, and seemed happy. “When you’d see them together they were always smiling. They always said hi,” a neighbor said. “We’re shocked right now, just shocked. We would have never suspected something like this.”

Kwaseve Fagal, 38 has been arrested by the Nassarawa police command for murdering her newborn baby boy for money ritual in a bid to get out of poverty.

According to The Sun, Fagal revealed it was a decision she didn’t blink to take when a native doctor presented her with an alluring offer to make her rich overnight.

On August 14, Fagal who is a housewife was delivered of a baby boy in her home at Gakerko village, Keana Local Government area of Nasarawa State, but the joy of her husband, Paul Fagal, aged 40 was short-lived as she decided to kill the innocent child.

Though the couple, peasant farmers, earlier had two children in their 14 years of marriage, the arrival of the new baby lifted the drowning soul of his father who had been toiling over the years, albeit with difficulty, to fend for his family.

Unknowingly to Paul, his wife was desperate to live a life of affluence and riches. Acting on the instruction of a herbalist, she discreetly took the infant to a secluded area of the community shortly after birth and killed him. Then, she took his blood in a clay pot and dumped the remains in a nearby stream.

In a twist which was probably unexpected by the desperate woman, the sudden disappearance of her baby aroused apprehension in the community, amid suspicion that the mother from hell might have committed sacrilege.

After summoning all the women in the community for interrogation, a threat by the village head, Mathew Oloko, to further conduct orthodox and traditional probe into the incident, unveiled Kwaseve as the perpetrator of the dastardly act.

Fagal eventually led a search party to a stream where the decomposed body of the baby was recovered, but kept sealed lips on the motive for the act till she was arrested and taken away by the police.

However, in a chanced encounter with our correspondent at the Criminal Investigation Department of the Nasarawa State police command where she is in custody, she told a shocking tale of the circumstances that led her into killing her child to shake off the shackles of poverty.

She had been troubled over her husband’s inability to overcome poverty despite the fact that they toiled daily to make ends meet.

Rather than reprieve, the situation worsened to a point that putting food on the table became a difficult task. Sometimes, the family stayed for days without food, and despair set in.

Narrating her story, Fagal said, “Life became very difficult for my husband and I, to a point that having food daily became a problem, not to talk of catering for the two children we already had. The kids were not feeding well; we go hungry for days because we don’t have money to buy food.

A nail artist based in Houston, Texas, Ayanna Williams embraced inner explores of her mind 23 years ago by grooming what is now called the “world’s longest fingernails”, which has earned her a spot in the Guinness World Record 2018 Edition.

Her nails, each of which is just under two feet long, took 23 years to grow after she was inspired by a friend.



According to Ayanna, she would keep up with her idea and does not intend dropping the habit anytime soon.

Her extremely long fingernails has been agreed to take up to at least a week to paint and also poses some minor difficulties for her including pulling up her trousers…LOL!

In order to take care of her nails, Ayanna uses anti-bacterial soap and a nail brush to clean them daily. To help them grow, she regularly applies hardener and a thin layer of acrylic.

Hollywood royal couple, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are set to welcome their third child at the end of January via a surrogate mother.

The couple who are natural parents to daughter North,4 and son Saint, 21 months – are said to be ‘over the moon’ as they prepared to expand their family.

A TMZ report claims that the duo paid $45,000 to the surrogate, who is apparently doing well as her pregnancy progresses.

A source told People, ‘The entire family is over the moon. Kim had been looking for a surrogate for months until recently when she found the perfect candidate. They want everything to be perfect and for the baby to be extremely healthy.’

The insider said, ‘They don’t want any complications and Kim is providing an ideal eating regimen and diet so everyone knows what the baby is consuming before it’s born.’

It was reported in July that Kim, 36, had opted to go the surrogate route to expand her family due to health complications during her first two pregnancies. Rory Nigel King has been arraigned before a Brisbane District Court for stalking, threat to safety and assault of his girlfriend.

The court heard how the woman implored him to leave her but he stalked her and stole her underwear. When she wouldn’t let him use her phone, he grabbed her hair and kidnapped her. King ripped her clothes off, told her she was a slut, said he would slit her dog’s throat.

The court heard the details of King’s offenses, carried out at places including Gympie and Fortitude Valley. Crown prosecutor Joshua Hanna said the woman was still terrified of King, who is 29.

But King will serve no more time behind bars, leaving the dock on Friday with a suspended sentence. King had already spent 632 days in custody and had pleaded guilty to charges including torture, assault, and unlawful stalking.

The woman was a teenager when the verbally and physically abusive relationship with King started. After the phone dispute, King grabbed the woman “and started throwing her around,” Mr Hanna said. Then he punched her in the ribs.

Mr Hanna said, “While he was punching her he told her to have sex with him and called her a slut. He stripped her naked and ripped her pants and underwear off.”

Fifteen tennage boys have been reportedly treated for Rabies after they gang raped a Donkey in a rural area in morrocco.

More than 15 boys were reported to have raped this particular Donkey in the town of Sidi Al Kamel, but only 15 were confirmed to have checked into the Mechraa Belksiri Hospital; receiving treatments for over a week after they contracted the disease from the animal.

The other boys were secretly taken to private hospitals for treatment as they didn’t want news getting out about their sons’ condition and actions.

The family of the Boys were completely horrified by the incident. Word has been sent to other community members to have themselves checked up if they had had any sexual contact with the donkey.
