Hi. Congratulations on your admission to UNTHSC. Can you please send me an email, I'm currently at UNTHSC for my Masters Program as well.

dellapi2:
Hello guys. Got my visa approval today at the Lagos consulate, 6.30am batch. My interview was very very short. smiley grin. Met the female V.O in window 3.
Got to the consulate by 5.45am and met a lot of people outside. Joined the queue for the nonimmigrant visas. Got inside and did my biometric verification. Subsequently joined the queue for the V.Os as we waited for them. They eventually arrived at 7.30ish. I was the second person to be interviewed by the V.O. A lot of F1 visas were issued before my turn.
Our conversation was as follows:
VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning ma'am
Asked me to pass her my passport, i20 and sevis receipt which I did

VO: What are you going to the US for ( started typing and glancing through my I 20 intermittently)
Me: I am going to the University of North Texas Health SC for my masters in public health and will be majoring in environmental health (she nodded as she kept typing)
VO: What would you do when you return?
Me: I intend to work for the ministry of health in order to reduce the disease burden in Nigeria. Our country is ranked among the highest with the incidences of diseases of public health significance such as malaria, tuberculosis and HIV/aids.
VO: Where do you work currently?
Me: Told her my current job as a medical officer under the dept of public health.
VO: Who will be sponsoring you?
Me: My mom. Told her my mom's job. Also told her I have some personal savings. (She nodded and kept typing all the while)

VO: Your visa has been approved... Hands me the white paper and my I 20 and sevis receipt.
I thanked her and left.

Honestly I was prepared for a lot more than this. No documents asked. No travel history though I have a schengen visa in my passport. I feel those guys are really eager to issue visas to students.
Thank you so much guys for this thread. I really learnt a lot. And I also think the 6.30 am batch is really good. I had to reschedule from 11 to 6.30am when I saw other people's transcripts. Above all trust and believe God. It's all by His Grace.

Of a truth, God is a good God and His mercies endures forever. This is my testimony

I started working on furthering my studies last year. I took TOEFL (102), GRE (296), and applied to only 2 schools. I actually only completed the application for one as I couldn’t get a research supervisor/committee for the second school before the deadline for the application was over. Even though it was stated that the minimum score for GRE for the program I am going is 300, I applied with faith believing God that no School will deny my admission. I focused on God, won souls for Christ fasted and prayed, and sowed seeds to secure my admission and my visa. Today God proved himself that he is not a user of man but rather he is looking for whom to bless.

I arrived the US Consulate at about 8.40am. I first joined one queue outside (where people queue up before they enter and go through security). When it got to my turn on that queue the security official said it’s not yet time for my interview as the people going in now were for 8.30 and 9.00. He asked me to wait that he will call for the 11.00 applicants soon. So I waited for about 45mins (standing all through, no chairs) before they called in the applicants for the 11.00am interview (this was like around 9.20am). So I went in and passed through all the rigorous stages of screening, finger prints, etc…..it was a very long line. Finally I arrived in front of window 3 for the interview at about 10.00am.

The VO was one oyibo lady that wasn’t smiling at all. The interview went as follows:
Me: Good morning ma….smiling sheepishly
VO: pass me your passport and your documents
Me: passed my passport, i-20, sevis receipt, ds 160 confirmation, etc
VO: What are your study plans?
Me: I’m going for graduate studies at the University of blah blah blah, where I will be studying for my Masters degree in blah blah blah. The program begins this Summer and ends next year after which I will return home and utilize the knowledge and research skills I have acquired in the US.
VO: Do you have a Bachelors Degree?
Me: Yes. I have a BSc in blah blah blah
VO: What have you been doing before now?
Me: I work two jobs. As a bleep at bleep company and a part time job as a bleep at bleep.
VO: Who is paying for all this?
Me: My aunt
VO: What does she do?
Me: She works with bleep as a bleep
VO: started typing plenty plenty things for like 40seconds
Me: speaking silently in my mind “Lord grant me favour in the sight of this lady, I cannot be denied a visa”
VO: Congratulations, your visa will be ready in 3 working days. Hands me a white paper which indicates the DHL branch where I’m to pick up my visa. She also gave me a pamphlet inviting me for some sought of seminar with Education USA at the Consulate in July. She said the seminar is for all international students.

Thank God…!!! My three days fast and anointing oil finally paid off……Thank you Jesus

I also want to use this opportunity to thank the moderators of this group and everyone who in one way on the other has offered help and advice to novice like me. Everything I know about the immigration process, interview, application, etc I learnt on this group and I am grateful to this family for all that they do. May God bless you all

Hello fam...!!!

Filling form DS-160 and there's a question "where will you be staying in the US?"

I haven't soughted out my accommodation yet, I intend to do so when I arrive but the International student office say they can offer me a place for 7-10days which is enough time for me to look around & get an accommodation.

My question now is, can I fill in the school's address?

Also is there anyone on nairaland at UNT?

Please I want to ask, for the visa interview do I have to take original GRE & TOEFL scores from ETS and original transcripts from my school to the interview?

What I have is a scanned copy of my scores & transcript evaluated by WES which I was thinking I would print out & take to the interview.

Please oh where are the bosses, y'all should help me out

I've been applying to a couple of grad schools in the US. The thing is I asked my Prof to write in recommendations, which they have uploaded to the schools websites. I'm applying to about 5 schools. Recommendations for 3 of the schools have been uploaded and submitted. I need recommendations for the remaining 2 schools but I have a feeling my Profs are getting tire of writing and uploading recommendations already (na only me graduate from the school?). Plz i want to ask can i write and upload recommendations for myself by myself using the names of my Profs? Are recommendation letters investigated or screened during the application process? Cause I don tire to de meet my profs them
Career / Re: Medical Laboratory Scientists Forum by unclev: 1:22pm On Feb 12, 2016
I was reading through the Nigeria Institute of Science Laboratory Technlogy website and I noticed that graduates of Science Laboratory Technology are allowed to set up private laboratories in which they are licensed to carry out Biology, Microbiology, Serology, Hematology, Histology, Biochemistry, etc tests. They are given their own licenses by the NISLT. My question is are there going to be consequences from AMLS for setting up such a laboratory accredited by NISLT?
