Following the various occurences in the political scene, considering the quality/caliber of leaders we have in the country, the the proposed (or lack of) economic polices and system of things in general. As a concerned citizen of Nigeria what is your candid opinion on development of the country? There was vision 2010, now we have vision 2020? How can this vision be acheived when Lecturers/ teachers, Police, Doctors, Professionals in general earn peanuts while Politicians who surely cannot construct their own CVs are awarded with Millions of Naira as "stress allowance" for doing what?. My key question is "is the country moving forward or moving backwards?" Are there any ways of measuring these. My country is one of the few places i know where mediocrity is celebrated. The lesser you know the better. What is your opinion about these issues? |

This shows the calibre of leaders we have in our dear nation. |

@ babwilms Baddo, tight CV, keep it up my bro, the sky is the startin point. if asked, i'll adv you to get a few yrs foreign expr. before going home, why? the world is getting smaller, the key thing now is to ensure u are a citizen fo the world i.e, u carry the "paali" (passport) of your country but your experience and qualification keys u to work anywhere in the world, many young professionals (even Nigerians) are on course for this. My brother you are one of such. more power to ur , I do hope when the time and conditions are right (hopefully soon) you will join us to build a Nigeria of our dreams. 1 luv. |

@ penfold my brother, even if the millions are not coming in yet, i'm positive they are on the way, provided we stick to the right path and distinguish ourselves in what we do. I may not totally agree with you as regards dealing with site formen only, i'd rather we carry out our duties with them directly, making the un-skilled/ semi- skilled workers on site realise that we feel their pains, treat them as human beigns and be transparent in your dealings. U very likely will not go wrong (this is actually eligible to all forms of leadership and management), but if u de do big boi for site, meeen, those guys can "yeye" u. Confirmed. Guys lets share thots and Ideas, does anyone know about ground retention in excavation, shoring and/or temporary works. I'm presently involved in these and want to have an idea of its feasibilty in Nigeria |

@ Poster, thanks a bunch for this thread. Good to know we are keeping up with recent global developments in water/ wastewater treatment in Nigeria i.e the Lamella Clarifier. I'm a Civil Engr as well. I was into designs then later went out on site (housing projects). The issue as regards site workers is something we will always have to deal with as people are different and we need to manage whatever skills/ workers we have to attain our goals. I strongly feel knowledge/ people management should be include in the school curriculum. My main problem with engineering in Nigeria is that, after spending donkey years and cracking your head thru engrn school, u graduate to earn 30k per month (except shell, MTN and co.) , its really painful. I left engr and went into banking, my salary as a starter was about 3 times my former pay. Thank God i'm back in the engineering field now, due to further self development though i'm into a not too popular sector now. @sinaoye, the softwares are available, some are quite expensive tho, but they are around, u may/will need to get a few tips form other users but u can always get round them. They help with analysis, design and detailing of your work. @bolakale1 Many of us fail to realise that we are taught to be good employees in school (at least under the current Nigerian school system). I fully support you in that as young professionals, we should look beyond the 30 days make 1 pay syndrome and seek to be employers of labour as well. Being an employee can make you rich not wealthy and also we should remember that he who pays you a salary of 100 naira makes at least double of that through your services. |

Being Born as a Baptist, I love my hymns, loads of them, This particular hymn is on my mind today. hope it ministers to someone. CLOSE TO THEE Thou my everlasting Portion, more than friend or life to me, All along my pilgrim journey, Savior, let me walk with Thee. Close to Thee, close to Thee, close to Thee, close to Thee, All along my pilgrim journey, Savior, let me walk with Thee. Not for ease or worldly pleasure, nor for fame my prayer shall be; Gladly will I toil and suffer, only let me walk with Thee. Close to Thee, close to Thee, close to Thee, close to Thee, Gladly will I toil and suffer, only let me walk with Thee. Lead me through the vale of shadows, bear me over life’s fitful sea; Then the gate of life eternal may I enter, Lord, with Thee. Close to Thee, close to Thee, close to Thee, close to Thee, Then the gate of life eternal may I enter, Lord, with Thee. |

Breaking News !!! In the spirit of "attracting foreign investors", The Democratic Party has acquired 51% shares in PDP. Expatriate President considered/required for Nigeria, Bill Clinton / Nelson Mandela are the present nominees. Any other Ideas? |

Hi guys, I'm Primavera certified about to start prince 2 as well (Project Management). got any ideas of the Nigerian companies to apply to? thanks |

Religion is a personal issue, u r not representing Nigeria or any state in "paradise" so, I strongly disagree with the government(s) and I see that as another good way to waste tax payers finances. I'm sure the Saudi and Isreali governments do not sponsor such despite reaping billions from the pilgrimages. |
