Business / Is Payday A Scam? by Unyione: 10:15pm On Oct 10, 2023
It's has been a couple of months since Payday has had a large number of users complaining about their money not being released to them and their accounts blocked.

If you look under any Payday tweet, you would see a lot of users requesting and some begging for their money and accounts to be released.

Could Payday be a fraud that has gotten VC backing or it is just dealing with an exceptionally large user base?

I try to answer this in the video below but I would also really like to know what you think.

Science/Technology / Will Chatgpt and Other AI Take Your Job? by Unyione: 5:33am On Jan 22, 2023

Ever since the industrial era began, man’s desire for mass production, speed and ease has only gone but gone up. From the mechanisation of farming to textile production, speed has been the name of the game.
Businesses have doubled down on technology in a bid to do more with less and increase profits while reducing costs, but all that innovation has not come without its own downsides.
Just like the widespread use of machines in the industrial revolution led to significant job loss for many manual labourers, the introduction of artificial intelligence may mean the that a wave of job losses are coming.
With the birth of this era, and the introduction of the OpenAI’s ChatGPT, the question becomes even more potent: will AI take your job?
Nigeria may be far behind technologically so many people may never need to worry about this. Even though the fact is that AI is gradually coming for the world.

OpenAI was founded in December 2015 by Elon Musk and friends. The company was started with the goal of advancing artificial intelligence in a responsible and safe manner, with the intention of making sure that the benefits of AI are shared with all of humanity. On the 30th of November, 2022, OpenAI released a ground breaking technology: ChatGPT.

ChatGPT is a large language model developed by OpenAI that is trained on a massive dataset of conversational text. It is designed to generate human-like text in response to prompts, and can be used for a variety of natural language processing tasks such as language translation, text summarisation, and question answering. (This answer was provided by ChatGPT itself).
Basically, ChatGPT has been trained to give you answers on any topic just like a highly educated professional on that topic would.
So since I’m a software engineer, I asked ChatGPT to write a binary search sample code and you can see a snippet of what it wrote in the picture (I couldn't capture everything in one picture).

ChatGPT is getting trained to work in content creation, customer service, e-commerce, healthcare, finance and education already. So, if you work in this industries, you may already consider yourself to be under the radar of one powerful AI.

However, it is worthy of note that since the industrial revolution, job loss has always been one of the results of technological advancement. But one thing that most people fail to see is that massive job creation also happens. Basically, the way work is done just changes, and there will be a need to up-skill to meet up with the new requirements.

Programming / Re: This Is What A Recruiter Told Me About Software Developers From Nigeria by Unyione: 12:37pm On Oct 14, 2021
Lindner:

Yeah. But those are Nigerian companies operating within the economic limitations of Nigeria. A US company that you read online that just raised $153m second round funding, you went to the interview and requested for $500/month. I have an issue with that.

Sometime the mistake is inevitable. When I first started, I once asked a company to pay me 200k monthly. I thought I had made them. When I got the job, I was told that they had valued me at $1000, about 350k at the time. I was so

Programming / Re: I Want To Learn Programming. Which Language Should I Start With? by Unyione: 12:20pm On Oct 14, 2021
Javanian:
JavaScript

JavaScript is a scripting language commonly implemented as part of a web browser in order to create enhanced user interfaces and dynamic websites.

JavaScript is a prototype-based scripting language that is dynamic, weakly typed and has first-class functions. It uses syntax influenced by the language C. JavaScript copies many names and naming conventions from Java. JavaScript is NOT the-same thing as JAVA

Where can i learn JavaScript?

JavaScript has grown rapidly in popularity because of Node.js.

Node.js is a cross platform runtime environment that runs on the V8 engine and allows JavaScript to be executed outside the browser.

Node.js utilizes asynchronous programming with the advantage of speed of code execution.

JavaScript can now run in the browser, and on the server side. So you just learn the language once and easily learn and build other applications.

If you would like to do frontend web I would advice you look at Vue Js and React Js after learning the basics.

If you would like to focus on the backend, you should learn Express Js, and one of the other backend frameworks e.g Nest Js or Adonis Js.

If you would like to work on mobile devices the React Native is your guys.

Having said all these, please note that you must learn the basics well before jumping into frameworks.

The MDN docs are very detailed is you are a patient person

Family / Re: I Killed This Snake Near My Toilet At Midnight, Help Needed (Photo) by Unyione: 5:45am On Aug 25, 2021
Designer123:
Early this morning (around 12:02 am), I saw this snake on my lobby close to my toilet. I don't know where it came out from but there is a hole on my toilet where I usually see cockroaches. There is also an ant hole close to the toilet door. I don't know if it came out from any of those holes.

Also, does any one know the characteristics of this snake? Is it poisonous?

Do you think the snake offspring will be in my house?

This is the first time I am seeing snake in my house (the house is 11 years old). What can I use to repel snakes around my house?

Please help, I really need to address this. There is a 3weeks old baby on the other apartment. Thanks.

Please I need help. I am currently experiencing this. I went to use the toilet this morning and when I flushed I noticed a black tail dangling.

I can't even try to kill it now because these 'NEPA' people have ceased the light and I can't use torch for this kind of thing.

Please is there an easy way?
