Hollywood A-list actor Brad Pitt and former husband of Actress Angelina Jolie recently opened up on the cause of his divorce with the humanitarian actress.

Brad Pitt, 53 revealed how he was determined to avoid a messy custody and divorce battle with his wife Jolie. The Troy actor admitted to decades of heavy drinking and marijuana use in his first extensive interview since splitting with Angelina Jolie last year.

The actor who spoke with GQ Style in the interview published Thursday morning stated that he and Jolie were now committed to resolving matters amicably and privately after watching his family be “ripped apart”.

The couple who became close after their 2005 movie Mr and Mrs smith were popularly known by the media as ‘Brangelina’. They married in 2014 and had six children. The celebrity world was therefore shocked to hear of Jolie’s sudden announcement in September 2016 that she was filing for divorce after accusing her husband of child abuse.

Pitt was investigated for possible child abuse after losing his temper in front of some of the children. But Legend of the Fall star was cleared of the allegations, and in January he and Jolie agreed to use a private judge in their divorce case.

The actor says he has since quit drinking and was undergoing therapy after turning to alcohol in the past year to cope with his issues.

“I was boozing too much,” Pitt said “It’s just become a problem. And I’m really happy it’s been half a year now, which is bittersweet, but I’ve got my feelings in my fingertips again.”On his split with Jolie, 41, he stated it had been a huge generator for change for him.

“I can’t remember a day since I got out of college when I wasn’t boozing or had a spliff, or something.

“I’m really, really happy to be done with all of that. I mean I stopped everything except boozing when I started my family. But even this last year, you know – things I wasn’t dealing with. I was boozing too much,” he said.

The United States government have faulted the claims made by former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan that the influence of the United states Government led by the former US president Barack Obama was responsible for his defeat at the 2015 presidential elections.

The US stated that Goodluck’s defeat in 2015 was the will of the Nigerian people and not external influence, emphasizing that the US advocated a free, fair and transparent election and that the election outcome was an expression of the will of the Nigerian people,” the US embassy spokesman, Russel Brooks responded in a part statement.

The statement by the US embassy spokesman, Russel Brooks, on Wednesday, April 26 was released in response to the new book titled: ‘Against the Run of Play’ in which the former president, Goodluck Jonathan was reported to have stated that foreign powers helped President Muhammadu Buhari emerge winner in the 2015 general election.

Past foreign leaders Jonathan blamed for his loss in the election included former US President Barack Obama, ex-British prime minister, David Cameron and French President Francois Hollande who he said aided President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory.

The Association for Computing Machinery recently gave him the 2016 Turing Award, frequently considered the Nobel Prize of the computing industry. Tim Berners-Lee an English computer scientist, is very known as the inventor of the World Wide Web which has transformed the world. Berners-Lee, a graduate from Oxford University with a degree in physics, first made the proposal for an information management system in March 1989, submitted a proposal for the World Wide Web while working at CERN, the European organization for nuclear research. A new report has been revealed of how the son of legendary boxer Muhammad Ali who died last year was detained for hours by immigration officials earlier this month at a Florida airport. This was made known by a family friend.

According to the family friend and lawyer Chris Mancini. Muhammad Ali Jr., 44, and his mother, Khalilah Camacho-Ali, had arrived at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Feb. 7 after returning from speaking at a Black History Month event in Montego Bay, Jamaica. They were pulled aside while going through customs check because of their Arabic-sounding.

The Immigration officials were said to have let her go after she had showed them a photo of herself with her ex-husband, but her son and wasn’t as lucky as she was as he hadn’t any photo to prove his relationship with the former boxing champion.

The officials according to Mancini said were said to have held him while questioning Ali Jr. for almost two hours, repeatedly asking him, “Where did you get your name from?” and “Are you Muslim?”

When Ali Jr. responded that yes, he is a Muslim, the officers kept questioning him about his religion and where he was born.

A spokesman for U.S. Customs and Border Protection had written when asked for comments on the report, “Due to the restrictions of the Privacy Act, U.S. Customs and Border Protection cannot discuss individual travelers; however, all international travelers arriving in the U.S. are subject to CBP inspection.”

“To the Ali family, it’s crystal clear that this is directly linked to Mr. Trump’s efforts to ban Muslims from the United States,” Mancini said, referring to

President Trump’s executive order signed Jan. 27 that instituted a ban for citizens of seven predominantly Muslim countries.

Meanwhile the officials at the Fort Lauderdale airport as at friday were yet to respond to requests for comment.

Mancini also said he and the Ali family were still contemplating filing a federal lawsuit and are currently trying to find out how many other people have been subjected to the same treatment as Ali Jr.

While government workers, school employees and students took the day off to celebrate the federal holiday, Protest were been made in several parts of New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.

Many carried placards with inscriptions such as “I don’t pay taxes to fund a golf weekend,” said one, while other placards read “Just say no to fascist pigs” and “NO! We refuse to accept a fascist America.”

He was a Nigerian TV and film actor. He was best known for his role on the long-running Nigerian television series Checkmate. Born into a Catholic family, he was at one time a member of the Altar Boys and a Lector at St. Dominic's Catholic Church, Yaba, Lagos. He attended the University of Lagos, where he studied Mass Communication. His first acting appearance was in the play This is Our Chance by James Ene Henshaw, directed by Isaac John. He played the lead role, King Damba. Other plays he has featured in include The Gods Are Not to Blame by Ola Rotimi, and Trials of Brother Jero by Wole Soyinka. Agu hit the limelight with a role in Checkmate, a 1990s TV soap opera, in which he played the character Benny. He went on to starred in the first Nigerian Home Video, Living in Bondage (1992) playing the role of Ichie Million. Other movies he featured in include: Living in Bondage - 1992, Blood Brothers, Blood Brothers 2, A Minute to Midnite, Untouchable, Circle of Doom - 1993. From acting he went on to produce his first film Jezebel in 1994 and went on to produce and direct many others, including In the Name of the Father, A Divine Call, The Boy is Mine, Body and Soul, Love and Pride, A Dance in the Forest, and Take Me to Jesus. Francis Agu became ill in October 2006, and died on 20 March 2007.

1. Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai (16 February 1960)

Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai is the current Governor of Kaduna State. He was also the former Director General of The Bureau of Public Enterprises, the head privatisation agency in Nigeria and also the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja from 16 July 2003 to 29 May 2007. He carried out his post-graduate programs at Harvard Business School and Georgetown University. He also has an LL.B degree from the University of London and a master's degree in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University in June 2009. He also received the Kennedy School Certificate in Public Policy and Management. He served as an adviser in the Transition government of General Abdulsalami Abubakar. After his tenure as FCT minister he reportedly went into self-exile during the tenure of President Umaru Yar'Adua. He was elected as the Executive Governor of Kaduna State after the 2015 general elections in Nigeria.

2. Jeremiah Useni (February 16, 1943)
Jeremiah Timbut Useni was a retired General in the Nigerian Army and former Minister Abuja Federal Capital Territory during the Sani Abacha military junta. He also served Nigeria in various capacities such as Minister for Transport and Quarter-Master General of the Nigeria Army. In his post military career, he has also served as Deputy Chairman of one of the significant parties in Nigeria, the All Nigeria Peoples Party.
He was appointed Military Governor of Nigeria's defunct Bendel State in January 1984. In May 2006, he left the ANPP to become chairman of a new party, the Democratic People's Party. Useni ran for the April 2011 general election as Senatorial candidate for Plateau South on the DPP platform, but was defeated by Victor Lar of the PDP.

3. Adeleke Mamora(16 February 1953)

Adeleke Olurunnimbe Mamora is a former medical doctor and a member of the Action Congress (AC) party. He was a former Senator for the Lagos East constituency of Lagos State, from April 2003 – 6 June 2011. He was Medical Director of a Medical Centre (1987 - 1998), and a Company Medical Adviser (1988 - 1992). He had his first elected office as the Speaker of the 4th Lagos State House of Assembly from 2 June 1999 – 30 May 2003. Mamora was a National Delegate for the National Republican Convention (NRC) in 1990, and Secretary, Lagos East of the United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP) in 1998. He was elected to the Lagos State House of Assembly in 1999 and was appointed Speaker. He was Chairman of the Conference of Speakers (2000 - 2001). Mamora was reelected to the senate in 2007. He was also a member of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Parliament (2003 - 2006).
In the senate, He was appointed to committees on Upstream Petroleum Resources, Selection Committee, Health and Federal Character & Inter-Government. In 2003 he was appointed chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions Affairs. In May 2009, during a mid-term evaluation of Senators. ThisDay news outfit noted that he had sponsored bills on Tenure of Office, Surgeon-General of Nigeria and repeal and amendment of the Tobacco Control Act. He is known for sponsoring motions to amend Senate rule 111 to bring it into conformity with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Flynn, a former Army lieutenant general and Defense Intelligence Agency head,is now likely to face probe following his resignation which resulted from his phone call with the Russian ambassador to the U.S. Sergey Kislyak before President Donald Trump’s inauguration. The call was said to be linked to the U.S. sanctions on Russia.

Flynn and Ambassador Sergey Kislyak discussion was said to have happened late last year, which now raises questions about whether he was freelancing on foreign policy while President Obama was still in office. It is been said that he may have misled Trump officials about the calls.

Flynn’s call with the Russia official was regarded as a major break from standard protocol, and possibly illegal under the obscure Logan Act.

Michael Flynn’s military career as defense intelligence chief was ended by the Obama administration. Flynn had claimed his dismissal was owning to the fact that he held tougher views than the Obama administration about the Islamic extremism. Even though former senior U.S. official who worked with him said the firing was for insubordination, after the Army lieutenant general failed to follow guidance from superiors.

News finally broke Monday afternoon that Flynn had apologized to Vice President Mike Pence for allowing him to claim Flynn never discussed anything which had to do with the United States’ decision to expel diplomats or impose censure against Russia in January.

Now, with additional reports indicting the former National security adviser. Trump’s team now sees Flynn as a possible Russian blackmail risk. There are calls for him to resign from his own party to avoid becoming a liability for the party.

Once upon a time during the early 3rd century lived a Catholic priest who went on to change the world with his message of love. His name was valentine. As the world today celebrates Valentines’s day we take a look at this extraordinary day which has for centuries captivated the whole world.

Its no doubt the old, the young have heard of him, movies have been made about him but on his life on every day love.

According to history, Valentine was a Catholic priest who lived in Rome during the reign of Roman Emperor Claudius II. There had been a decree issued by the Emperor stopping the young men from getting married to their women since it had been discovered that the men were not willingly to join his army because of their wives.
With the decree it meant severe punishment and in some cases death for couples and the priest who organized the ceremony. But Valentine was not afraid as he defied the emperor’s degree. He went on to perform secret marriages of some couples who desired to get married. He was subsequently arrested and dragged before the Prefect of Rome who condemned him to death after he beaten, stoned and eventually beaten to death with his head cut off.

During that time in ancient Rome, an ancient custom which dates back to the 3rd century was usually celebrated in the month of February. The festival which was called “Lupercalia” which was in honour of Juno, the queen of the Roman gods and goddess, who was also known as the goddess of women, love and marriage.

On this occasion, pagan ceremonies were been held in which young men would choose names of maidens to be their partners during the celebration and which led to engagement. This was usually sealed with a gift exchange.

The early christian church was known for transforming pagan festivals by giving them Christian meaning, decided to do away with the pagan festival by replacing the names of saints for those pagan gods/goddess.

In 496AD, Pope Gelasius who was an African Pope and the last Arican Pope decided to set aside Feb 14th to honour St Valentine who became the patron saint of love.

Since then the exchange of gifts has become a practice over the centuries as the holiday became a time to exchange love messages. He is regarded as the patron saint of engaged couples and of anyone wishing to marry. Valentine are sent as signs of devotion of true lovers, friendship between friends and gestures towards the poor and one’s loved ones.

So when next you decide to celebrate valentine’s day with your loved ones, kindly spare a thought for the man behind this festival.

It is quite unfortunate that someone who claims to be a christian and a follower of Christ will have such hatred for Mary the mother of Jesus Christ. If you condemn the Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lord Jesus Christ will certainly not condemn his own mother. Besides who does such in our time. "I love you but hate your mother" does not make any sense. Its not a must to love the Mother of Jesus, but its not proper to despise the mother of someone you love and worship.

As for labelling the Catholic church a satanists, perhaps you can ask our Lord who founded the church in the gospel of Matthew 16:18 that establishing the church which went on to sprout other churches was a mistake. I don't think. The Catholic church has made mistakes just like other pentecostal churches but that is not enough to label us Satanist. The church was not founded by any man but Christ himself. We should love ourselves as christians regardless of our denomination and not tear one another apart.

The Singer, is gradually returning back to the music scene years after the alleged rape scandal which almost sank his music career. He was in the news few days ago when a video was posted of his altercation between him and some policemen went viral.

In the video, the policemen were seen threatening to shoot the singer.

When he was contacted by the press, he was quick to reveal the cause of the altercation, the singer alleged the police had threatened to shoot him for not giving them bribe.

According to Africa China “Sound Sultan featured me, Baba Fryo,Daddy Showkey, and Marvellous Benji on a song and we went for the video shoot. While we were shooting the video, a group of about 80 area boys approached us and they were disturbing us. They said that they would not leave unless I give them some money. I agreed and told them I would see them before I go but they should present a representative so that I do not have to give out money to multiple people. After the shoot, I realised that there was no way I could leave without ‘seeing’ these boys so I called their representative and gave them money. Sadly, the money I gave them caused a fight among them so my boys whisked me into a car and I drove off.

“Shortly after I left the venue of the video shoot, two policemen came out from nowhere and jumped in front of my vehicle. They demanded that I come out of the car or they would shoot me. It was at that point I began to record the video. I obliged and came out of my vehicle then I approached them and introduced myself. I told
the policemen that I was an artiste and I just settled some area boys but the money caused problems among them and I needed to leave that vicinity immediately but the policemen refused to let me go. They said that I had to give them their own share of the money or they would shoot. At that point I was upset so I went back to my
car telling them that they should shoot me because I was not going to give them a dime. They were already creating a scene when one of those area boys came to meet the police to explain to them who I am. While they were talking I sped off then I placed a call to the
Lagos State Public Relations Officer. She told me to send pictures of the officers and promised to investigate the matter,” he said.

According to the singer the PPRO invited him to her office to identify the policemen who had threatened to shoot him.

“True to her words, she invited me to her office and I saw the policemen who had already been detained. I identified them but when I noticed that they were going to lock them up, I began to beg on their behalf because I am sure they have families somewhere. It is just sad that there are some bad eggs among the police who are
meant to serve and protect us,”.

Africa China may have been lucky to have the police reported but some other nigerians who have found themselves in similar circumstances with the police were not lucky.

The remarks made by Fox News host Bill O’Reilly during a Sunday interview with US President Donald Trump were he called Vladimir Putin “a killer” has been making news, this became worse when the Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Monday that the Kremlin considered O’Reilly’s words about Putin unacceptable and offensive and expected an apology.

US President Donald Trump during the interview to O’Reilly responded to O’Reilly remark calling Putin a “killer, “You think our country’s so innocent?”. the president asked him.

On Monday, in response to Moscow demand for an apology, O’Reilly said “Apparently the Putin Administration in Moscow, demanding that I, your humble correspondent apologize… so I’m working on that apology, but it may take a little time,” further concluding. “Might want to check in with me around 2023.”

The Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov responded also saying that Russia is very patient and can wait till 2023 for an apology.

Since leaving the white house on the 20th of January, Immediate former president Barack Obama has now made his first public statement criticizing his successors recent travel ban, describing it as ‘Heartened’.

On Monday, he kicked against President Donald Trump’s ban on 7 Muslim-majority countries. Trump had on Friday banned seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States for the next 90 days and suspended the admission of all refugees. The former president is however happy that Americans are standing up to protest the ban.

He made the statement through a spokesman that he is “heartened by the level of engagement” over the weekend in opposition to the action. This may not be surprising considering the opposition the former president had over Trump’s candidacy prior to the general elections.

23-year-old Iris Mittenaere who is a dental student from a small town of Lille in northern France has won the Miss Universe crown this Monday in the annual pageant held in the Philippines host of the competition.

The new queen who was full of shock when she was announced as winner among the field of 86 contestants. She had earlier said in response to a final question from the host of the pageant Steve Harvey that she would be honored if she only landed among the three finalists.

Mittenaere was taken by shock as she stood speechless while placing her hands on her face as the outgoing winner from the Philippines, Pia Wurtzbach, crowned her in front of the crowd at the packed Mall of Asia Arena by Manila Bay.


In their final question, the top three finalists, were asked to cite a failure in their life and explain what they learned from the experience.

“I’ve failed several times in my life,” Mittenaere replied without much explanation. “when you fail, you have to be elevated and you have to try again and keep going … I have failed before but for me this is the great first opportunity.” she concluded.

Miss Haiti, Raquel Pelissier, a 25-year-old who is also a survivor of the devastating 2010 earthquake that destroyed her hometown, was named the first runner up while Miss Colombia, 23-year-old, Andrea Tovar, was named second runner up.

“I survived the earthquake,” Pelissier said in reply to the same question, citing the quake the Haiti government estimated to have killed more than 300,000 people and displaced more than 1.5 million others. “I felt I was failing myself because I was not living my dreams … But I chose to be a very positive person, and learned a great lesson from it because if I am here today, it is because I am living my dreams.”

Perhaps the critical moment of the ceremony came when the American comedian host declared: “This is Steve Harvey, I got it right,” referring in jest to the last pageant in Las Vegas more than a year ago when he erroneously announcement Miss Colombia as the winner in the competition instead of Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach.

Mittenaere may be the winner tonight but Steve Harvey, could also be regarded as a co-winner considering the fact that he had the chance to redeem his image after his blunder during the last event.
