Please guys can someone answer me or can someone help me create a cgi federal account? urchdiya: Hello guys I have 2 questions:
1. I have been finding it difficult to create a cgi federal account for more than a week and I’ve sent mail to the Nigeria visa support address since then yet no mail. I even sent a reminder too & yet nothing. Want to know if I have to submit my ds-160 before they will attend to me?
2. Also I have a friend that didn’t see the country for visa application when creating her cgi federal account and she left it in Algeria which was the first option. Is there a way to correct this or she has to create another account? And if she has to create another account, can she use the same email address she used for the Algeria?
I Will appreciate a response. Thanks |

If only I knew you were this grounded, I wouldn’t be panicking looking for a way to rich out. Congratulations once again. Damite2ky: Visa Approved this morning. Abuja Embassy.
Transcript later.
I'm grateful to God and this forum Profile; Abuja Deficit $26k Lawyer, working as In-house counsel with an IT company. 4 years working experience. Masters of Business Administration (MBA) Fall 2021
Greeted and passed my i20 and passport through the opening.
V.O: Have you interviewed with the US embassy before?
Me: No
I did biometrics thereafter.
V.O: I see you're going to the Eastern Illinois University for your Master of Business Administration.
Me: That’s correct.
V.O: Why this school?
Me: I chose EIU for 2 reasons. Reason no 1, EIU's MBA programme offers students the opportunity to participate and engage in Capstone projects of the school which students can leverage as graduate experience.
Reason 2, during my Skype call with Dr. xxxxxxx, the xxxxxxxx of Graduate Business Studies, I was informed that EIU offers the opportunity to enroll in Graduate Certificate Programs such as Business Analytics alongside the MBA programme without extending the duration of my MBA programme or my stay in the US.
I see this as an advantage to get a competitive edge in my career, and this informed my decision to pick EIU.
V:O: why did you decide to go for MBA?
Me: This course fits nicely into my immediate plan of taking up senior management role at my current company and my long-term plan of becoming a seasoned business and strategy consultant.
My long-term goal of being a business and strategy consultant was further reaffirmed by the Covid-19 global pandemic of 2020. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has shown that many essential businesses are more vulnerable more than others due to their lack of relevant management principles and their inability to adjust to changes brought about by unpredictable financial situations.
So, in addition with my legal experience, I expect that the knowledge garnered from the MBA programme will equip me with relevant skillset in the areas *VO cuts in* That’s fine.
V:O: what did you say your Company do again? Me: Information Technology
VO: Who is paying for this?
Me: My Mum is my sponsor. She is a business woman, She owns two retail stores in Lagos and two in Oyo State, also she has access to funds from my late father's estate.
VO: Your visa is approved. *hands me the white paper*, keep your I-20..... * at this point, I was just nodding, I barely heard a word she said, next thing I heard was “to avoid being turned back at the port of entry”
No document was requested for except the ones I supplied (Passport, I-20, SEVIS Receipt)
Thank you all for the invaluable tips. God bless.

You know how powerful bio weapons are. It’s a very sensitive course. Make dem no use their hand consume their own. But once you’re certified clean,na sai gobe Highzhikk: Has anyone been placed on Administrative processing? How long did it take?
People, I went for my interview on 7th of July (Fully funded offer, PhD Biotechnology) everything was going fine until the VO asked if I have travelled out of Nigeria before. I answered that I have gone to Russia for MSc in Biotechnology.
The VO went away for like 20mins and she came back and told me that she was checking about my course. After another five minutes she hand me the 221g form for Administrative processing that they need more time to research about my course in Russia (It happens that Biotechnology and some other STEM courses are on the technology Alert list).

Biotechnology Msc in Russia is a serious course. I feel they wanna be sure you don’t work for the Russia Govt. So I feel this is no longer in the hands of the consular but FBI doing their work to make sure you’re clean. It might take time but just relax. I know someone that has used the approach. She was denied in April & she chose regular & got date for 2nd June which was later rescheduled by the embassy to 17th June & she got her visa approved. Someone on this thread has done same too Malone122: I don’t know any one that has used that approach if you are seeing previously refused you are obligated to pick it since you have been denied within two months it’s not a matter of earlier dates of regular Unless you didn’t see the option of previously refused then you go with what ever you saw My opinion.. 1 Like |

This was really smooth. But why didn’t you go with her then since the funding covered both of you with surplus? Did you now see why VO thought something isn’t right here and denied her. Like I said before, let her chill for 6months or more and reapply Tshendy:
The VO didn't ask me anything about my family. Below is my own transcript
VISA APPROVED 2ND June, 2021. 11:30am
Location: Lagos
Undergraduate Course: Chemical Engineering, OAU
School: The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa
Course: PhD chemical engineering
Funding: $50k COA: $48.5k
V.O: Good Morning
Me: Good morning sir
V.O: How are you?
Me: I am fine thank you and you?
V.O: Good, please pass me your passport and I-20 ( I passed it)
V.O: (typing for a while) You are going to the university of Alabama for a PhD degree in chemical engineering
Me: Yes sir
V.O: (After checking my I-20) have you paid your SEVIS
Me: Yes sir.
V.O: How did you hear about the school
Me: I saw a publication on LinkedIn by Dr xxxx, an associated professor of the school. I was fascinated by the research because not only does it align with my interest, it also speak of the quality of researches going on in the lab. So I research about the school on google and got a link to the school website where I check through the department page. I then added the school to the list of the schools I wanted to apply to
V.O: Do you have a background in chemical engineering
Me: Yes sir, my first degree was in chemical engineering from OAU
V.O: what will the degree do for you?
Me: The degree will equip me with the technical, professional and research skill needed for a career in academic because I planned to come back to Nigeria to take up a lecturing role with Babcock University where I currently work. It will also enable me to set up my lab to continue my research which I want to aim at solving clinical, environmental and energy problem in Nigeria
V.O: what do you do at babcock
Me: I worked as a tutor in one of her high school.
V.O: High School?
Me: yes. Babcock university high school. I was deployed there by the university pending the time I will finish my graduate degree and then I will be moved back to teach university students
V.O: What do you teach?
Me: Chemistry and Mathematics
VO: how will you fund your program?
Me: I got a research assistance which covers my tuition and provide a monthly stipend for my other expenses.
V.O: How did you get your funding
Me: After reading Dr xxxx publication on LinkedIn, I sent an email to him that I will like to join his research group. I then asked me to submit official application which I did. I submitted online form, paid app fee of $80, uploaded my SOP, Transcript, CV and recommendations. After that the department schedule an interview with me and after the interview, I was recommended to the graduate school
V.O: what is the interview about
Me: The interview was centered on my background, experience, my motivation for a PhD and Aspiration
V.O: (picked a white paper and circle the pickup address) I will be approving your VISA. I will keep your passport, you will get it when the visa is ready next week. Keep your I-20 very well because you will need it at POE
Me: Thanks so much sir and have a great day
V.O: I wish you all the best
So the man didn't ask anything about my family at all. There is no deficit at all. The funding covers the two of us with about 3k surplus |

If you haven’t canceled before, you can do that just once. That prompt is generic. I got that too when I wanted to reschedule mine from Lagos to Abuja. But I still went ahead and I didn’t have to pay any MRV fee Lightspeed26: I want to cancel my appointment in Lagos and put in Abuja cos Lagos don’t seem to be responsive with emergency , however , it’s showing I can’t cancel an appointment or else I have to pay another visa fee . Haven’t canceled before and so i am confused . Is this the norm ? |

Literally this was a smooth interview but these VO’s are psychologists. First, why did you apply alone? Why didn’t you think of these your wife mentioned initially? Secondly, the amount on her i-20 is it enough for 2? Thirdly, why is she applying almost immediately after yours? Because it’s not like you’ve started school and after you guys realized living together would help cost down expenses reasons the VO asked when you left the country. I will suggest she gives it time before reapplying. Possibly 6months when you’ve left. Tshendy: Good evening everybody,
My wife F2 visa was denied today at US consulate in lagos. The following was what transpired between her and the VO.
VO: Good morning and pass your document
Wife: Good morning sir (she passed the document)
VO: I can see you are going to join your husband at the university of Alabama, Tuscaloosa.
Wife: Yes sir
VO: when did he leave the country
Wife: he will be leaving on the 1st of august, 2021 as his program starts by august 11
VO: So your business is tommyshendy. Tell me about it
Wife: yes sir. Itbis a registered fashion business that deals with production and sales of different types of female clothes. We also train people on clothes making.
VO: How come your husband never talked about this
Wife: He didnt talk about it because the business in mine and there is no where is the DS-160 form where one is required to fill spouse occupation. He was not also asked during his interview
VO: So why didn't you apply together
Wife: I initially planned to join him at the later time after he would have gone but after thinking about the benefit of going with him, we both agreed to go together. We feel going together will give emotional stability to concentrate on his studies, it will reduce the number of time he might want to be spending on phone with me been his wife and thereby giving him more time for his research. Going with him will also reduce his expenses and that he will also enable us to focus on our marriage been a young marriage
VO: how do you think it will reduce his expenses
Wife: I believe he won't have to pay for his accommodation in the US and be paying for mine in Nigeria. Cooking a single meal that we will eat together will also reduce expenses on groceries.
VO: What is your husband plan after his studies
Wife: His plan is to cone back to Nigeria to take up a lecturing role at Babcock university where he currently work
VO: when did you get married
Wife: March 28th, 2020.
VO: I am sorry, you do not qualify for a VISA this time around.
Please we don't know what went wrong. She is planning to reapply. Please any advice for us will be appreciated. Thanks 3 Likes |

Oriyomi234: My second interview was in Lagos April 20. Denied. I met a white lady at the desk. After passing her the 1-20 and passport she started typing and said I had an interview in January I said yes, she continued typing and ask what has changed but to be sincere I couldn't give a good answer to it. Then she proceed and ask why did I want to study biology? I said apart from the from the fact that Austin peay state university has one of the best biology program in the state of Tennessee, my goal is to also work as a public health personal with the Nigerian Red Cross. She continued typing and ask who is sponsoring you? I said my uncle. Then she gave me a denial letter. Or it could be your uncle is the sponsor. A friend of mine, during her first time, she noticed everyone who mentioned both Uncle or aunt got a denial. She mentioned uncle and was denied too. Immediately she left, she had her mum arrange some funds in her account and used her the second time. A week apart she went again & when VO asked what has changed, she said she noticed almost everyone with aunt & uncle got a denial, she had to make her mum give her the funds. The VO started laughing & approved it for it 4 Likes |
