Crime / Illegal Detention by uzoli: 9:32pm On May 20, 2019
The case involves both military men and civilians.
We heard it that the Ship owner Capt. Labinjo has issues with the Navy which resulted to their arrest, so definitely there's no particular offence for their arrest.
After the arrest of the ship, the Captain was taken to Capt. Labinjo's office @ Apapa, and which he explained that his wife is the Manager of the ship and not the ship owner. She only manages the ship and that his wife is not around. He was arrested that day (September 14) and the wife Mrs. Labinjo with Capt. Ibe Lambert and Benjamin Gold (operations manager) were also arrested on September 15 for an undisclosed offence. They were all taken to NNS Beecroft for about a month.
After a month, the captain Segun Yusuf, Chief engineer, Chief cook and one AB officer were also taken to NNS Beecroft. As at that time, my brother and other six civilians were still detained on the ship.

The ship owners that gave the ship to Mrs. Labinjo company went to NNS Beecroft to know what's going on, they were told the arrest was from NSA, Abuja. The ship owners contacted the Chief Security @Abuja, and he told them he doesn't know anything about the arrest and ordered the immediate release of the ship. Then, the ship owners went to the ship and told my brother and others that were still on the ship that they would soon be released as they have contacted NSA @Abuja.

After that, those @ NNS Beecroft (Labinjos, Captain, Benjamin Gold and others) were blindfolded while taken them to the Airport going to NIA (Navy Intelligence Agency) detention at Abuja in an undisclosed underground detention facility up till date.

My brother and others were still on the ship without any means of feeding. Later, on November 18, my brother and others were also taken to NNS Beecroft around 8pm. The Naval officers told them that the then Commander of the Base (Rear Admiral Okon Edet Eyo) ordered for their arrest and they would be attended to and be released the following morning so they should leave all their belongings on the ship. That was how they were locked up till date without any written statement whatsoever nor trial.

We (The Labinjos) got a lawyer, the wives of the captain and operations manager, chief engineer also got a lawyer and I also got a lawyer for my brother. They all went to court and the court ordered for their presence in the court, after which they were ordered immediate release. With all these processes, the Nigerian Navy ignored the court orders. The Nigerian Navy lawyer was summoned and questioned in court. He lamented that he had recommended to the then Commander (Okon Edet Eyo) to release them but he refused. We were on it for several months before we later involve SAN Femi Falana last month.

After the Nigerian Navy denied there whereabouts, just 2days ago, they forwarded a court letter to NNS Beecroft Apapa to notify them of court-martial of the military men among them that will soon take place. They allowed the military man among those in Lagos to contact his lawyer. I then forwarded SAN Femi Falana's contact to him and he has called him this morning.

Now the questions are:
*why did they arrest them @first?
*why did they refuse the rule of law and court orders?
*why did they deny their whereabouts?
*Now, why the courts martial for the military men after which they don't know their whereabouts?

Thanks so much my good sister. I'm really grateful
