Fashion / Jason Wu Collection by uzoo: 3:12pm On Jan 24, 2013
From the very first time i saw his 2012 fall collection , i just knew that this was the designer to beat in 2013.
Jason Wu's designs are sophisticated and has a subtle twist to its collection of dresses but still maintaining that feminine elegance
a lady would want in a dress.

No wonder the United states First lady chose to wear his dress for the inauguration ball.

check out Jason Wu's collection

i use the Neutrogena range

Neutrogena healthy skin formula - treats acne and blemishes
Neutrogena helioplex sun block (spf 55) - amazing non greasy protection against the sun rays.
Neutrogena acne scrub with grape fruit - treats acne and removes make up residue
Original Dove lotion - Moisturises your skin all day long.

Original Dove shower cream - moisturises your skin even after you have left the shower.

well , haven't heard of the one you mentioned before 'beva'. so cant say much about it.
Fashion/Clothing Market / Re: Have You Ever Been To The Chinese Wholesale Sites What Do You Think Of Them? by uzoo: 3:29pm On Jan 23, 2013
ok here is the deal on those Chinese websites.

First off, any site that is outside nigeria that does not have and physical address(a building) , you should never buy from them.

Reasons : You will never get a refund for any item you return

Secondly, and i am speaking from experience, Chinese items are cheap to buy , yes i agree and so is the item you are buying. You get a top/jacket /pants/ bags etc from an online store in china ,i guarantee you that you use it once and the next time you wear it out ,it will have issues, either the colours will run when washed or, the fabric will begin to bubble up ( bring out wool on the surface of the fabric)or begin to rip from the seams.

For the ''leather ''' bags and shoes, unless your room/shoe closet or wardrobe is constantly kept cool or air conditioned ,watch out for when the skin on the bag starts to peel off.

There is no substitute for feeling the texture of what you are buying especially if you are buying china made. My dear am sure you want to keep your customers happy so they can keep coming to patronize you.

Another Scam is when you do buy stuffs from these Chinese stores online they tend to assure you that if you ship with them using the shipping platform provided on their site that the items will get to you in Nigeria . BIG LIE! . just be ready for more frustrating phone calls or emails like these ''the items are on their way'' ,'' there must be some mix up with the package'' ''we will let you know as soon as the items leave our ware house/store'', bla bla bla . You might as well just Forget it.

Lastly, Chinese fashion items ( apparel and shoes) run small , so if for instance a customer tells you she is a UK size 12 for apparel she will probably wear a top bought from china that is a size 14 or 16. same with their shoe sizes. UK shoe size 7 which is an American size 9 will be a Chinese shoe size 11 or 12. And to be honest the Chinese don't make that many large sizes for shoes.

Now , having said all this , there is still a rush for
the Chinese market , this is because the dealers of women apparel and shoes both here in Nigeria and in the US go straight to the Chinese manufacturers and factories with their own specifications for the market they are selling to and then ask the manufacturers to make similar stuffs for them but using their specifications.
i am saying this because i have male cousins who live and travel to china frequently for their market. And they have their manufacturers and dealers in Guangzhou and other areas in China.
this is because these Nigerians want to maintain their customers here and give them good stuffs without breaking the bank.So they travel to China themselves to see what they are getting.

I Hope this has helped . Good luck.

@OP

You might wanna contact these shops and high brow Restaurants on the island,

SPAR/PARK AND SHOP (v,i or lekki)
LAGOON RESTAURANT (ozumba mbadiwe)
OCEAN VIEW
Eko Hotel
Shoprite

i cook with mush rooms a lot , but they aren't always available at these stores maybe because they import them.
Market your supplies to them and make sure you give them a competitive price they cant refuse(these Pakistanis ,indians ,lebanese have gotten street smart here ) , i would suggest you find out the price for the ones in their store and then
do the maths/costing with regards to yours.

Good luck

In fact , its about time someone did something about these stations, you're talking about the content and delivery.

what drives me nuts is the studio sets , the presenters, their wardrobes, you name it.
and to think some of these stations go on air outside Nigeria.

Health / 10 Advantages Of Being Pregnant by uzoo: 11:51am On Nov 19, 2012
1. people get up for you to sit down or have their chair in public places

2. you get your feet rubbed by your partner after a hard days work

3. You eat what ever you like without worrying about weight-loss,calorie intake ... bla bla bla.

4. Every one lifts and carries things for you including your bag.

5. New wardrobe ( except this time its 2 sizes bigger)

6. Eat as much as you want when dining at other peoples homes with out being ashamed.

7. Nag as much as you want.

8. Fake any body pain you want when you dont feel like working, cooking , cleaning or doing any chores at all.

9. You get more sleeping space on the bed including your partners pillows.

10. And if none of these works for you, just get on everybodies nerves, trust me, they'll blame it all on the pregnancy and let you have your way. grin

Food / Re: Dish Washer In Nigerian Kitchen. by uzoo: 6:48pm On Nov 17, 2012
two things about dish washers in Nigeria,

its not standard in a house ,meaning even if you move into a house thats partly or fully furnished , none makes provision for
a dish washer , and if you do buy one to install by your self in the house ,its just a head ache ,like the washing machine , you will have to have a plumber install two pipes for you in the kitchen .one for allowing water from the mains in the house to flow in to the dishwasher ,and the second pipes for passage to the drainage system from the dishwasher (machine).

Then the second issue is,. .., you know, The usual..... power supply. Again like the washing machine , the dish washer is also a machine that uses electricity.
so unless you have a good UPS or INVERTER SYSTEM to power up your dishwasher when the power goes out while its workking, then i suggest you forget the idea of getting one.

But then again, LG may have a dishwasher made for Nigerian climate, i have an LG washing machine that even if the power goes off it gives you enough time to turn on your generator to allow the washing circle to be completed, with out having to start all over again from the beginning ,( thats what ruins the fabric).

i think it has a in-built inverter, and these days they also make the ones with heating element in-built, so it washes with hot water and you dont have to connect your water heater to the washing machine.

TV/Movies / Letter To Channels Tv ; Daily Morning Show (sunrise) Studio Needs An Over-haul by uzoo: 10:54pm On Nov 16, 2012
Let me start by saying that, i am big fan of Channels tv and from what i understand and judging from what a former tv staff said ,that a lot of training has been
given to the staff of the station ,particularly the news casters.
And i commend the job they are doing so far in bringing us latest news from around the world.

but i believe that there is always room for improvement, and as such the station will bring this matter to the attention of who ever is in charge of
logistics, interior and architectural design of the broad casting studio.

now, i will begin with the first thing the station is known for - NEWS & CURRENT AFFAIRS
so it is safe to say that the theme for the studio should reflect this.

For instance : i see the wooden shelf behind the chairs in the studio ,i cant even begin to call that a library , the shelf itself is falling apart and has a terrible colour to it,more like a kitchen table thats been covered in smoke and fumes , and for crying out loud if you are going to display a mini library/bookshelf on a current affairs tv show like that ,try to stock up your shelves with more research books , dictionaries , encyclopedia etc. not the those 2 green and white secondary school text books i see there every morning. grin

Number 2. lets start with what actually forms a room - THE WALLS. This is the foundation for every interior decor/design ( the colour on the walls ,the pattern on each corner of the room,columns/pillars,
windows, doors etc) all these will determine how you want ther entire room to be.

i look at the walls of the studio/room and its just bland, they seem to have this orange zebra print cloth thrown on to the wall behind them, maybe to cover up a door or something that gives an illusion of a window. Come on guys , you can do better than that,Are those window blinds/curtains or batik painting?
the other section of the wall where this huge 'sunset ' picture is hung on the wall is just terrible. . i have a feeling that the interior designer if there was ever any, was trying to sync the theme name of the show with that picture hence creating a disaster. The picture reminds me of one of those cheap looking ones you buy in traffic and hang up in your hostel in school.

A room that small doesn't need a huge picture like that on the wall which is by the way limited in space. i tell you, that wall space will be better off with a massive flat screen display.

Lastly,The Furniture - No Offence to the owners of the Station but those set of chairs ,settee, whatever, is absolutely , i repeat ,absolutely HIDEOUS.
i don't think they themselves would even put that in their homes.

What on earth were they thinking putting such a busy print on a live studio current affairs broadcast, the print on that couch is so busy it will fit so well in a beer parlour/joint,. . .uugghhhh.Driving me Nuts.

Those big, bigger , biggest ''Flower Vases'' need to go or else the next person to sit on that chair close to it will definitely shatter them just by gesticulating with their heads or hands. . (too close and tight for the space). And please, tell me those are not plastic flowers, pleaasss. cry

Phew. . .Right... Now that i've put it out there,i hope someone will take this as a constructive criticism and do something about it. No dissing anyone here ...just that i would like to see
a vibrant, modern and contemporary studio that will further boost the image of the TV station.

Food / Re: Some Unnecessary Kitchen Gadgets by uzoo: 4:46pm On Nov 16, 2012
[quote author=sophy09]There are some kitchen gadgets that are waste of money and yet people still buy them. These are some of the kitchen gadgets I feel they are a waste of money:
Electric Wok (why not use a frying pan)
Electric can opener
Electric knife
Hand blender (what do you need it for when you have a blend already)
Rice Cooker
Salad spinner

whether its an electric Wok or not, you can never get Stir Fry Noodles right in a frying pan, you can come close ,but the taste, cosistency, and mixture is
never right, the Chinese know why it was invented and what its used for. Nothing like the real deal.
its like a mexican tell a Nigerian he doesnt need a seive to drain water from bitter leaf when wringing it to get the bitterness out to make Bitter leaf soup(this of course is an african dish).

If you were just making a glass of smoothie , or any fluid below 250ml, the Hand blender is the only thing that bring the ingredient togther to blend smoothly, try blending that quantity or less in a large 2 litre jug of blander, you will only get lumps.

As a Chef, cook, caterer etc , so many electrical kitchen equipments come in handy because for you ,time is of the essence.
Fashion/Clothing Market / Re: Frying Pan Shaped Modern Design Wall Clock On Mocality Deals by uzoo: 2:41pm On Nov 12, 2012
have you got the George Nelson kitchen clock on the site.(see pics below with cutleries)

No offence , but i've read some really bad reviews about the frying pan clock so ,i'm a bit skeptical

never the less, it would make a good decor in a section of any woman's kitchen wall if it ever stops working wink
