Another World Sickle Cell Day has come & gone,can we maintain this tempo of creating awareness of this serious genetic disorder? or is it a one day affair? For a few of us who have had the experience of living with persons with this disorder, it is & has become a lifetime assignment.Creating awareness of the sickle cell disease is a must,inview of the fact that Nigeria has the largest pool of persons in the whole world living with this condition, but how much do Nigerians know about SCD? I pray that we will get our acts right in this Country, let each of us be the voice in our schools, our villages, our offices,our market place , mosques & churches.

Value For Life (V4L) Initiative (www.value4life.org) is a Non-profit, Non-Religious and Non-Governmental Organization born out a deep concern for the plight of persons living with the Sickle Cell Disorder.

The family of the Founder and Co-ordinator of Value For Life Initiative who has had first hand experience of taking care of their first Son Edinen Usoroh Junior who passed on a few days after his 16th birthday, precisely on the 18th of May 2006, became an ardent activist on the issues of Sickle Cell Anaemia.

As part of our humanitarian services, Value For Life Initiative is currently exploring the feasibility of developing a Doctor to Patient (D2P) Online Portal aimed at creating a first contact virtually.

As part of the system analysis requirements, Medical Doctors are required to avail us their email addresses to facilitate this project. Logs from anonymous patients will be re-directed into medical personnel emails. Responses from medical experts would be channelled back to the online patient email account. No database exists for this information. Hence, all logs are confidential.
