I currently live in Alberta Canada, and I can tell you that the people who enjoy this place are those who came along with their spouses and or kids.

It can be pretty lonely down here for a single guy/lady. My best advise is once you come here look for a Nigerian community and associate yourself with the people in that community. It’s not a good idea to live all by yourself. We are not used to living that way in Nigeria.

One benefit of living here is you can become a citizen in just 3years. After that you can decide to go work in the US, Australia or return to Nigeria if you want. You have to be strategic. Don’t just move for moving sake.

There is money here if you’re in the right profession. There is peace of mind here as well. For me the benefits outweigh the disadvantages.

Living in Nigeria has its numerous disadvantages as well. It’s up to you to decide what you want.

1. If you’re intelligent and determined, you can use the study route. Apply for a PhD in the US/Canada.

2. You can do an MSc in Nigeria (Since you’re still young) and then pursue PR in Canada. You can also explore Australia PR.

Whatever you decide, make sure you enter legally. That’s the only way you can maximize your stay in abroad.
Politics / Re: INEC To Nigerians: Help Us Identify Underage Persons On Voters’ Register by valves: 5:22am On Nov 15, 2022
It’s not our job to identify underage voters. They were registered and verified by INEC staff/agents.

In the first place, INEC claimed they cleaned up their records some time ago, so why didn’t they detect these underaged registered voters?

How can we be trying to make Nigeria work again but INEC is there spoiling our efforts !!!

If you come here as a student you won't go back cos you'll most likely get a job. People get citizenship here in 3-5 years.

Don't dash UK your money pls. UK made their Visa easy for a reason. I beg make una think well

All of una wey dey house dey enjoy comfort and safety, just to let you know that this insecurity go touch everybody one day if we do not do anything. It does not matter if you are Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba or any other tribe. It does not matter if you are in the police, army, rich or poor. It does not matter if you are APC, PDP, LP or ANPP. All of us go collect if we continue to be passive.

Our best chance of making a turnaround is in the next elections. If we don't get it right, hmmm! I honestly can't imagine how the next 8 years will be.

If your decision will be solely based on salary, I'll advise you to remain on the mainland.

However, I don't think you should base your decision on salary alone. First of, the money isn't much (150k is roughly $280) and that can hardly meet all your needs, especially if you have a family.

What I think you should be more concerned about are: job satisfaction, the skills you'd acquire while on the job, prospect of growth, organisation's reputation, etc. Whichever meets most (or all) of the above criteria is the best for you.

Oh boy, I submitted March 10, no mail till date.
And when I mailed VFS Accra to ask if it's there, they said they didn't have my records. Tracking on the website, said the package is still in transit after a whopping 20+ days. I just weak.

Don't worry. You'll get back your passport in about 5-6 weeks from the date it was received by VFS Lagos or Abuja.

Thanks for the summary. Pls I want to confirm if you were receiving updates as your passport was going through each process or you got the whole info after completion. We submitted our passports (family of 3) via Abuja VAC on the 15th of February, got confirmation that same day that passport is in transit and till date, no other information. I've been tracking almost everyday, still the same passport is in transit.

Yes I was receiving updates.

This is a summary of my timeline for passport submission via VFS Lagos. Just to act as a guide to those who used VFS Lagos.

PPR date: 12th January 2022.

Submitted passport at UPS office (2-way delivery): 17th January.

VFS Lagos Received passport: 18th January. They
confirmed that passport is in transit same day.

Passport was received at VFS Ghana: 7th February.

Passport got to IRCC: 10th February.

Counterfoil was generated on: 17th February.

Passport sent back to VFS Ghana: 18th February.

Passport got to VFS Lagos: March 1st.

UPS delivered passport to me (because I did 2-way delivery): 7th March.

In all, it took a little over 6-weeks. That's a lot of time, but I was not in a hurry.

A friend used VFS Abuja. He submitted on Jan 15th (DHL & 2-way). Passport was delivered to his house on 25th February. That's approx. 5 weeks.

How long does it take if one sends through Abuja VFS? Passport was sent on the 25th of January. How long does it take?

I believe by now you should have noticed some movements.

I can't give any definite answer regarding how long it takes. People's experiences differ. I know of someone who got it in 4 weeks. I also know of another person who sent on the 15th January. His passport has been stamped and is on the way back to VFS Abuja as we speak.

I sent mine through VFS Lagos on the 18th of January and it got to IRCC office on Friday, 11th Feb.

Generally speaking, Abuja is faster than Lagos. I hope this helps...

Hi guys
Please I have seen two opinions with respect to sending docs to vfs. Please I need clarification.
Is one to pay for just one-way? Or
Two-way courier?

Thanks

This is what I know: Whether one-way or two-way, your package will get to you. The difference is basically in the cost.

If you pay for one-way, you are paying for the package to be delivered to VFS only. VFS will then send your package to IRCC. Once your passport comes back from IRCC, VFS will send you an email and ask you to pay for the package to be delivered to you by their (VFS) courier, which will cost about #16,800 (you'll see the cost for VFS one-way courier charge here: https://visa.vfsglobal.com/nga/en/can/additional-services).

On the other hand, if you pay two-way, you are paying for the package to be sent to VFS, and when it comes back from IRCC, the courier company you used will pick it up from VFS and deliver to you, since cost of delivery is already covered by the two-way payment. So you have eliminated the VFS delivery charges. It is cheaper this way and saves time.

So it depends on which option you want.

Hello Team
I got ppr on the 27th of January 2022
Sent my passport to Abuja VFS office via dhl.
I got an email with the tracking number from vfs on the 1st February 2022.
It’s been like 2 weeks and no email from vfs.
Should I be worried as anytime I keep tracking my passport, I get the message still in transit.
Any idea on the timeframe for passport submitted at Abuja office
Also any idea on how I can contact the Abuja VFs office
Thanks

I don't think you should be worried because your package has been received by vfs. In my case, I started to notice movements after the second week. I believe that you'll receive an email soon when your package gets to Ghana.

Hi all,

I recently got my PPR and I was wondering if someone can help me outline the process of submitting my passport to VFS Lagos, as I’m currently in Abuja. What documents do I need? Also do I need to submit a copy the biometrics acknowledgment.

Thanks in advance.

Read your PPR mail carefully. Almost all documents you need to submit are mentioned.

In my case (I'm a single applicant), these are the document I submitted:

1. Print out of PPR email.

2. Two passport photos. (Ensure that you follow the specification provided in the PPR mail).

3. My height and eye colour info. (There is a height and eye colour chart section in your PPR email. You can print that page and fill).

4. My International passport.

5. CVAC form (I filled only page 2 of the form).

6. Either a or b below depending on where you did your biometric:

a. If Lagos is where you did your biometric, you need to submit the biometric acknowledgement/slip that was given to you after you did your biometric.

b. If Lagos is not where you did your biometric, you need to pay transmission fee and provide Evidence of payment of transmission fees.

Although I did my biometric in Lagos, I decided to pay transmission fees because I couldn't find my biometric slip and didn't want to take chances.

Package all the above document in an envelope and courier it to VFS Lagos office at:

Visa Application Centre Ground Floor, The Manor Plot 110, Admiral Ayinla Way, Lekki Phase 1 Lagos Nigeria.

You can use any of the courier services around you. The most reliable from experience are DHL and UPS. It is recommended that you pay for two-way delivery (not one-way), so that the passport will be delivered to your address when it comes back. Get your tracking details for the courier service used and monitor until it is received at VFS Lagos.

Once your package gets to VFS Lagos, you'll be notified via email. The email will also contain your VFS tracking details, which you'll use to track the movement of your package to IRCC.

Once again, ensure you read the email carefully especially if you're not a single applicant because there might be some very minor variations.

Hi guys. I’m trying to understand this passport stamping. Is it that we can send to any VO for stamping? I see people send to London and accra and abuja. Which VO is fastest? What timeline?

The instruction says you are to submit to the nearest VAC. If you are in London I believe you should submit to the VAC there.

But if you are in Nigeria, you can submit to Lagos or Abuja (remember to pay transmission fee if the VAC is not where you did your biometric.).

For those in Nigeria, your passports will be sent to Ghana where it will be stamped and returned.

People opt to send directly to Ghana (or Cairo) because it is faster. I heard they get back their passports in about 2 weeks or so.

Remed Request Here. (AOR: 01/‘21. VO: OVO. FSW)

I’m not sure how to go about it; very fast (within a week)

- Am I uploading anything via webform?
- Can I walk into Qlife or IOM and get it done?

Kindly help with suggestions.

Modified

I didn't read the second part of your question.

1. You can do your remed at QLife or IOM. They'll send your result to IRCC. You don't have to upload anything via webform.

2. There is a high probability that QLife and IOM are fully booked up to your 30-day deadline. You can confirm online on their websites. But not to worry if they are fully booked.

This is what I did during my remed in Dec 2021:

For QLife, I sent a mail and explained my situation. I also Attach my remed form sent by IRCC (the one you can download from your portal). They replied the mail and scheduled me for a date that was like a week before my deadline. I wasn't comfortable with that so I explored IOM.

IOM was a bit more flexible. I walked in and with plenty beg and explanations and long wait, I was allowed to do my remed same day (it was my lucky day, it seemed like some people didn't show up). If they don't allow you to do it same day, you will be scheduled for another date which will be earlier than what QLife will offer you.

In all, try and explain your situation. Let them know your medical is on request by IRCC (not upfront), and you have a deadline.

Like i advised before, if you did your biometrics in Lagos, pls save yourself stress and dhl your passport to VFS Lekki as you will get in back in a month max.

I really wonder what the rush is about? If you waited almost 2-3years for PPR, what is a month that you cant wait it out.

I come in peace, no body should come for me o smiley

Exactly my thoughts...

This is the most sensible suggestion. Assuming her due date is in a month time

• There’s no guarantees she would get her stamped passport in a month. Even if she decides to use Accra direct or Cairo, she might experience an exceptional delay.

• A lot of airlines will not allow you to fly in your last trimester, especially with a very close due date. More so , air travel is now an extreme sport with all the COVID tests and country specific requirements like quarantine etcetera.

From recent trends, as long as her application is finalized, adding an extra dependent will not overly delay the application compared to those whose application are still in processing.

Better to have her child here with peace of mind. IRCC will always reissue PPR for sure.

Good suggestion

Hello guys

Please I have an urgent situation, I and my husband just got PPR, he's the primary applicant, however I'm pregnant, to give birth in about a month.

Don't really know about this process, what can we do?

Can we still travel before I give birth, or should we wait till after.

IMO you can do either of the following:

1. Hurry and get your passport stamped (you can use Accra or Cairo VO where your passport can be stamped and returned within 2weeks) so that you can travel and deliver in Canada.

As someone adviced, ensure you land in a province where you get health coverage from day-1 so you don’t incur high delivery costs.

2. Inform IRCC about your condition if you think you will not be able to travel before you give birth.

They will revoke your PPR and ask you to submit updated family info, POF etc. But it might take some time before you get another PPR given the situation of things at the moment.

Please, if you submitted your passport recently or know any one who did, which VO do you recommend? I don't know which to choose between VFS Lagos and Cairo VO.

I will really appreciate a response

It depends on how fast you want it. I sent mine to Lagos VFS and was told it will take about 4-5 weeks before my passport comes back.

People who sent directly to Accra and Cairo got it in roughly two weeks.

So if you have time to spare you can use Lagos VFS. Otherwise consider sending to Cairo or Accra.

While doing my medicals, I was asked if I was vaccinated and I said no.
Do you think that could be held against me?

The same thing was asked when I did mine, and I was scared that it might affect the outcome.

But 4 days after my remed, my profile was updated and I passed the medical examination (TBH I'm still not at ease until PPR).

I've started making preparations to receive the vaccine though.
